Guest Reviews
- Marvin Ariel (10/5): -
- Luu (9/5): Nice and warm place to stay. I would recommend coming back. The staff made the stay very welcome. Thank you! - It was a cute place but most importantly were the staff. Aisleen took good care of us and making sure our stay was comfortable. Other staff were nice too. The Japanese breakfast was not good. The fish is very salty.
- Gregory (8/5): -
- Stig (10/5): The place to stay in al quiet neighbourhood with good family restaurants in the area. - There was a breakfast in the morning, unusual for ryokans and smaller hotels in Japan. All was good.
- Valeria (10/5): - Amazing place! The staff was so kind. Everyone spoke fluent English (which would not have been a problem if they didn't, but it's probably useful to know for anyone who does not fare well with Japanese). Check-in was easy and smooth. We were immediately offered additional services as per their email (breakfast and traditional bath) and jumped at the chance for both. They also offered a calligraphy class but unfortunately we had more travel planned for the next day, which is a shame because I would have loved to try it!
The bath was very relaxing and much needed after a long day of travel 😂 since we did not manage to try onsen, we felt this was still close enough to be able to say we did. Breakfast was delicious. There were plenty of options, but we went with a traditional Japanese one. We loved it so much, I made it the day right after coming back home.
The room was also beautiful. No notes overall. Great stay, would recommend. (P.S.: Special shoutout to Dy and the super kind gal whose name I did not catch who complimented me about my hair! Same to you, girl. Same to you. 😍)

- Thomas (9/5): -
- Friedrich (8/5): - The hotel is very quiet. The staff are extremely friendly and the breakfast was excellent. The rooms are spartanly furnished (futons and zaisus), but that is in keeping with tradition.
- Julie (10/5): - The staff were exceptional- friendly, professional and always available when you needed them. The Japanese breakfast was fresh, delicious and filling. The location is great within walking distance to Senso-ji, Ueno Park and Yanaka. It’s also in a quiet part of Tokyo. Nothing about it that I didn’t like.
- Damian (10/5): -
- Reichmann (9/5): -
- Laura (8/5): Muy buena y relajada. Personal excepcional. Habitaciones tradicionales buenas. Lavabo pequeño y no de bonito diseño
- Trevor (8/5): Fun little hotel. - Breakfast was great, changed everyday we were there. Great value. Staff were super friendly and helpful. Room felt very Japanese. Futons were a little thin compared to other places we have stayed.

- Chloe (10/5): -
- Pedro (10/5): Lovely little place in the heart of Tokyo - Friendliest staff I have ever interacted with
Small and cozy feeling, along with that traditional aesthetic
Rooms are spacious and as advertised
Private onsen is one of the best features
Breakfast is delicious and well presented Rooms could use with a bit of a spruce up
- Thorsten (10/5): -
- Kate (10/5): Nice, relaxed base in Tokyo. - Quite a good location. Beautiful room. Very friendly & helpful staff. Good breakfast. Futon very thin, very hard. Not good for decent nearby restaurants.
- Lenka (8/5): - Very nice and helpful international staff. I think this would be a great place for first-time visitors to Jpan who want to experience a bit of traditional Japanese culture, and see a different side of Tokyo. Access from public transport is a bit complicated if you have more luggage. Breakfast options were a bit limited. You can book a bath but it´s tiny so a bit awkward if you´re not family but e.g. friends travelling together.
- Sigrun (9/5): -
- Lynne (9/5): Super nice location and easily accessible. - Loved being near Ueno Park. Great, quiet area but with nice local restaurants etc. It was lovely.
- Jessika (10/5): Lovely traditional option with friendly staff and great location in Tokyo - Location was central and easy to navigate all of Tokyo. Staff were so kind and friendly from the time we arrived and at every juncture of our trip. They made our stay easy, comfortable and fun. Thanks especially to Nora, Aislinn and Dylan! We would love a place to sit when we don’t order breakfast at the property.
- Itiya (10/5): I wrote it all above ! I would say it’s great value for money !!!! - It gave me the peace of mind needed after a long day! Spacious room, laundry option and a cute bath It is quite simple but that’s what I paid for !
- Habiba (10/5): -
- Bourgeois (10/5): -
- Arun (8/5): - Friendly and helpful staff. It had all facilities including the bath and laundry service. Breakfast was delicious. Spacious room. There was a smell of garbage just outside the room door.
- Dylan (10/5): Great spot & staff! - Great location in a quieter part of Tokyo. Staff very friendly & helpful Further to trains than others (not a major issue as nice walkable area but confusing to get to station at first)
- Cinzia (8/5): -
- Donna (9/5): - I really enjoyed the aesthetics of the Edo Sakura . The facilities were excellent, the staff were attentive and very helpful. Highly recommend
- Bruna (10/5): - sehr freundlich und gemütlich
- Amedeo (9/5): Good for a long stay, we spent 8 nights and the daily cleaning and services offered did us a world of good. - Good position close to the metro, daily room cleaning service, old style Ryokan building. Room was quite small and humid, bathroom needs a renovation
- Giuseppina (10/5): Wonderful experience - Staff so friendly from the check in to the checkout moment, the experience of sleeping in Futon was excellent, the position was perfect, breakfast was good.... Nice and warm atmosphere!!! Highly recommended! Thank you much
- Luisa Vittoria (10/5): - Onsen privata
- Maude (9/5): -
- Alexander (10/5): - Japanese hotel experience for foreigners. This Ryokan is perfectly made for foreign tourists who wish to deep into Japanese culture, without risking any faux pas in a "real" Ryokan.
Rien.
- Lara (9/5): -
- Michael (7/5): -
- Alexander (10/5): -
- Aniruddha (9/5): - Traditional stay experience - hospitality is very good. Location is not great, while convenient, it’s not at heart of the action
- Brendon (10/5): Great customer service - We stayed in the Japanese room, which was spacious and clean. It comes with futons that you have to assemble, and you can ask for extra futons or pillows if you like. The hotel is in a quieter area and not too far from Uguisudani station on the Yamanote line, or Iriya station on the Hibiya line. There's a mini stop around the corner, and other conbinis nearby too. The staff were extremely helpful and welcoming. When we checked in, we got a cup of tea and a rundown of how everything works at the hotel. It was also raining at the time, and we were able to borrow umbrellas from them. They also looked after our washing while we were away. At the end of our stay, we tried to deliver our luggage to another hotel, and the staff at Edo were very thorough in making sure everything went smoothly for us.
- Peter (8/5): -
- Dima Lee (8/5): - The hotel is great, the staff is amazing, responsive, and talkative; it was a huge pleasure to interact with them.
The hotel is in a quiet location, not far from the metro (a 10-minute walk).
There are plenty of bars and restaurants nearby to eat and drink, and a supermarket is located about 500 meters from the hotel.
Breakfast is excellent at a reasonable price. The Japanese sauna features an onsen-style bath, and there is a small bathing area available for an additional charge (not expensive, but I don't see the point in it) for 5 euros for 40 minutes.
It's simply a bathtub, without any modifications, where you can sit together in a lukewarm (let's say comfortably warm) bath... I don't find much value in that.
By the way, there are public baths in the area!
- Delia (10/5): -
- jean louis (10/5): -
- Melissa (10/5): -
- Ashlee (8/5): Lovely and traditional accomodation and wpuld stay again! - Lovely staff, nice and quiet area.
Traditional style. Simple yet affordable breakfast Nothing.
- James (10/5): -
- Steve (10/5): - Charming traditional feel
- Adam (10/5): Lovely stay in Tokyo. - Friendly staff, rooms and property as described. Handy transport links.
- Giovanna (8/5): Traditional vibes in quiet residential area - loved the traditional Japanese feel; very quiet room; quiet residential area at walking distance from Asakusa; good subway connections futon-style bedding wasn't for us, but this is not to say it might not be comfortable for other guests!
- Veselin (10/5): -
- Patrice (8/5): It was ok but very tight quarters for two. - Staff very nice! American breakfast very good! Rooms so small .
- Stefanie (9/5): -
- Jesse (7/5): - Staff was beyond kind and helpful. Room was spacious for Tokyo. Our shower was covered in hair when we checked in. It was also the only place we stayed that did not have a bidet.
- Pamela (9/5): Gorgeous and well priced traditional machita style accommodation near Ueno - Beautiful traditional machita style accommodation with tatami mats and futons. Great bakery a few blocks away that we visited every morning right across from the lifts to Iriya station. Extremely well priced for the quality of the stay and experience. We wanted to be close to Ueno park for the cherry blossoms, playground and swan boats for the kids. It is walkable - about 20 mins with kids- but most days it was more convenient to catch the train. Nothing bad to say about the property itself.
- Lily (9/5): Comfy, friendly hotel in a peaceful part of Tokyo - Located in a really lovely part of Tokyo. If you don’t mind a 30 min flat walk, you can get to Senso Ji Shrine and Ueno Park by walking through quiet streets. It’s close to many stations. The room itself was lovely and the beds were so comfy! The hotel offers an eating area and other things like calligraphy class and luggage forwarding. The staff were very friendly too!
