Guest Reviews
- Prue (7/5): - We couldn't get the aircon to work and we preferred room 26 over room 20
- Prue (8/5): -
- Jose Ricardo (8/5): Ótimo custo benefício para 1 noite - Pelo preço estava tudo perfeito mais no quarto haviam algumas baratinhas Poderia melhorar a limpeza
- Julia (7/5): For one night it was ok and price was good - The chairs were a bit wonky
The cutlery drawer was dirty. I cleaned it all
- Dean (8/5): -
- Kai (9/5): -
- Neil (6/5): Comfortable lodgings, met most expectations. - Plenty of clean linen; adequate bedding and kitchen facilities. No shampoo in shower dispenser. Communal kitchen not well maintained.
- Madeleine (9/5): -
- Sunga (8/5): -
- Van Niekerk (8/5): - Staff is helpfull and friendly. Motel is quet and peaceful.. Laundry facilities out of order.
- Dargaville (1/5): unfortunely we would not stay there again, unless upgraded and clean. - friendly greeting on arrival
friendly farewell double bed in kitchen very soft uncomfortable. shower head would move from wall, mould base. bug and hair on spare beds. unclean smell in room. dim dark rooms, need more light. teatowels strange smell plus had holes in one of them. curtains falling off rail. we had to leave 1 x day early due to storm. walls very thin. dog barking next door.
- Lenore (4/5): It didn’t live up to expectations - Location was close to everything we needed A little run down , and what we were expecting was not correctly advertised. Like cooking was in a communal kitchen and it was a bit gross and the fridges were disgusting, so we didn’t us it. Also there was no table or chairs in the cabin to sit and eat at or watch tv.
- Thorne-Militch (6/5): - Customer service was great. Owner was nice and friendly Few left over things in the kitchen in the cupboards from person before. And had to supply our own milk as they were out of stock of it.
Left early due to Cyclone coming back home they couldn't do a partial refund but a discount next trip offered
- Kathleen (7/5): I know will stay there again and hopefully things will be improved again. Love it for the cost we pay nice and cheap but - Has improved each time we’ve stayed there.
The room we had was so clean, toilet door we could lock last one door handle was broken.
Overall happy all rooms should look amazing like this.
However…….. The bed was terrible so low and the fact no legs on the bed not sure why.
Curtains not fully covering door, no blinds on kitchen window.
Table so unsteady
Could do with a comfy chair in corner
Perhaps upgraded the tv stand or hang on wall
Broken draw or stuck draws
- Lisa (5/5): - Guy at reception was lovely Abit run down, could do with a good clean and revamp.
- Graham (4/5): Cheap & Nasty - The manager doesnt deduct your credit card until he shows you the poor state of the facility and you then decide if you choose to stay or not.... I guess you get what you pay for. The facility is poorly kept, the kitchen was not cleaned and highly unhygienic and the toilets were no better. I wouldn't stay here again at all.
- Shaviea (8/5): Overall great stay for me and my family - They provided for our late arrival The people who stayed next door were up early 4am and were extremely loud
- Fasong (6/5): Budget accomm - you get what you pay for - Friendly and responsive reception staff Main problem: hot water in shower not working during my stay - intermittent. It was being fixed on day of arrival but the fix did not work.
Mouldy corn cob found in microwave. Not the cleaners fault but I decided not to touch the microwave at all.
The walls are thin - fortunately I didn’t have noisy neighbours. Most were up and gone before sunrise.
- Wong (6/5): An honest review - The only staff we met was Vishal, the manager. He was friendly, very approachable and was most helpful in every way. When we needed bigger kitchen utensils he was prompt in providing. He also provided fresh towels without delay when requested. The stay has been made a lot more pleasant by Vishal 's efficiency.
Though the general ambience of the room and kitchen was unkempt, the beds were comfortable and sheets were clean and crisp. The buildings are run down and initial impressions point towards a motor camp accommodation rather than a motel. The cooking facilities were very outdated, though they were all in working order. Though there was just sufficient crockery and cutlery (4 of each plate, cereal bowl, knife, fork, table and tea spoons), there were hardly any dishes for serving food for 4 people.
- Snehalatha (5/5): - NA NA
- Henry (10/5): -
- Rachel (8/5): We will definitely stay at Camellia Court Motel again. - The motel was extremely clean. For an older style motel, the cleanliness was phenomenal. I've stayed at alot of motels, and this by far has been the cleanest. My family were very impressed by this. The location was awesome, close to town and restaurants. The hostess was lovely and welcoming from the time we arrived. Thank you so much! Can't fault them on anything.
- Chennie Mae (8/5): -
- Luke (10/5): Stayed with our three children; the playground and facilities were excellent value. - Ideal location, everything that we needed was right there. Clean and comfortable.
- Nicky (3/5): -
- Cassandra (7/5): - The facilities in our cabin Toilets & showers needed a bit of attention to detail.
- Eileen (5/5): - Kettle didn't work, could hear everything coming from neighbours units.
- Stefanie (3/5): Would not stay here ... - Location Mouldy curtains, the stench in room was bad, could only utilize one of 2 bedrooms due to mould. Food on windows. Multiple broken items in room.
- Nicky (1/5): - Nothing Room full of flies, bedding had white stains and brown crust stuck on them. Shared facilities were disgusting. Couldn't use the toilet as they were all covered in urine and no locks on any door. Didn't feel we would have been safe going to bathroom in the night. We didn't stay at accommodation we left after 10 minutes.
Laundry defekt. Kann man niemandem mehr empfehlen.
- Aftekhar (1/5): Extremely unclean place. Not suitable for stay at all - Location wise good The most unclean motel in entire NZ
- Elise (8/5): -
- Ruth (7/5): - Affordable
- Taisho (6/5): Easy to check in, whole room condition was not good condition, too poor and older. - Room Price okay. Shower room facility too bad condition.
- Mike (6/5): You get what you pay for :) - Staff is friendly and helpful and the location is good for walking around. Everything could use a little refresh, and then I mean everything. Its not dirty enough to be bothered, but its also not super clean
- Rastamun marley (7/5): Comfy and good value for money - Free chocolates n fizzy in fridge. Thank-you The bed was a but too spongy n the shower (supposed to be a spa bath) had water leaking after around the wall.
Booking dot coms advertised a spa bath in the unit.. although there wasn't one so that was really quite disappointing ..
- Jemmel (3/5): -
- Adrienne (6/5): - Appreciated an upgraded room after a very long drive. Owner was very accommodating
- DesireevDS (6/5): -
- Christopher (10/5): - Service and professionalism from the management.
- Dean (4/5): Not a nice place, cheap ish but not worth $150 per night. - The location was great. There were guests staying that were talking and laughing loudly at 2130 hrs when kids were trying to get to sleep.
The bed was quite hard and uncomfortable.
There was no air con and it was sweltering hot.
There didn’t appear to be any hot water in the room, but it later became hot. There were electrical cords that connected the aerial or lights or something else dangling down above the bed.
All of the cloths, kitchen cloths and steel scrubbers were old dirty and grunge.
- Sue (7/5): -
- X.Mumma.X (1/5): - Staff was great when i arrived, told what i needed to know and was also told if i wanted to smoke there was an area for that.. (i dont smoke)... not even there for 20 minutes and the person next to our cabin was smoking straight out their room door, the smell was coming through the gap at the bottom of our door which was CLOSED. Ants on the bench when arrived, no remote for the tv, will definitely not recommend if you have kids.
- Sami (4/5): Good stay - Property is within minutes drive to the town center.
Is clean and secure The hot water was not working
- Anatia (10/5): -
- Nawabhorn Patpan (7/5): -
- kumaran (6/5): The staff was amazing but the communal kitchen/toilet needs some upgrades - The room was clean with ironed clean bedsheets communal kitchen smelled. communal toilets had no locks, I had stayed in better conditioned motels/cabins for the same price.
- Katrina (1/5): If city wasnt fully booked we wouldnt have stayed at all. - The room was warm. Entry door stuck, cupboard door broken,no tea or coffee. Mould in shower, dirty shower vent, dirty used tissue in drawer, small holes in bed sheets, 1 teaspoon, 2 forks (room was for 4 people),washed cups before use as they were dirty, 2 windows with broken latches no table or chairs, damaged floor coverings. Was ment to be an appartment for 4 people.
- Daniel (8/5): Great affordable stay with lovely hosts - Lovely spot, awesome hosts and good value for money.
Thank you
- Luciano (9/5): -
- pete (9/5): -
- Gabriella (4/5): Ok if you just need a bed. - Central to Taupo.
Comfy beds
Easy check in and check out.
Fridge in the cabin.
Efficient heater
Hot water in shared bathrooms Loud - you could hear your neighbour snoring.
Kitchen was filthy
Only one chair outside of cabin when the cabin was for 4 people.
Cutlery provided in cabin - but no forks!
They didn’t seem to keep the ladies bathroom in check - no toilet paper - one toilet out of order - one unlockable.
- Jo (7/5): -
- Litea (5/5): Not my first choice, but was a good choice for a last minute overnight trip. - Good location. Furniture needed replacing. For example, the dining table in our room was very wobbly.
- Laura (8/5): - We booked very last minute because our road to Napier had closed so we needed somewhere to stay. It was a very great deal. The room was tidy and clean, with a basic kitchen, stove, kettle and fridge. Beds were great too. Everything we needed. And friendly receptionist.
- Mary (10/5): - Staff are friendly and helpful. Facilities are spacious and grounds are easily navigated. Located close to town and lake. Loved the vibe here ✨️
- Verna (8/5): -
- Amit kumar (5/5): - It’s Avarage place
- Ma'u (3/5): -
- Michael (4/5): - The toilet was not bolted to the floor correctly. I almost fell off in the middle of doing my business as I did not expect it to tilt while sitting on it.
- David (1/5): - Very little It was an utter 'dog-box.' The entire unit, with sleeping for 5, measured little more than 5m X 2m.. The tiny 'kitchen' was also the walkway from the door to the sleeping area. There was a mini fridge on the floor (in great need of a defrost) and a microwave perched on top. There was a sink with the cold tap on the wrong side... we never managed to get hot water out of the other tap... and that one ran VERY slowly. All kitchen appliances were located in an external facility, so we purchased a kettle for tea and coffee making in the room. Further, upon arrival, there were no towels anywhere to be seen, so a quick trip to the nearest Salvos fixed that. A few minutes after returning, towels were delivered to the room. Ummm thanks! Aside from the bunk beds, there was nowhere to sit - there was a single very old plastic chair outside which we brought in. Great for a family of 5!
In the external kitchen, the first two toasters we tried didn't work!!
The doonas were in need of a good wash - they smelled!
The walls were very thin... We did enjoy listening to (what seemed to be) Muslim prayers at 10:30pm in the next room while trying to sleep prior to an early appointment the next morning!
- Kelvin (4/5): Cheap accommodation for those needing it. - Cost effective accommodation close to town. Power points not working. Renovations need relooked at. The kitchen facilities in our self contained unit were not equipped for more than one person to have played/bowls/etc. TV remote missing. No disc washing detergent initially.
- Heidi (8/5): Basic accommodation for a family and cheap - Cheap basic accommodation for a family
- Gordon (10/5): - Amazing value for a stay in Taupo. Good location, comfortable, clean, great facilities, lovely staff. Would definitely recommend!
- Mohd Ridzuan (5/5): -
- Mahfooz (1/5): - Location hygiene cleanliness very poor
- Tauromi (4/5): - Cheap accommodation Dirty dishes yucky toilet brush public toilet was disgusting.
- Paula (7/5): -
- Smyleabel (7/5): -
- Georgina (2/5): Disappointing Stay – Would Not Recommend for Families - It's just 5 mins drive to the town centre and 3 mins drive to the tournament park. The room had a bad smell, and although we knew the toilet and shower were shared, we didn’t realise they were in a separate building quite far from the rooms which felt unsafe at night, especially with kids. The TV didn’t work, and the beds were uncomfortable with no steps for the top bunks. We also saw the police visit twice during our stay, which made us uneasy. Sadly, we couldn’t wait to leave. The place needs better maintenance and clearer communication for families.
- Hiranthi (9/5): -
- Alex (6/5): Cheap and comfortable. Just hot water issue and slugs 🤢 - Comfortable beds Could only have two short showers then no hot water family of five not very good.
Also slugs all through the shower, bathroom. Yuck
- Elizabeth (9/5): Nice experience with our family - Very budget friendly. Homely ambience with all the facilities. Cleanliness can be improved in common lue areas.but still satisfying.
- Jenny (3/5): Crappy - Very little There's not enough space to write everything, very disappointing 😬
- Phillip (7/5): ideal for what was needed - value for money
- Phillip (7/5): -
- Zongqi (3/5): - Stains and sand on the sheet, and toasters in room and kitchen were both not working. The heater is noisy in the midnight, we have to get up and turn it off. Toilet is not very clean.
- julius (7/5): Good - Good No light in my room.broken
No ladder to go above bed.
Heater is to small in my kids room.not enough to warm my kids properly
- Roselle (8/5): -
- Mohammad Rafi (10/5): Exceptional and professional manager - I am writing on behalf of four families; each family had five members, so we were a group of 19 people, including adults and children.
I booked this hotel through Booking.com, and before travelling, I called to confirm that everything was in order. There was a misunderstanding and argument with the owner regarding a some issue, which made me a little worried about what might happen.
However, when we arrived with all 19 people, the manager, Vishal was truly exceptional. He was a hero — like a superman. He handled the situation very gently, politely, and professionally, and resolved all the issues smoothly. He also arranged excellent rooms for us.
We stayed for two nights and had a wonderful experience. All 19 of us are very grateful and keep sharing our appreciation. Everyone is still talking about the kindness, professionalism, and positive attitude of the manager. The Owner
- Patrick (4/5): It provided a place to rest onight on a long journey - It was cheap No info to operate the “quaint” shower and sink unit
- Rochelle (4/5): -
- kevin (6/5): -
- Stephanie (4/5): Disappointed to point of no return!!! - The beds comfortable. We didn't like the fact the place was so run down! We have stayed there a few times over the last 10 years. It has become very run down and unclean compared to previous stays. The curtains didn't open or close! The stove top in our room didn't work so we had to use communal kitchen...which hadn't been cleaned in forever! Very little kitchen utensils and what was there was greasy! The TV didn't work in the kitchen. All the walls, oven, rang hood where dirty and greasy with cooking fats etc! While the floor was black with dirt! Bathrooms not any better. We won't be back!!!!!
- tenzing (4/5): -
- Lynda (2/5): It was okay. - It was cheap 👍 The toilet was not bolted down. There was no dish soap, sponge or tea towel and we were told to wash the dishes. The water temperature in the shower was awful. Found black hair in bed. There was Dust everywhere. And the dining room chairs fell apart. It is okay if you just want somewhere to sleep overnight but would not recommend staying there during the day.
- Andrew (7/5): Our stay was short and sweet and well worth the money - Location was good the room was perfect for my family it wasn’t too hot or too cold the bathroom and spacious which was unexpected. We stayed for 2 nights and I would definitely recommend this motel to any whanau on a budget. Unfortunately we found it hard trying to get the the hot water going for the shower and the double bed wasn't as good as the single beds
- Heiko (3/5): Cheap, but don't expect too much. - Uncomplicated, quick check in. Shared facilities were in an a run down state.
Kitchen old and dirty, bathroom dirty and not maintained. With a serious amount of elvoow grease it could be spruces upgain.
It was a cheap alternative, so we possibly got what we paid for.
- Matt (8/5): In general, we enjoyed our time there. That's why we extended our stay for another night. - We were given a free upgrade to a quieter room because we had a young child with us. That was greatly appreciated. We enjoyed our stay, and stayed an extra night. Our room was actually 2 rooms, which was also great. The hotel is in a residential area, so it is quiet. But it's not in the centre. You can decide if you think that's good or bad! The coking facilities in the room were very basic, and there were almost no pots or pans for cooking. The shared kitchen didn't have many pots or pans either.
There was a small playground there, which was nice for our child. But it clearly needs some maintenance as it's looking very sad.
It seemed like people were actually living at the motel. We talked to one person who claimed that that had been living there for 2 years.
- Allan Ong (1/5): Worst accommodation and deceptive accommodation in Taupo. Don't be duped like we were Beware - The toilets were filthy The real rooms look nothing like the advertisement. We took one look at it and fled. It was really run down . Even bath towels were not provided. Terrible. We were not compensated a single cent though we didn't stay the 2 nights we booked. Most , most disappointing. I can go on the say, the place is unlivable.
- Raroa (1/5): - nothing dirty
- Waldemar (7/5): - Miły personel, dobra lokalizacja Przestarzałe pokoje
- Sara (6/5): - The room was really old, one of the bed was noisy, any move you did the metalic bed squeaked horrible.
- Kimberley (5/5): - Easy access to centre of Taupo (driving). Shower pressure was great. Lack of cutlery/kitchen equipment.
Noisy.
In need of an upgrade.
- Ferris (8/5): Convenient and met our expectations - Cheap accomodation, met our needs Needs some TLC
- Princesss Rose (10/5): - Kind staff and accommodating.
