- Outrospective Consulting (10/5): Magical - Camilla is the consumate host. Her breakfast session is something else, what an incredible host and experience.
- kelsey (10/5): Magical romantic getaway! - Beautiful renovated mansion with thoughtful touches in great location. Heated floors in the bathroom and giant tub was epic. Property owner is highly attentive, thoughtful and generous. Breakfast was immaculate and so special!! This is a very romantic and special place!

- Michael (10/5): Highly recommended, amazingly decorated, 10/10 - The most amazing place to stay! The house was decorated beautifully, our host was incredible, the breakfast was to die for! We definitely recommend staying here! The location is across the park from the city so was an easy stroll in. Public car park is a few minutes walk around the corner. There’s nothing not to like
- Magnano (10/5): - Camilla is so nice, she was the perfect host who made us feel like home
- Steven (10/5): - A truly unforgettable experience, everything is exceptional! Accommodation, hospitality, breakfast - especially breakfast, not only delicious but sees you through until at least teatime! Camilla is the best host you will ever come across and her recommendations for whatever you what to do are absolutely on point. The ambience is welcoming, relaxing and sumptuous, highly recommended. Would definitely stay here again.
- Christopher (10/5): Gezellig - Camilla is the host who loves to welcome new people and treats you like family, she’s wonderful and serves up a massive breakfast for her guests, offering a welcoming drink on arrival and history chats on the great history of the home and the famous people to have lived there and more.
The house is old and vintage and has great artistic touches throughout with great furniture and ornaments, plants and style to really make you feel like lords of the house. I didn’t mind the price as I know it’s a wonderful place, I would always take a lower price for anything if I could but it doesn’t matter as it’s a wonderful place to stay and be.
- Eric (10/5): The Greatest Boutique Hotel Owner / Host Ever! - Never has my review of a property been defined almost entirely by 1 person working at the property. But this review is different. This review is about Camilla… the one-of-a-kind owner and host of this stunning boutique hotel. Camilla’s reputation precedes her. If you don’t believe me, just read a dozen reviews for this property and count how many times guests rave about her. She’s a gem. A true gem and undeniably the best host of anyone I’ve ever come across in my 25 years of traveling the world.
The room we booked was huge and luxurious. The attention to detail was impeccable. The bathroom was enormous and cozy.
She helped my father and I book a boat tour that she highly recommended and we thoroughly enjoyed.
This morning, she prepared a breakfast fit for a king, or a pair of kings in our situation lol There were countless options and although I didn’t have a large enough stomach to try them all, I tried as many as I could and each one was a perfect 10/10.
Camilla, YOU are the reason for this review. YOU are the reason soooo many people rave about your gorgeous boutique hotel. And YOU are the reason so many of us will return one day. Thank you for making us feel like family, we adore you.
- Fiona (10/5): Stay in a little Palace - Breakfast excellent and beautifully presented. Decor fabulous! Hostess charming.
- Rebecca (10/5): We felt pampered with the beautiful hostess attending to every detail of our stay! - History, eclectic decor, comfort, lighting, ambiance, indescribably amazing breakfast, exceptional hostess Camille!
- Melinda (10/5): Unforgettable experience! - Camilla is the most gracious host I’ve ever met and one of the loveliest people you’ll meet. I wanted to stay somewhere very special for my 50th and this was it! She really goes out of her way to make the experience amazing and took it to the next level by giving me a personal gift on my special day. I audibly gasped when I walked into our room- this is a one of a kind place, hostess that I won’t forget! Nothing. Just be aware that it’s a bit outside of the city (a plus in my opinion) so leave time to get to the central areas.
- Andrew (10/5): Staying at Breitner House has been a privilege. Thank you Camilla for sharing it with us. - Our room was beautifully appointed , the breakfast was just the best.., and saved us money because we definitely didn’t need to buy lunch! The best part of our stay? Camilla, our host. Camilla’s care and attention, make staying at Breitner house truly special. Having to leave!
- Dhari (10/5): Relaxing and enjoyable experience - The host was so nice and kind. the apartment is stylish and artistic. i loved the attention to details but most of all i loved the garden with the beautiful 30 year old tree.
- Max (10/5): Everybody should try this stay. Just amazing - Our host Camilla was perfect
- Ahmad (10/5): Home away from home - Camilla the host is the best ,the suite specious and gorgeous.location is perfect ,you will fell like you are at home away from home .unfortunately we missed her famous breakfast . Nothing
- David (10/5): - A beautiful, historic house with unparalleled and beautiful decor... So amazing and wonderful! The hostess (Camilla) was gracious and friendly, and the breakfasts were truly fantastic. We can't wait to visit again!
- Mark (10/5): - Beautiful large space with lovely garden and an amazing, interesting host who goes well beyond to offer hospitality.
- Pongwut (10/5): - I recently stayed at The Breitner House, a small establishment known for its exceptional service from the owner. After booking, Camilla, the owner, promptly emailed me to ensure a smooth arrival. This charming house is located in the art and literature district and has a rich history, once being the workplace of two famous Dutch painters in the 19th century.
The room was spacious and classically decorated, with a very comfortable bed and a clean, well-maintained bathroom. The highlight of the stay was Camilla's outstanding service, especially her breakfasts. Each morning, she prepared a fresh, surprise menu that was both exceptional in quality and taste. It's worth noting that you shouldn't leave early for a tour without enjoying her breakfast, as good food takes time to cook.
Our room was thoroughly cleaned every day, and when time allowed, Camilla shared detailed stories about the house's history. This house is highly recommended, though it may not be suitable for seniors due to the numerous steps and steep stairs.
- Richard (10/5): Unforgettable experience - What can we say about this amazing boutique hotel. The building is beautiful the interior outstanding, Quirky, stylistic, colorful, full of art pieces, beautiful chandeliers quite simply unique I am sure.
From the moment we entered the hotel we were amazed about the care of our fabulous host Camilla. Greeted with a warm smile and open arms.
The breakfast experience is unforgettable and beautifully served.
The suite was Cosy, spacious, cute and comfortable.
Full of love and romance
We can not recommend the hotel any higher and would have had a totally different experience in Amsterdam had we stayed somewhere else.
We will be back as soon as we can
Fell in love with Camilla and the hotel
We stayed in the Breitner suite
- Jack (10/5): The finest place we have ever stayed and best ever treated by an owner like Camilla. She is the best!!!🤗🍷 - The house was over the top beautiful
With exceptional beds, rooms, bathroom tastefully restored to its original old style condition. Place is fit for royalty. Its wonderful warm feeling created by its terrific owner Camilla!🤗. the garden Suite is over the top and her care to every detail, starting with amenities (wine, chocolates, water, champagne, etc,) not to mention an amazing over-the-top breakfast deserve a 10+++ review. The pictures are what actually exists and represents elegance
- Grace (10/5): Amazing stay at the Breitner House. Amazing space and Camilla was such a welcoming host. Will definitely be back if we a - Great location, close to public transport and right across the road from the park.
Great restaurants just around the corner
Beautiful furnishings, felt like we were staying in a palace
Wonderful bed and breakfast, fresh fruit every morning and the best quiche I’ve ever had.
- Brett (10/5): - Amazing, one of a kind property.
- Beverly (10/5): Exceptional -
- Clint (10/5): - We had a most enjoyable stay at Breitner House! It was the highlight of this trip to Amsterdam (which is saying quite a lot). Camilla is a charming hostess! She proudly told us the history of the house, and served a sumptuous, delicious, and beautifully appointed full breakfast. (She thoughtfully accommodated our dietary restrictions.) The suite was “as pictured” with art-filled walls, beautiful fabrics, and interesting accoutrements. Centrally located for connecting to public transportation, the bedroom was quiet with a comfortable bed. The Breitner House deserves it very high rating. We would definitely stay there again!
- Matthew (10/5): - Camilla was an amazing host! She made us feel right at home and truly works to perfect every detail of the guest experience. Her artistic touch is evident throughout the entire stay. The Isaac Israëls room is breathtaking and had everything we needed. To top it off, Camilla prepares the most delicious, beautiful, and thoughtful breakfasts! Thank you so much, Camilla!
- Sheridan (10/5): - Camilla was a Fantastic host and her bed and breakfast was Magical! The perfect place to stay when you are experiencing the delights of Amsterdam!
- Michael (10/5): Set the bar high and you will not be disappointed. Camilla is the perfect host. Breakfast is wonderful. - This is an absolute gem
- michael (10/5): - Great property. Amazing rooms and breakfast. Unique experience.
- Ivan (10/5): Magnificent! - My stay at this boutique hotel in Amsterdam was an outstanding experience. Camilla, the host, was extraordinary in her hospitality. The breakfast provided is far beyond ordinary, making one feel like a monarch returning home after years of exploration. The rooms are beautifully crafted to transport you to a bygone era, emanating the essence of artists who once worked and resided there. Additionally, its location offers excellent access to the city center, major museums, and the airport.
- Jason (10/5): Exceptional -
- kathy (10/5): - Lovely quiet area and the owner Camilla is a gracious charming hostess. She delights in preparing the most lavish and delicious breakfasts we’ve ever had. All around a delightful experience.
- Mircea (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sarah (10/5): Exceptional -
- David (10/5): Special House - Special Host - A wonderful romantic stay in a beautiful house. Our host was incredible and made our stay so special - would recommend this to anyone looking for something really memorable.
- David (9/5): Superb -
- Mohamed (10/5): amazing vibes - everything I like it
it’s a dream experience
also apart of heaven ♥️ nothing
- Verity (10/5): Exceptional - Breitner House was completely unique and Camilla was an exceptional host.
- Fanglei (10/5): - Staying in the Breitner House is not anything like a normal hotel where you simply get an accommodation. Instead, it is a full experience where you can soak in the history and culture of Amsterdam up close. The spacious suites are gorgeously and artistically decorated, and the property itself sits in a wonderful neighborhood. But perhaps the best part of staying here is the opportunity to sit and chat with the proprietress as she welcomes you with tea and Dutch pie upon arrival and then provides you with an absolutely sumptuous breakfast the next morning. Travel isn't just about seeing the sights, it's also about meeting people. And for those who might be hesitant because the price is a bit above that of a standard hotel, I can only say that for what you actually get for the money, this place is an absolute bargain (the price per square meter of living space is much less than a standard hotel and obviously the Breitner House offers more than just a bigger room...). This was easily the most memorable hotel experience of my life. Highly recommend!
- Sara (10/5): A place to marvel at and celebrate your breakfast - Interesting and fun decor. Chatty and attentive owner.
- Elizabeth (10/5): delightful and unforgettable - It is a magical place. Coming straight off a wide street bustling with trams and bicycles you enter a different world - full of rich colour, swags of damask, urns overflowing with flowers and extravagant chandeliers. Over the road is the park; the bedrooms look into a courtyard garden with a bright red camelia in exuberant flower. It’s miraculously quiet and peaceful and beautiful - which makes it restorative to the spirit. Camilla is a wonderful host, attentive and generous and full of thoughtful ideas. The breakfast table was spectacular to look at and everything was delicious. We had an unforgettable time.
- Shannon (10/5): Exceptional -
- Shalagh (9/5): Magical. - I stayed with my partner for a few days in November 2023. What a magical time we had! We stayed in the upstairs suite as the garden room as booked out. The bed was heavenly and the bathroom lovely. Amazingly spacious and comfortable. We were greeted by the lovely Camilla who serves the most amazing magical breakfasts complete with champagne. She really tried to cater to our needs and was receptive to our requests. A really special place and a delightful hostess. This is a historical old house and so there are steep stairs when you enter so be aware of this if you are disabled etc. Also it is not as central as other places we have stayed in but was magical nonetheless and walking distance so it hardly mattered. The tram also stops right outside if you don't want to walk!
- Bobbette (10/5): amazingly awesome! - the Breitner House was amazing, with a rich history and beautifully decorated in a Victorian manner. it was full of paintings and vintage furniture and Art Deco pieces. the house comprised of two entrances that led to various parts of the house via stairs. I loved it. the bathroom sinks, but oh well, I got over it.
- Jacques (10/5): Dive into an experience of theatrical proportions. - Camilla is a gracious hostess with a gift for spoiling her guests. Breitner house is a sensory adventure of exploration as one is transported into an era of opulence and luxury.
- Khalifa (10/5): - Good
- Verified traveler (10/5): Breitner House - An excellent experience! - It was an excellent stay! The service was outstanding, and very personal. The building, decor, and views were memorable. It all combined to make our stay in Amsterdam unforgettable. The breakfasts were delicious and customized. The owner of Breitner House goes out of her way to make guests feel welcome and very well taken care of. She is an ambassador for Amsterdam.
- Thomas (10/5): Wonderful Stay - Beautiful property. Camilla was fantastic!!
- gabriel (10/5): - an 1870 house with only 2 amazing suites large comfortable and impeccable service. it can not get better than that.a unique experience. Camilla the host and owner was perfect. witty , polite , always with a good word , an amazing personality . breakfast as we never have had and we have traveled a lot ! The suites intrigue you with the history they are carrying.
- Nekoda (10/5): Our favorite places we have EVER stayed - in love - Camilla is amazing. Breitner House is amazing. We've literally NEVER stayed somewhere we loved more. The soul of the house is warm and artistic. The breakfast was somewhere between a dream and a Dutch still life painting. If you're thinking of booking, book now, and add extra days. We never wanted to leave!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - 5/5/2020
My wife and I stayed here for our honeymoon and cannot overstate what an unbelievably wonderful experience we had. From the moment we met Camilla we knew we were in for a stay unlike any other and she did not disappoint. Camilla was so warm, friendly and entirely selfless throughout our stay, always armed with directions, a thoughtful recommendation or simply a kind word. Accommodations left us speechless in both their originality and cleanliness. When we eventually plan our return to Amsterdam, if we cannot stay at The Breitner House we may reconsider/reschedule the trip, it was that fantastic. If we somehow go anyway, you can bet we will at least stop by to say, "Hello!" and "How we've missed you!". A beyond Five Star location.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The Breitner suite was very spacious and homey. The included breakfasts were very beautifully presented and the quality and quantity of food far exceeded our expectations. We enjoyed visiting with the owner every day as she is very friendly and helpful. The house was close to a tram station which made getting around very easy.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Old world charm and hospitality - From the moment of our arrival to our departure we were showered with endless hospitality, exceptional food and comfort in beautiful surroundings. Camilla is a lovely host who goes out of her way to see to every need of her guests. We will most definitely return to Breitner House in the future.
- Amy (10/5): - This is a very special place with host that make your stay truly unique! A personal touch which brings an enhanced ambiance and character to this already very charming place.
- Carlos (10/5): - Perfect. Small. Exclusive. Romantic. Elegant. Camille is lovely. This is not a hotel, this is an old house with two incredibly lovely suites and the best breakfast you’ll ever have.
- HANI (10/5): Unforgettable amazing - Amazing experience, beautiful atmosphere
- Katherine (10/5): The BEST!! - Staying here was one f the best experiences of being in Amsterdam. The house and suites are absolutely stunning. The bed was hands down the most comfortable bed I’ve ever slept in in my entire life. The breakfast can’t be beat. Every aspect of the stay is planned to make you feel completely pampered. Great history behind the house. If you stay here you’ll actually want to carve out time to stay in and enjoy your room. Don’t miss it!!
- G (10/5): Treated like royalty - A highlight of our Amsterdam visit was simply staying at The Breitner House. Great location. Easy access to tram, park, and restaurants. Don’t miss breakfast for any reason! Hostess with the mostest.

- Fran+Chris (10/5): Flawless - From the moment we arrived, to the moment we left - What an experience!
Warm and welcoming atmosphere, beautifully decorated, stunning service, clean and cosy.
Every aspect was a delight.
Flawless.
- Susie (10/5): A beautiful home with heart and soul! - As previous reviews have suggested, Breiner House is truly an experience. It's the most beautiful home and Camilla's warmth is truly unique. We felt completely relaxed, everything we needed was already available and it was made perfectly clear that nothing at all would be too much trouble. Everyone has already mentioned the decor and breakfast (like nothing we have experienced before), which included a quick impromptu play of the lovely old grand piano from myself! We sat and chatted and ate and drank for over 2 hours. When we return to Amsterdam we would never even think about staying anywhere else. Sometimes you just fall upon somewhere that really touches you and Breitner House, with it's history and the stories from Camilla were just that. I know I will always remember our stay there and we have stayed in many luxury hotels around the world. Thank you Camilla, you are a beautiful lady in every sense of the word.
- Dana (10/5): - This is one of the most beautiful hotels I've ever stayed in. It is a visual feast with fresh flowers, antiques, art. The owner, Camilla, is a warm, welcoming host, who provides scrumptious breakfasts and plenty of good information and advice about Amsterdam.
- William (10/5): A luxurious Amsterdam experience - We had a truly wonderful stay. We were greeted by our host Camilla with a glass of champagne and a smile. We chose the first floor suite. It consisted of three luxuriously decorated rooms; A bedroom dining room and living room. Please see photos. The brunch is fit for royalty. A room full of flowers and several courses of food served until noon. Fruit, meats, cheeses,quiche,champagne... on and on... anything you want. The best part of the stay is the host Camilla. She has The best part of the stay is Camilla. Knowledge of cafes, sightseeing etc. We became friends over the stay. There is a beautiful park right in front of this prestigious townhome. There is a beautiful park right in front of this beautiful town We are eager to return. Many thanks to Camilla for an unforgettable stay!
- John & Beth (10/5): Absolutely Exquisite! - The Breitner House is a true taste of heaven. By far the best and most unique place we have ever stayed when traveling. The Breitner House is absolutely beautiful. Very neat and clean, comfortable, and quiet. It gives you the home away from home feel. We had a very peaceful rest while staying there. Camilla was absolutely amazing going above and beyond for our every need. The breakfast she served was exquisite. She made us feel like royalty. We will definitely stay at the Breitner House again. Camilla is a true friend and a gem.
- keith (10/5): Brietner House - Was a great stay. The owner made some great suggestions and we loved Amsterdam
- Robert (10/5): You will treasure this experience - Breitner House is an experience that will remain forever in your memory. From the moment you enter to the moment you leave you will feel you have been transported into another world. This is like staying in a palace with the senses taking in every beautiful part of the ambiance, antiques and spacious accommodations, all introduced to you by the wonderful Camilla, who is so happy to have you there. By the online description, I decided this would be the perfect special place to spend the last couple of nights of a hectic trip, and this was the best decision I could have made. We luxuriated in the surroundings of our rooms and the breakfasts were unlike any I have had in a hotel, in many wonderful unexpected ways. We are still talking about our time at Breitner House.
- Vanessa (10/5): An Oasis in Amsterdam - Breitner House is a real oasis situated to the south of the city centre. It is well connected by local nearby trams and overlooks the beautiful Oosterpark.
The whole house is flamboyantly, yet tastefully decorated. The suites are quiet, secluded, spacious and well equipped. The beds are super comfortable and you are guaranteed a good night’s sleep!
Camilla, your host, relishes in your enjoyment in staying in her beautiful house with all it has to offer. She pays exquisite attention to detail and her breakfasts are to die for!
Staying in Breitner House with Camilla definitely enhances your overall experience of staying in Amsterdam. It is definitely an under estimated jewel!
I would definitely recommend staying at Breitner House, especially if you are celebrating a special birthday/ anniversary, or just want to treat yourselves.
I am already trying to find an excuse to return...........................
- LW (10/5): Breitner house - I can't say enough wonderful things about Camilla and Breitner house. Romantic, peaceful. Best bed I have ever slept in The pictures are nice but don't do it justice. It truly is that beautiful Camilla has paid attention to every little detail. And the breakfast she makes is for a king! Love her and her house.
- Aaron (10/5): Perfection in Amsterdam! - We've stayed in wonderful hotels all over the world - ranging from massive corporate hotels to smaller boutique affairs. The Breitner House now takes its place among our favorite hotel experiences in the world.
Since the Breitner House only has to rooms and is located in a grand house next to a part, we didn't really know what to expect, but the reviews were terrific, so we decided to try something different.
When we arrived, we were met by the owner at the door, and within minutes we knew we had picked the right place. She is one of the most charming people that you will ever meet, and if felt very much like we were arriving to stay with an old friend.
The house itself is amazing, and our room - the George Breitner Suite - looks exactly as the pictures portray it. Two huge beautiful rooms with beautiful furniture and art, and a very large bathroom. The dining area is also beautiful and my partner greatly enjoyed getting to play the antique piano in the adjacent room.
The biggest surprise came when we had breakfast the next morning. Since there were only 4 people staying the hotel, I suppose we expected a small buffet and perhaps an omelet or something. Instead we were surprised with a lavish spread with so many courses and options that we lost count - all of it fantastic and presented with love and attention that made you feel as if you had woken up in a palace.
I think anyone would LOVE staying at this hotel!!
- Verified traveler (10/5): Nice place and kind people - The host Camilla is a very kind and lovely person, and made our stay unexpectedly warmth and fruitful.
- Tom (10/5): Breitner House & Host Make Amsterdam Extra Special - After decades of trying to make it to this must visit European city, I decided to celebrate my 50th birthday with a visit. Of course, with a destination like Amsterdam and the celebration of my 50th, the expectations were high. Amsterdam and the historic Breitner House and its wonderful host delivered, big time.
After landing in Amsterdam and making our way through the city to a charming little street across from a picturesque park, with enough goings on to keep one busy, but out of the way from the tourist area, I knew we were in for a treat. Camilla, the owner of the property, who takes the kind of care to make your stay more than perfect, welcomed us as if we were friends, long overdue for a visit.
Each morning, we were greeted by Camilla with her infectious smile and zeal, as well as her extravagant breakfast which primed us for the day ahead, and certainly made you feel a little spoiled. Camilla knew everything about the city, where to go, what to do and when, why, and was able to share those special little details, which made each day out and about just perfect.
- Eric (10/5): Amazing boutique B&B and the best stay in Europe! - My wife and I have been remiss in submitting a review for the Breitner House as we stayed at Guido and Camilla's lovely property almost a year ago. We've just rebooked another long weekend at the Breitner and thought we'd share some view of this unique B&B (the closest characterization albeit B&B doesn't do it justice). First, Guido and Camilla couldn't be more friendly, attentive or courteous. Their hospitality is second to none and they went completely out of their way to make our stay as special as possible. As has been noted before, the breakfast meal that Guido and Camilla prepare is fit for a king, replete with several courses of some of the highest quality breakfast offerings that we've ever had. Moreover, learning of our interest in seeing some of the Amsterdam countryside, Guido went out of his way to take my wife an I on a personal tour of a few of the villages outside of Amstersdam city, driving us through wonderful bucolic towns along the way. Finally the accommodations. We stayed in the George Breitner suite, which was just amazing as it was designed as an artists loft for George and his pupils/followers. It has fantastic high ceilings, wonderful light and great views of the neighboring park. It's also appointed with a mix of antiques and a monumental mural that Camilla painted. The room is as spacious as any you'll find and really nothing like I've ever seen. Really an A+ grease experience.
- Michèle (10/5): A most wonderful, beautiful & relaxing experience. - As most of the previous reviews, my husband and I had the most fantastic time. Guido and Camila the hotel owners are genuinely kind, cultured, fun people. They went of their way to ensure we had everything we could possibly need and more. Guido even drove us around the city on our first day, which really helped us get a good feeling for Amsterdam, such a cool city! Beautiful Camila recommended us two great restaurants.
The hotel is sumptuous, tasteful yet comfortable. There's so much beautiful art to look at. The breakfast is an event in itself! Gorgeous food, lovely music and the wonderful company of Guido and Camila.
Our room was a delight, with french doors opening onto a heavenly garden. Comfortable bed with crisp linen.
All in all we loved every minute!!
- Chris (10/5): Every possible comfort - The previous reviews exaggerate nothing - this is a beautiful place with kind , caring hosts who do all they can to look after you . We enjoyed our conversations with Guido and Camilla and we knew exactly how to negotiate directions and public transport from their assistance .
The suite is spacious and comfortable with a feeling of peace.
We enjoyed the welcoming drink and the champagne in our room - we felt very special
- Hanmeng (10/5): The best place in the whole world - I have travelled a lot around the world, and the Breitner House is the best place I have ever been.Everything is perfect in this house: the room, the decoration, the breakfast, and the people. Camilla and Guido are the nicest couple you could ever imagine. They took care of us like a family. Since the terrible accident happened in Belgium, suddenly we had to change our schedule. They let us stay in their place generously, and comforted us with their optimistic spirit. We have stayed here for 6 days, and I loved it more and more each day. For me, it is not only a hotel, but a home. The Breitner House has became the best part of Amsterdam in my memory. Can't wait to go back to Amsterdam.
- Glen (10/5): One Incredibly Happy Breitner Guest! - Having stayed in many 5* hotels whilst traveling for business or pleasure yet this time I decided to go for something with a lot more culture and true Holland history. The Breitner house hit the nail on the head!
I was welcomed immediately by the wonderful Camilla who owns the property with her incredibly polite husband Guido. Excellent service which topped most of the 4/5*'s I've stayed in and it had a much more personal feel to the place. It felt like home from home to be honest.
The suite I stayed in (the Breitner Suite) was incredibly comfy, spacious and clean plus the wifi was strong throughout the house too allowing me to do business with ease whilst staying there for three nights.
Will certainly return, perhaps in the summer when they have hopefully completed the staircase up to the open air terrace!
Thanks again Camilla and Guido (hope I'm spelling that right) and will catch you guys soon, definitely with the wife next time :-)
- Marios (10/5): Luxury Hotel with lots of Character - A unique fairytale experience with the utmost in luxury and hospitality from the owners of the hotel. I was celebrating a 10 year anniversary with my partner, she was blown away and certainly made our time in Amsterdam really special.
The room décor is relaxing, enjoy a glass of wine next to the fireplace in your suite living room.
The breakfast experience is out of this world, I wont detail, don't want to spoil the surprise.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Most unique - One of the more unique experiences I have had... Camilla and Guido are so welcoming of you into their world... the house has so much history, and the suites are incredibly spacious and gorgeously appointed. It was truly a one of a kind experience.
- Fay (10/5): Truly a great experience! - Felt like home, room was above average size, clean, excellent breakfast everyday there was something different, best Dutch Pancakes ever!
The couple who own the place, were so helpful and friendly, they took us for a quick tour of the city, when we first arrived and gave great tips on what to do in beautiful Amsterdam!
I would defensively stay there again!
- Happy Traveller (10/5): Absolutely amazing! - We stayed for a surprise birthday treat, and what a treat it was! Breitner House is absolutely amazing, and its wonderful owners are amazing too. It truly is an exceptional experience. The breakfasts are above and beyond expectation and the warmth and care from our hosts made our trip unforgettable. If you are considering a booking at Breitner House, don't hesitate, do it now! The surroundings are so sumptuous and luxurious that you won't want to go out. There was only one problem with Breitner House, we didn't want to leave!
- Kathleen (10/5): Treated like royalty! - We were treated like royalty at the Breitner House for our 3 day stay in Amsterdam. The house, built in the 1800's was like a museum of artwork and antiques all customized by the owners, Guido and Camilla. Our breakfast in the mornings, prepared by Guido, was presented as if we were dining in a palace, each item more delicious than the next. Every dish was made to look like a piece of art. Our exceptional hosts, Guido and Camilla were more generous and gracious than anyone you could possibly imagine! It was beyond amazing!!
If you want the experience of a lifetime, book a stay at the Breitner House.
- David&Lorraine (10/5): A unique experience - If you want a unique and exceptional stay in Amsterdam then the Breitner House is the place to stay. Camilla and Guido are wonderful hosts who make you so welcome and help you make the most of your trip. You are made to feel very special and nothing is too much trouble. Thank you for making our visit so memorable!
- Golnar (8/5): Very nice place - Breitner house is a charming place. The host & the hostess are very helpful. The breakfast meal is splendid. The place is in nice location and accessible by public transportation. I do not recommend it for older people since the place has steep stairways. The bathroom is in another level which is inconvenient and the suite doesn't have a bath tub. The king size bed is actually 2 attached single beds which is not practical for couples. The place has a historical atmosphere with an overall comfort of 4 stars.
- J & K (10/5): Top Drawer Breitner House full 5 star - Guido and Camilla, owners of this beautiful small hotel present a first rate living experience in Amsterdam. The townhouse is filled with art and antiques and history. Chambers were elegant, spacious and totally equipped with every delicacy and wine and comfort. Brunch was the finest we have had in any hotel or restaurant in the world, and we have traveled a great deal.
The owners who are beyond charming make sure you are comfortable, shown the city by car, given help for any excursions, picked up and dropped off... whatever to make your stay in both Amsterdam and their hotel exquisite.
