Joris (8/5): - Rustige ligging, groot domein. Ons verblijf, huis met een geschiedenis karakter lag helemaal aan de andere kant van het grootte huis op het domein. Vriendelijke eigenares, goeie wandeltips ontvangen. Filmtip was de moeite waard. Ligging zo'n 2km van centrum van Te Anau. Voor ontbijt hadden we wel iets anders verwacht. Kregen wel brood, fruit, melk, yoghurt, eieren .... maar geen gedekte tafel. Dat was wel spijtig.

Passer une soirée et une nuit dans ce train dans lequel l'histoire a été conservée et la modernité ajoutée avec discrétion a été un moment que nous garderons précieusement dans notre mémoire. The beds were very comfortable and the house was set up perfectly for our family to enjoy. Breakfast was farm fresh eggs, yogurt, fresh fruit and homemade jams with crumpets and toast. Close enough to town to enjoy a coffee from the Milton Merchant :) Kym was a lovely hostess and gave us local knowledge and suggestions :) excellent value :)

Yun (10/5): Beautiful place to stay in Te Anau - Comfortable bed and clean rooms with delicious breakfast. Beautiful surroundings near the lake.
Khaled (10/5): - Very friendly staff. Very hospitable — you truly feel at home. Fresh air and a decent view. Clean room. Great variety of amenities (ping pong, chess, library, piano, etc.). Incredibly generous — they provide a wide variety of cookies, tea, coffee, milk, and even soft drinks all day long. The room is cleaned daily, and towels are changed without even needing to ask. The hosts genuinely go the extra mile to make your stay as enjoyable as possible. No mosquito nets on the windows. It would be great if they installed them to prevent flies from getting in. I had a couple of flies in the room — it was manageable to get them out, but having a net would not only keep flies away, it would also give peace of mind.
Grant (10/5): Perfect launching point for a trip to Milford Sound - Fabulous grounds and setting, beautifully restored old convent building with period woodwork, stained glass windows in the dining room, and a very cozy library room, and fantastic breakfast included.
Hilda (9/5): Good Stay - It is a beautiful lodge and a great location. The staff is very friendly and welcoming. Overall it felt clean enough. The breakfast is sufficient. The room was very small. There is no room for luggage. I did not like the carpet. It felt old and not clean enough. Perhaps it is because of the color. There are not mosquito nets in front of the bedroom windows. When you open the windows sandflies come in during the day and mosquitoes at night. One also has to walk through the kitchen to get to any other place in the lodge.

Jane (8/5): Nice place to stay - Very homey. The reception was fantastic. Breakfast (which is included) was very tasty. The shower was fantastic! The room was small and no ability to make coffee and tea in the room.

Elizabeth E Cowan (10/5): A place you'll want to call Home - Freshly baked cookies on arrival, relaxed atmosphere of place made it feel like you were staying in someone's comfortable home. Loved the library with tea and more cakes, the expansive lawn with the chess and table tennis in a gazebo, and the fact house used to belong to the Sisters of Mercy, so plenty of ecclesiastical touches. Kym is so welcoming, and obviously works very hard to make her guests feel at home. That we couldn't stay another night!

Susan (9/5): Short and pleasant stay. - The large house was great. We had a very nice greeting and breakfast was ready early. The table tennis table in the conservatory was good fun. . The cabin was in need of refurbishment.
Judith (3/5): Expensive disappointment - Staff were friendly. Nice biscuits! Our accommodation was the converted railway carriage in the grounds which was recommended in our copy of lonely planet. It was not clean - rubbish left in the bin, huge cobweb on inside window and one of the mugs was chipped. Light switch over bed didn’t work and of the two torches supplied, one didn’t work at all and the other phased in and out since the batteries were visibly corroding. The wooden panelling etc was beautiful and the potential of th carriage huge, but it was clearly several years since it had been renovated and the curtains, paintwork on inside, etc were just tatty. It was supposed to be a premium experience and priced as such but just felt like a huge disappointment.

Lynnette (3/5): Our room despite being noisy was clean & comfortable. - Good location & staff were helpful and friendly. We stayed in a room downstairs called the Music room. It was noisy ie: the floors were timber throughout the lodge & you could hear toilets flushing, showers & loud foot steps.

Dan (7/5): Great regional B&B - This was a very nice place to stay in the region. You can walk to the restaurants and shops and the lake. It's a great place to stay overnight on your way to or from Milford sound. We had a very comfortable room and bed and the breakfast had good selections. Nothing fancy about this place just comfortable

STEVE C D (8/5): Want a good nights sleep in a busy tourist town. Sleep here.Try the carriage for something different - Stayed in the railway carriage and loved it. Comfy bed, and the carriage set up altho a bit worse for wear felt like stepping back in time so a nice experience. Also set in park like grounds so it was quiet. Lodge was an old convent complete with confessional box. Good breakfast. Note to owners. Carriage needs good block out curtains.

Harold (7/5): Overrated based on our experience, but maybe other rooms are better? - It’s quirky. Wish we had more time to learn about the property, but we were there only for a brief one-night stay and didn’t get to meet the host. The treats in the library were appreciated, and the breakfast was quite good. Pictures of other rooms seem different to our experience, but our room was small and cramped. No good place to put luggage, no place to put toiletries in the bathroom, no good place to hang a hand towel near the sink, no place for the shampoo and shower gel dispensers in the shower, … you get the idea.

Janice (10/5): Incredible would find it difficult to better. - What a find, the house had been moved 220km to this amazing plot. It was previously a nunnery and all those features had been retained, so the wood and feel of the property was extremely relaxing. The grounds included a railway carriage you could stay in, a wooden boat, carousel, a little lake with a fountain, swings, rocking seats, huge bee structure, the most amazing glass summerhouse with table tennis facilities and outside seating. Kym was the most amazing host, nothing was too much. She arranged our Milford Sound trip on Cruise Milford and recommended the time we should leave and stop off points on route. What I have not mentioned is that the lounge as free beer,wine, tea,coffee and cookies. What more could you want. Breakfast included everything you could want from continental to cooked, selection of juices and tea and coffee. One night we decided to stay in and Kym let us use the kitchen to cook dinner for ourselves and one other guest that we met. Felt very sad to leave and would differently recommend and go back if we can. Absolutely nothing.

Robin (7/5): An interesting experience for one night. - We stayed in the railway carriage on the property for two nights. The bed was quite good but had very little space each side - because of the width of the carriage. The bedside lamps (converted railway items) were not very good, the bedside tables each side were very badly made - in fact most of the fixtures and fittings looked as though they were clumsily put together by someone with little practical skill. The steps up into the carriage were original - an accident waiting to happen in my opinion, especially for anyone who is not 100% mobile! Though the claw foot bath and hot water supply were both good, the toilet was all original and in a very cramped original, unheated cubicle. Plenty of room, comfy bed, and lots of quirky touches. The main accommodation, which is an old convent, is also beautiful. Breakfast was very good and Kim couldn’t have been more helpful. Nothing 😊

Tina (10/5): A beautiful place, with an interesting history - This was the most gorgeous and quirky place to stay. We loved the heritage features and the creative atmosphere that has really shown off the fact that the owner has a good imagination. Consider a combination of an old convent building, beautiful spacious grounds, and then add a dollop of Alice in Wonderland. We were very happy with our stay in the bishops cottage, loved the location, and will come back to stay here as soon as we can plan another visit to Te Anau.
