• Jamie (2/5): - Should have checked the recent reviews. This section of the island is in strife with Electricity and Gas being switched off and the locals of the Cove living off generators or just leaving the island. It’s a sad situation for them. Most of the features listed in the booking ad were not in use. - No Cafe - No Watersports - No Fitness Centre - No Park - No Bowls - Only 1 place to eat with very limited choice - worse of all, the pool was not in use. We were told that the pool was out of order only 24 hours prior meaning there was no time to notify us. We were able to later find out from a local that the pool was out of use for a week and they believe it will not come back into use and that this was the beginning of the end. Many of the units there are up for sale and there are regular break ins caused by Drug issues. We tried to leave on the same day only to find out the 4.30pm Ferry was not on that day (Saturday) then left the next day. We just got our refund. The only restaurant shut at 7.30pm and we were in the room by 7.15pm counting down the hours to leave. Even though there seemed to be wifi, it wouldn’t connect. I asked one of the kitchen stuff about this and he said, “I thought there was never any wifi” The next morning the next morning the Ferry was an hour late. We noticed distress from another person who was going to miss a flight. This once beautiful resort is now a run down waste ground of what is used to be. It can’t have long left at this rate.
• Steve (2/5): - All the facilities were closed. Staff did not know much. It was so bad we asked Expedia to move us. Couldnt get food. Couldnt do anything as nothing was open. Walking tracks closed. It was awful
• Allan (6/5): - The resort was in a very dilapidated condition.
• Madeleine (2/5): - I honestly don’t really know where to start. Firstly, the facilities are abandoned. Not rundown, but abandoned. There were rusty spikes in the children’s playground. There was poo all over the pool (which the ducks loved using). In the first apartment we were in, there was black mould on lamps and the toilet didn’t work. We asked for a (paid) upgrade and the new place was better, until I discovered mould on one of the pull out mattresses. There was almost no food options. There was no communication from staff about availability of food or facilities. We had to wait twenty minutes for service at the bar (while watching a bartender stack wine glasses) to be told that what we wanted was unavailable. No fresh fruit on the island, and ludicrously expensive for what was there (think $4 for a single serve of weetbix). We left two days early. The receptionist didn’t care that we were leaving early, she just wanted to be rid of us. If you’re thinking about going, keep in mind that it isn’t just old fashioned facilities that are a bit aged. These facilities are like Pripyat on the goldy, or like what happens when millionaires discard their expensive assets but still allow foolish patrons to book thinking that ‘it couldn’t possibly be that bad’. It’s bad - trust me.
• Claire (8/5): - We liked that the property had great pool options for young and older guests. Main resort area and accomodation was wheelchair friendly however of three wheelchair toilets, only one was open. The room was clean and big, however no housekeeping and no wifi. Ferry driver Matt was nice and helpful. Rundown and unkempt facilities, only one place to dine for dinner with tiny & pricey menu with desserts listed but not available for the whole stay, broken hire equipment with long wait periods for some items, staff available were nice but VERY understaffed, long waits for takeaway lunch (30 minutes just in queue), no information or communication on how to hire equipment or extra activities - had to seek this out ourselves, no access to activities listed on website such as massage, buffet, spa and more.
• Kimberley (4/5): - Be prepared for this to be the most expensive crap hole you’ve stayed at. The resort is seriously falling apart around you - paths in disrepair, rotten wooden railings, rusty bikes, kayaks with holes. The cabin we stayed in the flames from the gas cook top kept going out so needed a watchful eye to make sure we didn’t get gassed out. Rust marks on the sheets. Water damaged floors. The photos do not match the reality. The meal prices are exorbitant for the quality you actually receive, the wait times for ordering meals and drinks can reach anywhere up to 30 minutes just to order and then 30-45 minutes for the food to arrive. They did not have any desserts listed on the menu, only ice creams ($5 for a paddle pop) Cans of soft drink are $5. Coffee lines in the morning were ridiculous, with only one staff member taking the orders and making the coffee. Be prepared and Take your own snacks and drinks - ignore the rule of not taking your own alcohol, they don’t seem to really care. We did have the experience of watching influencers the resort had hired for advertising opportunities, Take cash as they charge $1 every time you use eftpos. Don’t bother tipping. Service is not worth it.

• Hayden (4/5): - The area is beautiful, nice contact with nature , but the facilities are all run down, staff were rude and unhelpful , specially receptionist , amenities broken in the room, room dirty. This place has potential but needs to be looked after. No activities for kids. No transport offered to and from the room, no biggies to be rented out. Seu difficult to get around with kids .
• Anna (8/5): - I had read previous visitor reviews, so I was expecting facilities to be not maintained and aged. When I arrived I was pleassantly surprised. The resort offered a budget resort style experience that we loved. It was easy going and great for kids. Our one bedroom lagoon view apartment was a generous size and clean, although the kitchenette was very small and difficult to cook in due to the minimal benchspace for food prep. We didnt eat at the restaurants because we had been advised that vegetarian options were low so we brought all our food with us. The pool was fabulous! Kids loved it. And the bike hire allowed us to explore the island areas on sealed roads without cars or traffic. Overall, It felt like a relaxed, easy going holiday in a SE Asian resort back in the early 2000's - I loved it!!
• Roberto Vieira (2/5): - Apartment was terrible dirty with dead cockroaches in the cutlery drawer and their feces all over the place. The dining table is in the balcony and was full of birds pup as well. The property and facilities are outdated and useless. The restaurant is short on offering and there’s only one working the others are closed permanently Going to the beach is an adventure as there’s no transportation or pram or wheelchair possible way to get there I can keep going…
• Deborah (8/5): - The property is very unique, we had a wonderful stay. The staff were super friendly - especially Lorana - they had some great bars, stunning setting, lovely wildlife with friendly kangaroos and a relaxed atmoshere. Parts of the resort could do with a bit of love, but the great atmosphere made up for that. Some lovely bush walks as well.

• Jodie (2/5): Disappointed - Didn’t actually stay here due to us not being aware that you can only reach this place by boat (at your own cost) and that water taxis don’t run at night. There was also no safe place to leave your car.
• Mi (8/5): - Would have been absolutely amazing when it first opened. Loved being able to cycle anywhere, the staff were incredibly friendly and the amenities that were still open were great. The downside is the ferry/taxi cost in getting there if you don’t have your own boat and you’re basically stuck with what you brought (the convenience store is just a few shelves and mostly closed) or their menu. Will also have to remember to stay indoors at dusk next time as the mozzies were plague proportions - but we still want to go again :)
• Leanne (6/5): - Everything is rundown. Choice of food is limited. Also no gluten free options. Staff weren’t helpful, just doing minimum work. When we researched how much it was to buy a unit and saw that body corp is $218/wk there is no reason for the resort and facilities being so rundown.
• Tracey (10/5): - The staff were so helpful right from the beginning...rebooked our Ferry for us when we wanted to change the time and let us have a late check out for a very good price. The unit was stayed in was lovely and spacious, beautifully decorated and clean. Great balcony and lovely water views. My daughter absolutely loved the amenities..bike hire was great cos we could explore the island and see the surf beach. Only minuses: walls are very thin so you can hear neighbours a bit too easily...fortunately though, we had very quiet neighbours. Also, I recommend putting a non-slip mat in bath...I slipped when getting out and have a big bruise on knee from hitting it on the sharp outer edge of bath.
• Nicole (4/5): Severely run down - Broken toilet seat and really dusty. Bedding requests apparently never received so kids weren’t happy. Extremely understaffed. Staff were trying their best but just can’t cope. Overcharged for a whole room. Direct phone number is disconnected
• Cheryl (8/5): Rooms nice but service lacking - The room was clean and nice but we found the staff lacking. The reception was confusing and gave us 3 different prices for a boat berth. The bar staff were inexperienced with cocktails not tasting at all like they should. The restaurant forgot our booking even though we called a couple of times to add people. The outside of the buildings looked dirty and needed cleaning. We got locked out of our room as the lock on our door broke and when we complained were told they are old.

If you are looking for a great relaxing holiday to get away from it all so close to the Gold Coast, then you should definitely visit. Wh thoroughly enjoyed our stay
• Linda (6/5): - Property is uniquely located. Place was full of guests and only one place to eat on a Saturday night - food choices were minimal. We ordered to eat in and they brought out takeaway so we did - but no condiments for the dishes. Cafe was shut, pizza oven not working and quite obviously the place was well understaffed for the volume of guests.
• Cherie (8/5): - Ok the staff were absolutely amazing. Very friendly and very helpful. We had to wait 1.5 hours for the room to be ready after I was told it would be ready by the time we arrived at 1pm only to find when we got to the room which we were charge for the buggy to take us to the room that was 1.5km away from reception we couldn’t get in as the key was wrong. The other door wasn’t even locked. The Eco cabin was still dirty. The fans were disgusting. Dust on ledges, dirt on walls, the toilet kept running- had to double tap for it to stop. Only one toilet roll was left for 5 ladies for 3 days. No broom or mop to keep the floors clean. To lock one door we had to use a broom handle in the tracks. Up around reception and pool area was all lovely and clean, tidy but once you get down when we were staying it was very run down which was disappointing after the price we paid to stay. We walked over to surf beach/ club on the beach only to find it was closed for renovations and that was a 1.2 km walk. Sunset bar was absolutely amazing and the guy behind the bar was awesome. I would of loved to of seen this place 5 years ago. $70 to take an esky over and back is pretty bloody expensive if you ask me.
• Leanne (4/5): - The island is superb, very tranquil. The concept of the property is fantastic & it has so much potential however the way the property is being managed is extremely disappointing.
• Rebecca (6/5): - The cabins had a lovely outlook but there were minimal staff (severely understaffed), out of stock of many things, limited choice for dining, facilities were shockingly rundown, ferry was old, surf club closed down and dilapidated and nothing looked like it was depicted on the website.

• Karlan (8/5): - A relaxing and almost ‘Glamping’ experience. The boat ride and accomodation by the water makes it a different experience to a hotel stay and with the added wallabies, birds & ducks it’s a great way to be close to nature. For a very wet weekend it was wonderful that the balconies keep the rain out so you can really sit and enjoy the elements. It’s not a fancy a high class resort as some reviewers sounded like they expected, but as I said, an almost Glaming experience/ great way to enjoy some nature without needing anything but your personal items. Can’t wait to go back and explore the island and enjoy the water activities on a sunny weekend!
• TONY (6/5): - There was only 2 rolls of toilet paper in a 2 bathroom House. The house was very dirty. None of the outside verandah lights worked so you couldnt sit outside at night. The security guys were amazing and very helpful.

The staff on board were unfortunately not at all and this was our first experience at facility , Sunset bar was dirtly , closed early , we got there at 620pm and stupid with the prices , totally overpriced and sells cheap wine expensively , this was not good , The pool area was great with great staff and activeties - well worth spening time there . The sports place really needs to be smashed down as unsafe and in such poor condition , puts a stain on the experience of the weekend . Walks were good , however evenings the games room closes early - and the cost are expensive for what is offered , place can do much better is staff have a better understanding of the Island and wildlife as they dont mention anything and one had to find out ones' self . Overall would go back to the Island as was peaceful and has so so much potential

Don't even have a phone in the room so don't expect any room service. You need to clean your own dishes and rubbish bin and pay if you need extra towels.

• Sharon (6/5): - Staff are nice but overall the entire Couran Cove resort is very rundown. Accomodation was clean but smelled musty/ damp. Wifi is not available on the island (despite being advertised on Wotif). Main Restaurant closes on Mondays and Tuesdays (which is not mentioned on Wotif) but basic snacks/meals are available from small cafe and pool bar.
• Kevin (8/5): - The accommodation is run down but ok for what we paid. The food was excellent and pool was great. Beautiful surroundings and nice and quiet.
• Marg (4/5): Very run down. worst breakfast ever. - We went for the weekend with another couple, I booked the rooms together but we were put in rooms not at all near each other.' Our room had a disabled bathroom therefore had no shower screen which meant the bathroom floor got very wet as well as the bath mat. I of the chairs on the balcony was broken. TV remoate was flat. Only 1 place to get any dinner from. We had breakfast there on Sunday morning and it was the worst cooked breakfast ever. We asked for soft poached eggs, they were hard, the toast was hard, the sausages and mushroom were overcooked and dry. The resort is very run down to how it used to be, alot of trip hazzards which is dangerous.

Options for pool bar advertised aren’t even there to buy and the areas shut early as does the general store. There are some questionable residents on the island too.

But not much of a food options at the resort. Pizza at the restaurant/ bar at the pools it's only options. If you looking for peace and quiet and maybe small stroll to the beach for change of scenery, that might work for you.

I found the room more then big enough for one, and I enjoyed taking long baths in the deep bath tubs. There is vacant beach for miles but there are no flag areas so you have to be careful and at least know how to identify a rip. In the afternoons I would ride to the sunset beach and if the weather allowed watched the sunset. I saw a bunch of wallabies every single day and it was fantastic
• Verified traveler (10/5): - Hidden gem this place!! Was so much fun riding the bikes around the island especially to the beautiful beach! Definitely worth visiting. Make sure u take an esky though with drinks and snacks /food the store is very limited and pricey. Food in the restaurant was 10/10 though!

Obviously things will have been difficult during the pandemic so hopefully it will get back to looking how it did years ago when I was there last.

It is still a great place to go with family if you want to chill at the nearby beaches and get off the grid. Simple things like salt and pepper aren't filled, decks don't have the bird excrement cleaned and there is no room service and the threat of a $50 cleaning fee if any dishes are left uncleaned. I was unable to connect to the wifi even once, there is no cell reception and no wired telephone.

• Verified traveler (4/5): - The villa was roomy and has aircon in each room but was not vey clean (has mould on curtains and blinds). It is located not far from the facilities (restaurant and swimming pool, etc). However, the food service in the restaurant was very poor. They did not have many items on the menu and when we did order a meal, we were told a hour after the order that they have run out of the steaks. Children’s meal took over an hour to be served and that is only because we complained. The manager just made an excuse that the Kitchen lost our order but no replacement meals arrived. We had to call him again and all we got was kids meals but they run out of adult meals. He then disappeared from the venue as most of the customers were asking fir their meals which never arrived. Very poor management. We will never ever go back to Couran Cove Resort.
• Verified traveler (6/5): Would have been great if - Was good, we enjoyed swimming in the pool, kayaking, bike riding, etc. but opening hours were too short, closing too early and only one restaurant was available for dinner. Would have been great if the rooms were clean (didn’t feel comfortable especially when we are experiencing COVID).

• Verified traveler (6/5): - Upon our arrival the reception was poor, went to the bar for a drink three staff busy talking amongst themselves, had to ask to be served seemed uninterested in there job. Finally arrived at our accomodation. Reasonable but inadequate facilities eg two toilet rolls, one tea towel, two garbage bags etc. unit needs work. Had a meal at the restaurant on the Wednesday staff completely different interesting couldn’t be more helpful, jovial and just great, made the evening. Irish maître de great. Meals quite good. Overall would not go back. The resort needs some maintenance and perhaps a tidy up, rubbish bins to be emptied when full not left overflowing around boardwalk. The $50 fee per person for boat trip to resort should be reduced for those staying at the resort, far too expensive. Overall enjoyed our time with our friends and family but would not do it again. One last point try ringing the resort on the numbers given. Impossible to talk to anyone. All you get is a recorded message saying they will ring you back. Never happens. Very very frustrating. • Tracey (6/5): - It's such a shame that this place has been left to run down. So many facilities not functioning. However, it is a great holiday if you go with the right expectations. We came with enough food for the week as we were unsure what was open with COVID/had read some of the other reviews. Kids had a great time on what was available to do. Adults had a great time relaxing from work and catching up. And for us, that was what the holiday was about.

A few things need to me worked on like some upgrading on kids pool unfortunatley my 12 yr old ended up with an injury due to sharp object in the pool.. Resort needs a little more tlc but overall a beautiful place.. The lady int he cafe near reception is a credit to the resort such an awesome chic!!

• kerry (4/5): - The place was so run down. Grounds disgraceful & unkept. Pool was nice. Overpriced food & rooms need fixing. Our toilet seat was broken & the air conditioner dripped on my head all night. Bikes were free but weren’t told at time of check in so we walked miles to the beach when we could have ridden. You can’t contact anyone as no phones. The main phone line to the resort is cut off. Staff say it’s in the mainland & manager said it rings to overseas??? You have to email & it takes ages for them to report. Staff look like careless backpackers who don’t give a damn. Nice but untrained. Our security guy went beyond, deliver our luggage & took us to our pick up point beyond his normal boundaries which was lovely. We had a relaxing time but would not stay there again 😥
• Paul (4/5): - Very sad to see this resort so run down since our previous stay a few years ago. So many things unavailable, not open or in disrepair. Between the two restaurants we only ate at one as the poolside restaurant wasn’t open for dinner and for lunch they weren’t offering the full poolside menu. The staff however were wonderful, even though it was a skeleton staff working we felt they were doing their best under the circumstances which are out of their control. Our actual accommodation was clean and we located over the lagoon. Transport to and from the resort is tricky. If you catch the ferry from Main Beach the problem is finding secure parking. We ended up catching a Cove Water Taxi for our family from Sanctuary Cove. There is free parking there with on-site security. This was by far the better option. Quicker travel and comparative cost to ferry. Definitely bring your own food, we’re lucky we did with the very limited options available at the resort and the general store prices there ridiculously high. The main restaurant food was lovely but the lunch and dinner menu is the same. Also, members of our party had to wait an hour and a half for their dinner on the first night. We ended up booking tables early and ordering as soon as we arrived to avoid the wait especially as we have young kids with us.
• Anon. (4/5): - Please take your own food. Having stayed here years ago this fabulous resort has been left to go to rack and ruin. There is no direction to staff, no visible manager and the staff just do as they please. Off peak the eateries open advocate and you never know which one will open and at what times. Sports facilities are also only open when the staff feel like it. Safety is a very big issue given the run down nature of place. It’s an OHS disaster waiting to happen.for what is an absolutely gorgeous location with what we’re fabulous facilities, it was a huge disappointment for us to see it in such disrepair.
• Amie (4/5): - Ecolod On arrival, we were extremely disappointed by the condition of our ecolodge. Having been advised that the resort had been closed for eight months, it looked and smelt like it had not been aired or given a thorough clean. There was a dead fly in the bedding left on the sofa bed for the fifth person. Furthermore there were bed bugs in the bedding. The drain hole in the shower was broken. When the fan in the shower was turned on it sounded like the apocalypse was upon us. The toilet flush stuck and the water ran and by day two it started leaking. The kettle did not work. For a stay of three nights for five people, the amenities included were one tiny bottle each of shampoo and conditioner and two tiny wrapped up circular soap bars. House keeping did provide a working kettle and more soap on day two, however with no internal telephone service to reception and the external telephone message bank being full, every request had to be put in person which involved a hike up to the reception. For a resort on an island, it was disappointing that milk in any form (creamer, long life) for tea/coffee was not provided. The drawers in the kitchen were filthy, in particular the cutlery drawer and anything that we used has to be scrubbed clean and almost sterilised before use. The website advertised many dining options. Imagine our dismay when we arrived to find out that nothing was open on the 1st of October except the little shop which sold limited stock at extremely high mark ups.

There was no indication on the website that half (or more) of the amenities were not functioning at capacity (or even at all). We have all been through COVID but it really can't be the excuse for not informing people that they'll be no groceries available and a very limited ONE cafe! The surroundings are beautiful but charging top dollar for a stay is really pushing their luck. I would not recommend it for the prices charged.
• Patrick (2/5): - The room we were in said it had a bath tub and didn’t , after having a shower the water didn’t go down the drain holes so every time we went toilet we were walking threw water all over the bathroom floor , once told management and there reply was oh sorry that’s a shame , no refund or even a mop on the island that we could use to dry the floor. 3 of the bars that are advertised on the map were closed , the jet ski and speed boat tours weren’t running out of Couran cove, the barramundi was served 3/4 raw, bars and restaurant closed at 8 so no night life activity’s to do after 8pm, very poorly managed island I couldn’t wait to leave
• Annie (6/5): - Beautiful setting. The resort needs money spent on it and a good clean. The staff are friendly and were very apologetic about things. Seems to be very poorly managed at the moment. I do hope they can get back on their feet. Would go back as the natural surrounds are just amazing with plenty of wildlife around and fun fur kids.
• Sophia (8/5): Beautiful location, poor service and facilities - The location and activities are amazing, but the service and overall running of the resort is super disappointing. We arrived on the island early at 11am Friday morning and left our bags at reception for a 2:30pm check in. We picked up our bikes which came with the room and rode to the other side of the resort to explore the surrounds and beach which was beautiful. We weren’t however told the first time that our bikes had locks (they were subsequently taken by other guests). We came back later than check in time at 3:15pm and told our room was still not ready, and we would be called when it was. An hour later and we were quite disappointed but eager to get to the room, and requested a late check out on Monday for the inconvenience. (This was never noted and it was another ordeal to get our late check out on the day). The pool bar drinks pricing is a whole other thing; you pay a flat fee of $9 per drink no matter what you get?? Coke $9 beer $9 lemon lime bitters with or without alcohol still $9!! Some days they made the soft drink cheaper and others they didn’t. The resort itself is very run down and a lot needs to be done to fix it up, the soccer nets are broken, the putt putt course is overgrown, the oars for the canoes are half missing and all of the kitchen utensils are really old and used. Not to mention half of the facilities are closed or nonfunctional. Made the most of it and had fun with friends, will camp somewhere next time though!
• Donna (4/5): - I have been to The resort many times over the years and have always advocated it with friends. We enjoyed our stay, however, Unfortunately this time I was disappointed as their was a lot of maintenance required. From checkin where the reception is now messily placed in the cafe/shop, receptionist was sour and there was no provision for Safe storage of luggage, to the room which is in much need of proper cleaning and repairs, to the morning of checkout where we had no water at all to the room due to general maintenance, no advices provided that water would be turned off and could not advise when it would be back on, we had to leave without being able to have showers, most disappointing. Such a gorgeous resort and setting where I have had many wonderful holidays, it is most unfortunate that it feels so miss managed at the moment.
• Gretel (10/5): - We stayed here for 3 nights and 4 days- in and Interconnecting family room. - we loved it, it was so spacious and the balcony overlooking the water. When we arrived our rooms were ready to check in. The kids and adults enjoyed the biking, sports activities and water activities. It’s so much fun here. We would like to come back. Our water taxis are on time and so friendly.

• Marian (6/5): - This property is great if you want peace and quiet. There is really nothing to do here except swim in the pool. The rooms are a long way from reception, cafe, restaurant and pool. The weather was awful when we were here and there are no covered walkways to get to any of the above.

He was very client focussed, professional and polite. Overall we had a good time, apartment was spacious and clean
