Valet parking, at $15/night, was a bit off-putting, didn’t recall that being noted. Bar seemed nice but had no food option. Separate, unaffiliated restaurant with same name was pleasant and convenient for breakfast.
- rolandvS1002JP (10/5): Welcoming and Beautiful - The Oakhurst Inn is undoubtedly the Charlottesville hotel with the most attractive interior design. Everything about it was comfortable and artistic, and the front desk staff were welcoming and friendly. It is easily accessible from the train station and a short walk from the historic part of the University of Virginia grounds. It would be at the top of my list should I need a hotel room in Charlottesville again.

There's fireplaces in each building in a warm and inviting library. Complimentary coffee and tea in lobby and each library. And the Café, 5 Stars plus. Delicious!
- Daydream463603 (10/5): Wonderful hotel, quiet yet near everything - Wonderful to read by the fire in the semiprivate lounge just outside our room. Nice staff, lovely clean room, location is a quiet enclave yet walking distance to UVA, restaurants, attractions. We loved it!
- josephsJ3379IO (10/5): Peaceful comfort - I only stayed one night, but I wish it had been more. The staff were friendly, room was great, and the atmosphere was cozy. The coffee shop was very good food and the baristas/servers were very nice. The amenities were also very well done and the bar area was a great place to relax and unwind. The only bad thing was that the bathroom door was a little broken but that wasn’t a problem.

Upon arrival, I was overcharged for a weak, un-iced drink that was literally one sip, and that kind of set the tone for my stay. The room was freezing and they do not allow guests to manage the temperature, which made it feel cheap and overpriced. I kept feeling like it could have been so much nicer with a little effort, but it never achieved the boutique feel it was going for. I left with an overwhelming sense of disappointment for what it could be with better management. I would not stay again.

- SlowReads (10/5): Location, Facilities, Friendliness, & Location - The small complex of buildings that make up this hotel rests against the portion of the campus across from Cabell Hall. In about a six minute walk, I was on the Lawn. You can’t beat the location! It’s also a lovely hotel. Our room was large with a great bathroom with the biggest soaker tub I’ve ever seen. The main building is old, but very well renovated and kept up. The staff is extremely friendly and knowledgeable about the area. I would definitely stay here again..
- sammy1232018 (10/5): A perfect stay in Charlottesville with a pup - I stayed a single night at OakHurst Inn! The stay was absolutely lovely! The room was clean and extremely comfortable! I did bring my pup with me a large poodle who loved the outdoor sitting area and room! The inn is almost right on campus tons of students walk the path to get to classes and living quarters behind the inn. The truly nice thing about the inn is it almost feels remote from the city, several options to sit and relax in the green area. We were able to do a nice walk through the campus in the evening after visiting wineries and hiking the Saunders Monticello trail early that day. We will def return!

- jessiraum (10/5): STAY HERE!! - Absolutely stay here. I love Charlottesville, but even if I didn’t, I’d return just to stay at the Oakhurst again. The property itself is unique, cozy, and intimate - it feels like you’re staying at a friend’s house, if your friend was the best host ever. The back yard area is amazing, with the perfect sized pool (never had an issue finding a seat, there were usually only one or two groups out there at a time) and even a little personal sauna! The staff is some of the best I’ve ever encountered, from the bar staff (shoutout to my new best friend Derek) to the front desk to the delightful cafe staff - everyone goes out of their way to make your stay the best possible. The front desk staff even poured us drinks after the bartender had left for the night! There’s always self-serve coffee and water available, which was such a nice touch. I could go on and on. Truly a wonderful experience, thank you to everyone!

- Kiri (8/5): - Off season, this stay was nice. The room was large, with two sitting areas and 3 AC units. Quaint, with a historic feel and cute pool area and bar. Staff friendly and accommodating for dogs. Lots of green space for the pup. Their nearby cafe was a highlight for breakfast. A few amenities were a bit lackluster, the room type we booked was King but the bed was only Full even though the room itself (03) was large with the extra seating areas. No in room fridge. The most inconvenient is the parking situation. Its now mandatory valet, so getting in and out is slow. If youre on a relaxed timetable, its ok, but would have preferred just to park on the steet to have easy access to our car. They also park it under sap trees, so that leaves your car a mess.
- Andrea (10/5): - We appreciated our stay at Oakhurst Inn. The property is in a good location to the University and not far from downtown. Our room/bathroom was clean and the staff was very helpful. There is not much parking but they provide valet and on-street parking for you.
- Matt D. (10/5): Great Property w/ Pool - We were looking for a one-night stay in Charlottesville. It was hot so we basically filtered the search by location/having a pool. There was a nice looking bar and we had drinks by the pool. It was a bit of a walk to our building and our room was down a flight of stairs. They did offer to help with our bags. The parking is mandatory valet. Our building was like an old home with solid wood doors and old hardware. I hadn't used a real metal key in a hotel in quite a while but it was fine. It was quiet and there was a nice cafe/restaurant on the property. We only had coffee drinks and food to go but it was nice. The staff was very knowledable and friendly. I would recommend but be prepared that it's not your standard corporate chain, but that was nice for us.
- Jet03160346133 (10/5): Delightful inn - What a delightful surprise to find such a cozy place to stay! The room (especially the bed) was extremely comfortable. Parking was no problem with their valet service. There is a cafe just a short walk away for breakfast and lunch. In the main building there is a lobby bar. The first night that we stayed they had a “jazz and gin” evening. I would definitely stay here again if my travels take me to Charlottesville.

- BogFactor3 (8/5): Good location near the University - I booked a room at the Oakhurst for a weekend getaway. This inn is a collection of houses on a cul-de-sac well-located walking distance from UVA grounds and the Corner. The lobby and bar are a charming space. The pool is functional, but fairly small. The staff were very helpful and friendly. Hotels are usually expensive in Charlottesville. This is a non-traditional option with charm if you find it at the right price (i.e. less than any of the newer hotels in town). Two notes - parking is valet only (or street parking at your own risk). Second, there are a few rooms further away from the main buildings in a small house that houses the Inn's cafe (and located on JPA (a fairly busy street)). My room was directly above the coffee shop. The noise of the coffee shop was disruptive in the morning and I also did not enjoy being on a busy street in an out building not near the main Inn - especially coming back alone to that building at night. If you come visit, I'd recommend specifically asking for a room not in the cafe building.
- Timothy (8/5): - My wife and I stayed here for two nights for a little getaway weekend in Charlottesville. There is a lot of potential for this place, but it will take a little more effort from management. For example, both air conditioners leaked in our room, likely as a result of dirty filters. The first unit was fixed after we reported the issue, the second one started to leak during our second night. Fortunately, our belongings were fine so it wasn’t a big deal. The situation could have been worse though. The cafe is pretty good. Nice selection of creative foods. Easy walk to the attractions in Charlottesville. The pool was nice, but the sauna didn’t work. Just another small example of the missed potential here. There were no fridges in the rooms, although I knew this going in. This would seem to be another simple upgrade that would really improve the experience. Overall, though, the place was nice and I would stay there again.

Every employee we encountered was very friendly & helpful. In particular, Rachel went above & beyond to help us have an amazing vacation. Thank you for making my nephew’s 30th birthday an experience we will never forget. I highly recommend Oakhurst Inn to anyone planning a trip to Charlottesville.

Check-in, check-out and valet parking were easy and quick. All staff that we encountered were friendly and helpful. Our room was spacious, clean, and the blackout curtains were vital after a late night. I typically bring my own toiletries like shampoo/conditioner/body wash because not all hotels provide ones that are up to par, but I loved the ones provided at Oakhurst- everything smelled wonderful. We didn’t visit the cafe, but had local beers in the bar area before we ventured out for the concert at JPJ. With pre-event traffic, we decided to Uber to the arena (which was a short distance) but walked back to the Inn in an easy 20 minute walk. Would definitely recommend and would stay again!

Inn has separate buildings located around a cul-de-sac right off busy main thoroughfare. A local resident told us the Inn was originally UVA student housing which explains the “dorm-like “ feel of the room and sitting area. The renovated bathroom was well-done with a European vibe. Highlight was the Oakhurst Inn Cafe with amazing breakfast menu, easily walkable to separate building. Parking was “valet only” as location was in a busy area of the University.

- Colby (4/5): - This property feels tired. The bathroom needs updating. Absolutely do not plan to sleep on the pullout. Unlike other hotels which have gone to quite comfortable mattresses in their pullouts ours was terrible. We checked in at 2 am and the front desk took forever. At one point we needed an item for the room and the staff waited outside the room until we were finished using it. The proximity to UVA is great but there are better options.

- B2397MZrobertm (4/5): Cold shower water! - Quaint hotel that shows the challenges of renovating an old building — physical plant seems deficient. Had to leave early (4:30am) to catch a flight. Tried to take a shower before I left but the water was cold and never ran hot. When using the kettle plugged into one outlet, a light plugged into a second outlet dimmed, suggesting electrical problems. Otherwise bed was comfortable, staff friendly; just lacked an essential feature when I needed it: hot water!

- Michael (10/5): Gem of a boutique hotel - This is exactly the stay that I wanted to have. It was a business trip back to Charlottesville but I was looking forward to seeing the University and visiting my old law school. I wanted something intimate that didn't feel like a chain hotel. My actual experience surpassed even those expectations. The room was fantastic and felt like a home. It was quiet except for maybe the very low rumble the train every now and then in the distance. It was just footsteps from the edge of the university. They had great common areas and a very nice staff. If I have to go back I'm definitely staying here
- Lisa (6/5): - Our room was cold, so cold that we slept in sweaters. When I told the front desk, the response was: Yes that’s been a problem. When asking for a refund because my child was released from the hospital a day early, they said they couldn’t do that. Also charged me twice the cost of Expedia when I lengthened the stay due to not knowing when he would get out. Will not return to your property. Only stayed there because it was walking distance from the hospital.

- Diane (8/5): - Charming inn next to Univ. of VA. Sort of a rambling structure with multiple small buildings. Room was small, but well-decorated: wooden floors, minimalist but modern flavor. Nice shower; bed was a bit soft for my taste. Very quiet. On-site bar (lifeless) and cafe (good for brunches, coffee) are available. Inexpensive valet parking is available. Great location for access to college or downtown.
- 898krystalv (10/5): Rewarding Stay! - There's so much to write about this warm and friendly inn. We arrived a little late for our check-in, which was a breeze. Lauren helped my mother and I check-in, navigate the area, and welcomed us with generous smiles. She helped us carry in our baggage and offered us anything we needed. The reason for my visit was to have my dog operated on the very next morning. Lauren greeted both of my dogs with care. The room had everything we needed sans a fridge and a microwave but they kept my dogs food in a refrigerator and helped us with water and sodas. She brought an extra dog bed and another set of dishes for their food and water. She also handed us goodie bags for both pups that had doggie bags, tennis balls, treats and a welcome card for both of them! The room was very clean. I didn't mind walking barefoot at all. Big ups for cleanliness! I didn't notice the creaky floors but I have hardwood floors at home so I guess I'm used to it. The next morning after I took my baby to be operated on, Jaidon brought 2 more fido bags with special cards wishing my baby a successful surgery and how loved they both were. The bags included treats as well. Superb thoughtfulness that made me feel so cared for. I needed the comfort, extra attention to detail, and the generosity both of these ladies exhibited since it was such a nerve-wracking time for me. We had breakfast (to go) from the Cafe and it was great. The only problem I had was all the stairs finding it but I got my workout! All in all, I'm happy I chose Oakhurst Inn for our stay. All the other hotels had pet restrictions and when you called them, you weren't talking with someone located at the establishment. I prefer the down home charm Oakhurst and it's lovely employees had to offer. Their care was immensely enjoyed and the the thoughtful respect they offered made me and my girls feel right at home. Something to also note, I felt incredibly safe here. Thank you Oakhurst Inn for giving me the best stay possible. Until next time and there will be a next time!

- kkeen27 (10/5): The only place to stay in Cville - My husband and I have stayed in Charlottesville many times over the years and only wish we had found this place sooner! The inn is the most warm, welcoming, charming, convenient place you could ever hope to stay. The rooms are fabulous, the bed is very comfy but the true charm is in the living room downtowns. There’s a wood burning fire and bartender that create the perfect cozy area to relax. There’s even a pool! We waked a few steps to have breakfast at the Oakhurst Cafe and it was fabulous. The staff go above and beyond to make sure you have the best stay possible. We will only stay here from now on!

There's a cafe and the little cul-de-sac if you want to go have a meal. A nice lounge area and bar. The pool works beautiful. We just were there at the wrong time of year. The Inn accommodated my request for a first floor room as we were traveling with my 83 year old mom. I accidentally left my watch charger and the Inn promptly called me after checking out to notify me. Highly recommend the Oakhurst Inn!

The only “ding” we had was the vacuum cleaner running at 8:30 am after the people staying in the room above us left. Prefer to have a little more peaceful time on a Saturday morning.

Staff was very courteous and helpful and on site 24-7. Furniture was darling and just perfect Hardwood floors with a rug. Nice bedside table lighting. Curtains for the windows. Crisp clean sheet and own thermostat with fan in room. Plenty of electrical outlets and desk. Large bathroom with super clean floor, pedestal sink, and large shower with great water pressure. Truly a hidden gem this place.
- Sarah (10/5): Charming Charlottesville Inn - A quaint inn that exudes a traditional warmth and charm. Our room was large and the bathroom was spacious and beautifully appointed. The staff was kind and helpful and the inn's cosy cafe had food so good I'd return just to eat there again. The bathroom was not as clean as I would like but my husband didn't notice so some of us are more particular than others. Don't let that negative keep you from staying at Oakhurst Inn as it really is lovely. Oh, and maybe bring earplugs if you're a light sleeper.

Room was comfortable and very clean, but sparsely furnished in the bedroom. Nowhere to sit in that room other than on the bed or two stools in the corners. A lot of stairs to navigate throughout the property. Parking was very challenging and difficult to navigate. Absolutely loved the cafe. Best breakfast in C’ville! Staff was very helpful. Floors do creak a lot, but lends to the character.

When I checked out early in the morning Wendy was delightful. She insisted that I drink a cup of coffee and stay a few more minutes. She knew I needed that more than I did. I would definitely go back again.

- Verified traveler (2/5): Really Disappointed - I have been wanting to stay here for some time as the website makes it look charming. Unfortunately, the photos don’t show the abysmal conditions in the bathroom (really gross mold situation in grout of shower and shower curtain stained with evidence of the Serratia marcescens (pink staining) bacteria. The bed frame was incredibly dusty (like looked like it had never been vacuumed) and I am not a high maintenance guest AT ALL. The service was really poor too both with check in and check out and when I mentioned the conditions of the room at check out (giving the benefit of the doubt that this one room was an oversight and that they would want to know), all the staff member said was “did you park in the parking lot?” Which he then mentioned was an additional $15 (not mentioned in check in!) Wow! So disappointed and we are frequent visitors to Charlottesville.
