Guest Reviews
- Jefferson De (6/5): - Was too bad but needs some upgrades
- Gladys (8/5): - Pros: Room was clean and spacious. Breakfast was good.
Cons: hot water wasn't hot it barely got to lukewarm and TV never worked even when they sent someone to check on it. Ended up using my own accounts.
- Jose (10/5): - Todo bien
- Claudia (6/5): - I feel bias doing this review, but I think it is important to let people know.
If you are considering this hotel, there are few things I would like to share.
-The place is clean, and basic, very basic.
-Breakfast is good with 5-7 -choices.
-If you are traveling from a very cold place like me, you feel dehydrated all the time. There are not ice machines avaliables. You need to ask for ice water every time. They will bring it.
-There are no coffeemakers, neither minibars. If you are a heavy coffee drinker, they do not have coffee makers. I have to buy a mini one just for these days.
They provided a minibar when I asked.
If you ask front desk for something, they try hard to help you.
Also, be aware...When I checked out, the lady said that my towels had a stain. This was possible because I had removed my make.up the night before with the towel. The receptionist said that I had to pay for them. I refused explained that those stains were makw up that will be washed out ofter washing. Thw receptionist wanted $30.00! I told her that I was not paying that p
Much.
She said ahe needed to charge $30.00
I got upset, thats outrageous, I did not have money for that since I only had to pay the taxi.
I told her you have my card info you can charge them there. She said it needed to be cash.
I told her I was not pating that much and left.
- Maribel (4/5): - El lugar inseguro.
Las habitaciones antiguas, las toallas curtidas, el estacionamiento sucio y da miedo, ect…No es lo que se ve en la página.
- Priann (10/5): - Everything was just perfect, they took care of us. The bedroom, and bathroom was clean I feel very good.
- Eddie (6/5): - La atención fue relativamente buena. Los sectores cerca del hotel no son muy buenos. El estacionamiento es pequeño, seguro, pero huele muy mal. El desayuno no es buffet, pero es bueno.
- Yira (10/5): - Really nice place and the people work there too very nice I can said best the best !!!
- JULIO ROCELIO (10/5): - Precio accesible, buena ubicacion
- Randal (8/5): Not bad at all - Good, inexpensive and free breakfast!
- Heather (10/5): - I enjoyed this little hotel on the rooftop
- kio (4/5): - We didn't like the area. Hotel is acceptable
- Nadine (10/5): - Personnel sympathique et efficace. Hotel agréable et bien situé. Adresse à retenir.
- Graciela (10/5): - Transportation breakfast are excellent the ruff tap and the area so so. If you haven’t been brook yhis good for you
- DANIEL OMAR (6/5): good - good
- Le Andre (2/5): - WiFi poor hot water poor help poor
- Le Andre (2/5): - I got food poison the 2nd day after I eat from the restaurant and was so sick my trip the hot water was always a problem I spend 12 days and got hot water 4 out of the 12
- Darrell (2/5): - Normally I give you 5 stars. My last visit was a nightmare. The staff is amazing but that night it was horrendous. I had spent about 30 days at the hotel over a 5 week period. It was awesome. My last stay I asked for a double room. I had a 18month old with me. We received a 1 bed hotel with no air conditioning. We arrived around 8:30pm. We didn’t get into our room until 2am. The bell boys were awesome but they were helpless. No apologies. No free meal. Nothing. I spent well over $1000 and got nothing. Not even an I’m sorry. It is a shame because I had just referred some Amaericsn friends.
- Darrell (10/5): - Good
- jenny (6/5): Good hotel - The hotel is decent and for the price not bad. The neighborhood is a little dicey and I don’t recommend walking around the hotel. Service was nice, rooms were comfy, breakfast was included. There was hot water some of the time, no hairdryers available, but overall a really good deal. It’s central to everything if you take uber.
- Eder Alirio (6/5): - Zaona muy ruidosa e insegura
- Darrell (10/5): - Great property
- Estefani (10/5): - This is my third time staying at this hotel, overall the staff make the hotel a better place. Looking forward coming back again. Thank you!
- Ramakrishna (10/5): - Breakfast was very good. Overall staff is very welcoming.
- Estefani (10/5): - Love the staff definitely will be coming back.
- Estefani (10/5): - Love coming to this hotel
- Clifton (8/5): - My wife’s friend came over on the last night and they had dinner and she suffered food poison! I know it’s probably a fluke, but it happened
- Kenneth (10/5): - My wife and I always have an enjoyable stay at the Hotel Caribe.
The room is very nice, large, and cleaned daily.
The staff is very friendly, courteous, helpful and professional.
We will continue to stay at the Hotel Caribe on our trips to Panama City.
Thank you.
- Kemona (8/5): - The staff were top notch! Super helpful & nice, especially Javier, he spoke good enough English & was extremely helpful. We stayed for a night & I enjoyed my stay, I would stay here again. Upon arrival we got complementary cocktails. We walked across the street to a large supermarket & was able to get phone chargers, water and snacks. We also purchased hot dogs & juice from the street vendors outside, it was a great local experience for us. We later had dinner at the hotel, the food was bomb! Definitely a 9/10 (fish & plantains with salad). The hotel offers breakfast for free for 2 & although breakfast starts serving at 7am, we were able to get breakfast before we leave at 5:30. We had to-go plates waiting for us at front desk with our room number on it. We were very appreciative and we look forward to staying here again when we visit Panama. The only negative for me is the neighborhood isn’t the best kept, the rooms we paid for was suppose to have 2 Queen beds but we only had 1 twin & 1 double, I didn’t complain, we just took it since we got complimentary drinks & free breakfast & we didn’t expect that. Also, I was hoping the room had a fridge & it didn’t but we weren’t there that long, it was just an overnight. We stayed for a layover flight in Panama.
- Estefani (10/5): - The staff is very friendly. I will be returning back again to this hotel.
- Stacey (10/5): - Great staff, very helpful and kind!
- Joseph (8/5): - The only issue I had with the room was the shower drain. The water didn’t go down and I had to stand in a puddle of my own filth lol but seriously gross
- Kevin (10/5): - Buena atención, me gustó, super mercado cerca y fácil acceso a los transportes
- Kenneth (10/5): - Every time my wife and I are in Panama City, we always stay at the Hotel Caribe.
We are happy to spend our time there with such a friendly staff.
Priscilla, at the front desk, knew we were coming, and had a refrigerator all ready waiting for us in our room. How cool was that.
The bellmen team of Dioneil and Weeber are top knotch, helping with luggage, getting ice, and always opening the front door with a friendly hello, and how are you.
The free breakfast is great with coffee, fruit , pancakes and eggs.
So must better that just coffee, and a donut.
We also enjoy the roof top pool, it's view of the City, and Pacific Ocean.
There is a restaurant up there. With good food, friendly service, and a free welcome cocktail.
All in all, the Caribe is a great place to stay while in the City for medical appointments and shopping.
The is a 5 floor Department Store, the Machetazo with a supermarket across the street that's open 24 hours. Perfect for late night necessaties.
We are looking forward to our return to the City and the Hotel Caribe in August, for another 5 ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ stay.
Thanks .
- Pedro (10/5): Good location - Excellent close to everything only don’t walk around just take Uber to go thanks
- Edwin Alexander van (10/5): - Centrally located, good bed and very friendly and helpful staff.
- Yanitza (10/5): - Segura
- Micheline (10/5): - goed personeel, vriendelijk. lekker ontbijt en betaalbaar. levendige omgeving
- Marco (10/5): - Buen servicio
- Laura (8/5): - Bien
- LUIZ (6/5): - Foi uma experiência boa.
- James (8/5): - Decent hotel, friendly staff the room was dated basic water pressure was not great but ok. Redeemable qualities breakfast was great best to get it included, decent pool size on the roof top and get a nice view of the city beautiful night view of the city. Not glamorous but if affordable is what you looking for it’s good for the price. Location not great at night to walk around but daytime no problem.
- Edwin (10/5): - Friendly staff and nice central in the city. Great bed and good price for food. Nice swimming pool with bar.
- Niall (6/5): - This is a nice budget hotel. It is about a 20min walk to Casco Viejo. However, the area surrounding it is ghetto. Im 6ft and 260lbs so i didnt run into any issues. There were quite a few homeless people in the area with lots of garbage on the streets. Dont be surprised if you see people actively using narcotics or prosititutes in the area. Aside from all of that, its about a 5 min walk to the main promenade. There is a loveoy bakery close by, lots of fruit stalls and a chewp supermarket. Lots of other street stalls close to buy clothes, hats, things like that. The staff were 10/10 for sure. Thr included breakfast is small but itll get you by for a couple hours. The rooftop pool is amazing. The blast the music very loud, i had to ask them to turn it down so i could actually relax and read a book and they were quite receptive to it. Overall id likely return as the price is right and its close to what i need.
- Kenneth (10/5): - Hotel Carib is our favorite place to stay in Panama City
Friendly staff, roof top pool, and sunset dinners.
Big beds, clean rooms, and even a small fridge if you ask for one.
Free breakfast and a welcome aboard cocktail at the pool bar
It's right across the street from a 5 floor department store and supermarket.
El Machetazo for all your shopping needs.
We'll always keep coming back.
Ken & Debbie Filina
- Robert (10/5): - The Pool has amazing Views. Shower has hot water, free Wi-Fi.
- Giselle (10/5): - I like all, excellent
- Jane (8/5): - I have mixed views about the Caribe, the staff were excellent and friendly and the place clean. The hotel is in an ok location and it's very easy to travel to major sights by taxi for just a few dollars. On the down side the hotel had a few issues. Eg we had a blocked sink. However this was dealt with quickly. When our Aircon broke down we were moved roms.
The restaurant is ok but I would like to have seen more local dishes on the menu. Breakfast was included and that was fine.
The hotel appears to be undergoing an upgrade as some rooms were being refurbished. This didn't disrupt our stay of 9 nights
The roof terrace and pool were good for relaxing in the evenings and served delicious cocktails for very reasonable cost. I think in summary a nice hotel with lovely staff but in need of a bit of updating, it felt quite 80s. I would stay again
- Suwalee (8/5): - Very good price 👌
- Stacey (10/5): - I always stay here when I’m passing thru the city. Affordable! The staff are friendly and the rooftop view is phenomenal! Really delicious, very complete breakfast that’s included with the stay. So nice also to have the restaurant for when we’re too tired to go out after a big day! Thanks Hotel Caribe! Hasta próxima vez!
- Kenneth (8/5): A night in Hotel Caribe - Friendly and hopefully staff. For my stay, I was in walking distance of carnival. plus.
- Glenn (10/5): - Rooftop pool and barbecue. Friendly staff
- Dana (8/5): - Nice hotel, spacious room. I didn’t like the wifi. My room had on and off wifi. I had to go to reception area to call an Uber to airport.
- Denise (6/5): Barebones - Bare bones hotel. The restaurant for dinner was not very good and we traveled with 10 people. No one really liked their food. The distance to Casco Viejo was a long walk but doable. If you are in Panama for one night and want to go to casco viejo, stay closer to it. We were also about 30 minutes from PTY airport.
- Sophie (4/5): - Staff couldn’t find my reservation from Expedia when I arrived. Area around the hotel is very dodgy at night (from perspective of young uk woman on first night in Panama). Noisy all night with music from empty rooftop bar and general street noise, even 10 floors up.
- Jossling Daniel Jaen (8/5): - Pool was under maintenance so nothing to do about it, the second day got very noise guest next door that party all night with high music and nothing was done to stop this, the place is located near a supermarket, police station and fire station and has a great view.
- Edwin (10/5): - Nice hotel, great staff. I stayed 3 weeks with no problems. As I am going blind the staff was patient with me. Help me with transportation when I needed it. Had a great stay and will stay again when I come back to Panama City.
- Karen (8/5): Great service, very clean and comfortable! - Does the outer worlds a little bit older and the service was excellent Don't worry be with you are very close to the market for pull and services.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Low cost - you get what you pay for. - A place to sleep and take a hot shower. The free breakfast was not that great. They couldn't find the remote to my air conditioner, so no adjustment to temperature available. Very small TV. The best part of the stay were the staff that worked there. Super friendly and tried to help whenever possible.
- Jacqueline (2/5): - This property is nothing like it shows online, parking lot is scary, spooky. The area is terrible, the AC don't even work, there rooms were dusty and not clean properly.
- Brad (8/5): It's OK for the $ - This could have been five stars. I rate hotels by giving me what I expect. A first-class top-of-the-line Hotel can get one star from me and a standard hotel with a little bed to sleep on at night with a community bathroom can get five stars. It is definitely a hotel for Panamanian Nationals. That's what I expected. I didn't want to stay someplace that made me feel like I was in Orange County Kalipoяиia. There's almost always someone at the door to open it when you walk in which is kind of nice. The check in was very easy and they had a person take my bag up to my room for me. Nice touch. The street is a little rough at night I wouldn't suggest walking around by yourself. During the day out on the street it's kind of hectic sort of like Tijuana. I'm hoping it was from my stroll around town and not the room but my arms got attacked and I'm not joking they're easily 50 bites on them. The room was Spartan and had dim lights and stupid bright lights and nothing in between. There was no chair. Other than that it was completely what I thought I was getting, a queen-size bed and it was nice to sleep on, everything was clean inside, bathroom had nice hot water with decent pressure.
I really enjoyed the Rooftop Bar albeit it was very simple. But that was reflected in the price of the drinks. I had at least one too many drinks and I only spent $17!
The free breakfast was the most dismal I've had included with a room here in Panama. The pancakes were good but they had fake butter, the s
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The food was awful. The pool was empty until the day before we left. The airport shuttle never picked us up but tried to charge anyway.
- Diana (6/5): - I didn't like the location .
- Christopher (10/5): - The hotel is in the middle of the city - halfway between the old town and halfway between the new town and skyscrapers. The old town is roughly a 20 minute walk. There is a metro stop about 10 minutes walk away. The 11th floor open air pool is nice, but only 3 feet deep. The rooms are sparse, but as this is the tropics, that is probably for the best. Heat and carpet do not mix. The water is hot, the bed is clean and there is slot machine casino on the ground floor. The complimentary breakfast is cooked to order as well. All in all, I would stay here again. You do have to like walking though.
- Tim (8/5): - Rooms are spacious and wifi is working. If you think booking a hotel with breakfast is a good idea, consider that here they give per breakfast only a small cup of tea or coffee. It is not sufficient.
- Daniel (6/5): El Caribe - The weather was amazing. The staff was for the most part friendly, helpful but I wouldn't say there were sppt on. The neighborhood is dangerous at night.
- Mark (10/5): - When making reservations, i did not see an area to change from ONE person to Two (my wife), and upon checing into the hotel, they doubled the room rate. Probably my mistake for missing the link on guests staying, but to double the cost seems excessive. Still a great view, clean, and great service at the hotel. I will be staying there again.
- Brian (10/5): Birthday Stay - Was welcomed with a cocktail as soon as we arrived. The breakfast was very nice. The location was great. The staff was friendly. We would definitely stay again.
- Neyla (8/5): -
Good hotel for the price paid
- Harlan Morgan (6/5): - Staff friendly and helpful. Food was ok but hotel is old needs some upgrading. However for the price it can't be beat.
- FLOR DE MARIA (6/5): - Convenience location. The area isn't the best one. I think what i paid it was expensive. Every time i was opening my room it smelling old , the bathroom it was even worse.
- Alfredo (10/5): - The hotel is in a good area and great price .
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Had a central city location and relatively close to Casca Viejo and other attractions
- Michael (8/5): Good value - Good clean accommodations. Nice breakfast! Helpful staff.
- Shanice (10/5): - It’s good
- Mark (8/5): - Nice hotel for the price. Clean room. Nothing fancy. Good wifi.
- Charles (6/5): Basic room - The room was a nice size, clean, with a comfortable bed. Very basic only two towels, a sheet, and a light comforter. The room needed to be updated. In addition, the area is very noisy. The breakfast selection was limited but good.
- Moises (8/5): - Exelente hotel, cómodos precios, habitación con muy buena higiene y buena atención al cliente.
- Allie (4/5): - We booked 2 queen beds for 3 people, breakfast was supposed to be included but we were only given two breakfast coupons so had to pay for the third breakfast despite proving that we had booked for 3 people. I asked to speak to a manager but was told there wasn’t one. We were also given a room that had one queen and one twin bed. The room was tired but okay. The doorman was great. They did bring ice to the room when we asked if there was any.
- Mark (8/5): - The price was excepional. Upon checking in the front desk gave me two vouchers for free cocktails and two vouchers for morning breakfast ! The room was clean and very adequate for our short stay. The rooftop bar staff was super friendly and the views of the city were fantastic. Even a nice rooftop swim pool!
- Lynne (10/5): Excellent Value - Excellent value for money. Good location for Miraflores locks, the old historical centre and bus terminal/metro. Breakfast adequate and evening meals were of good portions. Friendly helpful staff and very good WiFi on the 10th floor. Good views of Panama City from the roof top bar and swimming pool.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - breakfast choice was limited , also it would be nice to have ice buckets
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The luggage rack was very helpful for us with our large amount of suitcases.
- Clifton (10/5): - I would definitely recommend this hotel and I will be staying there again.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great friendly hotel with pool and roof terrace. Superb views of the city and good transport links.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Nothing fancy but adequate -a few employees did English ok but not all but that is common-all very pleasant
- Verified traveler (4/5): Stay Away - No water one day, then no hot water the other day. One elevator only worked for three days.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Good place for a quick stay. - This hotel was up to our standards. The service was excellent and the room was just as described. The rooftop pool area is really cool with some good views. We weren't there long but went up there to check it out. It was a perfect place for us to stay for the first night of our trip. Only negative could say is that the area isn't the best area in town but we felt safe the entire time.
- Stan (4/5): Much better hotels exist elsewhere, for cheaper - For the same price or less, there are much nicer, cleaner, newer hotels to be found just a bit farther down the metro line (e.g. around Iglesia Carmen, Via Argentina, etc) in safer areas.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Standard $40 Room/ no balcony as advertised - The hotel is in a sketchy neighborhood but very close to the nicer areas. Wouldn’t recommend walking around at night. Checking in was slow process because she couldn’t find our reservation. The listing advertises balcony but the balcony is not in the room, rather at the end of the hallway. Condition of room is old but clean. Bottom line— you get what you pay for. It’s a standard $40 room. No frills. No English speaking channels. It did have a working AC, clean sheets and hot water aka the basics!
- Verified traveler (8/5): Good value for the price - It was good value for the money. Don't expect North American standards but, the staff was friendly and some spoke a little English, it was clean, we enjoyed the pool and the internet connection was good. Overall we enjoyed our stay here.
- Rupesh (2/5): Very rude and Rigid ! - We were denied stay on pretext of hotel full. We are not happy.
- Luz (8/5): Comfortable hotel in a decent location - Expedia chose this hotel for me so I wasn't sure what to expect, but we were pleasantly surprised. The beds were huge with firm mattresses and fluffy pillows. Linens and towels were clean. The AC was nice and cold--so cold that we had to turn it off for about an hour in the middle of the night. The shower had excellent water pressure and the water was refreshingly room-temperature. (A tip: leave the bathroom door closed overnight. The heat warms up the towels so that when you step out of the shower you can wrap yourself up in cozy warmth.) The TV and cable were easy to control and there were plenty of channels with which to entertain ourselves, though we only watched TV for a couple of hours. Also, there was plenty of storage space in the room, though we did not use it.
The hotel is located only a few blocks from the Coastal Beltway, a jogging trail along Avenida Balboa. The neighborhood didn't seem the safest, but Calle 28 houses both a police and a fire station, and there is a pedestrian bridge nearby for safe crossing of the Avenida. Across the street from the hotel is a huge department store called El Machetazo, and there are a few restaurants nearby, including a reasonably-priced 24-hour diner next door to Hotel Acapulco on Calle 30.
The pool was closed for "renovations" and our complementary breakfast only included two people, but the $5 for our third guest included eggs, sausage, a pancake, bread, cheese, fresh fruit, juice, and coffee. Breakfast service was great!
- I'm a bus drive (8/5): Nice hotel for the money is good - only thing I didn't like was the food but the view from the hotel was beautiful
- Ann B 82 (8/5): Good overnight stay - I have to appreciate how helpful the staff was. The lady at the counter went out of her way to help me out with the place as I was new here.. All my concerns were taken care of immediately. The hotel stay was good but nothing extraordinary (okay for the price) but the cordial staff made it so special. Great Service!
- Verified traveler (8/5): Perfect for Our Brief Stay in Panama City - We stayed here one night on a layover between landing in Panama City and flying to Bocas. It is reasonably close to Albrook Airport, and in a reasonably comfortable part of the city. The hotel itself feels safe. Our room was perfectly clean and comfortable enough given the cost. I would recommend Hotel Caribe as a place to layover, but not necessarily for a long stay.
