The property is very special as is the village where it is situated. We cannot recommend it enough and I can’t wait to go back!!

This seems to be a very popular place for locals, however there was no problem with noise. Dinner and breakfast were both great. Would definitely recommend staying here.

Green emergency exit light wrapped in a black bag to cover it for black out darkness to sleep! Took ages for the hot water to come through in the shower, and shower water was a bit low in pressure.

- Gabriele (9/5): Historic Inn with a lot of atmosphere, quiet room and great breakfast! - Very typical pub/hotel in the national park of Exmore National Park. I liked the atmsophare in the hotel a lot and that all rooms had their own vibe and style. It is very quiet there, parking is in the courtyard free of charge and the breakfast was a "full english" and was delicious! Would come back anytime while in the area.

Great room - huge, and everything worked well and was very comfortable. Excellent shower! Very dog friendly throughout. Great walls locally and further afield. Nothing!

Our bedroom was quaint and cosy, good linen and lots of homely touches. Excellent dinner and breakfast! We can’t wait to return.

- Julie (10/5): Best food out for a long time. - We enjoyed everything from arrival to departure. Friendly, helpful owners and staff. The food at dinner was above excellent. Beautifully cooked, no excessive wait, hot and had so many extra touches. If you are looking for a sleepover or two on Exmoor, stop looking and book The Royal Oak, you won't regret it! Nothing. If money were no object in this day and age I might landscape the garden a bit and possibly change the tables in the Breakfast Room.

Will consider coming back here for sure. The mattress was slightly uneven but I think that’s because of the age of it. Would be great to change it at some point otherwise everything else was fabulous

The bathroom was well stocked with shampoos, body wash and creams and the shower had great water pressure. Breakfast was delicious and the staff was really helpful and welcoming. Had a fabulous time!
- Ombeline (10/5): Exceptional - This is a beautiful little pub in a lovely village. It is traditional and cosy inside with couches and mutliples fireplaces. The room was large and well furnished, very comfortable. Also a large bathroom with great shower pressure. We also stayed for dinner, which was fantastic. The staff are very friendly. We had a great stay and couldn't recommend it enough. Nothing.

Staff provide the example of how hospitality should be done The green (emergency exit?) lamp in the bedroom could do with dimming in some way. Brightest one I’ve ever encountered and illuminated the whole room on its own!

- Catherine (9/5): Great pub in Exmoor - Jayne and her team were very friendly and welcoming, really great pub in the middle if Exmoor! A little slow on food service in the evening, believe this was because of the pub being extra busy over the dinner period.

- Lee (10/5): Beautiful old country Inn with warm welcome - Beautiful old Inn with a lovely cosy warm bar area and great choice of beers and ales on tap. Lovely roaring log burner as you walk into main bar. Room was huge with a very comfortable bed and the tea tray was well stocked. The room was furnished very well with great quality black out curtains. Lovely and clean room. 🙂 The shower in the bathroom had a powerful rain forest shower head which was an absolute delight. Dinner was good quality and very tasty. We both had steak and really enjoyed it. I loved the blue cheese sauce which accompanied my steak. The full English Breakfast was also very tasty and served piping hot 😋. Owners and staff are lovely and make you feel very welcome. I love that they accept dogs and our dog had a fab time. We will definitely be back. Small signs of damp in bathroom ceiling but I do appreciate it's a very old building. I wouldn't say i didn't like it. I feel it just needs to be rectified. My shower in the early evening was luke warm when I really needed a hot shower but I know the place was busy with all rooms full so maybe everyone had showers before me and drained the hot water tank. In the morning it was lovely and hot.

(This is NOT a brewery-owned hotel - Superb food and hospitality, and a beautiful, authentic country inn, hosted by the lovely Jane and Steve who love hosting their guests. The food is a total knockout: Fresh ingredients, perfectly cooked and seasoned. Just superb. The joy and passion the chefs put into their cooking is evident, and you can taste it in every mouthful. This place is one in a million. Zero (and I’m fussy :)
- Christopher (10/5): Great break but also I was able to visit my Sister locally. - Great location for Exmoor especially if you're into walking and hiking. Climbed Dunkeld point. Quiet location. Great pub food above a gastropub. All the staff wanted to make your stay special and you are made to feel special guests. Yes I hope we can stay again. I cannot think of anything.
