Guest Reviews
- Valeria (10/5): - Nice
- Ronald (10/5): - great staff like family
- Anna (6/5): - They checked us into the wrong room and then they told us they were going to race, but they did not
- Alex (8/5): - Comfortable and clean, air conditioning works well, free breakfast, makes this great for the price. Close to the beach and convenient.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very comfortable room and plenty of space for our luggage. Clean room and comfy beds.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Great place to stay if you are playing around SJDS. Breakfast is great. The WIFI was annoying in the room we were staying in which kind of sucked.
- Edna (8/5): - It’s a small room, no rack to put luggages; requested chairs was privided. Bed was comfortable. Room had balcony; was raining most of the time so wasn’t able to enjoy it. Some loud noises in the area on some nights. Close to the beach and restaurants, convenient.
Breakfast choices can be modified. Tiresome to be eating the same especially when you’re there over 2 days. Staff were nice and helpful.
- John (10/5): - Enjoyed our one night stay here!
- Crystal (8/5): - Great location. Nice rooms, comfy bed. AC and hot shower.
The walls were thin though so if you are on the ground floor expect some noise from the street and the restaurant.
- zach (10/5): - Very safe spot with security all night. In my case the room was very clean. No bugs. Room #6 on the balcony. Very comfortable bed and pillows. I believe the rooms have newly been built so they're modern.theres a restaurant inside so food/drinks are always available. Breakfast was included and also very good. Stayed a Friday and Saturday night. All in all, no complaints 10/10. Will be back there on my next trip!
- Elizabeth (8/5): - Direction to property were poor. Facility was under construction and parking was hard to find. Room was clean and comfortable. We stayed one night.
- Tiffany (6/5): - I will start with the positive of El Caite which is its location - it’s very close to the beach, restaurants, and shops. We enjoyed the convenience.
The negative was our room had a broken door which let in warm air and noise. It’s a busy street. The room wasn’t very clean. The floor and bathroom had a lot of hair on it. I noticed a red stain (yikes) on one of the bath towels. Hot water was intermittent which is not uncommon for Nicaragua. I never felt like the staff was very friendly especially compared to other places in Nicaragua. Overall our stay was just OK. I think it was overpriced for what we got.
- ronald (10/5): - all good
- Liliana (8/5): - The rooms were comfortable. Breakfast was good. Near the beach and restaurants. No pool.
- Dazhir (10/5): - Perfect ! Book this hotel
- Rudy (8/5): - Too much light comes thru from the hallway, pitch black curtains would help a lot
- daphney (10/5): - Loved staying here especially **during a weekday** staff and guest were polite about the noise and respected closing time at the bar making it quiet after 9/10pm.
The restaurant is styled like a sports bar, it has great breakfast selections, not sure about lunch/dinner. The coffee options were 10/10. For a hostel it felt more like what tourist can expect at Hotels: clean sheets, comfortable bed/pillows, towels, great a/c, tv with apps, and your private bathroom.
Disclosure rollaway beds are not available here. There’s no parking but I had no issue parking my car on the street.
Overall I would stay here again, not sure how noisy it can get on the weekends considering other reviewers but like I mentioned that wasn’t an issue for me during the week.
- Marie (10/5): - This was a perfectly situated place to rest between long days at the beaches near by. Clean and comfortable beds. Loved having my own washroom and shower. Staff were super friendly and helpful. I will definitely stay here again.
- Fred (10/5): - Great location, comfortable beds, small bathrooms
- ronald (10/5): - all good like family stay there many times
- James (8/5): - The Caite hotel was formerly the “Barrio Cafe” and hotel. For about $40 per night including breakfast, you can’t beat it. The cafe and restaurant have excellent food, coffee and beverages. The rooms are clean, the beds are comfortable and the air conditioning is cold. I don’t spend much time in the room, so I don’t need more expensive accommodations. I have stayed the 3 times before and will stay there again.
- Daina (10/5): - This was a lovely little hotel right in the center of town, making it easy to reach every place in the area. My room was clean, comfortable and felt spacious enough to hang out in.
- Richard (10/5): - Very nice staff and comfortable beds! Great location to the beach.
- Rafael (10/5): - Very nice and clean small hotel with an excellent restaurant options and quality.
- ronald (10/5): - good location very clean great staff food very good
- Ronald (10/5): - good location and staff is great
- Suyen (10/5): - its a cute little hotel. with comfortables beds at the heart of San Juan del Sur and a good restaurant connected to it. They give you complimentary breakfast. I would stay again!
- SteveLockwood (10/5): - It was a nice place, great friendly staff, really good breakfasts, comfortable bed, plenty of hot water in the morning, close to the beach and very reasonably priced Cant say anything bad at all, well stay there again when I go back.
- Carla (10/5): Best of San Juan del Sur - Super fast check in, superb restaurant, great location, comfortable very clean room, hot water.
- Jason (10/5): Can’t beat it - Great location, rooms are above par, and at a great price, i would stay again 🙌
- Alyzon (8/5): Duvets?? - Good location. Didn’t get the room I wanted. Not sure why the hotel has feather duvet covers in this climate. The world is trying to save energy and you have to have the AC on all the time to sleep. Finally took the duvet out of the cover and just used that.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The downstairs restaurant was DELICIOUS and incredibly reasonable on prices. Open fairly late and a great open inviting feel at the bar.
The room was a decent size, noticed only two balcony decks connected to rooms, we had one but never needed it as the third story communal deck is a better view and has hammocks and hang out areas.
Would come back again, but also noticed other interesting hotels in SJDS that I’d like to experience as well.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The staff is super friendly. Rooms are very clean.
- Larry (8/5): - Security, cleanliness and service are top-notch. A home away from home for me.
- Nomad (10/5): - We enjoyed the hotel at Barrio Café. Extremely convenient if visiting San Juan Del Sur. The prices have great value for the rooms. Great access to surfing. Breakfast was very good, and I’m a picky eater.
We would book here again! Also the Margaritas were some of the best in Nicaragua!
- Verified traveler (8/5): Excellent & Hot Shower - Excellent Shower with hot water!
Excellent breakfast!
Super easy check-in & check-out
Info said room had 2 queen size beds, but they were only double, so a bit small.
- KELLY (10/5): - Great breakfast menu -we loved the decor slso. Very tastefully done.
- John (8/5): - No hassle check in, walked up reviewed the paper and checked into the room. 2 queen beds with A/C and a flat screen tv. Clean room.
Had to turn the toilet valve on to get water flowing.
- josue (10/5): Birthday trip San Juan del sur - Love this place it’s close to everything we ate at the hotel restaurant the girls were a little rude but other than that everything was amazing. The rooms are comfy with ac and the best part comes with complementary breakfast ..
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Lovely staff, great ambiance. Breakfast portions very large and delicious
- Verified traveler (10/5): - It was located just a block from the beach and near allot of shopping. The restaurant in hotlel was good. They need to add a shelf in bath and shower for toiletries. All elae good, oh, you have to ask for towels and linen change.
- Timothy (10/5): - Great place to stay. It seems a little odd at first because they’re basically a part of the cafe, but the rooms are very comfortable. Good wifi, lots of TV channels, strong AC and a fan too, comfy beds, good shower. And I got a free breakfast from the cafe with my room, which was probably the best meal of my whole trip. So good. There’s a security guard on site 24/7 so it’s very secure. I’ll definitely stay here again when I come back.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - great staff like family good food and location very clean
- Keryn (8/5): Comfortable room in great location - We arrived early after a long day of travel and were allowed to check in straight awsy which we really appreciated. The room was comfortable with good air con and in a great location. We would have preferred no second bed so there was more space though.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Simple hotel with delicious restaurant and lovely staff. Great location too. I had a great stay!
- Kristen (10/5): Nice locally owned hotel - I love that this hotel is owned and run by Nicaraguans. The room is exactly as advertised. The cafe has such a great menu and they give you free tokens for breakfast in the morning. Very centrally located which was perfect for me. Will definitely stay again.
- Monica (10/5): Great option for SJDS! - Such a great choice. Very comfortable beds, great AC, superb room service. Water pressure was moderate but was actually good after a long day in the sun. Breakfast options with the room were above average in regards to choice and amount of food compared to other local spots. Shaded veranda on the roof with hammocks was a great option for me in the AM while my husband slept. Highly recommend, we will return.
- Denise (10/5): San Juan Del Sur Vacation - Staff for the hotel and the cafe were professional and friendly.
- Andrew (10/5): Centrally located , all night security... great co - Really good food , not the least expensive in town ....
- Sarah (8/5): very clean - The rooms were a bit on the small side but very clean. A short 2 min walk to the beach. The restaurant on the mail floor had a fantastic breakfast and excellent coffee. The wait staff and desk staff were friendly.
- Casey (10/5): - Attached to a great restaurant. Quick walk to the beach and other bars! Very helpful staff.
- Alison (8/5): - Staff were really helpful and friendly. Fantastic location. Loved that it is local business - 100% Nicaraguan owned and staffed. Really comfy beds though with 2 queens in room, little other space. Great bathroom with storage, etc, My main issue is that it feels a bit money grabbing - breakfast included but you can only have one coffee, or are charged (US priced) for extra, and only the 3 cheapest options on menu, are allowed for hotel guests, everything is about tips and more tips (but that is also SJDS).
