Guest Reviews
- Nicola (2/5): - The only positive thing about this hotel is the price.
- richard (10/5): - liked the closeness to the ferry port
- Karen (10/5): Clean and good value for money with helpful staff. - I have award a 5 star based on the budget nature of the hotel. It is great for access to the ferry terminal. Our room was clean as was the bathroom and although compact it provided a good night's sleep at a very competitive rate. The receptionist was excellent (Veronique I think). She was helpful prior to and upon our arrival and spoke English to us as my schoolgirl French isn't up to much! We didn't use the restaurant at all so cannot comment.
- Judith (4/5): - Reception is closed 13.00 until 17.00 and not open again until 11.00. Receptionist is indifferent.
- Lawrence (6/5): - I traveled on the le shuttle. This was very near and not expensive. Veronique was very helpful before and after, with clear instructions and a nice manner. A credit to this hotel. The breakfast bar man was nice to speak to. The star of this hotel is the Labrador that meets you on arrival outside the property. If iam in the area again I will bring him a treat. The hotel has so much potential, but is a bit run down. Shore and sink were not in great shape and the pillows are just two cushions. The room had a strange pine decor. I suspect it’s hiding something nasty underneath. A few broken windows and the sun area has fell to bits. All that said, I would stay again, but bring my own pillows. Thankyou Veronique and the dog. He made our stay memorable 👍
- Patricia (10/5): - Check in was quick and easy, the room and bathroom were clean, but the pillows were a disgrace. They were worn out and the filling had all separated, they really need replacing.
The restaurant was closed on a Saturday evening, rather strange I thought and there were no facilities to get a drink of any sort, very poor I think, especially when you’re travelling, this really needs looking into, poor customer service.
The breakfast was lovely, we really enjoy it.
Would I stay again, not sure I would.
- Pamela (10/5): - Great value for money. Comfortable and clean. Definitely use again
- John (8/5): - Pros. Friendly and helpful staff, off road parking with gates locked at 22.00. Room clean with fresh linen and towels.
Cons. Restaurant closed for holidays in the middle of peak times. (4 minutes drive to Restaurant or burger King).Noisy neighbours in the next room (past midnight talking and banging the window open and shut). No coffee making facilities in room.
- Man Kit (8/5): - Friendly staff, room are small but clean. Close to Dunkirk Ferry Terminal, even better if fridge is provided.
Good free parking.
- anne-marie (8/5): - The hotel was easy to find and exactly what it says on the tin i love the fact of the gates being closed as it made it feel safe. If any thing the fact the rooms have no drink facilities was a little dissapointing but the host did let me get a tea and take to our room. The dog that is their he is extremely friendly and he came to greet us from our car we loved that.
- Emilia (10/5): Quick and easy - Great 2 night stay with my family. Hotel was simple but had everything we needed. Hassle free check in / check out. Arrived late at night, instructions how to get to our room were clear. Thank you 😊
- Verified traveler (4/5): - A not so good experience, the room was clean and compact. The cafe closed early (2030) and the bar had no beer. It was a car drive to find somewhere to get food but after a day travelling we were too tired.
The breakfast was continental buffet, and that wasn't best that we have had.
Would I stay here again? No
- Dariusz (6/5): - Very kind and helpful staff. Clean in general.
Terrible beds unfortunately but in quiet area
- Dean (6/5): Ok budget hotel. - I think this is one of the better lower end budget hotels, always seems tidy with clean linen but smells terribly of cigarette smoke and some of the stuff is dated and dowdy, like the shower curtains are past there best, also the shower head rail was worn and just kept slipping down no matter how tight you did it, so i packed it with a piece of plastic and it was ok then.
The door into the kitchen could do with a scrub and a lick of paint where the push plate is, it looks filthy.
- Denise (4/5): - Friendly staff, convinient from motirway, nice dog.
Definitely needs updating , walls dirty in need of painting., tight space for two people not much room for cases and moving around, stuffy .
- Verified traveler (6/5): Clean but basic and drab - If you are arriving, sleeping, leaving, it will do but I probably would have spent £15 extra on somewhere a little nicer.
If you are arriving after 9 the lack of staff is a little annoying as you can't resolve the niggles like needing an extra pillow.
So it's fine. Clean but basic and drab.
- Robert (10/5): - Our third stay at this hotel, friendly staff and great value for money
- Stephanie (10/5): - This hotel worked really well for our family
- Matthew (10/5): Nice basic hotel - Nice basic hotel. Loved the dog on arrival - but it did make the hotel reception smell!
- Matthew (4/5): - The shower and the toilet were both broken in one of our rooms. As soon as my wife tried to take a shower, the whole arm holding the hose collapsed. Budget hotel yes, and you don’t expect much, but you don’t expect the fittings to be crumbling around you. The rooms are also very very dark with no main light.
- Syed D (2/5): - I dont know how this hotel got good ratings. We were a family
- Robert (6/5): - Comfortable bed clean bed linen but the rest was very tired.
- CARL (6/5): Cheap and cheerful but needs a renovation - Great staff and easy to get to from main road.
Door in room was hard to close. Room had marks on wall. No kettle etc. very basic room however comfortable. Terrible lighting in room. Needs a paint/service renovation.
Comfortable and clean bedding but only one small pillow offered. Soap and cleaning bathroom products basic but provided. Cheap stay!
- Eleanore (4/5): Disappointing - Very basic reflected in the price- but also dirty, mouldy and broken shower. Nowhere available to get any hot water to drink and the restaurant closed before 9pm. Breakfast pastries weren't fresh.
- Augusta (8/5): Would recommend - They spoke English which helped. Once we arrived the gate was locked and we had missed the email with instructions and the code but someone let us in. Security is excellent on this site. Cost effective - we had an adjoining room which provided lots of space and meant my husband and I had separate bathrooms! The kids roamed freely and felt comfortable. The room was hot but the open window provided lots of air. We slept OK but could have been better with a double mattress and more pillows. Property was clean and quiet though and just what we needed to rest our heads and change between trips out.
- Andrew (2/5): - Arrived at the property hoping to get something to eat and drink after a long journey. Was told the bar and restaurant were closed at weekends. It was Friday! Outside seating area looked like it's had been closed for months with no tables or chairs. Rooms were very basic with only one socket to charge phones. No coffee or tea phacilities. If you want poor service with mosquito ridden Rooms then this is the place to stop.
- Nina (10/5): Clean, quiet and efficient - Very efficient no fuss overnight stay close to motorway.
- jason (10/5): - Perfect for nights stay after the ferry
Cheap
Safe
Nice
Good breakfast
Staff on reception excellent
- paul (8/5): - A cheap basic hotel, ideal for overnight stay prior to/after ferry. Reasonable bed, clean and friendly staff. I would certainly return.
- Robert (10/5): - Nice hotel for the money, friendly staff and easy access to the main roads
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Handy budget hotel, nice and friendly staff.
- dionigi (2/5): a place like hell - overnight stay ,parking ok ,room nothing like photos ,very limited meals .more like a truck stop than hotel ,room very cold had to sleep with clothes on ,was locked out for over 1 hour as wasnt told about code to open door on ckeck in.no choice for meals there or anywhere close.brakfast look very basic with stewed coffee so didnt bother with it..stayed in 1000,s of hotel in my time ,some expensive some cheap ,this rates the worst,
- Harald (10/5): A friendly place. - Very friendly staff, good communication good breakfast, value for money. Bedroom very small but acceptable.
- naim (4/5): - The only good thing was lady on receptionist very helpful ,room very dirty specially carpet and walls .
- Rodica (10/5): - Great service, friendly Staff
- Michael (6/5): - Pretty basic hotel, sparse rooms but clean bedding, towels and good shower. Helpful staff and secure parking. Only let down was breakfast, poor selection, small cramped area to access it, but it was fresh and replenished often and nice fresh coffee. Tables a bit too close together.
- Sonny (8/5): Quick and convenient - Good Hotel for an overnight stop. There were larger sized rooms but we were allocated a very small sized room which was very inconvenient. Overall a good site for an overnight stay
- Mary (8/5): Handy hotel for moving on - The personnel were very helpful. We had 2 problems. Firstly the light in the shower had a bad contact which meant it flashed on and off. Secondly which was more important, shower gel was provided in a sachet but there was no soap or similar product to wash ones hands after using the WC. Nor was there any hand sanitiser in the room.
Otherwise a lovely stay and good value.
- RICHARD (6/5): You get what you pay for - A pleasant lady at the desk. The room felt grubby, especially the carpet. The shower head soaked the bathroom. The beds were made of melamine with an okay slippy matress on top. Sheets seemed clean (little hole)
For the price of about £43.00 a night for two people it gave us a little rest before the ferry to Dover next morning. Better than Formule 1 but will spend a bit more elsewhere next time.
- Thomas (8/5): - Useful location just off the highway. Interconnected rooms ideal for a family and blackout curtains were really good. Self serve buffet breakfast was amazing. An honest overnight stay.
- Sharon (10/5): One word “Amazing” - Well what do I say if I had only one word “Amazing” this hotel is so supportive the Communication is great including if you are going to arrive late they take the distress out of worry for when the reception has closed at the evening this is my 3rd time of stopping at this hotel I look for available here first then others
- Tim (6/5): - Ok for an overnight stay and correct for the price
- Robert (10/5): - Friendly staff, ideal stop over
- Verified traveler (4/5): Dirty, Not family friendly - Showers smelled terrible like bodt odor. We had to shower with our sandals on. Hair left in the drains. Gross!
- Ian (6/5): average overnight stop off - Have stayed at this hotel several times and it seems to have become quite tired. Not as clean as it has been in the past and the service was adequate but not as friendly as it once was.
- Michael (10/5): - Perfect stay with tasty breakfast.
- virgilio (6/5): - The room was to smal and to dark no facility for making coffe or tea
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Immediately when I got to my Room there was a smell so bad i could taste it
- Elena (10/5): - Nice clean and quite place. Late check-in without any problems - everything works very smooth. Tasty breakfast with fresh croissants.
- Steven (8/5): - Good all round comfortable clean and good value for money
- James (8/5): Good Stop Over Hotel for Price - This is an OK hotel for a stop over if waiting to cross the channel or have just crossed the channel. It is basic, but clean and the staff are friendly.
Good value for money.
- Pjw (8/5): - Good for overnight stay on way to ferry, its close to A16 and has plenty of secure parking.
- Chris (8/5): Good location & worth what we paid. - Good location for Dunkerque & the tunnel. Quite near what looked like a refugee camp though. Ideal for what we wanted it for which was a stay over to see Dunkerque on our way to Holland. Breakfast was good, rooms were adequate. Could do with modernising but with a 2 star rating, can’t grumble.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Easy access, clean, comfortable. We got very nice breakfast buffet included in our booking. Good interconnecting family rooms.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The hotel is clean . There is plenty of parking which is secured at night.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Friendly staff. Just dog poo you can see on way to reception.
Free wifi. Not that good.
Only french tv ch.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - The room has smell and the dog was letbut very close to the ferry dock
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Very kind and friendly staff and the hotel is close to Calais. Good value for money
- N (10/5): A great find! - I arrived around 8.00 pm. Very warm welcome at reception. I was delighted to find that the the hotel had a restaurant, so I was able to enjoy an excellent meal at a very reasonable price. The room was quiet and comfortable. I will definitely stay there again!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Great staff, always friendly and polite. The resident dog, is also friendly and welcoming. He also liked to run about with our dog. The only negatives are, there wasn't a kettle or other methods of making a drink in the room. Plus the wifi, which is free,is fast, but
- anthony (10/5): - We had a great stay here for one night, the staff are very helpful and very polite
- amanda (4/5): Easy to find not far from ferry port - We had stayed once before, and although there is no food available on a Saturday night, there is places just a short drive down the road. We didn't no that there was no staff after 10pm, you don't think about that when your travelling and concentrating on the roads, but this time we had arrived late, someone let us in the gate and hotel, but we couldn't get are key to are rooms as there was no staff around. Expedia bless there hearts found us a hotel 12 kilometres down the road, stayed on the phone until we could get google maps up and log into are notes to put details in, they was fantastic and i'm so glad there was someone on the other end of the phone to help us, otherwise we would of been sleeping in the reception although with the noise going off it would probably of been the car
- Geoff (6/5): Cheap and convenient, but... - WiFi Not available for at least 2 days. Mainlight in room (217) not working. some lights in corridor not working. Apart from this, it was convenient for the Autoroute to Calais and Dunkirk. About 5 minutes away by car from local shops and Pizzerias. Didn't try the breakfast or restaurant
- Peter (10/5): An excellent hotel 3 minutes from the A16 motorway - We a party of 5 used the Fasthotel Dunkerque as a base to visit northern Belgium and France, we were all impressed by the staff, cleanliness and the breakfast in the hotel, our only adverse comment would be that the restaurant was closed during our visit
- Michael (8/5): Good value - Ideal to get up early for Le Shuttle the following morning.
Friendly staff, easy check in and out. Soppy dog in reception.
WiFi only worked in reception.
- philip (8/5): - We enjoyed our stay here it’s simple but has everything u need for a 1/2 nights stay would prefer some sort of English speaking channel but not a must staff on checkin she was very nice and helpful and spoke a little English which was great for us thank you for your help
- Verified traveler (10/5): Good value - Great stopping off point before the ferry back to the UK. Clean hotel with a good continental breakfast. Staff very helpful.
- Phyll (6/5): Stopover hotel near Dunkirk - This hotel is convenient for the car ferry. It’s only about 6 mins drive and easy to find just off the A16.
- phyll (8/5): Hotel near A16 - A basic hotel with bar and restaurant, good for a stopover on way to Germany
- Verified traveler (10/5): Nice hotel - Excellent stop over for europe trip. Easy to get to from ferry.
- amanda (8/5): close to ferry port - easy to find but after a long journey had to go back out again for food
- George (8/5): Second time here, not the last - Great stop off for Dunkirk Ferry
- Jan (6/5): Basic but drab. Good bed and shower. - Ok for stopover but poor value for money. Dingy room with poor lighting, a stale smell and an unpleasant carpet. Room 218 overlooks a balcony of stagnant water and litter and window barely opens so not possible to freshen the air. Clean and comfortable bed. Clean bathroom and plenty of hot water. Restaurant. Pleasant staff.
- wilko (8/5): Very good hotel for Eurotunnel - Stayed one night on route back from Belgium before crossing via Eurotunnel. Nice walk in park nearby and staff very helpful and welcoming. Rooms were excellent. Only shame was no food or even vending machines available. Everything else was brilliant, particularly bearing in mind the price.
Breakfast was good and not overpriced.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Very Budget hotel. no tea coffee facilities . Small pillows. Fine for a night if you're just passing through .
- sue (10/5): - Good evening meal. Clean and comfortable accommodation
- pjwill (8/5): Hotel close to A16 - The location is ideal for stopover en route either to/from Dunkirk Ferry terminal.
The hotel staff are very good and the check in process is quick. The rooms are basic but good for a night. The free internet is good
- Iain (8/5): Good for stopovers - Excellent place to stay when you are heading to or from the port
- Chris (8/5): - An ideal rest over before travelling home , no issues.
- Shaun (8/5): For the price cannot complain - Booked for a bed only, to catch the ferry early the next morning. Room was clean. Bed was comfortable. Shower was powerful enough. Car park was secured by electric gate, with pass code entry/exit. I've stayed in nicer Motels in France, but for a bed and shower it was just what I needed
- Herbert (8/5): Excellent budget hotel - Very good hotel. Pity the restaurant was closed for a long period.
- Verified traveler (10/5): A perfect sleep - Exactly the type of hotel me and my family were looking for! Clean, easy access, good price, the kind of hotel you want if you only like a place to sleep. As a bonus breakfast was included which wasn't announced when booked.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Adequate - Stayed for two nights as a base. Restaurant closed apart from breakfast. Not the nicest area to go looking for alternative places to eat. Overall though good enough for what we needed.
- Franz (8/5): Practical hotel for short stay in Dunkirk - This is an unpretentious hotel. For me its main purpose is to have a reasonable place to sleep and eat prior to boarding the ferry next morning. Rooms to the back are fairly quiet, though to the front there will be a lot of noise due to the nearby motorway and access roads. The restaurant offers fair food at reasonable prices, staff are most helpful and the entire hotel is clean. My room was small but adequate for one night. The breakfast is average, typical French. Parking is free as is the wifi, which is slightly slow. All in all, a practical place.
- David (2/5): - We arrived at the hotel at 11pm and were unable to gain access. This left us with two small children and no where to sleep for the night. Eventually we managed to find alternative accomodation. I was less than pleased with this hotel.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Have stayed several times - it's basic, but very clean and functional. Quiet, despite closeness to motorway. Beds firm and comfortable. Don't expect all the frills because this is a budget hotel, what you get is a good night's sleep just a minute from the motorway exit, with quick no-fuss check-in and free secure parking. Roomy en-suite for a budget hotel, with powerful shower. Breakfast ('continental' style .....cold meats/cheese etc) is an optional extra (currently €6.50/about £5.80 a head) and a tad 'do it yourself' but saves time if you need to get underway fairly quickly next morning. There is a small bar and a limited number of evening dinners are served ('first come, first served') - no menu choice but a 3 course meal for just €16.50 (about £14.50).
- Dr Harold (6/5): Convenient location but overpriced. - Modern box. Good location and clean room. Overpriced for what is provided.
- Andy (8/5): Overnight stop-over - Nice experience. Hotel staff were welcoming and helpful. Facilities were good for a budget hotel and its location very accessible from the auto-route. A late arrival prevented us using the restaurant but good food options were just 5 minutes away, even on a Sunday evening. Probably first choice for future Dunkerque transits.
- paul (4/5): - Owner allowed dog to bark into the night right outside window
- holman (10/5): very accessible but look for the ibis sign - Great stop over , very clean and excellent value and staff .
- Fiona (8/5): Cheap, cheerful, brilliant burgers - The hotel is in an area of social housing and industrial buildings just off a motorway so only somewhere you'd want to stop over on business or travelling somewhere else, not somewhere to base your holiday. That said the rooms, though basic and very small, had everything necessary, excellent bathrooms, the restaurant was much better than we expected and the bar/outdoor seating very pleasant. For the money, it was an excellent hotel.
- Franz (8/5): Stop over in Dunkirk - The friendly receptionist put my freezer bricks for my car cool bag into the hotel freezer over night. If you sleep lightly, ask for a room to the rear as the front has a motorway access road passing by.
- Phyllis (6/5): Dunkirk stopover - We stayed in this hotel for one night before catching a ferry from Dunkirk. It is very easy to find, it is just off the A16 and about 10km from the ferry. There is a large car park which is gated during the night. We had an evening meal in the restaurant which was good. Its a clean basic hotel and is good value.
- Eszter (10/5): - Perfect for stopover.
- Brian (8/5): Excellent - Comfortable and clean.
- Maureen (6/5): Basic and functional - A basic hotel room. We only needed an overnight stop and it was fine for that.
- Sheila (6/5): Easy access to Ddunkirknport - Hotel was close and convenient to motorway from Dunkirk port. We were given .
instructions on how to get into the hotel if we were delayed past 10.00pm. However there was a slight misunderstanding on checkout out about payment- I had prepaid but the receptionist didn't seem to agree!
- Peter (6/5): Cheap as chips and does the job - You're only going to stay in a place like this for a single overnight going to / from the ferry - and it does that job well enough.
The bed was comfortable enough, and the bathroom ok apart from a broken door handle.
The room was (I thought) unbelievably small but I arrived after midnight so that wasn't a worry.
Finding the hotel in the dark wasn't easy, but maybe I'm a bit thick. There's no obvious lighting or signage as the staff all leave early but the email confirmation explains what to do.
I didn't have breakfast (charged extra) so checkout was dead simple. Give the man €1 each for tax and you're on your way. (He spoke EXCELLENT English btw, and was very friendly).
My one really big complaint was lack of air-con. You have to keep the window closed to shut out the noise of the motorway, and in hot weather that tiny room really becomes an oven.
Oh - and if you want to know how to get to it - take the driveway into the Inis Budget and turn left through a gate (with code) just before the Ibis gate.
- Verified traveler (8/5): A good hotel only 30 mins from the Channel Tunnel - Very clean rooms at an affordable price. Beds were comfy and bathroom facilities were good. Free secure car park and Free wi-fi. The bar and restaurant were closed for 3 weeks - which was a shame.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Give it a swerve if you can. - Bog standard. Cheap. Poor wifi.We found a large dog in reception chewing on a massive bone.
No tea making facilities.
Restaurant closed.
Scenic view of council estate and overgrown weeds.
Pillows were non existent.
Bathroom very clean.
5 miles from the port so very handy. A few miles out of town.
