• Vivienne (8/5): - Only there for an overnight stay, but would return again and recommend to others. Small but functional room. Well supplied with essentials. Friendly helpful staff. When having travelled a long way with dogs I wanted somewhere to walk them and find somewhere to eat
• Rae (6/5): - Lovely location. Enjoyed walking into the small town. Plenty of good eating & drinking places. Decent clean room, very good for the price. The only downside was the thinness of the walls & ceiling. We could hear EVERYTHING & every word in the adjacent room & every movement in the room above. That's fine as you're the one getting up regularly throughout the night or the first ones up having a shower --not so much if you like your sleep & a bit of a lay in beyond 6 am. Good wifi Comfortable beds in twin room no 5
• Ian (8/5): Overall good stay but some improvements are needed - The checkin was fast and efficent, the room and bed were comfortable. The pillows were stained and the fridge had a mouldy smell when you opened it. I was dissapointed that the bar stopped serving by 5:00 on a Saturday. As we only arrived at 4:30. The staff were friendly and the entertainment was good.

• Alastair (6/5): Just OK!!! - Just about OK for a room for the night but the room rate for what you get reflects the lack of choice of accommodation in the area!!! For example, we are staying just outside York later in the year and have a room, B&B rate for less than we paid here!!!

• Frances (10/5): - We were right in the town centre, which made it convenient for shopping and places to eat. We felt very welcome and at home. The facilities were clean and very comfortable, and all the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. We would stay again at the drop of a hat!

• David (8/5): Staying in Sherburn - My stay was perfectly fine. The accomodation is sensibly priced and 'does exactly what it says on the tin!'
• Verified traveler (6/5): Just OK - Stayed in Room 1. The bedroom furniture looked quite new and smart, but the bed had broken or mismatched bed knobs on the head and foot boards. The bathroom really could do with a make over. The shower temperature was very difficult to manage once the shower was in use. The grouting on the tiles in the shower was black in places, making it look dirty. There was a something black hanging from the sink tap, which came off when wiped, Otherwise the room was clean.

• Clayton (10/5): - Like: Everybody was so friendly and welcoming, there was a nice pub area with billards and darts..and a fun triva and bingo night..and quick maintenance done on my bathroom light Not Like: i hurt my ankle a few days prior, and i wish there was a taxi service available to take me to the train station a mile away with all my luggage
• Janet (6/5): - We stayed for 1 night, this place was spotless, only downside was the shower was very poor, very low water pressure.
• Daniel (6/5): Average at best - Staff was lovely and really helpful when we arrived. Location was good and had a good size car park right where we was staying. The room was a nice cosy room with nice clean beds but the beds seemed springy and cheap which played on my back the next morning. Also the shower itself I’ve felt more pressure from staying in the rain which made it hard to take a shower.
• John (10/5): Elmet - a small Celtic kingdom - still has charms - The accommodation, which is fairly basic but very modern, is in a stone cottage at the rear of the pub. It has been converted into en suite bedrooms. Although the pub doesn't serve evening meals, we only had to go next door to the excellent Saffron restaurant (see my other review). The bed was comfortable, the tv had an almost infinite number of channels, and large towels were provided. The only thing which didn't work was the broadband; there was a sign in the room giving the password but I couldn't get it to log in. Given the high prices now operative in York, and the fact that Sherburn in Elmet is only a 20 minute drive away, this represents excellent value for money.

• Verified traveler (4/5): Not what I was expecting - I'll start by saying the staff were lovely and very helpful, the room and entrance/ stairs was clean and the pub was great. Sadly, the bed felt to be similar to staying in a mates spare room they rarely use or check, the pillows were flat, the bed very soft and the bed sheets quite dated. The window wouldn't close at all so had to stay permanently ajar, less than ideal given the weather. The rail used as a wardrobe wasn't securely fitted to the wall so felt like it may fall off. Only one beside cabinet so had to sit my brew and phone on the floor. No bathroom bin, so be sure to take sani bags ladies. There is an unlocked loft hatch and the boiler cabinet housed in the bathroom is closed using a bit of plastic. The toilet was very close to the radiator so care needed not to burn your leg. It is such a shame because as I said the staff are so lovely but I feel I would be wrong to not give an honest review. It truly could be amazing. WON'T LET ME ADD PHOTOS???!!!

• Helen (4/5): - Property advertised restaurant which was one of the main reasons we booked so we didn't have to drive anywhere as only there for one night. The pub no longer did meals but we were not informed if this and website still falsely advertises This. We had to go out to look for somewhere to eat and there's only 2 Indian restaurants which were fully booked which totally ruined our evening stay. The door to the apartments didn't fit properly and had to be kicked to open so was noisy when other guests were coming back in. We appealed for some refund and they totally refused. Property was clean though but mattresses thin and basic. Would not return

• Helen (8/5): Clean & Peaceful - Maggie was very welcoming and showed me to room 2 making sure the radiator was turned up. The room & bathroom were spotless (I've stayed at some well known big hotels where there were cobwebs & spiders in corners, dirty plug holes in showers & dusty), so was really happy with the cleanliness throughout. There was complimentary soap, hair & shower wash. Tea & coffee. For one nights stay the bed was comfortable enough. The only missing items were a towel rail & floor mat for stepping out of the shower. Room 2 was very peaceful & I will stay here again in December :)
• Lindsay (2/5): On no account go anywhere near this place - This is the worse place in which I have ever stayed. It was dirty, with a heavily stained carpet. Wallpaper was peeling from the walls. There was no chair in the room. There was one bedside cabinet but nothing on the other side. The lighting was dreadful and it was impossible to read in bed. There were no wifi instructions so going online was impossible. No member of staff was available or visible apart from booking in and that was a disinterested response from a member of the bar staff who could not wait to leave us and get back to the bar. The shower was a trickle. The noise intrusion from other rooms was severe. I even heard loud snoring from somewhere throughout the night. There were at least 3 significant H&S failings. The bathroom door would not close. The toilet would not flush properly and it needed about 4 attempts to clear it. There was no toilet brush in the bathroom. There was no soap dish or shelf in the shower. The radiator was peeling paint, it was rusty, dirty and unhygienic. Loose wires were dangling from the TV. The bed was cheap and old fashioned with an ill fitting mattress so that the cheap pillows disappeared into a void. Bedding and towels had been washed (I think) but they were old and threadbare. Printed information was low quality and included a booklet for a microwave that did not exist. This place is so bad that it should be removed from any accommodation search engine. Truly shameful

• Roy (4/5): - Mould on wall, stained carpet, metal framed spring bed which made noise when ever you moved. Could hear every noise from upstairs room included toilet action. Only plus side parking was good.

• Verified traveler (8/5): Basic, had what we needed, but time for a refit - The Oddfellows was a welcoming place to stay. Basic but had what we needed. The rooms are overdue a spruce up now though and a refit. The electrics need looking at. Some of the sockets arent working and so there is a 2-way adaptor fitted into the working socket to compensate. An immediate improvement required would be the replacement of a bare-wired extension lead for the kettle in room 6.

• Emily (8/5): Lovely & warm! Walls are very thin! - Welcomed by a polite member of staff - very helpful & showed me to my room. Lovely and warm on arrival - really cosy as it was very cold outside! Comfortable for the night! Was a shame that the walls were so thin and I could hear every word and action of the next door room! Bathroom was a bit tired and ready for an upgrade

• Moses (6/5): Didn't need to take pictures as i am not there to judge - Overall this is a good place but i would like to suggest getting anti slipery mat in the showers and some new towels white towels please we used old towels that look like they had some brown detergent stains but apart from that a good service.
• L Rout (10/5): Pet friendly! - Warm welcome, great staff. The room was great for the price. My dog was allowed into the pub as well as being able to stay in my room. The only issue I had was that the water pressure wasn't great, but they had fitted a better shower head to help this. So all in all, a great stay. Thanks

The staff and customers in the adjoining pub were very polite and friendly. Overall a very enjoyable stay and would stay again if in the area for work.

Toilet jammed in between a wall radiator and the shower i.e no room for the elderly or disabled. No breakfasts available all in all very expensive for a low quality room

• Errol (8/5): - Rooms at the back of the pub in a nice friendly village. However, contrary to their expedia page, they do not offer breakfast. That said - Penny's up the road was great. You can hear everything - and I mean everything - in the rooms upstairs. And the curtains do virtually nothing to stop the sun coming through in the morning. So if you are looking for a lay in - forget it. The restaurant for evening meals was only available from Thursday - Sunday. That said - a great WIFI connection, very friendly staff, and the room was really quite warm and cosy.

I had very noisy people in the room beneath mine and there was little sound proofing but that was bad luck - I'd stay again.

The room was perfect for my needs,the host and staff very welcoming and although I didn’t get much time to do much other than work and sleep I had a few pints in the very friendly bar on my last night! Excellent!

As we were playing golf and not expected back till 8pm when they normally stop taking orders the chef agreed to hang on for us. Accommodation adequate for the price and would stay again.

• Morhaf (4/5): Never again - I went to spend Christmas with my daughter around Selby attempting to book a taxi from my Daughters house to the hotel being Christmas day the only one was available at 22:30 Contacting Hotel at 12:5; an answer phone saying please leave a message and your phone number and someone will call me no one called back phoned again 14:13 advising the hotel that I will not be able to arrive due to taxi shortages till 22:45 approx.; to be told well the bar & hotel will be closed and I need to ring at arrival and May be someone will let you in!! not happy or assured with this response I stayed at my daughters house as it could have been a problem if no one answered and the shortage of taxies at that day would have caused big problem I will never stay in this hotel again I lost my money due to lack of care

• Verified traveler (4/5): - The room was not cleaned properly. The wardrobe smells foysty, it has dead insects in it. The bathroom has damp an no toilet brush. There is a holder but no brush. The draws also have dead insects in them. There is a bedside lamp which has no bulb in it. The bedding is clean which is very important to us as my bedding at home always is but the cleanliness overall is very poor. The staff were friendly but seemed more interested in the regular customer to the public house of the bar. Would stay here again if the cleanliness was to improve but only if it improved..

• Verified traveler (8/5): £40 a night. A bargain. - A perfect place if you don’t want the hustle and bustle of the city centre of Leeds. The building is behind the pub. You can here noise but this is from the other rooms. The place is clean and comfortable. £40 a night is very good indeed
