- Ella (6/5): - The room was completedly clean at my arrival & I mean it. The space in it was enough to move freely inside it. The lights, the water and air conditioner did work perfectly. My stay was short and still effective. Thanks a lot.
- Stephen (10/5): - Nice property to spend time with your family
- Stephen (10/5): - I would like stay here excellent service
- Reeza (6/5): - Every time I stay here there is usually 1 issue with the room. Once it was no internet service, another time no cable service. This time I had no AC for a few nights. Always there is a wait for clean bath towels. But I have come to expect these as this is a budget hotel. You get the value you pay for
- Francis (10/5): - Thanks
- Milton (6/5): - The was helpful, I don't speak Spanish and they very patient.
- Juan (10/5): - Very good
- Luis (6/5): - The air conditioning was not working properly
Danke
- Franklin (10/5): - The place is nice and clean
- ROMARIO (4/5): - The staff could be more lenient towards the guest staff especially at the front desk and they had a waiter before he was very hostile like until they changed him after that the new waiter was understanding and very lenient and pleasant
- Karlene (2/5): - I wasnt denied entry in the country
And i didn't get a refund
- PATRICK (4/5): - Poor
- jeidy (8/5): Good price - For the price itâs a good place to stay with family and friends.
- timofej (2/5): Gave away my room to somebody else - Upon the arrival (at 6 pm) I was told that the hotel was full. It didn't matter that I had a prepaid reservation. No assistance with finding an alternative place to stay nor helping with transportation. They didn't care at all that they made a mistake.
- Alesha (10/5): - Love
- John (10/5): - Everything was fine at this hotel especially for the price.
- Edward (8/5): - Muy buena y buen punto estratégicos para la.zona colonial
- Paola (4/5): - Felt like I was staying at a cheap motel, it smelled bad and the night assistant did not give me the room I payed for. Bad service and unprofessional. But for good price and in desperation is reliable
- Hermenegilda (4/5): - I didnât like the same breakfast every day and the service, sometimes I had to wait for clean towels. But I like the way they clean every day. The room was always clean!!!
- Mildred (8/5): - The staff was amazing and very attentive and helpful. The hotel is old but I would return because of the staff!!!
- Dennis (6/5): - Be aware that this place does not accept credit cards so make sure you bring enough cash if you still decide to book at this hotel. The location is a bit sketchy especially at night. You can skip the breakfast because it is a joke. A small piece of sandwich with a little scrambled egg and 2 very small cups of water and juice. But the worst part is the horrible elderly man who serves the food, very unfriendly and mean. Will I stay here again if I come back? Probably not.
- Julia (10/5): - Improve the service and nice staff. Economic, convince location.
- Felix (10/5): - I gave them 5 starts, not because it's the best hotel or because it's a 5 start hotel. But for the price I paid this was worth it we only stayed for 10 hours to sleep over night in the city. But the place is close to a lot of places and you get what you pay. If you are looking for luxury don't come here. If you're looking for comfort either but for an economy option to stay over night was perfect.
- SHAMIRA Angelica (10/5): - The staff is super friendly and helpful. It is noisy due to its location however you will be at walking distance from beautiful tourists areas.
- Reeza (6/5): - Value for money accommodations. You get what you pay for.
- Hipekar (8/5): - Need update on repair
- FabiĂĄn (2/5): - Al llegar al hotel, nos enviaron a otro hotel porque no tenĂan habitaciones, y las habitaciones de esta nuevo hotel no cumplĂan los requerimientos pagados y no tenĂan toallas
- Zaida (4/5): - Noisy from inside and outside. Bathroom, mirrors dirty.
- Nurgazy (2/5): - Receptionist is a thief, he was trying to make money, he didnt want to give 2 room with two bed in a room as it was booked on expedia, and using different currency asked more than 46$ saying that this is political rules of hotel. Then they said that there is no free rooms, but i booked by expedia not on property. HOTEL LUIS V - IS MOST BAD AND DIRTY PLACE WITH THIEF ON RECEPTION.
- James (2/5): - They gave me another room they donât gave me the room I paid for
- Rafael (2/5): - Servicio
- Elder (6/5): - The property has changed ownership (for the better) however, it is in need of repairs. Ex - outlet in room broken. The receptionist could not speak a lick of English. A guest was frustrated and I ended up having ti translate for her. I found a place that is less expensive and much better called RIG Hotels close to Malecon that provided better service, a friendlier staff and amazing breakfast.
- Michael (4/5): This Is A Cheap One - The hotel was not as described online. The tv didn't work, no daily housekeeping, I don't know why they list a restaurant on site as you had to find someone who worked there (menu was hamburguesas, sandwich, platos rapidos and bebidas), there was a light out above the sink and the front only took cash and no debit/credit card. That's not was advertised online.
- marianela (8/5): - Good
- Ricardo (6/5): - The room had a strong Oder of ceigratte upon arrival the sheets had iron mold stained on them the toilet wasnât cleaned properly.
The mirror was never cleaned
The jacuzzi never worked
Roach in room
Had to ask for Bath towels
- Kenel (6/5): - No Wi-Fi
- Julia (8/5): - Some of the staff are very friendly.
- Julia (2/5): - I had a reservation for a doble b (x 2)room and I only have one Beth not 2 and I been asked for the. Staff for over the counter (more money) extra $ in order to honor my reservations .
- Fritz Diesel (6/5): - Well it's convenient to stores and highway
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Lo recomiendo
- Verified traveler (10/5): - El. Servicios
- Verified traveler (6/5): My suggestion for my staying on HOTEL LUIS V - My staying was 55% satisfied. The staff members are good people and very understandable.I think they need to work on the menu for breakfast cause the quality is so poor.Always out of what the menu said. They don't have hot water what so ever, they need to buy and give more towels.Their bar is so expensive,125-150 pesos for beer. The majority of the staff speak Spanish only.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - I like the location . Close to the center of the city, stores, restaurant. Malls.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Yea good
Great staff and shopping area. The need a pool and stafff need to know English
- Verified traveler (4/5): - The hot water by 2 days on repair inaceptablle,(no hot by 2 days).
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The price is very good for what you get. The hotel is very close to La Zona Colonial which is one of the most beautiful places in the city.. The T.V. in the room never turn on and I never found the remote controller for it. I never asked for ti either. I think they will improve their service as I saw them making some innovation. Over all my experience was positive during my stay. I will stay in this hotel on my next visit.
- Jessica (2/5): - This was the worst experience at a hotel ever. Nothing like the pictures shown here. I was given a key and instructions on how to get to the room. The stairs were narrow, i felt unsafe since it wasnt an open corridor, it is difficult to explain but it was really creepy. The room, OMG the room. It was really small! Everything smelled. Bathroom smelled, all the furniture was like really together since the room was very small, very outdated. On top of it there was a lot of noise including some dogs barking outside. The girl in the front desk tried way too much to be nice and ended up making some jokes totally out of place. I didnt stay there, i went out looking for other hotels that same day. I didnt spend not even an hour there. As I was heading out the girl in the front desk told me I had to give her my room key. I asked why and she implied its a hotel policy since a lot of people lose it. I felt violated and unsafe. I checked out and went to another hotel which I loved. Hostal San Francisco de Asis. Please do yourself a favor and do not stay at this hotel. It is a joke!
- Stanley (8/5): - Good and simple hotel. My days was very cool. I recommend this hotel for people traveling to DR.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Very limited menu at the restaurant. Room bathroom is too small. discomfort Mattress. Staff are very gentle.
- Ray (2/5): - 1- it says staff is multi-linguistic... in fact they only speak spanish and do not understand english.
2- it says wi-fi available.. but we had very bad connection.. took forever for a page to load...
3- horrible rooms cleanliness... smells bad.. hair all over the floor.. molds on the walls...
Disappointing...
- mirow423 (2/5): Very bad! - It is very near to Zona Colonial. workers are nice and kind! However, Iâm really shocked! Bed bugs, no hot water in shower, towels are not clean, very poor quality. This is the first and last time in Santo Domingo. If you are on a trip for a couple of days and just need a bed and a toilet, it is ok.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - I enjoy everything
- Verified traveler (6/5): Good hotel and good ubication - The hotel is good for the price, for sure there are some areas to be improved but overall I had a good stay. Thanks to everyone who contributes.
- Lasford (6/5): Nice place close to the independance plaza - I enjoyed every bit of my stay. The hotel staf is very nice and open. I will recomend this hotel to other people.
- maria (10/5): Love it - I love the stuff from the restaurant they are so nice those ladies are so awesome đđđ
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Good
- Amanda (8/5): Nice place for cheap - It was a nice place with good service. The people was very nice
- Guss (8/5): Hotel Luis V - The hotel is conveniently located in Downtown Santo Domingo, two blocks away from the presidential palace, and 10 minutes walk from major shops. The hotel is safe. The staff is very customer oriented and courteous. The rooms are cleaned and very comfortable. The breakfast menu offers many choices, served a la carte. Lunch and dinner offer great food at affordable prices.
- Ray (6/5): Did not sleep well - Very nice staff that quickly tend to your needs. Be prepared to go to sleep after 2:00 AM almost daily. The hotel is small the walls are not sound proof. There is a bar on the second floor and the music is so loud that it can be heard as if you were in the bar. Perfect place if you are a partygoer.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - It was clean and staff was respectful l.. don't really have much to say but I will recommend it to others.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Room cleanliness has a lot to be desired. No soap supplied for a few days, towels are washed but dried on the roof, they maybe a little wet. Don't look under the bed.
- randolph (2/5): worst ever - it was the worst, my car side mirrors and covers were stolen, their was a monster Roach in the Hallway, staff was terrible, but housekeeping was great
- Scam (2/5): Scam
Hotel was nothing like pics on website - The minute I saw the hotel and my room
I took the loss
Because hotel was already payed
And left to a different hotel
Which was nice
- Jeremiah (10/5): The staff is awesome - I stayed in D.R for a month 4 different hotels and I must say this is the best. Location is directly near el Conde tourist attraction. Staff is bi lingual caring always checking up on you.clean rooms, comfortable beds ,a.c ,hot water.
- Jeremiah (10/5): 5 star - I was skeptical about this hotel from the reviews but for the price it's 5 star service. Rooms are nice a.c, flat screen t.v , good breakfast and dinner . Great place good peolple
- Luis (8/5): Nice hotel for the price I paid for - The hotel was okay for the price I paid for the room and the stafff were helpful. It has a safe inside the room for $1.00 per day cost, which I kept my valuables secure.
- gene (6/5): It was just ok - You really get what you pay for!! It was a cheap place with nice people with a convenient location... they really need to improve..
- World Traveler (2/5): Very Disappointing - Overall, the worst hotel experience I have had. The hotel did not have my reservation on hand, and I was asked by four people on three separate occasions to provide proof of my reservation. There is absolutely no wifi or internet connection at all, and there was no effort made to provide it over the course of two days that I was there. Shower stall could use a good cleaning. There's a very small TV with a remote that doesn't work. Front door is locked after midnight, and hotel is reluctant to allow guests who are late-night party-goers or midnight snackers to go out. I did not see any other guests during my stay, so I think that says it all. I definitely will not be back.
- Verified traveler (2/5): I will never tell any one to stay there - It smells the picture they are showing you is not what you seeing when you reach at the hotel. I did not even checking
- Alex (8/5): Friendly people
- My stay at the hotel was enjoyable. The staff was very helpful and accommodating. As with all things there is room for improvements. Most of it is cosmetic. Better lighting in the room, updated cabinets, bigger shower space. But you get what you paid for. If you are looking for a stay that resembles how the locals lives, which is key, than this is the place. You get complementary breakfast every day of your stay cooked your way and dinner is cooked your way for a very reasonable price compared to eating outside. There is no better food than home cooked food and the cooks bring that out everyday. I loved the food. No doubt about it. But to me, it's about the service of the staff. And the staff nailed it!!! Latin people are very friendly and willing to help, and that was what I saw in their work effort.
- Louidji (10/5): Location is great trough the tourist centers - It was so excited, The staff were so polite and understood. best place to stay, low price great service.
- CF (6/5): Simple accomodation near the historical center - This premise is near the historical center (about 15 mins walking), it is a simple hotel with a kind staff, a clean room, modest furniture, basic breakfast and a very reasonable price. The wifi connection in my floor failed 2 days before my departure, there is hot water but you have to wait for it 5-10 mins, the bed was comfortable enough.
As always, you get what you pay and in my opinion this hotel provides a fair cost-benefit ratio
- Verified traveler (6/5): - great stuff members convenient located from every where
- Melly (10/5): Very Family Oriented - I traveled to the Dominican Republic to get some plastic surgery. I picked this hotel cause it was close to my doctors office. I'm glad I did all the employees were friendly and treated me and my mom like family. The things I liked the most about our room was the shower and ofcourse the AC. Lol I also picked this hotel cause I wasn't looking to stay at a resort or a 5 star place and not be able to enjoy it since I was gonna spend most of the time in my bed. They offer free breakfast which was great. They also offered lunch and dinner at a good price. The have a full bar, a balcony area to sit back and relax on the second floor. The restaurant which was really a kitchen on the last floor had outside seating which was nice. They have 3 jacuzzies and a lot of sun tanning area. Overall this place is good if your in the country on business or looking for a more quite relaxing place to stay.
- gisellemarchena (2/5): A honest Review - I have stayed at this hotel a couple times. Our first visit was amazing. We received an excellent service but after that time nothing was the same.
My husband and I spent a few days in DR. We stayed at this hotel and I swear this is the last time. I have a long list of complaints:
They gave us the nastiest room with a rusted sink that also was missing the cabinets door, the sheets were stained, the shower didn't have a door (so you can imagine the mess after taking a shower), no toilet paper, the shower wasn't working at one time, terrible odor coming out from the toilet, no hot water, only 1 light worked out of 3, no face nor hands towel.
You can't sleep due to either the dogs barking, the vehicles beeping their horn or the cleaning ladies talking very loud in the hallway and slamming the doors at 7am.
The menu prices aren't updated so be ready to be charged close to three times the price in the menu. The food is ridiculously expensive.
The employees aren't trained appropriately. You can feel the disconfort from the employees. They try their best but they need training.
There was only 1 employee that was very helpful i though he was the manager, too bad he wasn't.
If they don't change the management I give them 2 more years in business.
- Luis (6/5): - It was ok. But it needs a better administration.
- yancarl0sm (2/5): SO BAD - This place was bad, it could improve so much. The breakfast was made by one lady one order at the time... Literally one at the time. She would ale you order until she finish one. If their was 3 other guests I front be ready to wait 45+ minutes. The water in the shower gave my fiancé a rash which she had to buy medicine for. The tiny FD workers never knew anything and could never help with anything, not even exchanging a few dollars. The AC didn't work in our first room, I ended up helping one working replace 2 beds + frames from 2 different room in order to have a alright bed and alright AC. But than the lights kept going on and off for hours. We wanted to do a early checkout, a few days early and they couldn't even do that because they had no power. My fiancé and I left the place and let them keep the days we'd had pay for. Horrible experience.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Good overall stay - We were there 7 days, staffs was friendly and helpful. Breakfast is great cook to order eggs(fresh). Close to shopping area and food. The hotel is in an okay area, we feel comfortable walking in evening and daytime. Hotel was very clean in the room. Not my choice of decorating on the second or third floors but they keep everything clean. Close to taxi(very inexpensive). Bring your own shampoo and conditioning. They only provide soap. They have hot shower, but did not needed, 92-94F while we were there. Air conditioning in room work great all day and night
- karen (8/5): clean hotel located near presidential palace - the room was clean though a little musty..nothing that cant be solved with some lysol. There was 24 hour receptionist ,all of which spoke english. The cleaning staff was pleasant and courteous though they didno t speak any English. This hotel is a three minute walk from the Presidential Palace . Pizza hut delivers here . Overall the stay was pleasant and i felt safe.
- John (6/5): Very interesting adventure. - The building itself is quite interesting with the themed paintings and decor. Much possibility at this location. Most of the staff seemed to understand that catering to the needs and desires of customers is their sole reason for working here. A few staff seemed to be very confused about some requests though. For example, showering 5 times each day seems to be the norm here. Yet the staff could not imagine why I wanted more than two towels in our room... for 2 adults and a baby. Nobody wants to dry off with a wet towel. I never did get a third towel. Also meals were served at certain times... however they seemed confused every time I asked for the cook to actually come to the restaurant to cook something. Many trips downstairs looking to get the cook to appear... during meal times. Air conditioning did not work one night so entire family slept horribly. Desk clerk seemed oblivious to why I wanted it fixed immediately, or switch to another room. This was after a horrible night trying to sleep without air. And finally, there is a parking area next door, with car alarms going off nearly constantly. For some reason, sounded like the windows were wide open to this noise, though they were closed tightly. Installation of dual glazed windows would help minimize this racket!
Seems like many complaints, but want you to be aware of what will happen until they train and organize certain staff better.
- RCS (8/5): Close to Everything - For the low price, our stay was very good. This small hotel is close to a lot of interesting and historic places (walkable distance) that you will enjoy, like the Zona Colonial (Old Town) and the Mexico Street, among others. Behind the hotel street is a poor neighborhood, but that didn't affect our stay at all. The choices to eat in the restaurant were very limited (2 or 3 dishes available) and the breakfast was just one dish every day of our stay: eggs and bread; because of this we ordered pizza one of the nights. Also, you can walk (Be careful and aware at night) for 5 to 10 minute to "El conde" in the Old town, where you will find several restaurants and other choices to eat. The recreational area located on the roof of the building, including the Jacuzzi, was out of service for most of our stay. Overall, our stay was a good one.
