- HampshireKenny (8/5): Centrally Located Hotel in Old Building - Stayed here a few nights with a group of friends. This is a nicely located hotel three or four minutes walk into the town centre. There is lots of parking immediately opposite. Being an old building brings with it lots of character as well as rooms being scattered about over several floors. There is a very small lift, thankfully, that will take guests up to the 1st and 2nd floors. Many rooms however will still require climbing some steps. The rooms vary in size and shape. The first room allocated was itself divided on two floor levels, with a step between, but reception were most helpful and provided an alternative. Although in the annex and smaller, it was perfectly fine. All bedrooms appear to have modern bathroom fittings and were very clean and nicely maintained. All the staff were pleasant and helpful. Breakfast was buffet style and, perhaps a bit unusually, included a hot selection as well as continental. Our party took evening meals together in the hotel which was nicely served and to most people’s taste. The hotel's restaurant is popular with local groups for evening party meals. Vegetarians were catered for. Nice selection of local wines from the small bar area. While sadly there is no hotel lounge, the hotel does have tables and chairs immediately outside which makes for a pleasant area for an evening drink in pleasant weather.

- colinp34 (4/5): Beware the annex rooms - Really frustrated we ended up in a room not in the main hotel, we were not informed this was the case when we booked, if we had been we would have cancelled. Very dark and small, the room went straight onto the street, above the kitchen so noisy till late, mould on the bathroom ceiling. When we queried the fact we were not in the hotel, we were told we should of had a message to tell us this, we didn’t receive this, no apology, just that all the other rooms were booked a year ago? Odd explanation, no reaction to us stating there was mould on the bathroom ceiling, just carried on charging us the tourist tax. It’s a pity, as it’s in a good position and the rest of the hotel looks nice.

- elena (8/5): - Un hôtel situé au très bon endroit de Sarlat Un début difficile avec une chambre toute petite dite standard, le lit est à 50 cm de la porte qui elle même est face a l’ascenseur.. une très belle terrasse qui ne suffit pas… pour autant un service client réactif et à l’écoute puisque le lendemain changement de chambre climatisé, plus spacieuse et très au calme. Ont le sens du service et cela a été très apprécié et a permis de nous faire passer un très bon séjour à sarlat.

- David (4/5): Pot luck - This hotel has a reputation for hit or miss, we ended up in a terrible room. Room 29 for reference. It is an annex room.over the kitchen. The extractor fan of which empties cooking fumes on to the dirty terrace. On arrival we had a curt welcome, on the street, to the shortness of this is your room. We went out for a drink and came back to a patio now with with other peoples disgarded beer bottles. The door of our annexe room could not be locked from the outside and only with great difficulty from the inside.
- SalimKent (10/5): Nice hotel and very good lunch - We were visiting family and wanted a hotel within walking distance of restaurants and bars. This hotel fits that perfectly. We were in the Main Street market on Saturday morning within minutes. The initial greeting was friendly. Our room was on the 2nd floor, accessed by a tiny lift. The room itself was reasonably sized with a modern toilet and bathroom worked well into the old building. The only downside was no air con, but we were able to leave the window open and the fan on. The bed was comfortable with plugs on the bed side tables. We met friends for lunch on the Saturday and ate outside. The fixed priced menu was excellent and well priced. We will return next year.
- EJS50 (10/5): Enjoyed the atmosphere of La Couleuvrine - We really enjoyed our stay at La Couleuvrine. We loved that the building is an old rampart tower from the 15th century, and we got to stay at the very top! We loved the atmosphere of the place -- it fit in perfectly with the town. The location was perfect. The staff was very friendly, the breakfast good, the room comfortable and fun. We had a car and did pay the 15 euro a nice for a nice safe gated parking area about a 5-10 minute walk away.

- robertj3333 (10/5): Perfect Get Aways - I wanted to spend some time after the Olympics to see some castles and visit with a friend from high school. I stayed at La Couleuvrine for a few days and loved every minute of it. First the room is clean and the staff was super nice. Second, the location was perfect. It is just a couple minute walk to the town square that has strewn performers and a market that gets even bigger on Saturday. So much energy and life there. I got to get in three castles while I was there within 20 minutes. There was Kayaking on a river nearby. My room did have ac but understand not all do, so if you need it be sure to ask. At night it was cool so windows would work and I was out during the day. I am already looking at when I can come back to see and do more.

- Ohdaretrips (10/5): Two nights in Sarlat - The location of the hotel is only a short walk from the centre of Sarlat, use of their private parking is recommended and is only about 250m from the hotel. The hotel staff are very friendly and helpful during are stay. The evening meal we had was excellent.

C'est dommage, car c'est un très bel établissement avec un personnel très accueillant.

Pour le plaisir. Chaque chambre est une jolie surprise, et la conciergerie très attentive au bien-être des clients. Les chambres et les sanitaires sont très propres, rénovés avec goût. Par contre, je regrette l'absence d'une personne pouvant aider au transport des bagages, mais il est vrai que je ne l'ai pas demandé...Catherine.

- Javier (8/5): Mansión con encanto - El hotel está bien si más, tiene el encanto de ser una mansión clásica Francesa, nos tocó la habitación de arriba del todo, en el tejado, la habitación estaba bien, limpia y silenciosa. Fuimos con un perrito pequeño y las mascotas don gratis. El parking de pago esta a 2 calles del hotel, las plazas son grandes.

- Cyril (10/5): Excellent hotel and staff and Sarlat great. Thanks - it was exceptionally good. The hotel was really lovelu, historic and interesting in its make up. We were in the room in the battlements, it was roomy and the bathroom absolutly first class, the fact that it was at the top of the building was hard work for us as we are bothh over eighty, and the lift only took us halfway up, but well worth the effort. The food was very good and we ate at the hotel for the three nights that we were in Sarlat and the staff treated us really well, our efforts to speak french were not quite as good as their efforts to speak english, but the light hearted banter that resulted was great. Thanks very much for making it such a good part of our holiday
- Ian (6/5): Nice building, shame about the room and breakfast - Handsome building close to beautiful medieval town of Sarlat, disappointing room high in the roof rather like staff quarters. A large ladder in the middle of the room made moving around difficult. Rather noisy location, bed comfortable, bathroom ok. Unappealing breakfast served in scruffy bar rather than the dining room so we walked into town. Hotel overpriced.
- Jose (8/5): Very nice location, nice hotel overall - Hotel is very well located by the old town. Food is good, and has a nice restaurant. The hotel condition is fair, elevator is very small, and lots of stairs to reach the room. Room is small and just ok condition.
- PLR (4/5): Disapointing - Practically impossible to use the bathroom so small it is. Access to the room painful with luguage; no help available.
- Karen (8/5): Charming hotel adjacent historic city center - Charming rustic hotel with fantastic on site restaurant--reservations recommended. Steps away from perimeter of historic city center which hosts wonderful Saturday market and is easily walkable. Terrific getaway. Just wish there was in room kettle for cup of tea.

- Russell (2/5): Worst Hotel - Did not stay as room was up 4 flights of stairs with no lift - not working!! The room was the worst i have ever seen and not as advertised on site or as booked
- Edward (8/5): Good affordabe base to tour but a couple of warts - It is a 2 * hotel so there are good things and bad things. Our room was bigger than most small hotels (I assume all the rooms were different), but the shower was the smallest I think I have ever been in. The breakfast is a great deal for 10E. Bar was convenient and reasonably priced. Wifi worked fine but was irritating as every time you disconnected you had to reregister. Public lot parking is OK if you are doing day trips but irritating if you spent the day in the hotel (3 hour max ticket for about 5 euros between 9am and 7pm.) Nice laundromat across street. Seems to be a favorite with cycling tours.

- Pamela (10/5): Thumbs up! - We spent one night in the Tower Room which was very clean and a very reasonable price. It is a charming hotel with the perfect location to explore Sarlat. I would highly recommend it - and will stay there again next time I travel to Sarlat!

- Verified traveler (6/5): Good, but needs air con for summer. - Lovely hotel, well placed to explore Sarlat old town. Great food and breakfast. However, if you visit in the summer, be advised that a room without air-conditioning is very uncomfortable when it comes to sleeping. Open the window and turn on the fan, but then road and fan noise keep you awake. This is the only reason for a 3.0 rating.

- Stephen (2/5): Horrendous night - Appalling. Manager knew about Cheese & wine party, did not tell us. The party was under our window , late and loud. The restaurant was closed - one of the reasons for going was the restaurant - again no prior information. The noise continued in the morning with the Manager and his cronies talking loudly just under the bedroom window. Char room with beams booked - not allocated, a few additional requests not allocated. No room facilities coffee tea mini bar.
- Verified traveler (8/5): good all round hotel - Good location for seeing both Sarlet and the surrounding area. As it was out of season the parking was all free but as there was a xmas market it was not easy finding a spot.Staff were friendly and the breakfast good value...nice stay would return
- Lorraine (6/5): Be careful not to be charged twice for your room - Watch your charges when you stay at this hotel. We were charged double on our credit card for our room and after several calls from Hotel.com, they finally agreed to reverse the second charges for the room but it still hasn't shown up on our credit card. The hotel does not provide shuttle service and it was impossible to get a taxi to pick us up at the train station. Although it is not that far from the station, it is a rather challenging walk with suitcases up hill on the cobblestone roads. We had a large room, beautifully decorated, clean and comfortable. Breakfast provided at a cost was sufficient. Great to have our own private entrance. The restaurant offers a very good dinner.

- Verified traveler (6/5): Tiny - The hotel was charming. Our two rooms were so tiny we couldn't bring all of our luggage into them. (Not a lot either). There were other larger rooms, but we had 2 tiny rooms. The location was good. Easy to walk to the town and there was good parking.

- Sandra (8/5): - This hotel is in a wonderful spot for Sarlat old town, and is very French and has lots of corridors and beautiful stone walls. A little basic and could probably do with a refurb but it was lovely, quirky and enjoyed our stay. The receptionist was very welcoming and helpful and very welcoming with our dogs. Will stay again.
- Anna (8/5): - This unique hotel looks like it was originally 4 or 5 separate buildings. The shape of the rooms and the access certainly reflect the age of the buildings! Our room was spacious and the bed comfortable. It accommodated two additional single beds for our children easily. We ate breakfast and dinner at the hotel and both were very good.

- Sally (10/5): Lovely hotel - Lovely hotel in a great, central location. I was travelling with my mother and my sister - we hadd 3 rooms, all very individual and all clean, comfortable and tastefully decorated and furnished. Serge was delightful - friendly and fun, and we had great service throughout, including in the restaurant, which serves delicious food in very nice surroundings. I'd definitely return.

The medieval style & decor was lovely.Our room was pretty & clean and we appreciated the elevator:) The staff was SO helpful & arranged taxis for our visit to the caves & other sites. The food at the restaurant was excellent!

- Verified traveler (2/5): Mixed review. Don't trust the pictures - Great location adjacent to historic old part of town with great restaurants all around. Lots of shops that cater to tourists if you're into trinkets and such. Food was good throughout. Hotel food was very good though overpriced. Service by the front desk staff was very good. The woman behind the desk was very nice and helpful. That's the good part. The bad part is NO AIR CONDITIONING! That's normally okay, but not when it's nearly 100 outside with high humidity. Secondly, it's very old and is very much in need of an update inside. Our room was tiny. Literally the bed took up entire room. Had to exit bed by sliding down to the end. Bathroom also tiny. Had to sit on toilet sideways because there wasn't enough room to sit on it normally. Shower was so small that I literally couldn't turn around in it. Have dinner here but don't stay here.

- Verified traveler (6/5): Well located, lovely outdoor area, small room. - 3 night stay, Room 23 up a flight of stairs really only suitable for one person as it is in the loft with roof beams exposed and partial low ceiling. Watch your head! We took breakfast on day 2, not worth the additional charge .... When we got there supplies were low and not restocked. Hotel has a great location, beautiful outdoor dining, relaxation area. It will be even better when smoking is banned near outdoor dining in France.

- Steve (8/5): Hotel la couleuvrine - Great little boutique hotel right on the edge of the old city. It doesn't have its own parking but plenty of street parking available. Very helpful front desk. Laundromat right across the street. The first night we were in a section of the hotel with no elevator. It was a little difficult to carry bags up a winding staircase. The staff moved our bags to a different room for the rest of our stay which had elevator access. Very nice hotel for the price. We didn't have dinner there but it must be good because it was fairly busy every night.

- Kerry (8/5): Excellent Budget AccommodationSarlat-la-Caneda - Two couples travelling so I base this on the standard of two double rooms. Note this is a budget hotel not a 5 star accommodation. The rooms were clean, plenty of room although shower rather small. As we were travelling in winter the heating was perfect. I would certainly stay again as within walking distance to everything we wanted to do.

- A Kagis (10/5): Stylish hotel - We had an excellent experience at this hotel for our stay in Sarlat. We were close to all sites. The hotel staff were very helpful and the breakfasts were well worth the price. We would definitely recommend!
- The Higgs (10/5): Character, Convenience and Charm in Sarlat - Lovely stay for one night. Comfy bed in very small but cozy room was just perfect for sight-seeing in the old town. Liked big window that opened to courtyard/parking lot but was noisy when patrons dining below us. For the price, was really worth it. But note that is impossible to get taxi from train station. Ask front desk to call for you. It worked for our return to the station.
