Guest Reviews
- Adam (6/5): Good stay for the price... Bit weird - Overall experience was mixed. Upon arriving I was greeted by a friendly owner/manager who took me upto my room, passing the enormous fishtank (🤔) and gave me a quick layout of the place. Leaving me to it I was given the choice of when I wanted my breakfast the next morning which was good 👍
Unfortunately from there on in, the experience deteriorated... There was food and a bottle of coke (see photos) left from the previous occupant, no toiletries were provided for a shower, bed and floorboards were extremely creaky and when the room next door turned in bed it shook my own bed.
I expected noise from the pub downstairs but didn't expect it to be exactly as loud as it was. Biscuits provided were out of date by the time I finished my 3 night trip and the best thing about the traditional breakfast was the toast and cereal beforehand.
Accommodation providers were friendly and location was pretty good however shame the rest let it down.
- Pat (8/5): - Good stay wonderful bef
- gordon (6/5): - It was ok
- Wendy (6/5): - Would have preferred en-suite facilities
- Peter Davies (8/5): - Friendly staff good breakfast
- Ahmed (10/5): - Has all you need
- Verified traveler (4/5): Smelled musty room but location is convenient - The room smelled musty. The toilet and shower room are shared, which is inconvenient to the family. The bedroom is very old and no air dryer is provided in bedroom.
However, the breakfast is delicious and included, the location is very convenient, and the staff are friendly.
- COLIN (8/5): Cornish visit. - This was our first time using this website. The hotel was basic, We were not asked about what we required for breakfast. My wife does not eat a cooked breakfast normally. The breakfast was good, nice bacon, eggs but the sausages were not the best. There was no soap either in the shower or. toilet. The toilet had a leak on the outflow which l repoorted.
- Michael (8/5): - Pleasurable stay
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Staff helpful, tv didn’t work, the heating didn’t work, bacon delicious, wasn’t keen on eating next to the parrot, bit noisy till the pub closed at night, the marine tropical tank was amazing, the stair handrail could do with sanding and re-varnishing: it felt rough. The place looked pretty clean all round, though the decor was dark.
- Ian (8/5): - Excellent value for money. Lovely breakfast ceareal, toast plus sausage, bacon, egg, mushrooms, tomato and hash brown. Comfortable room.
- Jonathan (10/5): - A proper pub with a decent, clean bedroom and good bathroom down the hall. All at a great price. What’s not to like?
- Stephen (8/5): - Enjoyed stay, would have been more convenient to have evening meal at pub , staff were great, breakfast was enjoyable, bed comfortable
- Kevin (4/5): - Far to noisy hardly slept
- Doris (6/5): - Poor beddings.smelly and old.
- Karolina (8/5): - Clean place. Very nice people.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - I was given room 6. The bedding was definitively not clean as there was a bad smell from bed sheets and pillows. One pillow had dry white spots on it. The carpet was dirty. There was also a spiderweb. I didn't stay in the hotel in the end as couldn't go to bed with that terrible smell from the bed. I left the hotel late in the evening after arranging alternative accomodation for myself.
- Jason (10/5): - Old style cool and great place to stay and felt very welcome
- Siphethokuhle Pretty (8/5): - Flexible check in time when requested
- Jason (10/5): - Very clean, and with an old style classic pub feel, with great service by the staff with that friendly feel of being very welcome
- John D (8/5): Then and now - Somewhat reminiscent of hotels in the 70's but efforts seem to be aimed at bringing this more up to date.
- david (6/5): - Good value for money with full english breakfast. Was on a main road so the young bikers going by were a bit annoying over revving their bikes.
It was a shared separate shower and toilet both looking modern as if they had both been renovated recently there was only two of us staying so it wasn't an issue. The one thing i did not like was the black coloured sheet on the bed, all shetts should be white for obvious teasons.
- Vicki (10/5): - Lovely old time pub. Comfortable stay.
- Ashley (10/5): Short stay perfect price - Freindly staff, clean room, despite the bathrooms being seperate from the rooms, they where clean and hygienic and the shower was awesome :) breakfast was Included and was a personal touch, highly recommend and I would definitely stay again! Thank you
- Andrew (10/5): - I felt comfortable staying at this property it fully met my needs.
- maureen (10/5): Three nights stay - Fantastic little b&b at a pub. Very good bar prices. Billy and staff made me feel like family. Room very clean. Breakfast too much for me, so 2nd day just had toast and really good coffee. Must mention the shower. Incredible! Jets and spray.
Thanks Billy and Janet at the Vyvyan .

- reece (8/5): - Ideal place to get your head down and fantastic price
- Terry (10/5): - Landlady and staff were great enjoyed there company
- Tom (8/5): - Great atmosphere, warm welcome, well looked after. Look forward to staying again
- Paul (6/5): - I liked the bathroom and convenience, they were very clean. I did not like the smell in the room and also the bed sheets needs to be changed as soon as an occupant checks out.
- Tim (6/5): - Basic but certainly worth the price. Friendly hosts.
- Marcelle (2/5): Not good. - The rooms are above a pub but I must say it wasn’t noisy. The carpets, fireplace, ledges and edges all dirty with dust and grime. Many grimy corners as well. Smells funny as well. The day I arrived I was so embarrassed I started looking for another hotel but none was available at that short notice .
The breakfast was also the worst. Don’t let me get started on that. One star hotel. I wish I can get my money back
Place needs renovations and modernisation. Shared toilet but it was clean. The overall smell of the place is just not good
Needs airing out. And please don’t try any adult stuff on the squeaky beds. Tip, lay the pillows on the floor
- Verified traveler (10/5): Satisfied - Friendly staff, comfortable accommodation, good breakfast, all we needed. Even if the parrot did swear at us!
- Scott (10/5): Great place great people - Had an amazing stop over the land lord and lady were excellent hosts so from two old soldiers thank you
- Erika (6/5): - Nothing
- Maria (4/5): - Property was very smelly. Room felt damp
Most uncomfortable night I have ever had mattress was so old you could feel all the springs. We are used to camping but this was dreadful.Doors were being slambed until at least 230am.
Had to park on side of main road as no space in car park. No choice for breakfast. Wouldnt use it again
- Gregory (8/5): Vyvyan hotel camborne - Look, at the end of the day its an old hotel but the staff are doing their best. It was comfortable and clean and for the price great value.
Would be good if they had sky sports because i wouod have settled in to watch the cricket but had to find another hotel to watch it and therefore have a few beers.
- Tomasz (10/5): Excellent place to stay - The team were very friendly. Considering the low price, I was pleasantly surprised by the high quality of service.
- Sheldon (10/5): Clean and comfortable - Clean and comfortable room, liked the fact you could smell the bedding was freshly cleaned.
Good breakfast each morning and fairly central to all amenities
- John (10/5): - A place with a history. Good Breakfast. Flexible
- David (8/5): - A nice clean room for an overnight stay. The breakfast was nice.
- Jamie (10/5): - Great stay
- Leticia (10/5): - Good hotel
- Chris (10/5): - The staff were very helpful and the cost of room was excellent in terms of value for money.
- Brian (10/5): Nice stay - Very good
- Hiezel (10/5): - Very good service and clean, the crew are very helpful
- Verified traveler (8/5): - This is an old pub so that's what is reflected. Staff are very friendly and helpful, good breakfast.
- Ken (6/5): KGN review - The room was very basic. No seating and a lack of power points. With a double poster bed and two singles but only two bedside lights. Overall the hotel would benefit being updated.
- CLIFFORD (10/5): - Excellent value and friendly staff.
- Stephen (10/5): - The Vyvyan Hotel was handly place in cambourne town. Room was vey spacious and will equipped. Staff were very friendly and helpful. I had a very nice stay and would recommend hotel to my family and friends. I will be going back there soon
- James (10/5): - Very nice people, cheap price
- Simon (10/5): - Good price. Very big room with huge double bed, 6 pillows and a sink. Toilet and shower down the corridor. Kettle with tea/coffee etc. The pub is apparently not the most distinguished, I didn’t go in the bar anyway, but the B&B was fine for me! Very nice 2 nights.
- Peter (6/5): - The staff are friendly and the vyvyan is good value for money
- Jamie (10/5): Great stay - Great stay friendly staff
- Steve (8/5): - Looks dated, like stepping back 50 years but comfy clean room, friendly service and a cracking brrakfast.
Great value.
- J (10/5): The Vyvyan arms - I had a pleasant stay Staff were great and very attentive, Parking was free on the grounds and the breakfast was great .I would recomend a stay there while in town.
- Roy (10/5): - Very friendly staff and a brilliant cooked breakfast. The room, although basic, was more than adequate for my needs - bed was extremely comfortable. Shower room was always clean and tidy. Would recommend.
- Luke (10/5): Vyvyan arms hotel ***** - We loved every minute of our time here, the staff were happy smiling people. Very welcoming of our children, the regular crowd of people made it even more homelee in the bar area. This place comes highly recommended by us, if we are ever in the area again we would stay again.
- diana (8/5): - Lovely ladies, helpfull and friendly.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - It ok for one night
- Koyesh (8/5): - Friendly staff and home cooked breakfast
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Lovely stay as always friendly staff great environment
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The room was ok, the shower and wc are on the corridor. It was clean, but not the cleanest hotel I seen. Can be better. The staff was friendly and chatty. That was the only thing 5 stars there, the rest I can say, the hotel has no more then 2 stars.
- C (10/5): Good value for money - First visit to this hotel and would stay again. They were friendly and helpful.
Great full English breakfast.
- Susan (8/5): - Clean and tidy, breakfast good, but accommodation just dated.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Nice little hotel. Could not have wanted any more as everything you would want for a short break on-site. Good value for money.
- Derek (6/5): Not the best Stay ever - The stay.. I did not get the best sleep. Window in room would not fully close therefore all traffic noise could be heard through the night.
Bed. there was no mattress topper, and sheets although fitted did come off in the night.
Bathroom although was aware was shared, the floor mats should not have been there and therefore it didn't make me feel comfortable
- ANASTASIOS (10/5): Affordable stay, close to bud and train station - Very affordable accommodation and the breakfast was good. The staff were friendly
The hotel is close to the bus and train station.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Good place to stau - Nice place to stay. The room is big enough for a family.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - If you don’t mind hearing rats crawling around at night while you sleep, the room wasn’t too bad.
- CHERYL (8/5): Home from home - Very friendly welcome and like a home from home..loved the colour scheme in the room and smelled and looked clean..very important in a covid world
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great place to stay, building has lot of character and the staff couldn’t be more helpful
- Richard (10/5): Would stay again - Nice place,Nice people
- Cora (10/5): Good stuff. Thumbs up - The stay was brilliant. The window in the room was broken but it was fine we didn’t care. Would definitely stay there again.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Good value for money - This was good value for money. The only downside was the single toilet, with no handbasin, was shared between all the rooms, also the shower. The reception was friendly and cheerful and we enjoyed the full English breakfast. We loved the fish tank!
- Neil (8/5): Little piece of Cornwall - Very friendly and welcoming breakfast was excellent
- David (8/5): - Old-fashioned B&B, a bit tired but you’ll get a warm welcome and a decent breakfast.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - A really friendly place, well situated and huge breakfasts!
And a parrot!
- Marc (8/5): Would stay again - Nice little place, cheap, good breakfast included and the staff were super friendly. The toilet situation is strange, the toilet's in 1 room, shower in another and the sinks in your bedroom. Also they could do with getting new matresses, the ones there now are very well used.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Nice friendly place with good accommodation. When in this area again we would book here for sure
- Amanda/David (10/5): - The staff was polite and kind. We were upgraded to a larger room without any cost and really appreciated! For breakfast we had the full English breakfast that was included in the price. It was a fair price for the facilities. The room is a bit outdated decor but comfy beds nevertheless. The towels were brand new. The shared WC were clean and looked nice. Thanks for having us!
- Andrew (6/5): Ok for the price - Ok for the price
- Tim (8/5): - Saturday night rate was a good price bearing in mind the liv eMusic down below until midnight
- Verified traveler (4/5): - I found the hotel to be far more basic than I expected on a site like Expedia.
The whole expreience was of a fairly run-down property with a cheery lady who showed us to our rooms and supplied us with a good breakfast.
I had intended to have our evening meal elsewhere so did not investigate that option - but did not see any reference to one.
It met our basic need - somewhere to sleep in a warm room and have a breakfast - so we achieved our aims
- Verified traveler (6/5): NOT SO GOOD - Awful loud music blaring through the ceiling until midnight on evening of arrival after travelling 350 miles from Kent, wanted to sleep but couldn't! Awful smell in stairway on way up to room lingering there all week, busy main road, old and dated but cheap and cheerful.
- Desislav (2/5): - Smell on wc
- jimlandells (8/5): - Basic pub accommodation, but, clean tidy rooms, clean and tidy bed and bedding, clean and tidy bathrooms and toilets and towels. Good breakfast. Very nice friendly and helpful staff.
Don't be put off by first impression, very good value for money.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Land lady was rude once i arrived telling me it was 1.50 and the room would not be ready until 2pm but was gone 2 when i arrived.
Building looks as if it is falling down at the back where my window faced out and the cooked breakfast was hardly hot or even cooked. Surprised i did not get ill. Will not stay there ever again.
- canada (8/5): - outdated coffee cups in room dusty noisy from bar
- Mel (2/5): You wont sleep through the noise - terrible noise, dirty shared shower
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Cheap and cheerful, good breakfast. A little noisy while the pub was open in the evenings.
- Mel (10/5): Very good budget accomodation - Very good budget accommodation with friendly and helpful staff
bed was very hard and had to use the duvet from the other bed to soften it otherwise great
- Roy (8/5): Update, upgrade, freshen up the decor - I thought the staff were excellent, and the room was spacious however whilst the wardrobe was large it had one coat hanger my bed was not made per day. The location was ideal for me and the bathroom was cleaned daily for which I was great full for as I had dropped my passport and the staff found it. I feel with some investment improvements can be made. In future I will not be staying with you in the future but I wish you well. Regards,Roy
- A (8/5): Good B&B establishment with delightful staff - I enjoyed my stay in CamborneI enjoyed my stay in CamborneI enjoyed my stay in CamborneI enjoyed my stay in Camborne
- ateve (8/5): Cheap & cheerful. - Friendly. Shared shower & loo not do great but good breakfast.
- red (4/5): - Required a base to explore area ..needed a comfortable clean room and a good breakfast...I feel someone from your company should visit these premises and give your clients a clear picture of what is on offer...apart from a very dated decor there was an awful smell as soon as the door to residents room stairs was opened.....
- Mark (8/5): Did exactly what I needed - Down to see the younglings for the weekend. Just needed somewhere to lay my head for the night. Room was spacious and bed comfortable. Slept like a log. Staff very friendly. I'll be back.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Reasonable - Good value for money, good overall stay but really did not appreciate being accused of smoking weed in the room by landlady in front of my daughter when i do not smoke at all. NOT GOOD!!!!!
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Room smelt, towels smelt, breakfast poor
