Guest Reviews
- Sharon (8/5): GOOD STAY - Great location and parking. Very friendly staff. Beautiful bed linen and towels!! Much nicer than some much more expensive hotels I have stayed in. Big bathroom. Awful shower, lukewarm/cold, and literal drizzle of water.. A bedside lamp would be good rather than just a central light that you have to get out of bed to switch on/off
- Shorey (6/5): Budget stay so not high expectations but was better than I thought other than the door to room which would put me off st - Comfortable bed Door didn’t have a lock and didn’t appear to close properly had quite a gap which meant I didn’t feel safe. The bolt on the inside had been removed.
- carl (10/5): Excellent overnight stay - Great food and a nice pleasant stay
- carl (10/5): Perfect overnight stay - Nice service excellent food and drinks and nice Location.
- LISFER (4/5): -
- George (1/5): - The bed was comfortable though there was a slug on the duvet. The room is very small and outdated.
The bathroom needs ripping out, the shower water flow was weak there was no hot water.
The show and sink had black mould, the extractor fan didn't work. There was no shower mat and the shower was slippery when getting out, which isn't great when your freezing cold!
There is no reception and the staff inside the pub, dismiss any issues with the accommodation claiming it's separate despite them issuing the keys.
Check out maybe difficult if you need to leave early for work as the pub is locked until 10am making it impossible to return the key.
If staying on the ground floor be aware that there is alot of floorboard moving and noise from the upper floor.
When we stayed the fence in the carpark was down, a member of staff had to hold it up for me to enable me to park, the only problem with this was the following morning when I had to leave at 8am nobody was available to assist in leaving.
"Major breach of health and safety"
I complained through booking.com for some form of compensation they said the accommodation refused and as a gesture of goodwill booking.com gave me 13 pounds, what a joke!

- Jumratie (10/5): -
- Mary (8/5): Adequate. Good value for money - Nice pub with good selection of beers and ciders. Food was good too Shower wasn’t great. No water pressure. Bed and pillows uncomfortable
- Adrian (3/5): An experience not to be forgotten - Location to the fat duck was really good The room was dirty
Curtains didn’t meet so no privacy
Shower was a dribble and had human genital hair in it
1 coffee cup and 2 spoons for 2 people
- John (4/5): Would not stay there again - The breakfast was fine, location ok The stair to the room was like climbing up a ladder
The Tv did not work
The cold tap on the sink was leaking
toilet roll holder hanging off wall
Water pressure for shower very poor
Shower head very badly stained with lime scale
Bed way to hard like sleeping on a board
- Stacey Turner (5/5): Okay for a night - The staff were lovely. We had a really warm welcome on arrival and it was a painless check in. We also had dinner in the pub and it was delish. The bed has a memory foam mattress which felt like a valley of lumps.
Sound from the room above was distracting (although it was quite fun trying to guess what the occupiers were doing).
- Tapani (8/5): Todella viihtyisä. - Aamiainen on perinteisen hyvä. Juomavalikoima on hyvin kattava. Vesijohtojen kanssa oli hieman ongelmia, mutta asiaa korjataan.

- Natasha (9/5): - Loved are little stay was easy to find friendly staff the bed was comfy definitely stay again
- Austin (8/5): -
- Malcolm o’brien (1/5): Horrible. Worst experience I have ever had with booking.com. - It was close to a gym and a coffee shop so
I could have a shower and us the WiFi there because the shower was cold and slow at the hotel and the wifi did not work in my room and I had no phone signal Shower was cold and slow pressure. Window handle was broke and the window would not open, wi fi did not work in my room and I had no phone signal. I used a local gym to have shower.
Staff could not help with any of the issue and said they would raise it with the manager the next day. It was only a one night stay so that was no good for me.
- Michael (8/5): -
- Andrew (5/5): -
- Katie HO (7/5): Friendly staff - Staff were very friendly and helpful, great location. Quiet considering it was above a pub garden The room was very tired, in need of some maintenance, shower not great and some lights not working

- Claire (4/5): Disappointed and dirty - Room was dirty, I know it’s a cheap stay but you expect it to be clean, shower didn’t work just a trickle which was cold! Really needs a good clean
- Hester (6/5): Value for money - Location was convenient, the accommodation was adequate for for the price. V Steep stairs would challenge someone especially with more luggage than overnight bag
- Ross (10/5): -
- Suzanne (4/5): - The location for what I needed The shower was awful and hardly any water coming out and the room was dirty

- Baker (7/5): -
- Simon (7/5): - Convenient for what I needed Basic ( as expected) but shower was a little tired
- Simon (8/5): Perfect for a beer fans!! - The venue, was great if you like good beer and decent food! Parking was a little tight.
The room was a little musty, damp and dark.
It also needed a deep clean.
- Smart5 (10/5): - Good position for walking in to Maidenhead with bus stops close by. Room nice and warm and with good size TV. Decaf coffee. Very quiet even though public house next door. Free parking off road round the back. The room 3 we stayed in could do with a refresh, water on floor in bathroom after shower. Extractor fan dirty and not working. Toilet seat loose and fitted wrong as slid one side to the other. Bed been repaired on legs. No mattress protector or pillow protector. Bolt on door not fully fitted with screws not tightened. Mold on bathroom blind.
- Sandra (6/5): A little disappointing but, however, the pub/restaurant is lovely - Lovely pub, and food, and the location suited us really well. Extremely steep stairs to the room and really not very clean at all- linen and towels were clean. The shower hardly let any water out it was clogged up with limescale. Windows frames black with mould-really only a good clean needed!
- janet (7/5): - Breakfast was good
Staff friendly Rained into room
Bathroom needs a general update
- Maria (9/5): Cozy stay in the countryside - Very comfortable rooms in a quiet location. The staff are very helpful and friendly, the pub is very atmospheric. Great value for money. It was very cold in the bathroom and the water was warm, not hot.
- arun84mys (8/5): Nice stay with great staff and a convenient location. Fixing the shower would make it an excellent e - Staff were great. The shower didnt have hot water and would clog soon.
- Nicola (3/5): Whilst we slept well as the bed was reason comfy , I have to say the rooms need some serious work . The cleaning was pre - Well located Not clean and very poor plumbing
- Lisa (8/5): Handy place to stay - Location, quiet room, dog-friendly, pub food Mattress uncomfortable
- arun84mys (6/5): -
- Daniel (8/5): - It was convenient location, friendly staff and great for getting something to eat/drink until pretty late. So quite convenient. There is no water provided or toiletries like shampoo/body wash.
- Petru Lucian (8/5): -
- Shelton (8/5): - Well located; friendly, helpful staff; excellent value
- Balaji (6/5): -
- Robin (9/5): -
- Marius (8/5): -
- Jessica (10/5): -
- Helen (4/5): Such a shame as all was good apart from the accommodation - The location and food was nice The room. Bathroom floor was dirty. Shower line scaled and water came out only from the middle.
Lino was dirty/moldy around the shower and floor was dirty around the toilet
- Paul (1/5): Awful - Only the bar. Great selection of real ales. The rooms are dreadful. This would not pass as a cheap student accommodation. The mattress must have been changed just after the war. The shower head doesn’t look as if it’s been cleaned in decades.
- Lisa (7/5): Lovely friendly staff. Excellent breakfast - The breakfast was great. Extra to cost of room. But really tasty. I had an all day muffin and partner had a build your own. The pub next to accommodation was lovely great staff. Good beer. Sunday roast and other foods available till 9pm. Lovely

- Amelia (10/5): - There was a lovely blonde lady that worked behind the bar and checked us in made us feel welcome and told us all the good special deals and food was good
- nickyboy (10/5): - All good 👍🏻 There is nothing I didn't like

- Tom (10/5): -
- susan (7/5): - Really good value for money, basic but comfy. Good food, and a really friendly helpful team. Convenient location, free parking, surprisingly quiet. The bed was small but comfy. Heating was hard to regulate, and the shower wasn't great. The showerhead was a bit leaky and the water was warm fading to tepid. But it was a budget price.
- Alan (9/5): Excellent would stay again and recommend - Friendly staff and great food
- scott (7/5): - Great friendly staff good food and drink selection in the pub
The lovely lady who was working on Tuesday when we arrived early checked us in even tho we were really early
Location is perfect for town and surrounding area. Think the cleaner missed under the bed and on the bed shelf.
As it was covered in dust unfortunately

- Matt (3/5): -
- Gareth (9/5): - We had an event in central London that evening so the location worked brilliantly for us. It was a short walk to the station and an hour on the train saved us paying for accommodation in the city! Pub was nice popped in for a drink before we jumped on our train. Had a nice breakfast in the morning before we left. Great value for money at £63 for the night! Only real issue was the shower pressure was awful.
- Jayden (6/5): -
- Sandra (8/5): Lovely stay and would certainly return. - Good food at a good price. VERY steep stairs upto the bedroom which we were informed of via reviews and hotel website but just weren't expecting that steep.
- jonard (10/5): -
- Willy (7/5): A no frills stay with extremely kind staff. - Arrived late and was warmly greeted by the pub staff. Even made us a portion of chips after the kitchen had taken last orders - really exceptional care! All in all, a no frills stay with everything you’d need. But do keep in mind if booking a room that says steep stairs - they mean it!
- Phil (8/5): - Great pub too with excellent real ales and really good breakfast.
- John (8/5): Nice property Staff very good - Breakfast ok Everything was ok
- david (6/5): For under fifty quid a night, it’s probably priced right. Decent shower or bath would have been good. But as a base for - The pub is a nice pub selling lovely food with nice staff who couldn’t be more helpful. Bed was comfortable and the heating excellent on some very cold nights Steep stairs up to the room are a bit dangerous.
The sink and the shower drains were blocked and the shower was not great. Only had 4 teabags for the whole week and these were not replaced, probably had to get them myself from the pub but just bought some. Breakfast starts at 8am but I had left for work before then. Imagine it would have been nice coz the dinners were lovely
- herbert (6/5): PLEASANT ACCOMODATION - THE PUB IS VERY PLEASANT WITH HELPFUL STAFF
BREAKFAST IS AVAILABLE FROM 8AM WHEN ARRANGED WITH STAFF
ROOM ON GROUND FLOOR IS NICE
PUB FOOD GOOD BATH ROOM NEEDS BIT OF ATTENTION (TOWEL RAIL TOILET SEAT AND GLASS SHELF ARE LOOSE)
SHOWER HEAD NEEDS REPLACING
A FAN HEATER COULD BE PROVIDED AS ROOM CAN BE COLD
- Katherine (8/5): - Clean, convenient and friendly staff. We waited an hour after ordering our breakfast for it to be served to us.
- Andrew (10/5): Fantastic - Very friendly and clean Clean
- Sarah (7/5): -
- janet (7/5): Nice friendly hotel - Nice hotel
Early breakfast can be arranged
Friendly staff
Good food in pub Bathroom needed a bit of attention to shelves etc
- sharon (10/5): Great pub - Great value, clean comfortable and great food and selection of drinks in pub There was nothing to find fault in it was all great. Value for money, friendly staff very helpful
- Jessica (10/5): -
- James (10/5): Good pub food great selection of beers comfortable bed - Basic but everything you need All good
- Araka (2/5): I liked my stay but the showers were cold. The normal taps were hot enough though. The bed was also comfortable and clea - I liked the location The shower was cold
- Billy (8/5): -
- Norman (4/5): We were surprised that the room was not serviced on Christmas day - no breakfast no coffee nothing. - The waitress was lovely, polite and charming The breakfast (when operating) was disappointing - after a long wait the poached eggs for all dishes were hard.
- Goldie (10/5): A definite find - Have family in maidenhead and always choose to stay here the rooms are clean and value for money , beds are comfy. Staff are always amazing and food and drink never fails to impress Not a thing
- John (7/5): Apart from the morning noise- very good - Location & staff 7.30am builders starting work in the room directly above my room.
- GarethJohn (10/5): -
- raymond (8/5): - Great pub with brilliant atmosphere and staff, excellent food at reasonable prices
- Butcher (6/5): Great staff, great pub but shabby, poor quality rooms - The staff were lovely and really helpful. The pub was lovely and cosy. Fabulous location. Not much traffic noise, despite being on a main road. The rooms are in a block separate to the main building. They are quite shabby and not a great construction. We were on the ground floor, which felt quite vulnerable as the build quality felt like an internal room but with direct external access.
We were woken up by the occupants of the room above us going up the stairs (with their non resident friends) like a herd of elephants. We could hear them moving around and talking for around half an hour. Then there was banging on their door as the cab had arrived. The herd of elephants left but we could still hear the occupants talking for around another 30 minutes.
I hate to leave this review because the staff were so lovely, but I would not choose to stay here again.
- Julio (6/5): -
- Mark (7/5): Perfect for a short stay for a meeting or party. - The locality and the good range of beer. Just a bit lacking in that je ne sait quoi.
- Billy (8/5): Basic rooms run by lovely people - Very friendly and accommodating staff. The room itself has seen better days but really nothing that would stop you using it and getting a good rest for a short stay. It's a low cost room and you get what you pay for at the end of the day.
I was seeing friends in Maidenhead and It cost me the same to book this room as it would have for a return train ticket. For that cost I had a decent sized room, accessed by my own doorway and stairs, free parking space right outside , generous supplies of tea and coffee and a warm room with actually a pretty peaceful location. Absolutely perfect for my purposes and I would 100% stay here again next time.
- Claire (8/5): The pub was lovely, friendly locals and staff.food outstanding and good choice of ales. . - Close to venue
Pub was lovely, great food, very accommodating staff, and you can get breakfast in the morning ... perfect The property could have done with a hoover and hair in the sink.
