Guest Reviews
- Donald (8/5): - Great front porch sitting area. Cookies. Wine in living room.
- Devon (6/5): - I stayed for three nights in the Matrix room. (When I checked in the paperwork said it was the room I had ‘chosen’ however because I booked on Expedia I was only given a vague description of each type of room - size of bed etc - and the preferred price point). Check in was fine. The woman checking in was kind but seemed eager to leave. Once she left at 330pm there was no one on staff in the house at all until the next morning. This was the case every day.
Some pros are that the house is in a quiet neighborhood and the grounds are lovely. It’s also just a 10-15 minute walk to downtown.
Cons are: Breakfast was very hit or miss (good the first day and progressively worse each day after). I asked for a quiet room but instead was put in a room at the top of the stairs (again, I didn’t pick my room). It was fine the first day when the inn was basically empty but as the inn filled up it got more noisy. Also the CONSIDERABLE noise coming from the kitchen each morning traveled right up the stairs. The most disappointing part was the room itself. The bed was new and comfortable but as others have noted, my room was shabby. I appreciate that it’s an old inn and that they want to lean into that look, but there were frayed throw pillows, a dilapidated arm chair, cobwebs in the corners, pealing paint on the baseboards and bathroom ceiling and a dingy carpet. The
- Janice (6/5): - The Inn is a beautiful old building. The decor is charming. My issues have to do with the upstairs bedroom. The weather was very warm for our 3-day stay. The day we arrived, the air conditioning in our room wasn’t functioning. It made for a miserable night’s sleep. The next afternoon the repairman came. The air conditioning was better, but still required a fan at all times. Advice: don’t get an upstairs room in the summer.
- Julie (10/5): - Only one complaint. The bed was stiff.
- Susan (10/5): - Lovely grounds and rooms. Delicious breakfast.
- DANIELLE (10/5): - Lovely historic house, conveniently located close to the square. The staff was very helpful and the breakfast was delicious.
- Thomas (8/5): - Pros: The location to downtown Healdsburg was great. Walkable to all the great restaurants and shops. Great bathroom and shower in the room.
Cons: you only interact with staff at check-in and breakfast. Other than that there is no one around. Our king room was so small there was barely any room for luggage and only one small desk sized chair to sit on. There were no windows other than the entry door so no fresh air in the room and the air conditioner blew directly over the bed. It was fine for 2 days, but next time would book a different room.
- Neil (10/5): - Very Nice. Friendly people.
- Russell (10/5): - We stayed at The Calderwood Inn Valentines week 2025. It is a beautiful, well kept B&B. The people were wonderful and the breakfasts were very tasty. Walking distance to the Healdsburg square and less than 10 minutes to the Dry Creek Valley. We will definitely stay there again!
- AMY (10/5): - Nice rooms, good breakfast, easy to walk to shopping area and tasting rooms. Would definitely go back.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Go to in Healdsburg - Great stay as always!
- Kathleen (10/5): - The inn is old and lovely. The staff are friendly, even fun. Wine when you arrive; cookies often.
- deborah (10/5): - This place is beautiful and the staff were quite accommodating. Next time, I’d upgrade from ‘standard’ room as I prefer a shower to a tub only.
- Dina (10/5): - It was a cozy and quiet B&B near the heart of Healdsburg. I was close to everything I wanted to do from horseback riding to wineries.
- carolynn (10/5): - lovely home and staff - great meals
- CYNTHIA (6/5): - Although the rooms were clean and presentable there were items that need addressing. Screens were damaged, toilet & faucets were leaking, bed was very soft and had dips in it, ac was very loud. We had to change our initial room because there was no air flow and it had a moldy smell. We couldn’t use the ac because it was so loud.
- Donato (10/5): Great Location with Charm - The property was charming given its age but it was well maintained and clean. The grounds were really cute. Things ran very efficiently. Parking was ample. Breakfast was great - they did a wonderful job accommodating our dietary needs. I would absolutely stay here again.
- Archna (10/5): - A lovely well furnished B&B with lovely santique furnishings. Gracious hostess . Clean comfortable room . Appreciated the french press to make coffee whenever i want it
- Gina (6/5): - We enjoyed our stay. The house needs to be updated. It feels very old. Bathrooms in king size room was so small. It was a great location.
- Vonna (10/5): - beautifully furnished and welcoming
- Todd (10/5): - Gorgeous B&B with old world charm.... lovely room and the main house was beautiful with no small detail missed. The staff was great and breakfast was terrific. Easy check in and out. Great experience!
- Richard (8/5): - Lovely one night stay. I had a lovely room upstairs, super comfortable bed, lovely downstairs and front porch sitting area. Nice people. Best part was the price -- super reasonable. I didn't have a specific place I liked to stay in Healdsburg, but I do now.
- Robin (6/5): - We stayed 2 nights and the air conditioning just couldn't do the job. In fareness it was in the 80's during the daytime. The room was nice but the bathroom was tiny. The staff was nice and the breakfast was good as well.
- Janice (10/5): - Great innkeepers
Relaxing upscale setting
- Jan (10/5): Old fashion charm - Built in 1908 it was filled with "old-fashioned" charm. The breakfasts were amazing - quite substantial considering we usually have a piece of toast and some fruit. Yummy for sure.
- Caroline (6/5): Misrepresented - I was really looking forward to our stay at the Calderwood Inn. Unfortunately it did not live up to expectations. I think we were in the worst room at the inn. No hot water came out of the sink. The window a/c unit was loud and did not cool the room. The bathroom had a claw foot tub/shower that was really hard for me to get in and out of. I am in good shape, I'm just short.
The pictures listed on Hotels.com and their website did not represent the room I stayed in. I feel like it was a bit of a bait and switch.
It was within walking distance to Healdsburg so that was nice and the breakfasts were nice. But since I can't shake feeling of being bamboozled by the how they represented the inn online. It was not worth $300 a night and I wouldn't recommend it to friends.
- Catherine (6/5): - A charming old guesthouse. It was a fairly comfortable place to stay and convenient for walking into the town center and situated right next to the bike path. The guest house has some outdoor seating areas, it would’ve been nice if these were cleaned out for guests to enjoy the outdoor space. Breakfast is served, but there is no communication about any food options or guest dietary requirements. My room on the top floor was comfortable, the bathroom had a lovely clawfoot bath (which needed a better plug to retain the water) but no shower - and sloped ceiling, while quaint, meant no standing up straight in most of the bathroom. Overall, it was safe on a quiet street, comfortable and just right for a couple of nights.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Pretty property and great innkeeper. - Pretty property, and beautifully restored main level, in a good location. It would be walkable to downtown in good weather. The innkeeper is very hard working and organized, provides good information about the area, and serves a nice breakfast. Free wine tasting is available at many affiliated wineries. We especially liked Mozzocco. Our room was in the lower level, with a king bed, and private entrance with patio. Better soundproofing, softer pillows, a full length mirror, and better lighting would make this 5 star, but we were happy overall.
- S (10/5): - My room was in a renovated basement so there was no view and I was under the stairs so it was rather loud. Other than that, I loved everything.
- Verified traveler (6/5): It’s fine. - Very nice staff, easy 10-minute walk to town square. However, this is not a place to stay when the temps are over 90F. The a/c upstairs is terribly inadequate, while downstairs in the lovely public rooms was cool. On the hottest night there was no airflow into my room. And the busted tiny fan in the room was little help. The bedding and towels were pristine white, and soft, but the 4 pillow inserts were old and tired and in need of a total replacement. Great location for a Spring or Fall visit. Breakfast each day was tasty but only available from 8:30-9:30am.
- Christopher (10/5): - We loved the location and friendly and helpful staff. Lovely breakfast and great to be able to chat to other guests
- Laurie (10/5): - Great weekend away stay. Quiet and homey. Loved the bocce ball set up and front porch.
- Peter (10/5): Idyllic guesthouse in Healdsburg - We enjoyed our 2 night stay at the charming Calderwood Inn. This quiet, old house provides comfortable rooms, a large seating area with wine tastings, and a robust, freshly prepared breakfast. It is an easy walk from the Inn to the center of Healdsburg and the Calderwood makes a great base for touring the Sonoma and Napa wine regions.
- Betty (10/5): - Very good location and quite
- Kelly (8/5): - My husband and I booked a weekend here and it was for the most part lovely. We especially loved the beautiful gardens, common areas, especially the massive, yet cozy front porch.
It is an old house and our bathrooms reflected this--especially struggled with the clingy, stiff-plastic curtain around the cast iron tub for showering.
Staff were attentive, with lovely extras such as wine served in the afternoons with a charcuterie board or cookies. The breakfasts were not quite up to what I would expect for a place this wonderful.
- Thomas (10/5): - One of the best B&B’s we have stayed in. Wonderful food , staff and afternoon wine
- Hillary (10/5): - Very cute B&B. Staff is friendly and it’s easy to walk to the town of healdsburg
- Susan (10/5): - Lovely old inn with charm and character, but in need of some repairs and a bit of a facelift. It has the land and potential to be more than it currently is: some touch up paint and maybe some cornhole or croquet in the backyard. Complimentary wine and homemade chocolate chip cookies and delicious breakfast. All in all a nice place to stay in walking distance of the square with restaurants and shops.
- Michael (10/5): - Nice B&B at a great value. Walking distance to the square. Great breakfast.
- Maria L. (10/5): - Breakfast was delicious . Staff very supportive and clear in the instructions to check in late. Super recommendable.
- Brian (10/5): Convenience and Perks - A lovely inn, with terrific breakfast every morning. Located a nice easy 10-minute walk from the Healdsburg Plaza. Everyone super-friendly.
An added bonus is that wine tastings (which they are happy to schedule for you) at any of their ELEVEN related wineries are free!
- Marjorie (10/5): - The staff was extraordinarily friendly and helpful. When we needed assistance with reservations for dinner, they helped get us into restaurants that were fully booked (on Valentine's Day) and we had wonderful dinners. And the inn is also affiliated with 11 tasting rooms with complimentary tastings - a huge deal when so many are so pricy. Breakfast was also lovely and delicious. A wonderful stay and a convenient walk to the beautiful village of Healdsburg.
- Nancy (10/5): - Lovely home and convenient to the square. The beds were great and so was breakfast.
- Beth (4/5): - The building was very unique and nicely furnished.
- Kathleen (10/5): Great stay - We had a wonderful stay. The only issue was that the fact that one of us is lactose-intolerant did not get communicated to the kitchen staff the first day, but when they did know they were very accommodating.
- Michele (10/5): Wonderful - Beautiful place to stay and Haley was very helpful in finding us a dinner place and wine tasting just around the corner and then she made and served a wonderful breakfast the next morning. You feel very welcomed and comfortable here!
- Scott (6/5): - No shower. Expensive for what it was.
- susan (8/5): - Overall- nice place to stay!!!
- van (10/5): - Beautiful property
- nancy (8/5): Island Girl - The Inn is located in an area close to the town square, so it’s convenient to walk to shopping and restaurants. The mattress was a little too soft for my tastes but others may find it to be comfortable. We also didn’t like the sloped ceilings—we were concerned that we’d walk into them
- Elaine (10/5): - I loved this inn! It was so relaxing. They made you feel so welcome. The breakfast settings and meals were lovely. The front porch was great for a visit with friends. Easy 10 minute walk into town. I'd come back here in a heartbeat!
- Gregory (10/5): - We will return.
- Andrew (10/5): Simply wonderful - Such a wonderful visit. We needed a stop on our way to Mendocino and this was a perfect respite. Lovely people and such a treasure of a property. Excellent breakfast, complimentary wine, and the coziest room. Can’t wait to visit again!
- Jack (10/5): - Breakfast was awesome
- Kristine (10/5): - Wonderful place to stay as a couple or with a few friends. We enjoyed the nice touches in the room also very comfy bed, comfy sheets, great bay window and plenty of space.
When we came back from dinner in there were fresh baked cookies! We sat on the porch with friends and enjoyed a few bottles of wine we picked up close by. Just around the corner from Seghesio’s tasting room.
Amazing breakfast served with fresh squeezed OJ and nice strong coffee. Amber is incredibly kind and we really enjoyed speaking with her and getting ideas on where to go next.
- Jerry (10/5): - The house is a beautiful elegant home. The breakfast was excellent. The bed was very comfortable. As you would expect in an older home, the bath reflects the age of the home. It’s part of the charm.
- Dallas (10/5): Charm in town - Beautiful, charming, and comfortable inn. Just a couple of blocks over to excellent restaurants in town.
- Robert (10/5): - Liked the gardens surrounding property. Well tended.
It was so quiet especially considering the number of people present.
I appreciated that we could stay one night. My husband is not a bnb person and he said he would return. Breakfast yum!
- Stephen (10/5): Even better than expected - The Innkeepers were kind and helpful, the inn was exactly as beautiful as it was in the pictures. We had a great time and will definitely come back soon.
- Andrea (10/5): Highly recommend the Calderwood InnQ - We had a wonderful stay. The innkeeper was very gracious. We enjoyed our complimentary glasses of wine by the fireplace. The room was well kept and the bed was very comfortable. The breakfast was outstanding in every way: fresh juice, mini-breakfast loaf, and a fantastic omelet.
- Alexander (10/5): Great B&B - Very happy visit during our friends harvest party weekend. The staff was so kind and attentive and catered to our specific needs with a smile. We would definitely stay there again.
- Deborah (6/5): - Fefinite B&B. Our room had a sloped ceiling in the bathroom. I am 5’2” and kept hitting my head on the ceiling. My husband is 6’2” so imagine his experience. European bath tub. No way for my husband to shower. Luckily we met an amazing couple that let us use their walk in shower. Sink very low with separate hot & cold spouts. Bed was okay. Needs new carpet. This is a historic building so if you like that old smell no elevator drag your luggage up 3 flights of stairs you would love it here. There are better rooms than the one we stayed in. Breakfast was nice. Overall very accommodating lovely people. Perhaps better description of each room with pictures on the site would have been more helpful. Just stating a standard room with broad description of property would have helped us make a better decision.Every room is different. Easy walk on path to plaza. Grounds were beautiful.
- Miles (6/5): - Property and grounds were cute. Room was very expensive considering noise, musty smell and no ventilation other than wall installation. Sub standard for Healdsburg.
- Tauna (8/5): - Beautiful place! Friendly staff! Wonderful breakfasts! We will be back for sure!!
- Theresa (10/5): - The staff at the Inn were helpful and responded quickly to any issues.
- Jeffrey (8/5): Cute old house B&B in Healdsburg - A very cute, old, large house about a 10 minute walk north of downtown central Healdsburg. The rooms and halls are quite spacious for such an old house and while some of the things in the room were a bit run down, that's definitely to be expected in these kinds of places. The breakfasts were a bit disappointing (not much food, and not very flavorful), but overall we had a nice experience there.
- Dena (10/5): We will be back again and again! - We have stayed here before- we have been pleased both times! Megan was very helpful and accommodating. We also bring our dog and that has been great too. Breakfast was AMAZING!! You eine be disappointed!!
- Mai-Loan (10/5): - Great location, nice amenities, friendly staff.
- Mark (10/5): - This is a great place to stay, charming, historical, quiet, great neighborhood, restaurants nearby, awesome house!! Homemade breakfast was crazy charming and good!! I am coming back for sure.
- Greg (8/5): - Pricey but close to town and wonderful breakfasts! Due to Covid we had no room service and we finally found garbage on the street to empty our overflowing can but room was clean and comfortable. Wish there was more connection to other guests and staff. I think without Covid, they have wine tastings and snacks but we saw only private parties.
They had a nice glass of wine for us when we checked in though!
- John (2/5): Beware - We had a horrible time with this B&B. The bathroom was essentially unusable. The room sloped down allowing just a small space above the toilet. It was impossible to stand anywhere near the toilet - and even sitting was a challenge. Fortunately, there was a public restroom on the first floor. There was no shower - but this was a minor inconvenience compared to the toilet problem. And we were given no prior warning or notice of this issue - yet were charged $332/night for this room. Beware and make sure you know what you're getting before booking this place!
- eric (10/5): - Very nice and clean place. A bit pricey. Could use on site beverage and food amenities
- Tracey (10/5): - Clean and private! Excellent location. I love the fresh fruit and juice for breakfast. I love the private patio. Also, we thought the in keeper hospitality was outstanding. There were 2 glasses of wine waiting for us as we checked in! 5 stars all the way. Thank you
- Verified traveler (10/5): - What a sweet old house! Great porch area to lounge in, the beds were SO comfortable! Oh, and the cookies!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Really enjoyed the room at the inn, bathroom was excellent. Lots of privacy. Great cookies and breakfast with a short walk to the square. Would definitely stay here again
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Charming! Thoughtful touches like fresh cookies, welcome glasses of wine, porch swings, etc. were wonderful. House was decorated with style!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - A wonderful experience all around! We will be back!
- Kent (10/5): Short weekend trip - My wife and I stayed in their Mosaic room, which was spacious and beautiful. Lovely garden right outside our door. Quite and 2 blocks from downtown Healdsburg. Will stay there again...
- Janis (8/5): - It was very nice and the place was very clean and the staff friendly.
- Bobbie (8/5): - Beautiful decorations and antiques. Nice outside patios and good mattrice.
- Pablo (10/5): - Great Inn. Room was wonderful, bathroom and huge tub in suite was what I had hoped for.
- Teresa (6/5): At a loss for words almost - Was really. Nice considering i love antiques and old style feel of the place. Being a 1940 mansion i believe. Sadly. Not a dam thing to do. Especially for children. Social distancing didnt put a damper on the breakfast. They leave it outside your door at 9:00am
Couldnt gain access to the free wifi advertised but i slept like a baby, got a sweet deal and the memories i have with my little boy visiting me priceless. A bit dissapointed though honestly. No pool either. Overall beautiful and id probably return. Someday in hopes of a better experience.
- Scott (10/5): - Great service, great location, charming house, super friendly and helpful staff. Would gladly recommend.
- Antoinette (6/5): Nice room, but disappointment overall. - The room was nice, but the TV only had a few channels (blank screen for movie channels) and bedside lamps did not work--one didn't even have a lightbulb. Boxed breakfast didn't arrive until after 8 am and we had to get on the road by 8 am.
- James (6/5): Nice setting - So so staff - Beautiful setting. Nice and clean. Staff seemed more preoccupied with getting through their day than in guests.
- Briana (10/5): Gorgeous Victorian - Gorgeous place, lots of free tastings. Very accommodating and respond to emails quickly. Breakfast was good but not as fancy as pics show. If you have dietary restriction they’ll accommodate you but just take it out, not give you anything else. I’d recommend staying in the house, the suites under are more private but modern.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The property was great. The home was well kept and a wonderful place to stay.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Beautiful house and grounds. Our room was a basement suite; the bathroom could use some updating.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Love the stay. Would recommend to others to stay there
- Mark (10/5): A wonderful surprise - This was an amazing, beautiful place. If you like old fashioned, antique furnishings, and very pleasant staff, this is the place. Breakfast was great. The staff was willing to accommodate our requests. The gas fireplace in the room was a real hit.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great stay - Great experience would definitely stay here again and recommend to e everyone. Walking distance to all of the little downtown area.
- Geraldine (10/5): - Very pleasant. Delicious bteakfast
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Close to Town and very quiet. Staff was great! Wine and cheese was great
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Wine tasting social is great way to meet and chat with other quests
- Susan (10/5): - We were welcomed very warmly and had a wonderful time there.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Quaint little house. Bath fixtures are dated, but that adds to the charm.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Loved the location and old world charm. Could use some basic maintenance and freshening up.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - They had a nice front porch you could sit out on. Did not like that they only served breakfast at 9:00 sharp. We were gone early 2 days so
no breakfast. It would have been nice if they left out some muffins or
fruit for early risers. They had some wine around 5 which was nice.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Calderwood inn - Great stay. Very comfortable. Wonderful staff.
- A Louise (10/5): Great stay in Healdsburg - This is a wonderful bed and breakfast in Healdsburg. This was our first time there, but we will stay again. Breakfast was wonderful. It is also within walking distance to the center of town.
