- Owal (6/5): - Friendly staff and long term guests, arrived with a group tour and the property was oversubscribed meaning I didn't get to stay in the original room I booked but instead a big dorm room to myself.

- James (10/5): - Liked: 1) Staff were very friendly and accomdating providing us with a fan to keep cool during the night. 2) exterior design- hamicks and tents and paintings were really cool. 3) Easy to navigate the backpackers. 4) kitchen facilities were sufficient having good space kitchen and cleanliness of the chairs. No dislikes at all.
- Bjoern (8/5): - Hatten die Suite ohne Küche, diese war wegen vieler Kiwi-Reisender überfüllt und haben unseren Kocher für Spagetti aus dem Wagen geholt. Die Suite selbst hat muffig gerochen. Für eine Nacht OK, mussten aber die Betten abziehen.

- Laura (8/5): - Rooms are nice and clean, as well as bathroom. Hostel is a walkable distance to beach. Nice outside area to sit. Kitchen is a bit small and hobs were not working properly.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Quaint. Was very quiet because of the lack of overseas tourists due to Covid. Room was clean and spacious. On-site amenities were great. Staff very friendly. Had a slight glitch where I ended up getting charged twice - once by Expedia and again on arrival. Once I realised this and brought it to their attention), they refunded me very promptly without question.
- Tom (10/5): Great relaxed backpackers - Stayed for a few nights around an event out of Westport. Great outdoors areas with a massive courtyard with plenty of tables and hammocks. Really chill vube and just nice and relaxing. Had a private room, everything was nice and clean, about what you'd expect comfort wise from your average backpackers. Would recommend as a good base for a west coast stay.
- Alexander (8/5): Surfer-dude experience - Decent place for one night or if you’re Surfing... Glad to see a place that stays away from plastic bags. Room was spacious, great essentials in the kitchen. Convenient walk to Main Street. Mattress was pretty old, so my husband and I kept rolling into the middle. Pillows weren’t comfy either. Shower pressure was great at night, but when everyone was showering in the morning at 8am, it was awful. The privacy was lacking as our room was on the way to some shared rooms and as people walked by, everyone kept peeking in. Some even opened the curtain to look in.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Awesome friendly and helpful staff. Great layout and facilities. Super clean and tidy. You can hear everything but they are good at the curfew of 10pm. Beds were not super comfy but you get that on the big jobs sometimes. Showers were amazing!! Definitely recommend.

- Felicia (10/5): Bazil's - Studio, Ensuite (Queen & Two Bunks) - The staff were efficient and friendly - checked us in very quickly and we managed to put our stuff in our room and left for the supermarket within 5 minutes of our arrival. The premises was clean and pleasant. The common areas such as the large table in the kitchen and the fireplace were great for hanging out to chat with people we met on the trip. The room was exactly as pictured, a little tired, but clean, well appointed and spacious. We had an enjoyable stay - I would definitely return and recommend Bazil's.

- Lisa (10/5): Amazing character - What an amazing hostel! Comfortable room, great wifi, everything was clean, but what I especially loved what the overall character of the place. There is a big inner courtyard with plenty of seating and hammocks for guests to hang out. The entire place is painted with bright cheery colors. Owner was super friendly. Wish I could have stayed a few more days.

- Frank (8/5): Westbort Hostel - Nice and friendly hostel. Was a bit concerned about noice as there were many young people living there but after 9 pm it was very silent. For us a bit elderly people it was very nice with all this young surfers living there. Could stay there again.

They also had a good deal For dinner worked out with a place down the street. The rooms are what you’d expect, but very clean and warm. And the staff was very helpful and friendly.

- jase (10/5): the best 'set-up' backpackers I've stayed in. - Bazil's is an awesome stay if ya checkin out westport & the west coast. The place is fully set-up & gives the stayer plenty of options. If your after a cruisy, fun place to stay this is it. From the many out door adventures, surfing & mountain bike trips to the stone/oven pizza & movie nights, it's all about a good time. The place also features some great art.

- Luke (8/5): Backpacker style hotel - One night stay as part of work trip. Basil's is backpacker/ budget conscious style accomodation with friendly staff and a fun, youthfil atmosphere. Room was warm and tidy and very reasonably priced. Would stay again.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - It is a surf school where people camp everywhere around. Also directly in front of my window. And the curtain was in a very bad condition. Good bye privacy. Also because a lot of young people stay there, it was very loud in the evening. Doors were hitten very loud and no one of the employees felt responsible to stop this. Not recommended.

- AG (6/5): Good for Short Stay - We had one of the private rooms in this Hostel, but had to use the shared community bathrooms. Room was kind of musty but sanitary and comfortable enough. Remarkably quiet at night. Makes one realize how far we have evolved since college days. One night was enough, but good value and they offer some good deals for surf lessons and equipment rentals.
