Guest Reviews
- Nicholas (10/5): -

- Leonardo (10/5): Great place to stay a couple of days - Everything was great, the food, the tents, location, staff. Our guide MJ made sure that we had the best time. One day the water pressure was bad
- Casey-Lee (5/5): Beautiful setting and Accomodation - Loved that it was secluded and niche
The weather was not great - but that’s ok if everyone control
The accommodation is stunning and really enjoyed the outdoor shower The organisation of the trip
There definitely should be a host over an above a ranger managing / helping people.
MJ the Ranger was really great and did an exceptional job of managing all on his own - although you could feel the lack of customer service due to managing too much.
We were contacted on the morning en route to Mabula - a day before should be standard for a boutique experience.
I asked if there were non - alcoholic options for drinks and they confirmed yes - but this was not the case.
Told the lodge it was my birthday weekend getaway - zero added value service for this - stance for a boutique experience .
Staff did not seem so friendly - or didn’t feel some were ‘happy’
For what you pay versus the experience - I’m not sure if it’s worth it - to be honest

- Kristina (10/5): Einzigartige Unterkunft - Einzigartige Unterkunft
Sehr tolle Safaris, lässige Aussendusche beim Zelt, sehr nette Mitarbeiter, super leckeres Essen, sehr familiär, Grill beim Buschfeuer.
Kommen sehr gerne wieder.

- Simon (10/5): - Staff are super friendly, great location, relaxing bush break.
- Chante (10/5): - Breakfast lunch snacks dinner everything was just perfect!!! Even the desert at the boma fire.
The beds are soo comfortable
- Helena (10/5): Amazing trip! 100% recommend - This safari was absolutely unforgettable, and a huge part of that was our brilliant guide, MJ. His knowledge of the wildlife was outstanding — from animal behaviour to tracking and the finer details we would never have noticed ourselves. He made every game drive fascinating and engaging and personalised to what we wanted to see that day!
The staff were incredibly kind, warm and attentive throughout our stay, always going out of their way to make us feel comfortable. The food was also amazing — consistently delicious and beautifully prepared.
The camp itself felt very special thanks to the small number of tents. We even had the place to ourselves for 2 nights, which added to the sense of magic and exclusivity. They even set up private lunch spots just for us, surrounded by nature, which was such a thoughtful and memorable touch.
An exceptional safari from start to finish — we couldn’t have asked for more. N/A
Nada, amei absolutamente tudo.

- Mike (9/5): Location and food excellent. Staff were amazing and out guide, MJ, was exceptional. The camp needs a facelift as it’s a - Location, staff and food were exceptional. Needs a facelift. A little tired here and there.
- David (1/5): There was an electrical fire so we couldn’t stay there -

- Amanda (10/5): - Everything. Absolutely amazing.
- Graham (10/5): Incredible. - Idyllic get away with only 5 luxury tents, amazing team and exceptional game drives. Saw incredible number of animals all in excellent condition. I am over 6 foot tall and the beds were slightly short for me. Booking.com did not inform me that you need to book in at Mabula Lodge from where you are picked up and driven in a game viewing vehicle to the exclusive and wonderful Kwafabusi bush camp.

- Jane (5/5): - Unable to comment. We could not stay here as an incident meant there wax no power or water We received a WhatsApp message that said tebrmts, we're closed and we were to be put into Mabula Lodge. No phone call. As, was late Friday reservations were closing. Were complained as the Mabula Lodge was neither compatible in experience or price. Eventually our friend got through to a number and we were 1 night Mabula Lodge an 2 nights Safari Plains. They also upgraded us but we still found Mabula Lodge a dire experience
- Justine Elisabeth (10/5): Ein unvergessliches Erlebnis ! - Eine sehr schöne Anlage mit
romantischem Wohnen in einem
sehr geschmackvoll eingerichtetem Hauszelt.
Wunderbare, erlebnisreiche Game Drives mit M.J. , einem hervorragenden und erfahrenen
Ranger.
Sehr Schmackhaftes Essen,
äußert freundliches Personal
und hervorstechende Sauberkeit.
Dieses Camp ist sehr
empfehlenswert !
Jutta & Martin Es gibt nichts !
- Simina S (10/5): - The service and hospitality of this place is absolutely incredible. The daily safaris were so well planned and our guides Noku and M.J ensured that we didn’t miss any opportunities to spot animals up close.
The food served was 10/10, each meal was thoughtfully curated, with multiple courses great both in creativity and flavour.
Overall, this was far more than just a trip, it was an experience filled with adventure, and unforgettable memories. We would highly recommend it to anyone. Nothing to highlight.
- Alfons (10/5): We had a very nice stay - Very friendly staff, good location in the Mabula Game Reserve, very good food. The guide was excellent. We saw rhinos, cheetahs, and lions. We had a very nice stay.
- Chao Hsin (8/5): - Location Bed and electrical blanket
- RONELLE GILBERT (8/5): We had a lovely stay Would recommend it - The food at Kwafubesi was excellent. Of the best i've had at any lodge. Most of the staff were lovely. Ambience very nice. Beds big and comfortable with beautiful fresh linen. The plumbing needs serious attention in the tents. The bath literally trickles and took 30 minutes to run a small bath. Bathrooms pretty outdated and need renovation. Ranger was quite knowledgeable but enjoyed talking about himself a little bit too much. At the drinks stop he first used the bathroom (no problem), then spent 10 minutes at least setting up drinks table and decorating it with branches and flowers, then taking photos for another while, and only then did he go about getting his guests a drink.

Rien.
- Neha (9/5): Definitely recommend for a romantic weekend away - Loved the place. We felt special! It’s an absolute unique experience and we absolutely loved it! The food was also delicious! For the staff to be clearer on where we can find drinks etc given that it was unlimited
- Jacqueline (9/5): Loved the camp - This was our second visit to Kwafubesi and it did not disappoint. The tent was comfortable, staff helpful and we thoroughly enjoyed all the game drives. Hope to make a return visit again one day. There was little time between the final morning game drive and the required check out time so we were unable to shower and change, as we had hoped to, before leaving for our 2+ hour drive to Johannesburg.
- Charl (10/5): Greateful to have chosen Kwafubesi to celebrate our birthdays…Next level and thankyou for all the spoils. - The exclusiveness and individual attention from the staff that went the extra mile to spoil us. A great shout out to Nikita, MJ, Tristan, Johannes, Maggie and Cathy. Top class and into nature…absolutely amazing and just what we needed. An African Gem.
- Kabelo (10/5): Exceptional -
- Craill (10/5): From Arrival to departure everything is exceptional - Staff are excellent and very accommodating. From Arrival to departure everything is exceptional. Highly recommended. What drinks are included. Maybe a drinks menu will help. Did not know what was available.
- Gill (9/5): Superb -
- Tarryn (9/5): Superb - Great service from all staff
- Debbie (8/5): Nikita, Ethan and Anna are Assets! - The best thing about Kwafubesi would be Nikita the Manager she goes above and beyond to ensure Customer Satisfaction, Ethan is exceptional and the most pleasant Game Ranger also constantly going above and beyond, and Anna the Chef - this woman performs miracles in the kitchen - they are all true assets of Kwafubesi and if they weren't a part of our experience I truly believe that it just would not have been what it was. The shower in the luxury tent is awesome! Word of advice - don't pack snacks they supply an excessive amount of food - you are never hungry, however if you like good coffee it might be worth packing your own preferred brand - they offer sugar and milk - your own coffee would just help to kick start your day the way you enjoy it yourself. If you drink something specific I would recommend contacting them before leaving and enquiring if they stock it before hand so you can get what you need before you get there as your vehicle won't be accompanying you to your accommodation so quickly running out to get what you need isn't an option. The stars are phenomenal to view on the property and you can see the milkyway clearly at night. And the game drives gives the opportunity to see South Africa's Big Five up close and personal. If for any reason you encounter an Abigail be insistent on taking all your luggage as I truly feel she could have been more accommodating - as our very first experience she created a very bitter taste of the establishment upon arrival - we learnt that she is still new and still has a lot to learn so we are forgiving but she was the reason that Nikita and MJ had to work twice as hard on our first night to rescue our review. The property can only accommodate a limited amount of people at any time which is wonderful if you want a romantic weekend away - the reception area where meals are served in my opinion remains too small regardless of the limited guests with everyone being to close to each other - Nikita however accommodated us by having a table taken to our tents porch and all our meals being served there. The bath is big enough for one if you are big or small but as a couple to bath together it would only work if you are small enough - the shower either way is exceptional and recommend it as a couples activity. The bed is comfortable if you are short enough - my husband is 1.83m and I am 1.72m and we had to sleep diagonally every night as we where restricted by the beds frame which was slightly uncomfortable. The toilet needed several flushes to work even for tp nevermind anything else, I do think plumbing maintenance is advised. The game drives are wonderful if you get Ethan, just bare in mind there's 2 drives per day and you are advised to rush to the Cruiser if you hope to sit next to your partner and not seperately due to limited seating which isn't ideal if you planned a romantic trip and use the bathroom before hand the drives are 2 and a half hours long. If you want to book horse riding make sure you are under 90kg as it is a limitation.
- Trott (10/5): Exceptional - Everything from the reception, attention to detail and the food Not applicable
- Mari (7/5): Good -
- Nireshini (9/5): Loved it. - Excellent staff. Great ambiance. Kudos to the chef. Could have been clearer about the directions or location on the website. Guest should be told to drive to main lodge and then transport will be provided to camp.
- Harry (9/5): Superb -
- Simon (10/5): Exceptional - Relaxing, staff extremely friendly and helpful
- Werren (8/5): Very good - Absolutely everything was amazing. The fact that they kept us busy, with food and safaris was great and the safari guide/driver (MJ) was thr best. I liked that everything was all inclusive and I do understand the timing surrounding the stay but the price (at least for a local) was just a bit too much.
- Kabelo (10/5): perfect mix of adventure and luxury accommodation - unforgettable experience with its delicious, expertly crafted meals by a talented chef Johannes and thrilling game drives led by a friendly and knowledgeable MJ Every dish is beautifully prepared Nothing
- Zweli (9/5): Superb -
- Michael (10/5): Fantastic experience - Everything. The staff were very accommodating. Ethan our guide was amazing. The moths
- Kerrie (10/5): Amazing, stunning , value for money!!!🤩 - The Food was AMAZING Especially Johannes, he made the BEST food on Friday night!! 🤩🤩 it was so peaceful and seeing the whole pride of Lions was the Highlight of the Trip, thanks to Ethan for going above and beyond on our game drives!😁 The communication from the Staff could be improved a little, as we were unaware of the guided safari walks, but we were informed of other activities 😊 other than that the staff were very polite and wonderful 😁
Maybe also spray the rooms when closing the curtains with a bit of room spray to keep some bugs out, but the ambiance was amazing 🤩
- Avisha (10/5): Exceptional -
- Andries (10/5): Exceptional -
- Lalage (9/5): Luxury Glamping in the most beautiful location. Well worth it ❤️ - The team at Kwafubesi were absolutely amazing. MJ, Nakita, Johannes, Margret, Elliot and Anna made our stay unforgettable.
MJ spent endless hours answering all sorts of questions about the animals, Forna and flora.
Nakita made sure we had everything we needed and booked all experiences.
Johannes and Anna made exceptional meals even with are long lists or allergies and intolerances we have.
Margret and Elliot kept everything spotless which is super hard in the bush. Our tents were a pleasure to be in. Always clean and tidy.
Overall one of our best family holidays. Thank you 🙏 The baths and showers need some attention.
- Nancy (10/5): Excellent location, clean rooms, friendly staff, great food - Excellent staff, great food Nothing
- Gwebu (10/5): Exceptional -
- Yzelle (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ketley (9/5): very enjoyable despite all the rain - The toilet at the lapa could have been better monitored and restocked.
- Letsatsi (9/5): Superb - There was slight challenge with our reservation and Lungile (reservations) resolved it without any problems. The staff was amazing. The food was great. The accommodation and other facilities were awesome.
- Dr (8/5): A pleasant getaway 2 1/2 hors drive form Johannesburg - The catering, staff and location were excellent. I would especially mention the chef and our guide Ethan, who went out of their way to ensure we had a great stay. The tents could do with a bit of maintenance, things like taps, zips, should be looked at.
- Tumelo (10/5): Exceptional -
- Mvelo (8/5): Very good -
- Quinton (10/5): Exceptional -
- Peter (10/5): We did not want to leave Kwafubesi - an experience that will last a life time! - We loved the friendly helpful staff who could not do enough to make our stay a wonderful experience, from the chef Anna to Catherine, Wesley, Margaret who waited on us and MJ and Vincent our game rangers. Thanks for making our stay incredible!
- Camilla (9/5): Weekend Well Spent! - The rooms are simultaneously rustic and romantic. The food was divine, particularly the oxtail. The game rangers were knowledgeable & friendly. I would have appreciated staff asking me if I wanted the continental breakfast before it was served to me, especially since a hot breakfast is served after. A buffet for continental would be better.
South Africans are known to enjoy a drink or two, and with it being all inclusive it would have been great to have access to a wider variety of drinks from the mini fridge. For the most part because staff were often not around to take orders. An ice machine wouldn’t go amiss either.
- Bhengu (6/5): Love it the place but - I love the intimacy of the place. Beautiful place, you in the bush and the staff is amazing. Food, which is usually the best but this time.
Not having coffee beans in the morning.
The safari drives as well unfortunately did not see many animals, just disappointed.
- Martin (1/5): Bad -
- Justin (10/5): Our stay at the Kwafubesi was an unforgettable blend of comfort, exquisite cuisine, attentive service, expert-led game d - Everything!! Everything was to delivered to a high standard. Thoughtful touches throughout the day and discreetly executed to ensure a relaxing and comfortable stay. Staff were super attentive and friendly and the overall experience was executed with absolute professionalism. I honestly cannot think of anything that we didn’t like.
- Julia (10/5): Exceptional experience with amazing accommodation, food and staff - We had the best couple of days at Kwafubesi. The location and tents were very luxurious and comfortable- loved the outdoor shower. We enjoyed lounging by the pool inbetween game drives. The food was outstanding and every staff member we interacted with was very friendly and professional. We had Vincent as our guide who really made our trip- he was so knowledgeable about the game and reserve and brought a great energy and humor to our rides. Loved the drinks stops on our game drives. Would highly recommend this intimate experience. Nothing
- Nancy (10/5): Exceptional -
- Petro (9/5): Superb -
- Fiford (9/5): Superb -
- Bart (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ingela (8/5): Very good - A small nice safari camp with beautiful tents. The staff and the food is very nice. The best was our safariguide Wincent, we give him 10/10. Don’t book transfer with them. It’s really expensive.
We asked them to arrange with transfer to and from the airport and we got a fixed price and payed in advance. The taxi driver didn’t know the way so we went around for a while before he found the entrance, and he asked us to find the way :(
In our confirmation it said that 4 bottle of water was included but it wasn’t. The day before we were going home the lodge told us we had to pay an extra 10% because we wanted to go earlier than they wanted but we hadn’t agreed on any times and we wanted to be at the airport on time, it’s not nice to be late because the driver don’t know the way. This was not a good end and not nice to treat guest like this. They said that they use an external company so they couldn’t do anything but it would have been easy if they wanted.
- Thamaga (10/5): Exceptional -
- Stacey (10/5): Exceptional - Service was outstanding, all staff, chef, guide and management all went out of their way to make our stay as amazing as possible. Love the attention to smaller details. Food was simple but delicious.
The very intimate tented camp was cozy and sooooo quiet. Game drives were great with superb sundowner and morning coffee stops.
- Muzi (10/5): Exceptional -
- Luanshia (10/5): Exceptional - The staff were very hospitable and very attentive to our requests! Vincent also made our trip very memorable by taking us on wonderful safaris and shared his wealth of knowledge N/A
- Lisa (10/5): - The tents were stunning, the food was delicious, and the service was top notch. Always felt safe, and spotted so many animals on the game drives. Would recommend!
- Ursula (9/5): Superb -
- Bregt (8/5): Great relaxing getaway, good food and enjoyable safari drives! - The tent was very comfortable. The common areas well looked after. Small but reasonable pool. The food was very nice! Just some missing equipment at breakfast and on the game drives. In the middle of the Bush they decided to decorate everything with plastic plants. This made the place look tacky and cheap.
- Phophi (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jenifer (9/5): Superb -
- Charmaine (7/5): Birthday outing - The food was amazing. I also enjoyed the game drives They ran out of Heineken and bubbly. Electric blanket didn't work on one side. It was reported but nothing was done about it.
- Altenkirk (10/5): Exceptional - The tranquil quite camp. We'll set out giving privacy.
Great staff and guide Vincent. Had great sightings and just enjoyed the break away from the rush of the city Na
- Amanda (10/5): Blissful! The staff were amazing - Everything Would be nice to have canvas to close off the lodge area when it gets windy
- Carla (9/5): Superb -
- Denis (8/5): Very good -
- Raeez (1/5): Awful not worth the price - Clean room . Friendly staff Arrived at 1.30 no lunch was served only dinner . Gas heater ran out of gas at dinner and no refill .Rooms were Freezing cold electric blanket not working
Woke up to no one present at the lodge had to make own arrangements for someone to collect us from the tented area
- Gunter (9/5): Beautiful, relaxing stay in lovely surroundings - Small camp, with friendly and helpful staff.
- Marlize (9/5): A great break away from home. - Food was great, we didn't want to leave the tent for dinner and the staff brought it to our tent. The staff is extremely helpful and the setting is very cosy and comfortable. Not necessarily a bad thing when you are trying to relax, but you are still in Africa time. ;)
- Zonin (9/5): Superb - The tent is amazing, surrounded by beautiful land in perfect peace.
- Matthieu (8/5): Very good - Great quiet place, away from the buzz and noise Nothing
- Chantelle (10/5): Exceptional -
- Christina (10/5): awesome - Staff super friendly, food excellent, accommodation wonderful
- Samantha (9/5): Really great tented safari experience. - The campsite was lovely. The lodge area, the poolside and fire pit areas all looked lovely and inviting. The tents were spacious, comfortable and really sturdy! We had very strong electrical storms 2 nights we were there, but we woke safe and dry. All the staff at camp were kind and attentive. The food and drinks were top notch, you will not go hungry servings were generous! Vincent our guide was very knowledgeable and personable. He guided us to see wonderful wildlife and he knows a lot about plants too, which was very interesting to learn about. The camp is really in the bush, it is lovely and quiet, the night sky is spectacular. I loved the exclusive feel. There are only 5 tents. We only ever shared the camp with one other party. Before my stay, when I had questions, it was very hard to get into contact with anyone.
I had a request that was agreed upon before the stay, but it was not carried out on arrival. So I feel there is a disconnect in communication between those that answer the emails/messages from bookings and the camp manager.
And a suggestion, I would have liked a board or something that tells us information, like the plans for the day, what time are the drives, what the food will be for the day, the other experiences we can book. Also perhaps a menu, drinks list for the down times.
- Sifiso (10/5): We enjoyed our short stay here, loved everything and the food delicious 👌🏾 - Everything was top tier, would definitely come back soon. Leaving
- Claire (10/5): Exceptional - Everything is always wonderful, from the food, to the service, the game viewing and comfort
- Chris (10/5): Fantastic stay in superb accommodation and excellent staff! Highly recommend. - Quiet and away from too many other guests. Very quaint and cosy! Pool is a touch small but it really isn’t a big deal!
