Guest Reviews
- Anthony (9/5): Very enjoyable - Peaceful Some maitanance issues
- Josena (9/5): Lovely place to stay in the park. - The room was very comfortable and the property is inside the park with lots of birds to see Very few dining options
- Virginia (10/5): -
- Lucas (10/5): Nirvana at Nitmiluk - The room, the bed and the amenities are 5 star. It's a short 800 metre walk to the Kimberley gorge lookout. The breakfast and the included afternoon canapes and drinks. The staff are super friendly and always there for what you need. The dinner cruise is a must Nothing we didn't like
- Hugh (10/5): If you want a peaceful luxury stay near a magnificent gorge, then Cicada Lodge is the place for you. - We had the most amazing hostess/staff member, Alexandra who was very attentive and accommodated our needs with ease and no fuss. She helped us with our luggage as we had quite a lot. All the staff were fabulous, attentive and very friendly. The accommodation was delightful, plenty of storage, a great sized bathroom, also with good storage.
The meals were also of a high standard. We were there for 3 nights, so we were able to have something different every night. There was also a short path from our room to the Nitmiluk cafe and information centre. We managed to use the guest laundry in the caravan park. Luckily for us it was very quiet with not many tourists. It was a little walk from the car to our room, but with Alexandra’s help, we managed to carry our luggage via the stairs and boardwalk.
- Pete (8/5): - The staff were exceptionally good The maintenance staff used a blower to clean the paths outside the rooms at 6:45am. BAD
- Gerad (10/5): 5 star luxury in a pristine national park! - The entire experience from welcome drinks to our check out was a pleasure. The staff were friendly. We had Jake and Alice looking after our every needs. It felt a privilege to experience the 5 star luxury in a pristine national park.
- Venessa (9/5): Beautiful Lodge. Restaurant for dining exceptional -
- Rebecca (10/5): Relaxing and beautiful stay just out of Katherine. - Rooms were fantastic. Restaurant was amazing. Incredible breakfast. Great location.
- Ben (10/5): A truly exceptional experience - Stunning location, outstanding staff, exceptional experience. Couldn’t stay longer
- Susan (9/5): Relaxing stay close to Katherine Gorge - Beautiful bush setting close to Katherine Gorge I liked everything about the property

- Davidq (9/5): A lovely boutique style accommodation - well recommended - We stayed here due to the proximity of the Katherine river, i.e. the "Nitmiluk (Katherine) Gorge Sunset Dinner Boat Tour", which was only a five-minute drive away.
The accommodation itself was probably the best in and around Katherine. It's a quaint little place, with a warm and welcoming feel. The facilities are limited (and small), but what it does provide, is done very well. For example, upon arrival we found out that we had three free drinks each and there would be free canapes available, as well as breakfast in the morning. Unfortunately, we had to skip all of these, as we had other plans, but the staff were very helpful and prepared a breakfast, which we could take with us early in the morning.
The room itself was lovely. It had a large open sleeping space, with a large separate bathroom. It had lovely views and was well stocked with snacks, magazines, toiletries, etc. I cannot find any negatives with this accommodation, apart from the price. It is a little pricey, but I am happy to pay for somewhere like this and have a little bit of luxury.
- Alistair (8/5): a quick trip to Katharine was made more memorable by staying at Cicada and having a great meal. - Friendly staff. Food was very good. The room was very basic.
- Lynne (10/5): Our two night stay at Cicada exceeded all expectations for a luxury getaway - exceptional, superb! - The breakfast, (like the evening meal we opted to stay in for) was exceptional. Beautifully presented, fresh and delicious. And great coffee! Couldn't fault it. Slightly annoying that the sliding glass door to the private balcony has a mechanism which automatically shuts off the air-conditioning which then has to be restarted, each time it is opened - with a bit of jiggling to and fro of the sliding door to restart. Agree that the intention is that aircon shouldn't be on when the door is open with guests lounging on the balcony but this was a little tricky al the same!

- Graham (10/5): - Comfy accommodation and a good restaurant onsite, they've set this up really well, especially considering the location.
- Amanda (10/5): Best place to stay at Katherine - The rooms are all prefabricated huts, but they are very stylish with good views out to the Nitmiluk park. The food is probably the best in the area and the free cocktail and canapés before dinner was an unexpected bonus They had had an insect problem in our first room but very swiftly changed it

- Martin (10/5): Luxurious place to stay within Nitmiluk National Park, great restaurant for breakfast & dinner!! - Luxurious place to stay near Kathrine, within Nitmiluk National Park. Beautiful & spacious rooms, comfortable bed, nice pool and friendly staff members. We had dinner in their restaurant twice. They offer a premium three course set menu, which was delicious. Great a la carte breakfast!
- Isaac (10/5): Wonderful stay - Amazing staff took care of us and showed care for our requests. The setting is exceptional. Gardens, pool, restaurant and room decks make the most of the location. The room was spacious and comfortable. The bathroom could be improved with the option for a bath and some scuffing on the walls could be remedied in this calibre of hotel. Staff were willing to help carry bags but a trolley available to guests would help further, especially for check out as the carpark is a bit of a walk from rooms.
- Nancy (9/5): Great Territory Staycation location - Location of dinner and breakfast was great! n/a

- Dirk (10/5): Perfect stay at Nimiluk NP - Neal has managed all our request extremely professional, very kind and friendly
- Ida (9/5): Gorgeous place to stay in Katherine. - The lodge is gorgeous. Our room was spacious, modern and comfortable. The pool area was lovely. The canapés before dinner were excellent too! It was too easy to while away the afternoon sitting on the couch, looking out at the gorgeous view. The food was excellent but pricey. It would have been better to have the choice of an a-la-carte menu rather than solely the fixed menu.
- Bertrand (8/5): -
- Kim (10/5): -
- Van Leeuwestyn (9/5): Beautiful location and great staff - Beautiful location

- Jennifer (10/5): Two nights to experience Katherine Gorge accompanied by an outstanding dinner and delightful breakfasts. E asy access to - A peaceful and spacious room in an ideal location with an excellent dining experience.
- Elliot (10/5): Amazing place especially given its location. - Staff were excellent. Food was outstanding. Service was above and beyond.
- Vanda (5/5): OVERPRICED, Needs maintenance and some serious attention to improving the overall guest experiences. - Good location
Spacious nice room
Canapés and sunset drinks No dedicated reception staff…we had to go looking for someone in the kitchen in order to check in, check out or get any info.
No one to help with the luggage, not even a luggage trolley.
No shade for car parking….even basic 3 star motels provide this in the outback!
We had constant problems with the air con playing up and turning itself off during our entire 4 day stay.
Broken fly screens.
Dirty/stained outdoor furniture.
Staff made errors with booking our tours, booking us on the wrong dates, not providing important info and not sending emails correctly.
The pool across the road in the campground is far superior to the tiny pool with inadequate seating and shade at the lodge.
Inadequate lounges for guests to sit on for sunset drinks
The restaurant only serves a 3 course set menu at $125pp which is the same every night. We were there for 4 nights so certainly did not want the same food every night and to be forced to have to eat/pay for 3 courses when normally we’d only have 1.
No laundry service….we were told we could use the laundry services across in the campground!
OVERALL…. SERIOUSLY OVERPRICED FOR WHAT YOU ACTUALLY GET!
- Thomas (10/5): -
- David (9/5): - The facilities were excellent. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly. The food was excellent and very good value. The location was excellent.
- Alain (10/5): - Magnifique établissement
- Yvonne (10/5): Pleasant up market feel, quality food and very friendly staff. - Restaurant and staff were great
- Vanessa (9/5): The room was nice but lacked style. There was no art works on the wall considering you are on Jawoyn country would be nic - It's very peaceful The food options at the restaurant were very limited.Breakfast was way too fancy l just wanted cereal and toast that was unavailable not everyone wants a big heavy breakfast.
We stayed 6 nights didn't eat dinner once $125 a head for a 3 course dinner we thought was way too expensive every night and very fancy we just wanted a normal meal if we had eaten dinner there for the 6 nights our food bill would have been $1500 just ridiculous.
- Joanne (10/5): great location and ambiance - great breakfast although dinner option of only set menu a little limiting.Perhaps you could offer a two course option all good nothing to write about other than the limited full three course dinner offering
- Michael (10/5): - Excellent fully air conditioned lodge inside the Nitmiluk park, with a good dining area and bar.
- Diana McCoy (9/5): -
- Yann (8/5): -
- Ian and Susan (8/5): Comfy stay with excellent food. - Great food. Good spot. Cold but nice pool. Giant cockroaches in the bathroom at 3am.
- Nat (10/5): Amazing place to stay, highly recommend - Comfy beds, amazing food, helpful and friendly staff Having to leave :(
- Lesley (10/5): Luxury Lodgings In The Wilderness - We loved everything about our stay at Cicada Lodge.
The peaceful location, within walking distance of Nitmiluk Gorge, is fabulous as is the comfort of our room, the bush view from our private balcony and the attention given to us during our stay. Each night we were warmly welcomed by the staff with complimentary drinks and canapés around the pool.
The two course breakfasts are exceptional and were complemented by the most flavoursome freshly-squeezed orange juice I have ever tasted. I also appreciated that our pots of breakfast tea were made from leaves, not teabags. It is the little details that make all the difference.
Watching the sunset on our second night, as we dined poolside on modern Australian cuisine, created a very magical memory, even more so because it was my birthday. One of the delightful staff got wind of the occasion and presented my dessert with a candle and a “Happy Birthday” message she had iced with flourish across the plate. She seemed to get as much of a kick from it as I did.
We would highly recommend a stay at Cicada Lodge. It is definitely a worthwhile indulgence. Some large artwork in the rooms would add a nice touch.
- Melanie (9/5): Perfect base to explore Nitmiluk. - The rooms are spacious and comfortable with a balcony overlooking the bush. The breakfast was exceptional with a starting plate of fruit, a danish and yoghurt with nuts/fruit, followed by a choice of cooked options. Dinner, although pricey, was very good with options for entree, mains and dessert, although we noticed a difference in the same meal between different chefs. One waiter was superb, attentive without being intrusive, friendly and helpful. The lodge is within easy walking distance of river cruises and walks, and is a great non-drive base to explore Nitmiluk Gorge. Easy driving to other features within the park or to Mataranka. Overall, the service was excellent, but somewhat spoiled by the slow service and disinterested/borderline surly attitude of one of the waitresses at dinner on our final night.
- Aurelijus (10/5): It’s a great facility with nice amenities - The villas at the lodge are very nice, comfy and spacious. They serve great breakfast and complementary evening drinks were also very nice. Great environment and close to the gorge. The restaurant is also worth trying. The pool could have been warmer. The room could have had a couch. But otherwise everything was great.
- Kate (8/5): - lovely spot. needs landscaping on river side to improve aspect
- Piotr (10/5): -
- Peter (8/5): Expensive but close the the Gorge and nice accomodation. - Close to Katherine Gorge. Good King size bed. Comfortable room. Landscaping at front of room, tractors in view. They could hide the machinery while not in use.
- lowe (9/5): -
- Kevin (9/5): Everything you need to explore the region. - Awesome experience at Cicada lodge, beautiful rooms, food and staff. Nothing
- Edwards (9/5): -
- Ciara (9/5): Highly recommend, a luxurious and relaxing stay. - A touch of luxury in the midst of authentic NT, the rooms were spacious each with an uninterrupted rural view. The set menu evening meal was exquisite with superb attention to detail on each course. It was our last night in NT and our trip definitely ended on a high. Staff helpfulness was a little inconsistent ranging from fabulously super-helpful to vague disdain.
- Debbie (7/5): Good food & location. - Great location Small deck. Beds uncomfortable
- Chris (8/5): -
- Janette (8/5): The stay was excellent just disappointed by the pool surround - Staff were excellent, good food good food and lovely rooms Swimming pool chairs were very uncomfortable and not conducive to staying by the pool
- Guy (9/5): Lovely place - Its a really great place. Great location next to the Gorge and boat trips. Really well set up with lovely rooms and sitting areas. Fantastic food served by lovely helpful staff.
- Delphine (10/5): Un petit coin de paradis - Tout sans exception: la beauté du lieu, la gentillesse du personnel, la qualité des repas ( dîner soigné). Rien
- Tanya (10/5): -
- Michael Kronborg Holst (10/5): Dejligt roligt sted. Tæt ved udflugts start. Gode trails. Meget god morgen og aftensmad. - Dejlige værelser. God pool. God restaurant.
Godt personale. Neil’s service var out standing.
Han gjorde en forskel
- Patrick J D (10/5): Not the cheapest but really good value - Excellent all round all was fine
- Susie (10/5): -
- Anne (9/5): Expensive, but glad we splurged to stay here. - The room was stylish and spacious with a balcony and a nice outlook to natural vegetation. The breakfast was excellent and served in the restaurant or by the pool. Drinks and excellent canapes were served each night at 6pm. We weren't able to make it the 2nd night as we were doing a sunset dinner cruise, but we were able to have the drinks after we returned which was appreciated. The pool is not large but adequate for the number of guests there at any one time and the outlook is very nice. It was great to be so close to the gorge that we could walk down to the cruise departure point, about 10 minutes or so away and also to a lookout over the gorge. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We heard some talking & walking noise from the neighboring room very early in the morning on one of the 2 nights we stayed.
We chose to eat outside by the pool for breakfast & dinner as the setting was very nice. At night there were candles on the tables and the ambience was lovely .... until the outside lighting got switched on after dusk - this was way too bright in our opinion.
- Margie (9/5): Amazing location. - Amazing location close to the Nitmiluk cruise centre.
Beautiful staff. Special mention to Neil. What a personality! So helpful! Limited dinner menu. Set price. Very $$
Tip: Great pool bar at the adjacent park for a meal!
Below par cleaning especially in the bathroom.
- Rosemarie (10/5): Bliss in the outback - Great service Liked it all
- Kevin (9/5): -
- Evan (10/5): -
- Chrysti (10/5): - Cicada Lodge was a huge diamond in the rough surprise. We were beyond happy with the accommodations, service, and the food was excellent! I will defintely be coming back!
- Mark (10/5): - Very helpful staff
- LISA (10/5): Fabulous, highly recommended - Stunning location. Very quiet and peaceful. Easy access to walks, gorge and facilities.
Staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. Fabulous daily breakfast and evening drinks and canapés included.
- Corcoran (7/5): - it was good, the fruit platter was lovely.
hot food choices also good
coffee good and fresh juice also nice no power points beside the bed to charge phone and use alarm. Closest power was on the wall and had to get out of bed to turn off alarm.
Bedside table for reading was very dull and no ceiling lights.
- carmichael (10/5): -
- Chris (10/5): A special stay - Peaceful and beautiful facilities in a great location right by the National Park
- Fernante (10/5): -
- jan-marie (7/5): - Bed and room were very comfy Staff attention to detail, knowing their product even menu items,
- Joanne (7/5): Probably the best choice of accommodation in the area with a boutique feel but let down by the over fancy food and uncom - Great location close to the gorge tours and visitor centre. Canapés and sunset drinks a nice touch . Staff friendly Bed was 2 twins pushed together so dipped in the middle - not so comfortable. Room Balcony so dark and screened off that we didn’t bother using ( no views) Food was hit and miss - we found the evening dinner quite mediocre with over- innovative combinations/ sauces which spoiled the dishes we chose
- Frank (10/5): Ideal gelegene Lodge direkt in Nationalpark, fussläufig zu den Bootstouren - Hervorragendes Essen, sowohl Frühstück als auch Menü abends. Sehr aufmerksamer Service.
- doug (7/5): -
- Mei (10/5): - Great location in Nitmiluk gorge itself. Near Baruwei lookout, the visitors centre and the jetty where the boat cruises leave. Very friendly and accommodating staff. Beautiful food. Canapes, predinner drinks and breakfast included. Very comfortable bed and spacious room. Pool was being renovated so option was to use the Jatti pool opposite at the cabins. Drinks voucher for complimentary drinks there. Tapware tricky to manoeuvre
