Guest Reviews
- Inge (4/5): Rengøring - Noget slidt hotel, rengøring incl tømning af toiletspand kun hver 2. dag.
- demetriod393 (2/5): Delusion - The location looking on Kantiang bay and the Blue Sea Is unbeatable a dreams , the bungalows perchéd over the hill are really nice , the pool with small elephant shaped fountain is very tempting but.. but the resort Is literally going into pieces, the shower didn't work anda was always cold, the stick of the curtain broke the first day and dell' upon us the last 2 days our room wasn't kept by anyone and we complained we had dirty towels and the basket full of garbage , the result was that when we came back from the pool I couldn't find anymore 2 bags of my drugs that are essenrial tò me, they had mistaken them for garbage! And let the garbage in the basket so my friend got very angry with all the staff , last day at breakfast we were 4 tables , After our order we had to wait an hour for 2 omelettes, 2 mango juices and 2 plates of fruit end of the story don' t come here we don' t advice it
- ycex34 (4/5): Cheap price but with many problems - Cheap price but with many problems.
Bathroom has two large spiders.
Very poor in-room lighting. The room appears to be a dungeon at night time.
Wi-Fi stops every 5-15 minutes.
Shower has no hot water. Switched to another room for shower and the temperature is not warm either, just merely acceptable.
Staff is nice though and can speak limited English though.
- lindsand (4/5): Lots of smiles, but chaotic experience. - This is our 3rd visit to this hotel and, unfortunately, the worst. The room by the pool was sizeable, but not very clean, and the bed was very, very hard. I think it was missing the mattress! We had to wait for ages to check in as they could not find our booking (Booking.com). Then we had to wait another hour because they had lost the key..
Breakfast was slow, cold and not very nice. We were advised by Booking.com that we had not turned up, but would still be charged. Reception said ' no problem, we will tell booking.com'. We paid and now find we have also been charged the same amount on credit card as a 'no-show'.
Never again!
- Mrlee321 (8/5): Lovely Setting - After reading some reviews we were worried that we’d chosen a place unsuitable however, we needn’t have worried. Perfect location, lovely rooms (albeit needing a bit of maintenance), great pool nice n cold to cool you down. Staff very friendly and efficient. Why not bar a short walk away was great in the evening. Very relaxing!
- BCakes15 (2/5): Ruined our stay in Koh Lanta - Worst hotel experience we've honestly ever had. Our air con broke one night into our stay so the room was a sweat box. We had a total of 6 people come in to our room to confirm it was broken, they said they could offer another room to so we packed up our stuff ready to move then they retracted the offer saying they had no room availability. It was only when I asked for a refund for the rest of our stay that they then miraculously found a spare room for us to spend 1 night in and called out someone to fix the air con in our existing room.
But the hilarious thing was that we went to the other room they offered up and there was a guy in there fixing the air con there too as it was also broken.
We completely understand that these things happen with technology however the staff were lacking ownership of the issue and made us feel as though we were being difficult.
Despite Koh Lanta being a beautiful island, the stay here had put a cloud over our holiday experience with all the stress of being hot and bothered, packing and unpacking and trying to ensure the issue was resolved so we could sleep comfortably.

Honestly such a shame as it's tainted our holiday experience with all the stress of being hot and bothered, packing and unpacking and trying to ensure the issue was resolved so we could sleep comfortably.
- gastronaut_11 (4/5): Not for us ! - It is set into a hill and there are numerous stairs, which is not ideal. The CABINS are dark and unwelcoming. The lighting is poor. Our fridge had not been defrosted for at least 2 years, thus making ice inoperable, until I chipped away the ice ! The bed was strangely situated, climbing over ones partner is not always welcome, just to get to one side of the bed! It is definitely a Muslim run facility, so food was basic, especially breakfast. A hot shower would have been most welcome. Pool is nicely chilled, but again very dark. We would not go back again.
Air conditioning was good.
No feedback of our stay requested, just goodbye!
Bellboy did a great job with our luggage, as there was no way we could carry it up the stairs......
- SergioPQ (6/5): Good hotel with a miserable and catastrophic breakfast - To start with the fotos of the hotel are showing well what you get for your money: a nice old style house which looks really fine from ourside. The pool is magnificent and the overall location is really good. The view to the ocean and food selection in the vicinity also good. Kantiang beach is one of the best beaches in the proximity on the whole of Koh Lanta. Nui Beach is reachable on food in around 15 minutes. All the beaches to the north of Kantian were too flat for me, i.e. without any mountains and perhaps also too crowded.
What I didn't like:
1) Even though the rooms are of wood, many thanks did not really work: TV, water boiler and safe were all not working. The good thing about the staff: they did really resolve all these problems by buying really articles. It would be perfect however to check in advance. Well, this point is not really critical.
2) The breakfast is a catastrophy: you get a menu with a select of 4 or 5 sets - all of them really very miserable for Thailand. It is a pure disaster:in all our hotels in Thailand in the last 6 years the breakfast was better. The current select is a joke, just take a look at the attached pictures and pay a special attention to additional payment for ANY additional order.
Even the coffee is an instant coffee which is served in the morning - a no go.
In general, I woud not come back as long as the breakfast stays the same. It as simply too bad compared to all other hotels.
- GriffF20 (6/5): Peaceful - The location is very peaceful if you want to completely chill out, it’s quite far from most places. For me the room was really dark & was needing a little TLC - holes in mosquito net, tap was wobbling whenever touched.. but the staff are really friendly and breakfast was ok.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - ... ziemlich runtergekommen, überteuert... Ausstattung und Pool war gut...
- severine_andre (10/5): Lovely hotel in an amazing area - We spent five lovely and relaxing days at the Baan Laanta Resort. Our bungalow was spacious, comfortable and clean and had a wonderful view on the Kantiang Bay. The swimming pool adds a refreshing touch to the peaceful atmosphere. Food at the restaurant was excellent and the bar serves exquisite cocktails. Staff is very friendly and helpful.
- Michael (10/5): Super chill - Very relaxing area. The beach is not crowded or over run with full mooners. The people running the place are so nice and the message at this place is great.
- timebes (10/5): Sumptuosity in the Shade by the Sea - Soooo good!
We came ashore from our sailboat to get lunch from the restaurant that was most recommended by lonely planet. But that place was alongside a noisy road with the perfume of diesel and septic wafting around.
So we went back to the beach and got a table at the Thai rustic Baan Laanta Resort deck, with overhanging ficus giving us wonderful shade and cool breeze.
Bottom line: all six of us were thrilled with our dishes, served sizzling by a staff of no fewer than three Muslim women. (So no pork on the menu.)
A fine fully-stocked bar is right next to the restaurant.
Check the photos. It’s beautifully, delicious Lee, exotic!
- LDKay (8/5): Lovely! - Hi! Baan Laanta Resort and Spa was lovely. Rooms are gorgeous and extremely clean. Mattresses clean and very comfortable. The service was impeccable. Staff were professional and would do anything possible for your comfort and pleasure. Bar and restaurant on premises. Bar is fully stocked and can make anything to order plus have a large menu. Restaurant was yummy and safe with a wide variety to choses from. Sits right on the beach which was never crowded. Pool is clean and refreshing. Spa is amazing, don't miss the Thai massage, the best ever. They can arrange elephant encounters at the desk. Encounter is a 10 minute drive. A few stores and vendors just outside the entrance to the facility. We would go back!
- Romy (8/5): Lovely stay at Baan Lanta - We had a lovely stay at Baan Lanta. The area is beautiful, and the individual bungalows on the resort were really attractively set around the pool. The staff were all fantastic and so helpful every time we needed anything. My only issue was that the bed was initially far too firm for me (I’m sure it wouldn’t be forothers though) and gave me back ache the first night. But they immediately re-made the bed with extra padding underneath the sheet, and I was very comfortable thereafter. They also offered me a free massage too! I also did a padi open water course with scuba fish just up the toad, and the resort was incredibly convenient located for this (I just walked along the beach to the jetty every morning, around a 4 minute stroll, avoiding a pick up and drive). Thank you Baan Lanta for a lovely stay!
- Kileysan (8/5): Nice view and location - The hotel is well located by the beach and closed to many restaurants on the street side. However coming in the low is not the best for that area. Many things are barely opened. Breakfast can choose from the menu with a different choice of set, don’t except big portions but quality is acceptable. Rooms are spacious (no option for twin bed) and well arranged, although could pay a bit more attention to cleaning since it is easy to get insects inside (many small ants and spiders). Beside staff was smiling and helpful when needed. Nice swimming pool to cool when the sea is too strong. Good place if you are looking for nature and calm but don’t except a 4 stars with high standards there.
- Q8669PCsarahc (10/5): Great location, beautiful rooms - If you want to stay more on the southern part of Koh Lanta, this is the place to stay. Staff are incredibly friendly, rooms are neat and clean and have a very 'traditional Thai' feel. Clean pool with cool water (refreshing when it's hot and the ocean is too). GREAT food and cocktails (we ordered fruit cocktails without the syrup). Rented scooters for 200THB, very comparable to other companies around and highly recommend to go down and check out the national Park.
Highly recommend this accommodation.
- Jelena (8/5): Romantic beach - I liked authentic design of bungalows, it was also spacious and luxurious, looking beautiful. Beach is charming - there are few restaurants right on the beach with tables in sand, in evening it becomes quite romantic
- aurinkoaetsimassa (8/5): Exotic stay - +beautiful hotel area and amazing view from restaurant
+peaceful area, which was our favourite, comparing other parts of the island
+bungalow very pretty
+service and restaurant good
-2 cockroach spotted at night in bungalow
-almost no sun at the pool area, but hotel at the beach :)
- rolft566 (2/5): Do not choose this hotel!! - We stayed here for 7 nights. If we had not prepaid this, we would have moved first thing next morning!
It is stated to be 4 stars, in my mind it is less than 3 stars. Reception is located outside -yes it has a roof but it is outside. To enter the rooms you have to climb in a wooden outdoor stairway that are in so poor shape that it is dangerous to use. Thee is no elevator so this is the only options. if you have bad legs -don’t even consider this hotel. You can stop reading now and look for other options.
The apartment was dirty. There is no chars to relax in. If you want to relax in the room and don’t want to do it in bed only option is to rest on the floor.. Bathroom is quite big, but it only contain a shower and water closet. The sink is placed in the bedroom outside the bathroom. There is one mirror in the apartment located outside the bath and in a dark spot where you hardly could see what you were doing.
They cleans the room once a day. But the “cleaning” did not include clean linen or towels during our stay.
The air-conditioning worked and managed to keep the apartment cool even when it was +35 degrees celsius outside. But the air-conditioning was placed over the bed, and during the night it start leaking water in the bed, so to stay dry we could only use half of the bed..
Breakfast I don’t want comment except saying it was not worth money. We ended up buying it outside even if we had it include in our price.
The good thing about this hotel however is the location. It is located on the beach so you don’t have to walk long distance to hit a very lovely beach.
- kirsi_nessu (2/5): Do not come here - Please don’t believe star ratings, this is not 4 or 3 stars.
Bathroom was falling a part, water smells terrible. And overall not good at all.
Stairs are falling a part and nails are popping up. If you have bad legs, it is really dangerous.
Room was dark and not really cleaned during our 7 nights stay. Cleaning was adding water bottles to fridge and making the bed.
Our towels were thrown under air conditioning and they were wet and not usable when needed them. Cleaners left outdoor wide open while we we day trip. Terrible behavior. None took responsibility.
Breakfast. So called warm food was on the table without kept hot, milks products on table on direct sun. What else do you need for food poising?
- Verified traveler (6/5): 3 Nights at Baan Lanta (Feb 17) - We spent 3 nights at Baan Lanta Resort (Feb 2017)
Pro:
- friendly hotel staff
- pool
- we booked our motorbike there which was fast and uncomplicated. The bike itself was in good shape
- the rooms are nice by itself (but also see cons)
- close to the beach
- good bars and restaurants nearby
Cons:
- the beach has a lot of boats
- the rooms are run down and need (at least in some aspects) a renovation
- at least our room was not clean (window, floor)
- Thorunn69 (2/5): Not recommendable - Arrived friday afternoon after 5 days in paradise, and all 4 of us immediately could tell that this was not another paradise. The smell in the reception of sour right behind us, told me I had to look for another hotel right away. I was convinced of this when we walked up the outside stairs that really needed repairing, and as well as the area in generel looked very tired. Room was small and dirty, bathroom horrible and about to fall to pieces. Balcony had 2 chairs that were about to break and the socalled 'sea-view' was hardly a seaview. Breakfast disgusting and hard to find A place to sit in trying to avoid the smell from the sour. We had breakfast there 1 day and decided to move on even though it meant our money was lost.
I Never saw A manager and it seemed that the place was run by A lot of younger girls with very little experience in being serviceminded.
Even our kids didnt like it - they thought the pool was ok though.
If no other option, eat breakfast / lunch / dinner at The drunken sailor 2 minutes away. It's cosy and cheap. Or have dinner at Same same, but different. You Can go there by the beach when you pass Pimalai resort. Super Nice food, drinks and ambience.
- christian (4/5): But Very Nice pool - I Think that the hotel was a bit torn Down. Repair not done with respect for original architecture (fine old Wood repaired with plywood). The staircase need to be renewed.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Wonderful view of the beach and the hillside. Nice relaxing atmosphere and adorable staff.
- Daniel (6/5): Nice looking Hotel with Rats in room - Hotel piękny, fajnie zlokalizowany, przy samej plaży, obiekt godny polecenia. Pokój w fajnym stylu, łazienki mogły by być odnowione. Śniadanie słabe, i szczur mieszkający w pokoju z gośćmi.
7-eleven
- John (8/5): Great location friendly staff - Great part of the island
- Gordon (10/5): Cozy Bungalows above a Quiet Beach - We live in Thailand, and so we've been to many islands and many resorts. This was one our all-time favorites. The staff were extremely kind and attentive, the location was at the quiet end of Koh Lanta, and the food and beachfront ambiance were great. We had easy access to many of the tours offered on the island, from snorkeling at nearby islands to kayaking amongst the mangroves to hiking in the national park. We rented scooters for the day, visited the local waterfall, watched other people ride elephants and ate lots of good food. As for the property itself, it's neither at the top end nor the bottom end in terms of price and comfort, but it was just right for our tastes -- not too fancy, not too basic. The nearby "town" is a bit unkempt and could deteriorate further in the near future as more and more people build hotels and shops ... and inevitably it seems throw their trash by the wayside. But the resort itself is tidy and somewhat secluded at one end of a longish the beach. All in all, a great stay that we'll remember for years.
- Jo (8/5): Lovely staff....Hotel needs T.L.C - We arrived just before 11pm,the reception was in darkness, but two lovely girls soon appeared and helped us with our cases. All chalets are up quite steep steps,so a degree of fitness is required. All the staff were extremely friendly and helpful, and could not be faulted in any way. Our room was cleaned every day, and we had different towels for the bathroom, the pool, and the beach. Breakfast was good with a choice of eggs, and fruit, cereal, juice, and a rice or noodle dish, along wth toast and different Thai sweet dishes.
At night there was a big selection of fresh fish to choose from, which could be cooked as you requested.
The beach was clean, although a bit rocky in places, and there are sun beds and umbrellas.
Once out of the hotel there are a few little shops, and cafes, and a 7/11.
There are also a couple of tuktuks for hire, or you can go on boat trips, or walk along the beach to a couple of other bars and restaurants. This is the quiet end of the island, which is perfect if you don't want to be in a busy noisy place
- corinne (8/5): Natural Thailand - Bungalows on the beach - Neat, small (15 only ) bungalow style accom right on the beach, less touristy, 7/11, doctor, pharmacy 1 min away! Great pool, on the same beach as Pimalae resort so awesome location but not big shopping area if that's what you are after!! Ok for families, roomy rooms room 15 best, 1,2,3 Seaview also... Others around pool!! Cheers
- Robyn (10/5): -
Quite far from main Lanta areas, but that can be a good thing!
- Matthias (10/5): - Value: good value for money; Service: Very friendly and helpful;
We would book this place again
