Guest Reviews
- Nik (6/5): - Ok need better cleaning
- Dylan (2/5): - Property was dirty upon arival. Manager organised cleaner to attend. Property still appeared dirty with what appeared to be food stuck to blanket and hairs through the beds. Ended up not staying and was refused a refund or compensation. Will be following up due to breach of consumer rights.
- Rachel (8/5): - It was great for the most of it thanks.
- Rachel (10/5): Central, convenient & comfortable. - This is proving to be very comfortable & convenient & Im considering a longer stay with my business in Newcastle ongoing, I cant think of a better location for being central to the city & it allows me to at the end of the day being able to switch off & wind down & enjoy the peace & privacy this place has to offer.
- Rachel (10/5): - So far so good. The design of the building has cleverly incorporated the particular angles & slants of walls & corners to ensure that no one else in the other units can see their neighbours either from inside or from the private balcony
Suits me for the time being.
The cleaning staff are very helpful & friendly. A couple of standard items broke in the unit as in the hairdryer & the kettle but thats to be expected when these items are constantly used by ever
- Greg (2/5): - I did not recieve all & when I tried to ring to see if it could be sent to my phone the automated answering system could not help at all. As we had an important engagement to attend we gave up in disgust and found alternate accommodation at another location. This therefore cost me extra and almost ruined our day Both myself and my wife are sure that we will not use you again
- Ryan (2/5): - Nothing good.about this place apart from the fact its cheap. And nasty. You book for 2pm check in they tell you its actually 3pm then say not ready until 7pm. Hopeless!
Aircon doesn't turn off. No fan in bathroom complex is noisy and backs onto main road, do yourself a favour and dont stay here
- Deirdre (6/5): - The apartment was neat and mostly clean. Unfortunately the area is noisy with neighbours constantly slamming door and screaming.
Stairway is dirty and full of rubbish. Allotted parking always taken by others
- Zaynab (2/5): - Do not believe what you see with the pictures they post of this property it is disgusting inside and out.
The unit was not clean at all hair and food on the floors, the bathroom tap had literally fallen off and the windows in the bedrooms did not close.
I.was told 3pm checking in we didn't get in untill after 4pm as the cleaner was cleaning the unit.
They say no smoking but the whole unit block inside is filled with cigarette smoke which filters into the apartments.
DO NOT STAY HERE
- Sarah Kate (4/5): - The apartment was not as shown in photos with multiple holes in walls and damage. While inside was not to bad, it was very dirty outside the apartment.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - The room was very unclean and will never stay there again
- Wayne (8/5): - Apartment was very tidy and plenty of room and would probably stay there again. The only issues were that the shower constantly dribbled all night (needs new washer). Car parking was good the first night. Someone took our park the second night. We had to park on the street. 2 or 3 broken cars around the property made it look untidy.
- Tess (4/5): - Broken blinds, broken toilet, broken shower tap
- Bryce (2/5): - Firstly the place & surrounding didn't feel safe, unit had dirty feel, no blinds on main bedroom, the sound from neighboring property's were disturbing. The carpark had run-down cars with smashed windows, after looking at google reviews stating that a car had been stolen, blood on walls etc, we felt it wasn't safe for our young family to stay at this location so after 20-30 minutes we vacated
- Dale-Lyn (4/5): - The beds were comfy.Shower pressure was good,
The chairs were metal outdoor chairs as dining table chairs very noisy everytime you moved.Very uncomfortable sit on.
The balcony chairs were foldable chairs in very poor condition.
The couch wasnt comfy and was squeaky. No tv remote. Dryer in the dining area, one balcony door didnt lock!
Floor was sticky. Carpet was worn out in many spots.
Warped cupboards in bathroom.
- Jodi (4/5): - This property is not as it appears. The foyer lock did not work meaning the o ly barrier between you and your belongings is 1x coded door. I questioned how often the code is changed and received no response.
There was 1x knife on the drawer which had rust on. The rooms were dirty and had stains all the walls and curtains. The drawers in the kitchen were also dirty. The sofa was so old and broken I used a coat to sit on. I wedged cushions behind the door to prevent entry. There were sirens and noise often and broken cars that have clealry not been moved in quite some time. It was the most unsafe I have ever felt.
- Kaiyun (8/5): - excellent location,comfortable rooms
- Arthur (6/5): - Blind missing in bed room , the other wasn’t working , lounge dirty , above dryer full of dust ,
No coat hangers , very noisy room
- Michelle (2/5): - Do NOT stay here. Cleanliness was beyond substandard/non existent, beds had springs sticking through to the point where we got an air mattress out of the car. The worst part was getting back after a concert to find that a “cleaner” had been in well after check in time to set up an extra bed that we didn’t need, and had left the front door wide open and the back door unlocked when everything had been secure when we left. Several complaints were met with dismissive comments and not even an attempt at an apology. Bathroom leaked to the point where the carpet outside was wet (leak was under the floor, not in the bathroom). Place hadn’t been properly cleaned in ages, and the kitchen did not contain basic items despite being advertised as being fully equipped - for example, no washing up liquid, chipped plates, no tea towels. There were cockroaches in the kitchen cupboards, and stains on the bathroom floor mats.
- CHARMAINE (2/5): - The property was very dusty and the room was quite stuffy. The couches were worn out and the bathroom door lock was broken which caused us to be locked out of the bathroom, there was no sanitary bins in the bathroom either. The linen wasn’t allergy friendly and the quality should be improved. The beds are sagging causing discomfort when sleeping. Otherwise the apartment is a good size and provided towels:)
- Jack (2/5): - Accomodation is absolutely filthy. Every piece of furniture is damaged and disgusting, floors were sticky and unclean, the sink had mould in it. Looks nothing like the photos and the area is very dodgy. The accomodation is almost certainly commission housing being rented out illegally. Avoid at all costs, stay away.
- Chris (2/5): - Unfit for occupancy.
Second floor sash windows had no screens with windows open on arrival, a child would easily fall out. Lounge suites that were torn and dirt and wouldn’t look out of place on a rednecks front porch as a dogs bed. Blood splatters on the back of the bathroom door. Empty toiletry packaging on floor under the vanity. Nail polish spread throughout the apartment. Unserviceable lock on sliding door. Kids drawings on most walls and blinds. Broken glass and glitter on the floor.
Highlight of our stay was departing with all four wheels and no broken windows on our car.
- Michael (2/5): - The property had many things that needed attention and looked like it was in the middle of renovations.
There was a shower screen that was broken off and stored at the top of the built in wardrobe that looked like it could have fallen out on someone. The smoke detector was also removed and stored in top of the wardrobe.
The beds were poor quality and bowed. The external doors did not look like they closed properly and some of the internal door hardware was not fastened properly. The property was also not cleaned well enough.
We thought that we must have been given the wrong unit number and that it wasn’t ready to be stayed in.
When we rang to say we weren’t comfortable staying there and if they had a different unit to move to we were moved to a much nicer unit at a different property.
We appreciate the customer service and the upgrade to a much nicer property in a nicer part of town.
We won’t be staying at the bluefin apartments again and would not recommend the apartments to others but we appreciated the approachable staff who accomodated our late request to move elsewhere.
- Daison (8/5): - Large house, enough beds
Evening things with in the reange. Very old carpet which made two of our people sick such as itching, sneezing
- Stuart (2/5): - Other than being close to food shopping there is not one thing positive about this place.
Disgusting
Everything is broken
Crumbs in beds
Stains on sheets
Doors broken
Blinds broken
Remotes don't work as batteries missing
Toilet seat unattached
Uncomfortable beds
I have travelled a lot for business and this is BY FAR the worst place I have ever stayed at.
Do yourself a favour and never stay here!!! It makes sense now why this was the last one available
In future I would travel further.
Avoid at all costs
- Jennifer (4/5): - The property has a great layout and was in a fantastic location for us. Was really pleased to see it had an ensuite and a bathroom, when we only expected 1 bathroom!
However it was not clean, blankets had been shoved into cupboards, floors had dirty crumbs floating around, the courtyard was unkept, the bathrooms had not had the vanity wiped prior to our stay.
The people running the apartments were rude. We got charged an additional $9 for a meaningless admin fee which we had not expected. We have stayed a few times in properties run by Newcastle executive apartments and found the customer service to be very below parr each time.
- Brett (8/5): - Great location for being close to shops. Was upgraded for free. But place needs to keep on maintenance as shower door missing.
- Brett (2/5): - Check-in details out of date, poorly maintained (broken blinds, shower screen, no cupboard doors), wet/dry towels left in washing machine/dryer, remote for AC didn't work, beds were uncomfortable.
- Hollie (2/5): - Trust the reviews!!!!!
We were booked to stay at Blue Gum Apartments for 2 nights.
We arrived at 4:30pm to find that our apartment was still being “cleaned”.
We sat with our children in the car until 5:00pm waiting for the room to be ready.
On entry to the property we noticed multiple shopping trolleys and used mattresses. Whilst waiting we witnessed cleaners throwing towels and sheets over third storey balconies onto dirty wet concrete below. There was no care given whatsoever!
I believe we were quite patient considering checkin was 2pm.
Once finished we had to step over towels and rubbish to enter the building.
The room was basic. No bedside lamps, no artworks on the walls. Filthy! Our children even decided to put their socks back on after their shower.
The bedspreads were dirty, the vanity is well beyond needing replacing, the shower was mouldy and there was not even a soap holder. The balconies and windows were putrid! It was just plain disgusting.
We are so disappointed, as we have stayed with Newcastle Executive Apartments on multiple occasions at their properties in Charlestown, Hamilton and Wallsend, which were all excellent locations and we couldn’t fault them.
We decided to leave after one night because to be honest we was appalled and disgusted with this property. We didn’t feel safe at all.
It’s been a week and I still haven’t received any communication from the manager even after sending email and text message.
Appalling!!!!!!!!!
- David (2/5): - Good TV. Overall dirty and in a poor state of repair. Lacking kitchen utensils and crockery, very noisy, less than friendly neighbours.
- Elizabeth (2/5): - Just appalling, tv remote didn’t work, air con not up to scratch, dirty
- Barbara (2/5): - This unit we stayed in smelt of cigarette the minute you walked in.Dust and mould and stains on the walls . The air con filter was filthy.Disgusting.I ended up with a severe sinus infection and had to leave and go home.No blankets,no bath mat or hand towel. One of the coffee cups had a crack that the water just oozed out How no one has even maintained or monitored these premises is criminal. The fire hose was off the wall and used to prop open the door from the next building.Power point hanging off the wall with wires exposed.I have rung and sent and email complaining and asked to be reinbursed. No reply.Il be contacting fair trading with all the pictures I took.
- Michelle (2/5): - This property was terrible. Certainly does not deserve the 3.3 star rating as listed. It was grimy, pillows were so stained we could not use them. The surfaces were sticky and not wiped. Bathroom had damaged cupboards, shower door did not stay closed, heating did not work. No glasses and only 2 mugs. Very expensive for what is on offer.
- Darren (2/5): - The property was not Clem with mold in the shower.s.
The air conditioning remotes were missing !
The beds were crap and even problems with turning the taps on and off
Don’t stay here!!!!!
- Peter (2/5): - the place was so bad that we left after only ! night of our stay there. I contacted Newcastle Executive Apartments and the person on reception was very good, he gave me his managers email so I could let them know what was happening at their complex. I wrote an extensive email but after a week have not heard anything back from the manager.Very disappointed, would not recommend
- Ilavarasi (2/5): - The worst property I have ever stayed in my life. The photos advertised in Expedia are extremely opposite to the reality. This property is a scam in many ways. Our family including a child and elderly parents were shocked with the 3 bedroom unit that was mouldy, musty, smelled of cigars, disgusting carpets and uncleaned property including an unflushed and sewage blocked toilet. Their poor management and literally no sense of customer service tops these! We checked out of this property in an hour, scared of a potential lung infection inhaling all the disgusting dust and dirt and I am still working with their management to get my refund for this booking (not very responsive at this stage). Expedia should get this property out of their listing , else their brand reputation is at stake.
- Prarthana (2/5): - We were moved to Cardiff executive apartments. That was ok. But the Cardiff apartment condition was horrible, it was super dirty, and everything was dirty. The previous occupants left dirty staff on the sofa, inside the fridge, inside the built-in robes, the gas burners were super dirty. The shower area was dirty too. The apartment is very modern BUT in terms of maintenance, it was pathetic. The toaster was so dirty that I could not use it. There was only one bowl in the kitchen. It looks like the floors were not moped for months!!! We had to keep our shoes on all the time. The backyard was full of dirty staff. I suggest the property owner to clean the house properly before giving it to someone. That's my request.
- kim (2/5): - Have never reviewed before but this was the worst place I have ever stayed. Filthy floors, walls, towels & carpets. Beds lumpy and almost unsleepable. No doors on wardrobe and no coat hangers. Half vertical blinds missing so had outside light shining in all night.
The only thing this property had going for it was it’s position. Do yourself a favour and stay somewhere else
- Susan (2/5): - WOTIF- WHY ARE YOU ASSOCIATING WITH THIS DUMP?
No entry details provided - highly lacking communication - I had to chase them for entry details and didn't get them until 3 pm (they advertise 2pm check in).
Greeted by a broken security door.
Absolutely disgusting filthy apartment
Its in a department of housing estate
Smelt like vomit
On Saturday night the local foul mouthed houso skateboard gang congregate outside the bedroom window until 4am
Cigarette butts left in bin
Crockery and cutlery and cupboard all have food stuck on them
Human faeces on the bedroom wall (and handprints)
All window blinds are broken
No fly screens
Bathroom vanity is rotting
AVOID AVOID AVOID
Read all the other reviews.. this has been the case since atleast 2016
- Allieca (4/5): - The quilt on the main bed was dirty, there was food on the floor under the beds (could be seen by just standing in the room). We killed 3 cockroaches. Very dirty hand and face prints on the door. No iron.
It’s a very basic unit, which is fine, the price was good but it was no where near clean enough. Security could be better as well.
- Ruth (6/5): - I didn't receive check in details until after arrival and had to contact to get them. Arrived 2 hours after allowed check in time, and the location still wasn't ready. Had to wait another hour after arrival to gain entry.
Furniture dumped on nature strip, rubbish around precinct. Microwave didn't work, however was replaced 7pm that evening. One set of batteries between two remotes (A/C and TV).....
- Peter (2/5): Got me once, but it wont happen again! - I was meant to stay at Bluegum, but on arrival there was no one available for check in. On calling, I was advised i had been moved to apartments around the corner. That was fine! I drove there, checked in which was ordinary to say the least (3 people talking to each other about not much and then "You right".....).
Once in my unit, no fly screens on any windows and air-con did not work so was quite warm in the unit. Fly screen on front door has obviously been attacked by thieves at some stage with holes all around the locks, hence couldn't leave that open either. Just generally pretty dirty and dusty in the unit with very ordinary service from all aspects. Anyways, life goes on and at least i now know where not to stay when i visit again.
Forgot to mention, i was also charged an extra $17 at the new property for the privilege of being moved!
- Cheryl (6/5): - The apartments are in a great location. They have been recently painted and were clean and tidy inside. The area around the apartments is dirty with rubbish in the garden beds and broken furniture out the front of the apartment. Overall we had a pleasant stay.
- Leah (4/5): -
Terrible traffic noise and in serious need of maintenance.
- Sarah (4/5): - I booked at the bluegum as I needed to be close to my nephews house but when I went to check in they had changed me to the grounds of Callaghan which is 10 minutes in the other direction. The grounds of Callaghan was not pleasant. Modern enough but noisy uni students and didn’t feel *clean*
- Robbie (4/5): - Pro:
Close to shopping centre
Cons:
Dirty wall, Dirty Balcony, Sticky kitchen table, Dirty linen, Spider webs Spider in the room.
Poor maintenance_Blocked drain in the shower, damaged bathroom, room door wardrobe, Air Con need to be switched on manually, AC and TV remote not working.
Cigarette smell in the foyer area.
This place need a lot of attention,
bit hard to communicate with the staff,
Take several calls on check in day to get the door code, finally got the code by 6pm.
Cant be bother to call them to mention all above cons.
Not reccomended.
- Samantha (8/5): - Upon arrival at the property there was a lot of busted and broken furniture beside the driveway. 3 lounge suites, chairs, tables, stools and other such items.
I parked outside the property and waited till 2pm for our “checkin instructions”. I called at 2 and was told that the code would be sent via SMS. After 5 minutes I called again. Was told that the code wasn’t working and that I’d have to wait and they’d get back to me. After 45 minutes I called again, got a different person who just read the code to me over the phone.
After finding our apartment we discovered that our parking spot was being used and we had to try and find somewhere else to park. There are ‘signed’ spots for each unit but there’s no assigned parking so we often had to walk a distance from the car to the unit.
The outside area and entry to the unit was confronting. The garden was full of someone’s clothing and sheets, there were trolleys full of concrete thrown over a railing into a garden, and kids toys everywhere.
Once you get past the front door of the apartment, it’s like a small oasis.
The apartment is well set out with comfortable and practical furniture. The fridge is large and the water pressure is fantastic.
At first glance the apartment appears to be well stocked, but we noticed a few things that were missing, like the kitchen sink plug, and a few broken things, like the laundry door and the patio door.
Otherwise this property is fantastic. It’s conveniently located too.
- Jeff (4/5): - The front door lock didnt lock so couldnt leave anything in room while we were out. Lock did get replaced after 2 days.
The property is next to a main road so it is noisy.
There was a pile of old furniture and rubbish next to driveway.
The permanent residents are noisy.
Wont stay here again.
- Mansoor (10/5): - we booked 3 bedroom but we only got two bedroom apartment.
- Nader Shoukat (2/5): - V bad lack of commnuication never ever recommend
- Charice (8/5): - Poor communication. We booked Blue Gum Apartments but was moved to Jesmond Executive Villas without prior notice. Only found out on check in. There is limited parking on the villa, first come first served. Unit given to us was on 2nd floor so challenging with little kids and carrying in/out of luggages. Other than these overall the property was nice, well maintained, spacious and has some basic cooking and dining stuff.
- Cruz (2/5): - The property is not safe for any families, part of wardrobe fell of hurt our baby. Tradies left many cigarettes butts and when the plumber fixing the water system during our stay, he came with lighting cigarette and screaming saying bad words at us for calling them fix the water problem. The Manager and admins hard to communicate very angry attitudes. There are also drunk people around the building, not recommend for any family with kids.
- Steven (2/5): - Do not stay at this place. It was dirty throughout. Looked like there had been a party there the night before as there was party paraphernalia left in the cupboards and on the floor. It looked like there was with only a 5 minute clean up and drawing all over the walls. As it was during Covid we were not game to use and eat off anything in the kitchen. We booked a 3 bedroom and only received a 2 bedroom, only being told when we phone for entry detailed. The manager (Tony I think) tried to blame others for not telling me. After multiple contacts the refund of the difference in the rooms never happened. He now does not reply to any contact. The sofa bed in the apartment was broken and not able to be slept-ed on. A new one that was promised never arrived and my son had to source alternative accommodation. It was a very dodgy place and i'm pretty sure drug deals were taking place out the front of our apartment. This was the worst 3 days of accommodation that we have ever experienced and we have stayed in home-stays in Vietnam. Just don't do it.
- Barbara (6/5): - I was relocated to their other property Jesmond Executive Villas but was not informed beforehand.
No email sent to let me know.
The apartment No:41 was right beside the main Newcastle Road and traffic was busy overnight with emergency vehicles sirens sounding.
I would not wish to stay that close again to main road.
Otherwise the apartment was fine and spacious.
- Ayla (6/5): - Check in details were sent late, place clean but very old & outdated- lounge ripped
Bed very uncomfortable, busy location & backs on to busy road, made it impossible to sleep
- Verified traveler (6/5): - It had everything we needed such as a tv, shower and kitchen. However, it was not very clean. I asked for bedding as one of the kids wet the bed, they brought me sheets with no blankets!!! It’s winter!! Took ages for them to bring it to the room. The washing machine was rusted on the bottom and it wasn’t great to wash the clothes. It actually stopped mid way through a wash for no reason. Spider webs everywhere on the balcony and in the windows. Well overdue for a pest spray! It was overpriced for what it is. I don’t think I will ever stay there again unless I’m absolutely desperate!
- Julia (10/5): Family trip. - The apartment was very spacious and convenient and comfortable, even better with the kitchen and family size fridge.
Just had a problem with the key pad to go into the apartment, got locked out a number of times but the staff were very helpful. A Electrician came pretty Quickly, while we were out. We got a phone call from Security who said they replace the key pad and sent me the new code.
The only thing is there was no batteries in the remote for the aircon but other than that it was good. Thankyou we will be back again.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Bring your own cleaning equipment..
Location is central, cleanliness is appalling. There was cigarette butts and spilt drinks all over the balconies, mould through out the bathroom and the floor was covered in a slimy grime which took 3 mops to remove. Dirty finger prints over every surface.
- Julie (2/5): - The unit had someone else stay after last clean and unit had doors unlocked so someone had been using the place. Food on the floor, the cleaner came and fixed the rooms which was nice and they
- Verified traveler (2/5): - I have never been so disgusted in any accommodation that I have stayed in before. Filthy, blood smeared all over the bathroom walls and door, rubbish on the floors including a pair of women's false eyelashes on the lounge room floor, broken furniture, filthy stove, fridge and sink. Took us 1hr to book in with the complicated book in system. Rang and complained about the state of appt. and they moved us to another appt. Got there and found a KFC box of chips in the microwave, dirty fridge and the floors were filthy. Rang back to complain and spoke with the Manager Tony who abused me so badly I was in tears. Will NEVER stay there again and will make sure I warn other people from staying there also.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - It was a Three bedroom semi detached house, so there was plenty of room for my family of 5. However we were greeted with some garbage bags sitting just outside the front door and some of the linen could have been cleaner.
My main complain would be about check in / check out process - beware, there's no office @ the main property and the address can be misleading - our unit was located elsewhere. To check in one needs to contact the property in advance to receive their check in instructions. This information was somewhere as a small print so naturally I missed it. Upon the arrival and wondering around the apartment building asking people about the office I finally realized what the process was. Furthermore, the main office contact number was not responding so I had to call the emergency number to finally receive the correct address / check in instructions. Upon the checkout, we were greeted by the cleaning lady knocking at the door @ 9.40 am informing us that the new guest asked for an early check in at the properties needed to be cleaned (notice that the actual check out time was 10.00). I probably would not recommend the place, sorry.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Serviceable property, clean enough. No hot water to kitchen tap. No kitchen bin (bin bag was provided). No dishwashing liquid. Good enough for one night. Probably won’t stay again.
- Rajesh (2/5): - Very poor communication. Had to call to get the door code sent as no reception . Very smelly , floors wet , shower leaking , no tissues , smelly bed & plenty of mosquitoes
- Verified traveler (6/5): - the property was okay. but the cleanliness and hygiene level is a major let down.
there was dirty finger print marks all over kitchen. floors untidy eg. crumbs still visible and the shower hygiene was very questionable.
- Noel (10/5): Get away - Family get away
- Sophie (2/5): - It was supposed to be a 2pm check in, 4:30pm the cleaners were leaving! Very disappointed with the appartments cleanliness and courtyard littered with cigarette butts and rubbish.
Call centre for the appartments not understanding or helpful.
Will not be returning to this property.
- Cyndi (4/5): - I was charged $20 an hour for early checkin but the room wasn’t even ready. Cleaners advised of different room but no access details until we’ll after checkin time - had to call to get them.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The property was in a good location and was spacious. The dishwasher didn't work, the washing machine flooded the laundry and the TV flickered so I couldn't really give a high rating.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Nice apartment with everything we needed. Plenty of space to park and close to shops
- Verified traveler (4/5): - There was not enough cutlery in the rooms. The configuration was terrible with a huge step up into the shower area. There were cockroaches in one of the kitchens. The reception was unresponsive when reporting the TV in the main lounge was not working.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Needed to buy products to clean the place, very dirty and not cleaned properly, would never stay there again. Yuk!!!
- Verified traveler (2/5): - The property was terribly dirty, marks on linen, blood stains appear to be on the walls, door didn't lock. The toilet was dirty and smelled very bad. Was very disappointing to arrive at the property to see it in such bad conditions that my colleagues could not stay there,
- Phil (6/5): - Basic amenities, average general level of cleanliness, balcony door didn’t open and bedding was dirty, stained and smelled. Plus side kettle worked along with the hot water and AC
- Darryl (6/5): Tired - Basic for the rate, and getting very tired, dusty, no sugar amongst the tea and coffee amenities, furniture worn in living area. Have stayed previously, not much maintenance over the years. At least it’s much less noisy now.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Very conveniently located to shops and main roads. Very spacious apartments. Modern apartments but furniture and accessories rundown and or broken. Needs addressing.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Having stayed at Bluegum apartments previously we stayed again but this time at the larger of their 2 complexes in Michael street.
Problems reported to maintenance by text but no response.
1. Stairwell lights not working - dangerous
2. Bed not properly made up (on pillow cases on bed in mine) Neighbour had to wash her dirty sheets before use
3. Jam or similar smears left on kitchen bench tops
4. Floors needed cleaning
5. No toilet paper on roll holder in bathroom
6. Downstairs neighbours also told me their unit was not clean when they arrived.
I'm really disappointed with this as previously the apartments have been good. I'm in Newcastle about 4 times each year and take staff there. After this I'll have to reconsider using Blue Gum.
What really surprises me is the lack of response from maintenance or management.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - This accommodation was nothing like the photos advertised. The walls had pencils all over them, ground and tables were sticky. We asked for two kings - this was just two singles pushed together not even a fitted sheet on just a top sheet on the bottom so the beds would seperate and the wheels would not lock so the bed would move around the room. The cleanliness of this apartment was appalling. It’s disgusting how much they charge per night for what you get. Would not recommend.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Dirty floors needs dusting
But apart from that it was ok
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Friendly reception, roomy accommodation, very clean
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Bed in one room had dirty sheets and bed not made properly drunks yelling and abusing someone half of the night.
- Rebecca (10/5): - Great place to stay
- christina (6/5): - Location was good, clean sheets, clean kettle and utensils, wifi speed ok, good that it had washer & dryer within the apartment. However, it's not clean; within a couple of hours in the apartment the soles of my feet were black (I had to resort to wearing slippers), the apartment was on 1st floor so there were bugs and caterpillars, and in the shower area were at least 2 to 3 dozen little flies. And, the hot water for shower was intermittent so I had to keep adjusting the taps during shower. Taps were leaky, wardrobe doors squeaky. Wanted to cook but couldn't turn on the gas stove, had emailed to ask but no reply.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Self contained unit close to shops etc.
Nothing like advertised photos. Not as modern home. Very basic amenities provided within unit, no extra blankets, pillows etc.
- MD (4/5): The bluefin disappointment - Poor cleanliness, dead insects on the floor, bleach smelled inside an my one year was sniffin out of it. Suppose to have a king bed - they made it joining two singles, my little son was hanging on the middle - terrible breach of customers right.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great location, always clean and tidy, great units
- David (6/5): Not clean - We needed to buy cleaning spray and clean the apartment on arrival, the fridge, cooker, microwave and all the work tops were very dirty
- Mark (8/5): Good - Room was great, clean, tidy.
- Nigel (10/5): Great apartment. Close to amenities. - Very comfortable. Great location, with excellent eateries across the road at the Plaza.
- Lynette (8/5): - We had a great time! Lots of room for the family!
- Lyn (6/5): Spacious apartment - Excellent value for money, but apartment needs a very good clean. Not going to have a grizzle on here as all the little things can be fixed easily.
- Justina (6/5): Disappointed. & not property shown on website page - It wasn’t the property shown on website! Was around the corner on the noisy Main Street in a block of 3x two storey villas. Couch was ripped, toilet roll holder sitting on window ledge gathering dust. The only nice thing was the newly renovated bathroom & comfortable beds. We were there for a family funeral so didn’t have time or energy to contact management. Unbelievably disappointed! Not to mention the drilling or sawing at 5.30am Friday morning.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Close to UNI - Needed overnight accommodation close to the university.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The apartment was clean and comfortable. We only stayed for 1 night but enjoyed the ample space.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Was ok. Plenty of room for a large family. Quiet, even though close to a major road. Easy to find location, close walk to shops for tea.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The sheets didn't fit the bed properly and it would have been nice if there were extra blankets available. Maybe the main bedroom hadn't been finished as we got the pillow slips for a second pillow but no pillows.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Convenient - This was convenient to an eisteddfod my children participated in. There were shops nearby and only a short drive to Newcastle CBD.
- Sam (2/5): Very disappointing accomodation - The agent / property management sent us to a different address and it is not the one we booked via Expedia. I was very disappointing since Michael street one is located at the back street that what I prefer. I had been lived in Newcastle for a long time and I knew Jesmond is not a good area to stay, especially on the main street. However, it was very close to where we needed to be, that's why we gave it a go.
The townhouse is located right next to the main road (Blue gum Road) and I could hear a few people chatting very loud at 12.00 mid night on the side of the road which is right outside my room. I had to shut the window, so I could get some sleep. But it got really hot, since the a/c is only in the main room and living room down stairs. The other rooms has no a/c.
The other problem all the beds has rolls on them and were moving whenever you get on/ off the beds. That was really annoying for all of us.
Also the cleanliness is an issue. I found hair on my bed and it made me wonder who was it from?
There is no reception or front dest and if you have any problem you have to ring the property management agent. We did not have a pleasant conversation with the team when we having trouble check-in, due to the wrong info in the system.
To be honest the rent was cheap, but for that price you can get something better in Newcastle with a bit extra cost.
I would NOT recommend this place to anyone, better avoid it.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Good - one night stay. Average amenities and close to eateries.
- Robin (6/5): - Well, wasn’t too bad but some bath towels look like even older than me. Also some sand from beach is on a bed.
- Ninos (4/5): It was so bad. - Apartment it wasn't clean too old lounge and so so dirty..
