Guest Reviews
- Bruce (8/5): A comfortable stay and a great breakfast to start the day. - Breakfast was super- good array of choices, well prepared and plentiful, coffee really great. Sausages, bacon and poached egg were all very flavorful. My bed and pillows were very comfortable, the television and coffee maker both worked and were simple to operate. Staff and the front desk was friendly, helpful and efficient. There was a very bright streetlight across the alley from my room and the blinds were not dense enough to block it. Every time I shifted to sleep on my left side for a while, I could see light even with my eyes closed. An extra curtain to draw over the blind would have solved the problem. The room could have been about 3-4 degrees cooler at night.
- Sander (7/5): -
- Terry (7/5): The facility was adequate but definitely over priced - Location For the price, I would have expected upgraded facilities. The beds are wore out and the building is very dated
- teenat110 (10/5): Wonderful Ponoka Stampeder Inn - The Staff is amazing - Marvin & Sherry are incredible hosts! The building is very clean and in each room there is special caring touch to make sure one feels special when arriving. They care about you as you visit and provide an outstanding breakfast with incredible variety! This is my very favourite spot to stay in my travels! Thank you!
- Cole2007 (10/5): Top choice in Ponoka - Excellent place to stay if you’re visiting Ponoka. Spotless, comfortable accommodations, priced well and complimentary breakfast included.
Convenient location within walking distance to No Frills, Dollarama, fast food and two restaurants next door.
Highly recommended for singles, couples and sports teams.
- Elmer (10/5): -
- Christine (9/5): - Always the most comfortable beds and pillows.
Very clean even if rooms are a bit dated.
Very friendly staff N/A
- kristad926 (10/5): Ten out of ten service!!! - Sherri and her husband made our New Years so special coming back from the PBR. They really went all out again, as they did last year. Extremely considerate, kind, caring down to earth people. We appreciated their time and effort and would highly recommend this place to everyone!!!
- 77teenat (10/5): Fantastic Hotel with Great Hosts - This is my very Favourite Inn - in all of Alberta!
I love the Hosts -- they make you feel welcome the minute you arrive and go out of their way to make sure your stay is wonderful!
The breakfast is AMAZING with so many options to choose from!
The Beds were comfy and the rooms all have special touches to let me know the hosts truly care!
- Cindy (5/5): Location great. Staff great. Room was not great Had the non renovated room - Very good location. Staff was amazing I was disappointed. I was in one of the non renovated rooms and there was a hole in the wall and a few big black bugs.
My daughter had a nice renovation room and paid less than I did which disappointed me. The hotel is a great location and staff are amazing. Breakfast is good and included. Just disappointed I had the room I did.
- Jami (10/5): 5 star - Nice front end staff, clean rooms that have been recently renovated, comfy beds, best continental breakfast I’ve had in Canada
- barbsN7272SU (10/5): Utterly fabulous...would give the Stampeder Inn in Ponoka 10 stars if I could. Martin & Sherry are the best hosts! - This is my 2nd time staying at the Stampeder Inn in Ponoka. If I could give 10 stars, I would. Martin and Sherry are THE BEST hosts ever!!!! So welcoming and accommodating. The rooms are lovely and spacious with all the amenities I needed...clock radio, USB charging outlets on bedside lamps, hair dryer, coffee machine, bar fridge, TV, soaps, shampoo etc. The room was also extremely well cared for and clean. The beds are like sleeping on a cloud. Breakfast is provided from 6am to around 12pm and the choices are more than adequate and very tasty. I will be going back there next year and would not even consider staying anywhere other than with Martin and Sherry at the Stampeder Inn.
- debbielB9374RV (10/5): Excellent stay!! - We stayed at the Stampeder Inn August. 8-10. Sherry, the manager, was absolutely amazing. She gave us one of the renovated rooms. The room was immaculate, the bed was so comfortable. The shower was the best we have ever had in a hotel. They have a wonderful continental breakfast. Sherry even made sure we had coffee and snacks for our road trip back to Saskatchewan. Also they are so reasonably priced. I would highly recommend staying with them if you’re ever in Ponoka. Alberta!!
- 38pamelal (10/5): Friendly, Clean and a Great Value - We stayed at the Stampeder Inn while attending a family reunion, for two nights and were very pleased with the cleanliness of the rooms, and the friendliness of the staff. The room was recently renovated which was very nice and was spacious enough to meet our needs. The air conditioning worked well which we appreciated since it was a hot couple of days. The breakfast was fantastic with lots of choices and the room price was excellent for a budget conscious couple.
- dancB6556NB (10/5): Simply the best hotel in ponoka - We stay here every 3 years for our family reunion. The rooms are always clea and very comfortable. Showers are amazing. Martin and Sherry the managers are always helpful and very welcoming. Always smiling making sure your stay will be enjoyable. Strongly recommend to all.
- Jodikabernick (10/5): Great place to stay in Panoka. - Great little motel. Sherry and Martin that run it are the kindest people. Rooms were clean, beds were comfortable, great location and our room had a little kitchenette as well. Breakfast is also provided with a great assortment of breakfast foods. They go above and beyond. We will definitely be back!
- kjc20162016 (8/5): June 2025, 3 day/night stay in Ponoka - Great to find a reasonably priced, on-site, well managed, local family owned motel in Ponoka. The room refreshes over the years have been adequate, the beds & linens are great, Sherry and Martin are friendly and accomodating hosts, and something I liked in particular, is that the linens and towels, though fresh and clean, don't stink of over-the-top use of detergents, softeners or anti-static chemicals. Would definately return. Oh yea, and the breakfast room is nice, and the "continental breakast" choices are many. .. Ken - retired Albertan
- Aaron (10/5): - I love to stay here when travelling in the area.
- Aaron (10/5): - Great property, kind, engaged owners and staff.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Registration process - Desk clerk could not answer some inquiries about the registration process
Inferred that it was Expedias way.
Did not indicate as to whether the fee was in US dollars or Canadian.funds as I had booked ion Hotel.com
- Kirsten (10/5): - It offers a very extensive free breakfast
- Wayne (8/5): - Staff very friendly, room was clean & comfortable!
- racquillel (10/5): I was there for a business review - It’s the best hotel in the town . The breakfast is amazing and feel like I’m eating out .the best part about my stay was the people also . The room service was good and quick and tv is nice and has alot of channels . I would say maybe there could nothing I would change
- dianarU5678TW (10/5): Excellent - The rooms are very clean, breakfast room is open until noon. Great parking, room for trailer if you’re hauling horses, bedding is excellent and the managers Martin and Sherry are the nicest most accommodating people! Highly recommend if you’re going to Ponoka!
- Harry (10/5): - Friendly staff…older facility that is well taken care of and very clean.
- Road03588812269 (10/5): 10/10 at the Stampeder Inn - After a harrowing journey I arrived at another hotel in Ponoka, only to face issues with my reservation, and quickly popped over to see if the Stampeder Inn could provide quick accommodation late at night.
I was greeted by the friendliest folks in town, who had no issues securing me a room for multiple days. Martin and Sherry got me all sorted out, made sure my room had everything I could possibly hope for, and offered great conversations and lots of laughs.
The room was immaculate, with fresh renovations, the world's most plush and comfortable beds, and in-room temperature control. The shower had the greatest water pressure, and offered enough amenities to feel like home.
Sherry took me on a late-night tour of the continental breakfast room, and sent me away with some snacks to get me through the night. The breakfast was incredible, with more options than you could shake a stick at, and some handmade hot breakfast items.
My associate and I were encouraged to book in with the rest of our crew up in Wetaskawin the following week, but we loved the Stampeder Inn so much we had to come back for a few more days. We just checked out this morning, and I am already missing the quiet comfort within those walls. Will definitely be coming back, and will recommend it to anyone and everyone looking for a home-away-from-home.
Thank you so much Martin and Sherry!
- christipheru2025 (10/5): Great staff and experience every time! - I've stayed here numerous times over the years and I always arrive to the same clean rooms, very helpful and happy staff, and great value for a pet friendly room! When I come to ponoka to visit family, this is my go to place to stay! Make sure to partake in the continental breakfast!!
- Melanie (8/5): - It was great
- RL582 (10/5): Excellent!!! - Excellent place to stay!
Very clean, comfortable and amazing staff!! Always kind and very helpful. We are used to sleeping with a fan, asked and immediately one was brought to my my room, amazing service!
We will be back and 100% recommend!!
- Aaron (10/5): - owners went above and beyond, they were friendly, accommodating with our breakfast needs and even mailed my VISA when I left it behind in the room. OUTSTANDING and very appreciative ;) and the beds were AMAZING
- Explore571549 (10/5): Make the Stampeder Inn your first call in Ponoka - The cleanest room we have stayed in! The toiletries were plenty. The towels were generous. The beds turned out a very good night's sleep. Blackout and privacy blinds were a bonus.
The managers catered to our every need and the continental breakfast was more than enough with lots of choices. Would definitely stay here again!!
- Road589961 (10/5): Exceptional stay! - Our stay at Stampeder Inn in Ponoka, Ab., managed by Sherry, Sherry and Martin was fantastic. The newly renovated room was immaculate. The beds were the most comfortable we have slept on in our travels. The breakfast had many choices from cold to hot. Coffee and tea was always provided. Can’t say enough of the exceptional service we received from the managers. Thanks again Sherry, Sherry and Martin.
We will be back! Rick & Caroline Carnahan
- Rodrick (10/5): - Very nice people and rooms are clean with great pillows
- Lindsay (10/5): Just a great place - From the get go clean lobby friendly staff it was just a pleasure to stay there. Rooms clean quite and comfortable
- F4622OMbruceb (10/5): Will gladly recommend The Stampeder Inn - Came to town for a 90th birthday and staff was very accomdating in changing reservations and assistance while we were here.
Clean rooms and seem to be properly maintained.
Breakfast room is well stocked and more than enough to eat.
Staff lent us an extension cord from their own vechile when temp dropped to -30c on our last night.
Rooms were warm even if outside was very cold.
- Roy (8/5): - Their breakfast leaves something to be desired. If you want anything warm you have to take out of a fridge and nukr in microwave.
- Rebecca (10/5): - With the worst road conditions imaginable, my husband's travel plans quickly changed. I was able to book him a room at The Stampeder, and they made a terrible situation so much better. From the moment he arrived, they were friendly, and went out of their way to make him feel like a valued customer. Check in was great, and he was told when breakfast would begin, and to just sleep in, and it would still be available for him whenever he woke up. With road conditions still not great in the morning, they didn't impose an early check out, so he was able to get back on the road safely.
We can't say enough great things about The Stampeder Inn. (He also said the firm bed was great for his back.)
- pamelawoolger (10/5): Exceptional front desk staff and very clean - Very clean, rooms are large and well kept! Front desk staff was beyond helpful. I had to turn around in a snow storm on my drive to Edmonton and at 10pm when I checked in she opened the dining room for me so I could make a tea and grab a snack. Would highly recommend!!
- Madison06 (10/5): Don't judge a book by it's cover. The Stampeder Inn was really good. - We really liked staying at the Stampeder Inn. The couple that own it are very nice and helpful.
The free breakfast was good as well there was a lot to choose from.
We stayed in a renovated room which was nice and clean.
I found the beds very comfortable and the sheets were nice and soft.
The room itself was nice and very clean. Our room had a good sized mini fridge and microwave.
The Stampeder Inn itself was nice and quiet, there were no kids running up and down the hallway late into the night as we have heard from friends about some of the other hotels in Ponoka.
I would stay at the Stampeder Inn again for sure.
- Kelly (10/5): - We enjoyed our stay at the Stampeder Inn. As they say don’t judge a book by it’s cover.
We stayed in a renovated room and it was nice and clean.
The beds were very comfortable and the bed sheets were nice and soft.
The free breakfast has a lot of options.
The couple that run the hotel are very nice and helpful.
I would stay there again for sure.

- Janice (10/5): Exceptional -
- Brian (8/5): Very good -
- Tracy (8/5): It was convenient to the rodeo grounds. - The breakfast variety was excellent. The counters, fridge and freezer were filled with any option you could think of for breakfast. The parking was excellent and had numerous spots to pick from. Two restaurants on either side of the building and fast food places nearby. The bedding was not very clean and it needs an update. Dressers and night stand were very worn. Chairs and carpet were quite stained.
- Escape66612499193 (10/5): Great place to stay ♥️ - Absolutely awesome place to stay, very friendly managers and super clean.Breakfast room is very well stocked and clean, the guy who looks after it is super nice. Very close to the rodeo grounds and ample parking Once again thanks for the stay.

- isabellemS3006OI (10/5): A Must Try just an hour out of Edmonton - Just an amazing place to stay the night! Although Expedia had claimed all was booked solid, we decided to drive into the town and stopped here on the off chance there was a room. We were welcomed by Sherrie, had the most comfortable sleep, and NO time set for breakfast. All was ready in individual plates in the fridge, as well as many extras. Although it says continental breakfast, this was a full breakfast. So glad everything seemed to be booked from here to Edmonton, and in Edmonton, because we got to see this great little community.
- I5721NRtinal (10/5): Excellent stay - The staff was lovely and very accommodating. The room was comfortable and had all the amenities one would need; including a kettle for tea. Located close to town and walking distance to a grocery store. The breakfast variety was expectional.
- altamama2 (10/5): Great place to stay - When they renovated this place, they knew what was important! The beds are just superb! the best we've ever had in any hotel/motel....pillows lovely too. Next best thing is the free breakfast which is really above and beyond what you would expect with a complete selection of bagels, muffins, cereals, eggs, cheese, and fresh things such as grapes, strawberries, and blueberries along with juices. Martin and Sherry are the perfect hosts, they oversee everything if not doing it themselves which they are a lot of the time! You are made to feel welcome here, as the two of them make sure that you are comfortable and have all that you need in their very friendly way. We will stay here anytime we're in the area - bonus - if you're a rodeo fan, the grounds are only a short walk away!
- mattdX2334QZ (10/5): Stay Here! - I have stayed at The Stampeder Inn several times and always have a very pleasant stay. The managers, Sherry and Martin are awesome. They look after me so well. The facility is always clean and super comfortable. The breakfast is great! Available pretty much any time of the day to accommodate all their guests. I travel here for business and always look forward to this stop.
Highly recommend!
- 751kennedyb (10/5): AMAZING! - The couple who manages are absolutely phenomenal!! The staff are so kind and welcoming, it is truly a home away from home. The breakfasts are amazing and the rooms are always pristine. Whenever we are in ponoka we stay here, the best hotel in town!
- sandig363 (10/5): Exceeded Our Expectations - This hotel is a diamond in the rough! It has been recently renovated and is VERY clean and comfortable. The beds are new and extremely comfortable. The staff is very welcoming and helpful. They take pride in their flowers, upkeep of the building, and providing fresh, homemade breakfast options. The breakfast room has so many options to choose from. It is not what you would expect as a traditional hotel breakfast as the selection is so wide ranging and not like a commercial breakfast.
- David (10/5): - Looks like run of the mill motel, but as good as any Holiday inn.
- Nicholas (4/5): - The man at the front desk is not smart enough to be in that position. Makes checking in way harder then it needs to be. They need more intelligent staff to deal with customers.
- Ashley (10/5): - Wonderful owners, amazing breakfast, convenient location
- lou (10/5): - Management were very accommodating in providing a different room when our TV was not working.
- michelle (10/5): - The beds are amazingly comfortable! Good location
