Guest Reviews
- Maria (10/5): - The location
- Russell (4/5): - Poor.we arrived and were told they did not have a room for us.after some negotionations
- Roger (10/5): - Great host. Place is updated and putting some love back into it. Would definitely go back there. Good stay. Thanks.
- Jillian (8/5): Blenheim stay - Very dated motel but convenient location for leaving the car & walking into Blenheim.
- John (8/5): - Good
- Heeni (6/5): - Cheap but not what we expected when booking
- Barbra (8/5): - Handy to city
- Irene and Jim (6/5): - Handy to town and food outlets.
Pain trying to turn right out of Raymar, so turned left and went around the block
- Andrew (8/5): - Wasn't expecting too much for the price, but my stay for work was okay; the host was great - friendly, welcoming and helpful. The room was clean and had all the basic facilities - comfy bed and fresh towels daily. Instant hot water in the bathroom, shower a bit dated but everything worked as it should.
Only gripe was no sink in the kitchen to wash up dirty plates, cutlery etc, so needed to do so in the wash basin in the bathroom.
Overall not a bad stay.
- Allan (6/5): - No comment
- Brent (10/5): 1 more night in Blenheim - Another night in Blenheim, motel nice and central so works for me
- Simon (8/5): - Basic accommodation but value for money.
- Jo (2/5): - The man running motel is rude & unfriendly, did not allow me to book in an hour early, I asked to not have rooms done for fear of my property, when I asked for tangs & sugar his reply was “ that’s what you get fir not getting room done! “ had also said to be quiet as walls thin & toilet roll holder is so far back it’s silly, lastly furniture holding kettle & microwave wobbled badly! Won’t be going back there!
- Brent (8/5): - Good
- samknightt (2/5): SCAMMER, HORRIBLE, BULLY - Owner was awful. Said he had a booking problem and will move us 'to his house down the road'. Assuming it would just be our group. There were TWO random people living in the house, and it was an extra 1.6km away. We had planned to walk to our festival. He then argued and treated us awfully, we are three 22 year old girls. Told us to do the walk in the dark and that we either take it or he will kick us out of the house. We had no option. It was 10.30pm at night and we were outside, so dangerous and he didn't care. He then tried to scam us and make us pay the amount AGAIN saying his eftpos didn't work. LIAR
- Leia (4/5): - Nothing
- Brent (8/5): last night 2021 - Last night for the year, have stayed many times and it is always nice and comfortable
- Brent (8/5): Back in Blenheim - Nice and comfortable, handy and well priced
- Verified traveler (10/5): - It was fine

- pamaxholdings (10/5): Review - What a wonderful place to stay. Anya the managaress, Cooper and Jackson the dogs ,Garfield and Gino the cats are such a wonderful team caring but luving, fair and firm. Facilities very clean , generally all stayers respectful and friendly.
Downside a good 15 minute walk to town but generally someone is always driving into town if you need to buy groceries so no need to carry heavy items back.
Would recommend highly.
All my appreciation to everyone that made my stay an experience I will never forget I thank you.
All the best, travel well and stay safe.
Regards Karl Halkett
- Verified traveler (4/5): Disappointing - Disappointed - no milk in the fridge or shampoo in bathroom, wi-fi was terrible, reception not professional on check. Definitely not a 7.8 in my eyes.
- christopherbE9286XC (2/5): Overbooks and doesn't communicate - The most unrealiable and unsatisfactory experience in years.
I arrived at 17:30 which was my expected time to find the desk unattended. Pushed the buzzer and nobody came. After waiting some 5+ minutes I noticed some papers on the desk for guests with our names on them. We had been moved to another hotel!
They had my cell phone and email but no attempt to contact me. I had chosen this hotel specifically so I could be close to Seymour Square, I didn't want a place 1+ km out of town which meant I had to drive everywhere.
Totally unacceptable and unprofessional behaviour. Avoid them unless you are willing to be 'pumped and dumped' to another hotel.
- Ashwin (2/5): - We stayed 3 nights and our room was serviced probably ones, we ran out of toilet paper, inadequate heating at night, the milk provided was in a open jug, main door hardly closed properly overall the stay was miserable and we paid top dollar (about $175 per night)
If you have a family wouldn’t recommend staying there
- Verified traveler (6/5): Good location - The owner is accommodating and the motel is in a good location. The rooms are too small that dining tables & chairs were not provided. Not sure why an extra bed is provided if there are only 3 people to sleep in each room. Also 2 of the rooms asked to be made up but they were not, only provided new towels.
- Ss (8/5): - Comfy bed, nice owner, good location. Only issue being no kitchen sink to wash our dishes.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Kitchen bench so small no room for jug, toaster, at the same time, not enough plugs for toaster, jug, microwave. No bowls or utensils for microwave.
- rf80808 (6/5): Basic, small but what we needed - Basic small motel room. But quiet, cosy and just what we needed. Room had just small kitchenette with microwave and kettle but larger communal kitchen just a few rooms down provided what we needed to cook and eat in. Kitchenette and table felt small and cramped but otherwise all ok.
- Brenda (8/5): - Plesently surprised to find older style mofels so well presented.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Very clean and close to the city. Quite enjoyed staying there
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Room was clean and tidy. It lacked a few things like a bowl to microwave food, a coffee plunger
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Good location, dairy just across the road. Very handy to our conference location.
- noddymc64 (10/5): Great little stopover hotel - I stayed here with family at short notice and was pleasantly surprised with this great little hotel. Rooms are very clean and bedding is quite comfortable. We had three beds in the room and still had space to move around. The room even had a small area for coffee and tea making and a dining table and chairs too. Amenities are excellent for washing and drying clothes and an iron is available along with washing powder from the front office. I did notice a communal kitchen area that would be great for cooking easy meals. I would not hesitate to stay here again and the host was very helpful. Thank you and hope to see you again soon.
- J5076YWamym (6/5): Perfect for budget - This is a great little old motel in the heart of Blenheim. The rooms were actually a decent size with good amenities. Is easily stay here again next time I was looking to stay in Blenheim while on a budget.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Close to work and very friendly plus helpful staff
- Cristine (10/5): - Lily very helpful arranging early morning transport to airport.
Quiet room and very clean
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Room clean, good price, disappointed the kitchenette area did not have its own sink. Parking was tight due to picnic tables overlapping the car parks
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Clean and quiet, we only stayed one night as we were just passing through, but we were very pleased with our accommodations and the pricing was reasonable.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Did not like no sink basin to wash dishes and crockery and utensils were on the bottom of cupboard ....no shelf in middle a bit hard for me to bend to the floor to get crockery and utensils the car parking was not wide enough ti park the car
- matthewl20 (8/5): Just what we wanted - We needed a night’s stay in Blenheim, that would also take a dog. And Raymar fitted the bill.
It was very clean and tidy, and had everything we needed. We would happily go back again. Came with fridge, milk, tea and coffee and sugar, plenty of plates and mugs and glasses. Wifi and bedding and towels and soap.
For NZD$113 I really can’t see how we would have done better.
Close to town centre, yet not a particularly busy road either, car parking right outside.
It’s not top top luxury but it was very good.
- Brent (8/5): One more time - Over night once again
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Friendly and helpful staff but very out of date facility with too tiny room size
- Carole (6/5): - The motel was okay, very basic with no kitchen in unit. However there was kitchen facilities next to our unit. Rooms not very soundproofed.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great place! Large rooms and great staff. Would definitely stay again when in the area.
- 822gemmar (6/5): Budget but clean. - We recently stayed at this complex on an overnight trip to blenheim. I found the room to be roomy, and looked to be redecorated/modernised. When we booked we specifically asked for a room off the road so we were somewhat dissapointed when we checked in and seen our room was right on the road front but as the complex was fully booked it was either take the room we had been allocated or leave it. In the end it wasn't the road noise that was bothersome for us infact there was no noise from the road at all, it was the clunking, buzzing, sloshing and wurring of the very sick sounding fridge that bugged us all night
sadly we couldn't turn it off as we required some medication to be refrigerated .despite sleep qaulity being poor The beds were actually quite comfortable and a fan was provided for the hot night. definately no frills and very very overpriced for what it was but good enough for a one night stay.
- BPinOz (6/5): Rudimentary but inexpensive - But perfectly acceptable and a comfortable place to sleep. Terms are cash or debit card only (to keep costs down). It seems strange today that credit cards are not acceptable; apparently the cost to the motel to take a $120 payment by credit card would be around $5, and adding that to the price for payment by credit card would be acceptable as the cost of convenience to many travellers.
Shower head is at shoulder height, which is not convenient, and the temperature control is coarse - it's hard to select a temperature between brrr and ouch, though with patience and fine motor control it can be done,
We were made welcome and staff were very helpful.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - There was no indication in the booking confirmation that credit cards are not accepted.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Central to shopping centre. Affordable accommodation.
- Ksmittyc (8/5): Good budget motel. - The Raymar Motel is a good budget choice for Blenheim. The staff are friendly, the main room and bathroom very clean, and housekeeping is done daily. It is centrally located and within a short walk of downtown and a good grocery store. The kitchenette is supplied with a fridge, kettle, toaster, microwave, dishes, cutlery, tea and coffee, and a small jug of fresh milk. There is a stove in the shared kitchen for cooking. Overall, I would certainly recommend this pleasant little motel.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Good spot - Very good spot for a couple days stay. Wifi could use a booster so that rooms farther from the office could have a good connection. Air conditioned rooms would be a bonus. Very much enjoyed the outdoor shared kitchen and eating area
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Very close to the beach, shopping, food & coffee outlets.
- Brent (8/5): Another night in Blenheim - I only stay as an over nighter, on transit, great for that purpose, close to shops if needed, always freindly reception with clean and tidy units
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Just what we needed on a little pit stop through town whilst traveling.
- Ctt (8/5): - We checked in late after 11pm but the room was ready for us thanks to the arrangement by the management. The room was compact with comfy beds and ensuite facilities.
- Taryn (8/5): Good budget motel - Good budget accommodation option in Blenheim. Easy walk to town and restaurants. Great base for exploring wine region.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great motel close to town centre, very reasonable rates.
- B351FKdanielb (8/5): Comfortable budget accommodation - Motel style accommodation, not much to look at from the outside. But the rooms are adequate and have everything you need for a quick stop.... free Wifi, super comfortable beds, own bathroom and close to town centre... what more could you ask for... for the price.
- Brent (10/5): Trip 3 - Time to be back in Bleheim, great place when on your own or just a quick stop, clean and great host, ill be back
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Was good place to stay in Blenheim, nice and close to town
- Verified traveler (4/5): NO CREDIT CARD FACILITIES - Nothing more annoying than be told on arrival that they dont accept any form of Credit card payment. Owner states its on every booking site (IT IS NOT - just check for yourself.)
Beware also that there is limited heating in the rooms and this makes for a Polar experience if there is a cold snap....
- Brent (10/5): Over night again - Back again for an over night stay, cool night so was a little trick getting the room warm but all good, will return
- TimTamGirl (8/5): Budget Friendly with Lovely Staff - Only a small hotel which was just a 5 minute walk to the centre of Blenheim. The rooms were clean and well equipped (our bathroom had recently been renovated) and the beds very comfortable. Staff were very friendly and helpful (possibly the owners?), however, there were no Credit Card/EFTPOS facilities (only cash). Overall, our stay was very pleasant.
- Darrell202 (6/5): Over night stopover - We did look at the reviews from others when we decided on the Raymar Inn. The units are dated but clean there was no real kitchen area in the room but you could us the shared kitchen and sink. As a stopover it was ok and being close to town you could walk to the RSA for an excellent meal
- Verified traveler (8/5): OK for Budget Accommodation - This is budget accommodation and as such was fine, the price however wasn't far away from much nicer rooms we stayed in on our trip, so given the opportunity, would probably spend a few dollars more next time and stay somewhere nicer - but as far as budget accommodation goes, there was nothing fundamentally wrong with this place.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Close to city centre - Great place central to city, yet quiet. The only thing i would suggest is bring your own pillow the ones in the room are not good. The car park is small. No sink near small kitchenette but using bathroom was fine. Huge bathroom. Overall great value though.
- Stuart (8/5): - Close to town. Parking was a bit tight. No sink in the kitchen.
- Brent (8/5): Over night stop - Great value for money, did what i needed and will stay again
- J1165TZjohnw (8/5): Clean and comfortable - Clean and comfortable. Good safe parking and a decent shower. Rooms have AC and a small kitchenette. Location is fairly central and a short 5 min walk right into centre.
They don’t accept credit cards only cash or eftpos (debit) that’s the only drawback.
- Trudi (8/5): Comfortable motel, close to the city centre - The motel was easy to find, the room reasonably big.
As the motel was situated near the city centre along a busy road, the noise was a bit
much, even the people next door were heard. (They weren't extra loud, but the walls seem to be
quite thin, and not sound proof.
But all in all, a comfortable enough stay.
- Sharyn (6/5): Average motel OK for tariff - Stayed one night in studio unit, quite suitable for us.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Shabby motel, no street appeal - We arrived in Blenheim tired and hot and felt very disappointed when we saw this motel. It was on a busy road, looked shabby and the units were very basic. We decided to stay elsewhere.
- Chel (6/5): Good enough - Its pretty good for the price. The room and bathroom are clean. They provided electric fan on summer.
The walls are thin so dont talk too loud specially at night. Just be considerate of your neighbour.
There was a couple having a domestic argument when we were there and it kept us up. A bit scary because they were shouting and banging the door, then followed by loud knocking and more shouting. Although this is not the fault of the motel.
- Ingrid (10/5): very quiet and comfortable, excellent staff,
. - I only stayed 1 night at the Motel, but I had a good rest there e me a good rest for my long flight home. The staff was excellent , I could not wish for something better.
- Abraham (8/5): Good stsy - The room was clean and big. There was a fan but it was not enough. Very good wifi.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Raymar - worthwhile - Everything was comfortable, although bathroom a little narrow. Living space very good, staff friendly. Clean.
- Owen (8/5): Nice Motel. - We didn't need a full kitchenette so this place worked out fine with microwave.
Clean and beautiful sheets.
Would recommend.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Trip to Blenhiem - Friendly staff easy to contact. Hotel was on the main route out of town so it was easy to find.
- Verified traveler (6/5): the person behind desk needs a bit of PRtraining - when a son and his mother arrive and have 2 rooms booked and the person behind desk asked why we can't sleep together
- Verified traveler (8/5): Short walk to town centre - Good location just a few minutes walk to town centre, shops parks etc. went to pay at motel and they dnt accept credit cards.cash or eftpos only.
- Keighley (2/5): Dissatisfied - When me and my partner arrived they forgot that we were coming and had double booked. After this the staff at the front desk didn't know what to do and so I had to explain to do the give us a refund, or find us somewhere to stay. After a bit of haggling we finally got put into another motel for the night.
Next day we went back to check in and everything was sweet, until that night where the wall thermostat was broken and at -2°C, that night it was not a comfortable.
Would not reccomened.
- 27lesterb (10/5): Nice and central - 2 good kitchens a big fridge and chest freezer
And a friendly cat arrived and stayed with us it was nice and central, easy to find easy walk to the centre of Blenheim, and the RSL, we heard the bugle every night at 6 pm
- eddieandkayb (10/5): Very Comfortable - . Very reasonably priced. Very helpful staff. We stayed one night, had everything we needed. Even though the rooms are close to a busy road , it was very quiet. The rooms are comfortable, warm and clean. We would stay again.
- Matthew (6/5): Cheap and central - Motel was cheap and room had everything we needed. Room and bathroom were clean and towels were changed daily. Unfortunately there wasn't enough room to park our vehicle inside the motel so had to park on the road (didn't have any problems through).
- dak104 (10/5): Raymar Motel excellet will stay again - Excellent at reception with very friendly welcome and service. Very clean accom. and comfortable bed. Will most certainly stay again on next visit. Blenhiem is a very clean town as well as sunny. Motel serviced every morning by pleasant cleaning staff. Very handy maybe 8 to 10 walk to town and also being new year holiday period found a cafe for breakfast open within that walk and it was very nice and filling. The only fault I found was other visitors arriving back at motel standing outside my unit talking in loud voices at 1.30am for about 30 minutes waking me up not impressed. But also not the fault of motel.
- R&K (8/5): Very convenient situation and easy to find - Very comfortable. good price. Short distance from Picton ferry
- Sharon (8/5): - Stayed one night only. It was comfortable and quiet.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - No heating in room
RCD keep popping - have tv on and turn on jug and the rcd would blow?
- Verified traveler (8/5): Nice motel close to city centre. - Nice clean motel close to city centre, clean and comfortable.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Melb kiwis on tour - Ideal for what we needed. Connecting to the Internet was touch and go at times which was frustrating for the teenager.
- Rasa (10/5): Clean and Spacious - Very calm and relax place. Have a tidy kitchen. Friendly hospitality. There is a darling kitty to play. It came to our room and slept on my mom's sweater.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Hi there,
Really enjoyed our stays the only negative I have with the Hotel is that it needs to have a Credit Card facility or at least let guests know before hand that there is no Credit Card facilities available to avoid any unnecessary awkwardness between guests and proprietor. Otherwise had an excellent stay.
Many thanks
Patsy Horne
- RosieB953 (8/5): Simple, friendly, clean - This is a basic motel, good value for money, 5 -10 min walk to town centre, cafes, convention centre & theatre. Very clean. Excellent hot shower. Very comfortable bed...had great sleeps. Improvements would be a sharp cutting knife and another bedside table. Receptionist was very helpful and friendly.
- almo (4/5): DIY disgrace - On arrival we discovered that the reason we couldnt pay online is because they dont takecredit cards Next there were insufficient car parks largely due to the owners car parked in one of the spaces. So cars were parked everywhere. The fridge was full of ants the bathroom door handle fell off, the shower wall was cracked and the toilet ran all night. We had to take the painting off the wall behind the bed otherwise we couldnt sit up. Reasonable price but it ended there
- KCqt1966 (6/5): It was enough for the night - I have read the reviews and didn't come across any of them. My motel room was very clean and the staff were very helpful with giving me information and greeting me to the motel. I have no problem returning on my next trip to South Island.
- kay (8/5): Close to tow - Unit was clean and comfortable close to town, friendly service
- Verified traveler (8/5): Very central in Blenheim being on the High Street. - Room was very comfortable and the beds were good too. Microwave and kettle in room with crockery, glasses and cutlery. There was also a cooker in a communal area if you wanted to cook a meal.
In a good place to tour the vineyards.
Found it very good value for money.
- kelly (10/5): Very clean quite motel - Super friendly staff. Cheap and dated but perfect for us. Very clean room would 100% stay here again
- Catalina (10/5): Good experience - Very nice and clean. Loved the staff. Bathroom a bit small, but the shower pressure was so good....
- S1176UEchriss (4/5): You would HOPE to get what you pay for. - Ok so its Easter weekend, and prices in the town are elevated, but I'd still expect more for my money. Its a minimalist establishment - thats fine, but a dirty iron (and handed a bottle of spray cleaner), broken window latches, broken soap tray, a reluctance to supply a second (small) jug of milk. And yes they advertise NO CREDIT CARDS, but its not noticeable when booking through another service.
Interesting - on the office door, there is a list of reasons why its so "affordable" to stay here. Sometimes though, it isn't always about the money.
- alun (4/5): Booked but it was full. - Staff rebooked us a place nearby. So can't comment
