We stayed in the suite in the basement which was very charming and I would recommend requesting this room. It was large and very cool which was great after a hot day of sightseeing. We spent our final night in the yellow room which was also nice. The bus stop to catch the bus into Quebec is a short walk and the bus ride takes about 10-15 minutes. It was also easy to take the bus to the falls. The price for to stay at this charming hotel was excellent. I would stay again!

Bruno (6/5): - This is a great example of how the pictures on the booking site are very dated. Perhaps at one point it looked like that but not anymore. Honestly thought the house was abandoned when we first pulled up. The inside is quite nice for an old house and the room was fine enough. Either it’s time to update the pictures on the booking site or bring the property back up to what is shown on the site. Check in staff is very responsive and the location is really good. Just don’t like being surprised by the dramatic difference between booking pictures and the reality of the place. As someone who travels a lot this is a big pet peeve.

Michael (10/5): Our favorite place to stay in QC. - This charming house was perfect and we’re already considering it as “our place” in QC. Check in was easy and the room was clean and very conveniently located for all we wanted to do. The neighborhood is just delightful with great places to eat within walking distance. Highly recommend! We couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay.
Priansh (6/5): Late checkin beware of the front door being locked - I had a late check-in and the property left me a paper with instructions to enter my room. However, they forgot to leave the front door open so I couldnt enter for 20 mins searching for the door lock and key. Finally they answered and told me where they hide the front door key, so if you are checkin late, pls ask for this specific question. Overall the room was ok and good for my one night stay.

REBECCA (8/5): - It is a cute little place and the basement suite was very comfortable, and clean. It was difficult to connect with owners as I didn't have internet to receive phone texts. I called and they directed me to my room with key in door. No other information. I found another room with the password for the internet on the door. I left at 8 a.m. without any contact. Good sleep, plenty of hot water in the shower. Don't know about spa/pool/room service. The parking was on a side street requiring moving prior to 0900 but was safe and walking distance. Good stay.

The facility was very tired and needs a lot of work both outside and in. There are only two parking places for 9 rooms. There is no food provided onsite anymore. The towels and bedding are worn, frayed and bleach stained. The air conditioner was very noisy and could not be adjusted. The bathroom sink was extremely slow to drain. The facility smelled musty. We live in a 150 year old home that is in a lot better shape than this auberge. It was not as advertised on the Expedia site.

IONA (8/5): - We stayed here for 4 nights, it is approximately a 7 min drive into the old city of Quebec, convenient, parking is $18 for 24 hours in most lots. We had a very large room in the basement, sleeps 5. It was quite damp. The beds were comfortable, plenty of storage space, large bathroom however a bath mat is recommended, it was very challenging for all of us to avoid falling. Tea kettle was left in room with glasses, we could not work the TV. There is a very nice eating room with microwave/fridge if you have brought your own food.
Jennifer (10/5): - This is a beautiful home full of old world charm. The family studio room was unique and full of character. We loved the roof top terrace and mini kitchen area for making/eating breakfast. The host was so kind and helpful, had a cot set up without us asking, to accommodate our third child. We walked down to the old city in 30 minutes and there’s a beautiful park with a pool just a 5 minute walk away.

Verified traveler (10/5): Anniversary Stay in Quebec - We absolutely loved this hotel! The staff were very friendly and helpful with any questions we had. Unfortunately our French is not great but all staff were very good at communicating to us in English. They helped us get situated to Quebec City and provided us a map of attractions to check out. They were able to provide us with great advice and experiences during our stay in Quebec. The hotel was very clean and tidy and had a lot of charm which made you feel welcome the moment you entered. Our room was perfect! We were on the third floor and had access to the balcony which was beautiful. Our room was very clean and tidy, as was the bathroom within our room. We ate at the restaurant one morning while staying at the hotel. The food was great, staff were so pleasant and the experience overall was exceptional. We can’t wait to return in the future! I would definitely recommend this place if you are looking for a place to stay while in Quebec City!

Aleeza (8/5): Solid private room in an open environment - The set-up was interesting. First of all, there is no large sign labeling the building. This was probably my bad as I didn't look closely enough at the photos when I had booked the location, but just don't expect any signs and trust the street numbers. Street parking is convenient on the weekends. Their "parking" is really 2 spots on their grass. Note that they do not have 24/7 desk service, if you show up late, you'll see a note on the front door and you just follow the instructions and head in. I wasn't too fond of this process as it means that their front door is open at all times. It seemed like a really safe area, but I still think a simple lock with a number you key in would be ideal. The "Green" room and shared bathroom was quaint and clean! The building overall was very quiet. There's a sink and mirror in your room to freshen up with. The shared bathroom had some quirks and required some maintenance, but the man downstairs fixed it immediately. All of the staff spoke fluent English. Great little place to stay! I do have to put some sort of notification here for anyone who thinks this is a "bed and breakfast" - it is NOT. The food is not complimentary - maybe another mistake of mine? You can order breakfast in the cafe downstairs but the food is mediocre and I didn't care for the woman's attitude when I asked her questions for clarification about the food and price. I would suggest heading into the city for some breakfast.

Hiker (4/5): C heap hotel at a not so cheap price. - For what we paid we expected a nice place. It was in an undesirable part of town and overall somewhat dilapidated. Ventilation in room was poor, especially on a hot day. Would be great for students if the price wasn't too high.
Verified traveler (4/5): Good and bad - Pros: Safe and quiet residential neighbourhood accessible by bus. Rooftop nice for picnic. Bathroom adequate and clean. Fridges and microwaves are available in the corridor on both floors and are handy. There is a laundry room as well. The owner introduced the sights and the owner/staff are responsive to questions. (I think they do not stay overnight.) Wifi worked. Cons: After receiving Expedia's email that said that my deposit has been processed, the auberge emailed me to say Expedia hadn't charged me and asked me to pay the deposit by Paypal. There was no mention of such a requirement before booking, and I was unhappy about this. If I had been able to find alternative accommodation I would have cancelled the booking right away. Our room was hot. It had a ceiling fan and an air conditioner, but if you closed the curtain it would block the entire cool air outlet.

Al (8/5): Nice Hotel/Inn not far from Old Quebec City - Location is easy to find and a few minutes drive from Old Quebec City. The room we had was quite comfortable, and well insulated for sound. Not sure if it’s still the case, but when we booked the place, we thought it was a B&B as Expedia categorized it as such, but they do not serve breakfast. We were pointed to an excellent place for breakfast a couple hundred meters away. We'd stay there again
Devon (8/5): Very Good Experience - The building certainly has character and it reminds me a bit of old-style apartments I've lived in, for better and for worse. Our room, "Altana Room 7", had two skylights, one with an A/C unit rigged in it. It was clean and organized. The bathroom had a slight odor, likely from humidity, but they did have air freshener to use. The TV and A/C couldn't be plugged in at the same time without running extension cords around and it also left us without plugs bedside. These are, of course, minor nuisances. There was a terrace near our room, which got quite a bit of sun. No one was at the desk when we arrived at noon, though we were a couple hours earlier than the designated check-in time. Regardless, one of the young staff who was cleaning pleasantly helped us and got us settled without any question. Nicola gave excellent info to guide us on our trip. He marked up a map with our itinerary and let us know exactly how to work our plans around the bus. Francois was equally friendly and helped us the next day. All around, the staff was great. The location was convenient. Even though the neighborhood itself was residential and slightly outside the city, the 800(express) bus stopped a block away and went right to the heart of the city. Best of all, the hotel was easy to get to upon arrival. Our drive essentially took us around the city, so we didn't deal with too much traffic or hectic, narrow Old Quebec streets. Free parking on the weekends was even better!

Brittany (8/5): - The service here was wonderful, the guys were interested in our plans in the city and gave us lots of helpful tips as well as contributed some local must see spots. As most places in the city there was no central cooling and unfortunately the room we opted for did not have a window unit so it was quite hot. The building is a but old and it shows in some aspects but the staff has done a great job of decorating each room and keeping things very clean. You're pretty close to some pubs and the hotel offers free bike rentals.

We had a shared bathroom which was clean and stocked with toiletries. The owner was so nice and helpful. This is the best inn we have stayed in. Great value for what you get. There are restaurants and grocery stores in walking distance. Parking was free in the street at night.

I am travelling a lot and staying in lots of hotels and mostly they all have the same "boring" appearance. This hotel was a nice exception from this rule. The hotel itself is 100 years old picturesque building with small bakery-cafe. Each room has its unique appearance, which is selected very meticulously, so this place is more like boutique hotel. The rooms are clean; the water pressure in showers is good. Some rooms have private bathroom and some share it with another room. I stayed in both types and it was OK. The area around hotel is nice, some very good eating-places (I highly recommend Le Maizerets restaurant). You can walk to Old City or rent a bike from hotel owners, bus stops and taxi station are near the place too. Hotel hosts, Francois and Nicola, both speaking English are very helpful and hospitable. They helped me a lot to get my staying there even more pleasant. Therefore, to cut a long story short, if you looking for typical American hotel, I am not sure this place is for you. However, if like me, you want to immerse yourself deeper the culture of Quebec City, to have an impression that you are living at Parisian apartment somewhere near Montmartre - this place will definitely suit you. It is a real gem and sadly, you cannot find a lot of these nowadays... Merci beaucoup Francois and Nicola for everything! See you next time. Au revoir!
Doug (10/5): Very good place to stay in Quebec City. - Only stayed one night but it was comfortable and well set up. They saw to every detail including bath supplies. It gets cool at night so there is no AC. Even in August you don't need anything other than the provided fans at night. Both managers were very helpful providing a tour map with accurate instructions where to go. I suggest driving all around the hilly areas first before parking your car. It would have been exhausting for we oldies to try and walk up and down those 4 miles of hills where the neat things are. A lot of road work makes some driving confusing this August, 2014.
Bryan (8/5): Very nice bed and breakfast style - Quiet room. Dog friendly. Staff were great. A little far from downtown.
Lulu (8/5): Inn just outside of Old Quebec - We really enjoyed our stay. The location was perfect as it was quiet and a quick cab or bus trip into the city. Our room was clean, the staff were so helpful and courteous. We ate breakfast at the cafe in the inn and received discounts at several delicious places to eat. Overall, we were very happy and will be back.
Verified traveler (8/5): Stayed longer than expected - Francois and Nicolas are the BEST !! The Auberge is clean, in an excellent area, close to bus stop, quiet and comfy ... Downside is only two parking spots during weekdays. We will DEF go back ... Lots of good advice from the owners :)
Verified traveler (4/5): For the price , look around - The room was small , the AC was not directly in the room , so had to have fan on all night . No breakfast , so for the same price look around and get B&B with breakfast included.
