Guest Reviews
- Stephen (5/5): its a pub mainly, not really geared up for hotel guests - Hotel is very clean and very comfortable did not open until after 6.00pm so could not check in, so resulted in us having dinner somewhere else
- Richard (10/5): -
- CHB (9/5): - Very comfortable room. Hot drink options in the room with real milk and a teapot. The upscale toiletries were a nice surprise. Dinner was exceptional and the breakfast did not disappoint either.
- Richard (10/5): Superior inn - Superb inn, sublime evening meal, extremely comfortable bed, very quiet locationđ, generous carpark, excellent staff, Nothing all superb
- Andrew (7/5): Perfect stopover for seeing family in East Meon. Cosy pub with very friendly staff serving excellent breakfasts and dinn - Very convenient for our stay. Bed was exceptionally confortable. The breakfast of full English was exceptional Basic bathroom with small shower - it was the cheapest option!
- Ian (9/5): -
- Andrea E (10/5): - The greeting, help and instructions were perfect. The pub food was great. The room was clean, easy to access, comfortable. The shower was hot.
- Kennedy (10/5): - Friendly staff. Nice location
- David (8/5): Good value for money. Friendly staff. -
- Patricia (10/5): Will return, had a lovely time. - The staff are very friendly and welcoming. The food is first class. The facilities are good.
- Oscar (10/5): -
- John (10/5): Perfect hosts,comfy bed,great breakfast. - Great breakffast,lovely location Nothing

- Catriona (9/5): We always have a delightful time at Ye Olde George Inn! - Ye Olde George Inn is consistently good. Never disappoints. The staff are in a class above the normal, particularly Ian & Kay, both of whom are so welcoming so you feel itâs a home away from home. Nothing.
- Scott (10/5): - Characterful pub with comfortable rooms in a lovely village next to the Downs. Cracking food too, served by very friendly and helpful staff. Nothing.
- David (9/5): Great value room & service - Very comfortable room at a great price. Although above a pub on a Saturday night there was no loud noises from below. I was leaving before breakfast, but the owner kindly offered some alternatives that I could take with me.
- Julian (10/5): Fabulous break in February. We stayed, dined, had breakfast, walked three hours, back for lunch! - Excellent dinner, good wines and great breakfast served here. And ultra staff. The pub is well renovated and surrounded by some of the finest countryside in the world. You feel like you're at home from home. One small thing I suggest: get rid of the beds with footboards. I'm 6'3" and footboards disturb me at night.
- Simon Old AC (9/5): Comfortable, peaceful (though a friendly buzz in the bar in the evenings), and great food. - Food (breakfast and dinner) were excellent - high quality for a pub, and well presented, plenty of interesting options. Service and surroundings of the restaurant were informal, comfortable, and relaxing. On arrival everything was locked up until 6pm, so don't be early. Landlord was kind enough to let us in when we asked to use the facilities, but don't expect anyone to welcome you before 6pm.
- Adams (7/5): It was a nice stay over - The accommodation was fine, clean and tidy. Food was lovely and great atmosphere. One of the bar staff.. miserable very unhelpful
- Diana (10/5): A delightful stay in this âolde worldeâ pub. - The staff were friendly and efficient ; could not have been more helpful.
The room; as described. Clean, charming, bed very comfortable. Bathroom, shower small but adequate.
Bar and restaurant; good authentic atmosphere, just what you want from a village pub. Choice and quality of meals, very good. Breakfast, excellent. As youâd expect, you hear some noise from the pub below but once the pub closed it was very quiet. It wasnât a problem for us.
- Andrew (10/5): Perfect overnight stay after a long day! - Despite its twee name Ye Olde George is a fantastic, and fantastically welcoming traditional country pub situated in an idylic (and idylically quiet) village. the food was excellent and breakfast outstanding. Actually nothing!!
- Chris (9/5): -
- James (10/5): Staff fabulous - Great stay. Fabulous location and great friendly staff
- Graham (8/5): -
- Michael (10/5): -
- sarah (10/5): - Lovely - all food cooked to order so very fresh.
Staff very friendly. We will be back again.
- Lynne (5/5): - Staff were friendly and attentive. Room was a bit tired. Ensuite - shower was tiny, had to leave door open when using and was grubby in door grooves and shower rail support coming away had to be pushed back in place. Toilet seat would not stay up, constantly wanted to close even when in use. TV didnt work properly. Room was over bar, so very noisy until 11.45 when pub closed.
- Tyrone (8/5): It was excellent experience - The ambience
- Andrew (8/5): - Travelling for work. Location suited our purposes. Very friendly staff. Good pub atmosphere and pleasant bar food.
- sarah (10/5): -
- Desmond (9/5): Quite expensive but worth every penny - Very warm welcome. The bar was cosy and quite a few people enjoying themselves. The room was very comfortable. The evening meal probably the best we've ever experienced in a country pub. The tea making facilities included a teapot. Wash basin was tiny but the shower too big and hard to get the temperature right. The air freshener in the room didn't smell very nice so we shut it in the wardrobe. We had to ask for a hair dryer.
Don't get me wrong, this is a really decent place to stay and the staff are very thoughtful.
- Lisa (10/5): Perfect, friendly, great food and room - Super friendly and efficient staff. Great food, very accommodating, room and bathroom ticked all our needs. Would def come again! Thank you All lovely
- Anne (9/5): - Lovely location for a quiet country break. Very friendly staff.
- Ruff (9/5): - A character pub. Roads in the area were closed due to Internet works.
- Nigel (8/5): - Breakfast Welcome as came in at opening time
- Paul (9/5): - Lovely pub and nice room in the pretty village of East Meon.
Great service and good food.
- Natalie (9/5): Visiting friends in the area - Clean. Historical. Popular. Busy. Amazing walks. Beautiful walks in nature. Peaceful sleep. Fresh air.
- Claire (10/5): - A charming pub in a super location, it was pleasantly busy with friendly staff and delicious food. The chef was able to cater for my colleague's dietary requirements. The rooms were clean and cosy, the beds were comfortable. The village is quaint with lots of walking opportunities. A beautiful part of the country. The fire doors could do with being oiled. The room next door to me had dogs and it was very noisy when they got up (at least 3 times) in the night to take them outside. This wouldn't put me off returning though.
- Michael (7/5): -
- Nick (9/5): Welcoming and comfy. - Warm welcome in this spotlessly clean large country pub.
Comfy bed, great breakfast, on site parking.
Handy if you have an early/ late ferry from Portsmouth (23 mins). Shower was a bit lacklustre, but also had a bath if you needed a proper soak. Itâs an old building so not totally surprising.
- Jonathan (9/5): -
- Mark (9/5): - The food was absolutely delicious !! The showere was very low and at my height I had to crouch to get under it.
- ian (9/5): its a small hotel five rooms and it means you not queuing behind people for breakfast or anything el - the breakfast ,custom made to order, was one of the best.
Alan and ian and the cheerful housekeeper made it a very good visit
i had to leave sunday i had an urge to change my plans and stay an extra night but i couldnt
However
i will be back in december i wish you hey carried swift ale
a very good local beer
- David (10/5): Perfect pub - Perfect upmarket pub in a beautiful village
- Alex (8/5): -
- Martin (9/5): - Great pub with fantastic food and Badger beers, in a great village. Nothing really
- Carolyn (8/5): Excellent. Would stay again. - Excellent location, clean, well decorated rooms.
Staff super helpful and friendly.
Great value. Breakfast excellent.
- Neil (10/5): -
- Michael (10/5): Off the ferry onwards trip - Great old style pub, good pint, reasonable price and friendly welcome. N/A
- Hazel (10/5): We had a brilliant time here even though we arrived into port later than expected. I phoned the pub and was reassured we - The pub has a lovely feel to it. Nicely decorated and smart. The tables laid out for meals were inviting. The room was comfortable and welcoming. Itâs obvious that thought and care are strong elements which are implemented.
- Paul (10/5): -
- Frank (10/5): Excellent value for money - Great atmosphere wonderful food
Breakfast superb
- Furry_Traveller (10/5): You must stay here. - The staff were so friendly, chef made me some excellent poached eggs on toast for breakfast which were perfectly done. Well done chef! Nothing, it was perfect for what we needed
- Graham (9/5): Great value for money. We had a superb supper, felt more like a restaurant than pub food - Helpful, friendly staff. The breakfast was outstanding , limited selection but varied and delicious, definitely chef produced not your usual fare. Good attention to thoughtful detail in bedroom, bed was comfortable. Shower hot. Outdoor tables with umbrellas. Old pub therefore stairs and lack of extra space.
- Davies (8/5): Value for money. - Breakfast was outstanding đ. Excellent, polite and efficient staff. Room was tired and a bit shabby but bathroom was clean. Toilet seat didn't stay up and shower was underpowered but attentiveness of staff and excellent breakfast more than made up for the minor faults.
- Neil (7/5): -
- Catherine (10/5): -
- Wendy (10/5): A gem - Great menu, comfortable bedrooms, superb breakfast and friendly staff. Nothing
- Sarah (5/5): Having stated there probably ten times before we will probably not return - We have stayed here lots of times. The food is excellent In the restaurant our starter was forgotten and our booking (made directly by phone) was lost. At breakfast the service was surly. Not the standard we have previously experienced.
My booking for a superior double somehow became a booking for one in a very average room with a small bed - very little sleep was had.
- David (8/5): Lovely characterful old pub in a pretty village - The location and character of the pub, the excellent quality of the food (very good breakfast included with the room price) We had dinner there; if you wanted meat, but not beef, there were no options on the menu, which seemed disappointingly limited
- David (8/5): - The welcome and helpfulness on arrival and throughout our stay from the staff. The food was of a high standard, service very good and the location ideal for our purposes. For the purposes of our stay there was nothing that did not meet our expectations.
- Robin (8/5): One night stay - The room was comfortable. The staff was very helpful and friendly. The food was excellent. The shower wasn't very good! There was no hair dryer.
- Jane (10/5): A comfortable welcoming inn with delicious food - A lovely traditional Inn with a warm and friendly welcome in a small, quiet village. Spacious well-appointed room. Delicious evening meal and an excellent freshly prepared breakfast.
- Jones-Hughes (8/5): -
- Ann (9/5): Peaceful place, friendly with excellent food. - A lovely friendly pub, nothing was too much trouble for the staff who were very friendly. Not a place to feel intimidated as very often staff and guests can be stand offish. It was also quiet and apart from the intense heat as it was during a heatwave it was a peaceful place to stay. The "icing on the cake" was the food which was excellent. Our room through no fault of anybody was very hot as there is a boiler and tank in the room(in a cupboard!).. Next time we will choose another room.
- Trix (9/5): - Sfeer, locatie voor wandelingen, kwaliteit eten Kamer aan de kleine kant. Geluid van een warmtepomp o.i.d. buiten
- Boo (10/5): Lovely pub break -
- Val (9/5): - the staff were super friendly and helpful. Very efficient check in. The evening meal was delicious and creative - the shallot and pear tarte tatin was beautifully presented as were the posh fish and chips.
the breakfast was also very generous in portions with good choices and efficient service.
the pub is indeed olde worlde and had a buzzy happy atmosphere.
- James (9/5): -
- Frans (9/5): -
- Annemarie (8/5): -
- sheila (7/5): Not the best place to stay - Very quaint pub Room wasn't very clean. I could write 'Dust' in the dust on the tissue box.
The shower was up a high step.
The boiler was in a cupboard in the room, this is imagine would be noisy in winter.
A noisy air con unit near window so window had to stay shut.
I had brought 2 small desk fans with us otherwise it would have been very hot.
- Sue (8/5): -
- Renee (8/5): Small gem in a small village - This old building is full of charm and gives you a feeling of times past. The rooms are modernized so we did not miss anything.
The staff is very helpful and kind, even when it is busy.
The restaurant offered a variety of dishes for dinner. We had the classic fish and chips, well made and very generous.
Breakfast was very nice, again offering a variety of options.
The location is ideal to go for walks, and as a stopover if you are following the South Downs Way. It was warm, and it would have been useful to have had a fan in the room
- Steven (8/5): Een echte authentieke Engelse beleving - Authentiek gevoel echt in Engeland te zijn met een oprechte gastvrijheid van de gastheer. Echt heerlijke keuken diner maar ook het ontbijt
- Ingrid (10/5): - The staff and esp manager
- Leanne (8/5): It was a lovely and a comfortable stay and breakfast was one of the best weâve had. Staff are very friendly - Staff were very friendly. The pub was lovely and very oldie worldy.
Breakfast was amazing and the price was great too It was a little noisy when trying to sleep but we put that down to the age of the building. Nothing to complain about.
- Mark (9/5): Superb vfm. Dinner awesome - Superb value stay in a lovely old inn. Very comfortable beds. Superb dinner. Ales in vg order. Staff friendly. Shower a bit weak
- Jennifer (8/5): - Helpful staff, beautiful location, comfortable beds Difficult to open windows
- Angela (8/5): Peaceful stay in lovely village - The breakfast was excellent- a choice of continental or cooked. Dinner was great too, and the location was perfect - East Meon is a lovely village. Toilet seat was broken
- M (8/5): Great location, good service, lovely food. - Very friendly staff, super helpful - carrying my mums bag and booking us a table for dinner. Attentive waiting staff for the evening meal.
- David (10/5): An exceptional place with great food clean rooms and friendly staff - A lot of character and a very friendly atmosphere Nothing
- Mollie (8/5): - Nice pub to stay at in this cute town â the food was delicious as well! The rooms were not very sound proof
- Graham (7/5): The pub is in a quiet quaint village. The staff were friendly and the room was nice & clean. - Nice pub in a quaint rural setting Didnât do an early breakfast so was given a couple of croissants & pot of jam the previous night.
- Dave (10/5): Very warm welcome by the staff and the local people was lovely. - The authenticity of the grade 2 listed building and its setting within the village was beyond charming. Nothing
- Jenni (10/5): -
- Laura (10/5): - Lovely place to stay! Friendly staff and they even went the extra mile to pop a fan in my room :) lovely breakfast too - very accommodating and would recommend to anyone! Lovely little village too! N/A
- Evan (7/5): Nice spot in the middle of the village - Lovely village and friendly pub. Good size room. Noise from extorter fan of the kitchen. Could hear the shower and noise from the other rooms. No fan so room was stuffy.
- Jasmin (7/5): -
- Helen (10/5): - Fabulous breakfast
- Steven (8/5): Comfortable friendly and great breakfast - Close by to the South Downs Way A little out dated
- Darren (9/5): -
- Roland (10/5): Jederzeit wieder!
- Jennifer (9/5): Comfortable stay with good food, highly recommended. - Friendly stuff, clean room, comfortable bed, nice toiletries and complimentary tea tray. Excellent breakfast. Lovely village views from room, parking for car,. Would stay again if we return to the area. Room a bit chilly. Bathroom towel rail not heated, rainfall shower operated by bath taps directly underneath so tricky to adjust, washbasin tap spout too close to back of sink so impossible to get wash hands under tap to wash them properly.
- Sharron (10/5): Brilliant, relaxing, comfortable and a great location - Breakfast was brilliant, and location of Inn was also great. Food in the restaurant also very good along with the staff who are friendly and helpful On one breakfast morning a fellow guest came or breakfast and spent most of her time on the mobile phone talking and on her laptop. Which was very selfish of her as the room is small and it became very irritating to me and I am sure the other guests as well.
