Guest Reviews
- Sharron (9/5): Great stay at a very good price - Great place for the price. Really good food and the staff and owner were lovely
- catherine (8/5): Enjoyed the stay, with only a couple of issues. - Everything was fine, there were a few squeaky floorboards but this is expected of an older property. We did notice lots mould on the bedroom windows, off putting as this is easily dealt with. We ate our evening meal with them, which was very nice .I did not like the bacon with my breakfast but my partner did, this is down to personal preference. sort the mould on the windows,no excuse.
- Helen (6/5): An old style pub B&B - The inn was a convenient stop off point on our journey to Northumberland. The bed was very comfortable and the bed linen smelt beautifully fresh. The steak pie was exceptional! If you’re looking for a boutique country inn, this isn’t it. It is an old style pub B&B. Decor is dated and cleanliness in the bathrooms, could be better (the shower curtains definitely need a refresh). Waiting staff could do with some training.
- Paul (10/5): Highly recommended. - This was our second stay. The owners and staff are great, really helpful and welcoming. The bedroom was comfortable with everything you needed, such as iron, fan etc. The pub food is homemade and delicious. This is a family run pub in a small village with easy access to the motorway and a pleasure to stay at. Nothing.
- Przemyslaw (10/5): Little gem with great food. - We stop in this beautiful pub on our coast to coast cycling trip. It was fantastic experience. Very welcoming owner and bar staff. Food was fantastic. Musaka was out of this world. Thank you no guinness ... but great selection of local beers

- Adrian (9/5): Lovely 2 day break for nearby wedding and trip to York - Comfortable, cosy and traditional pub
- Neil (9/5): Perfect for what we wanted, after touring all day, we wanted a clean and comfortable room to return to with the option o - In a quiet country location, but convenient for the places we visited (York, Thirsk, Whitby, Grassington, Thornton-le-Dale). Even of more convenience to us, having an electric car, was a high speed charging station within 15 minutes drive and always on our route back to the Inn. Staff were great, especially the owner, Chris. They made us feel very welcome. Room was clean and comfortable with a big tv, unusual for such a place. Food was excellent along with the service. Nothing really springs to mind. I would highly recommend the Bay Horse Country Inn without any hesitation to anyone thinking of staying there.

The room is clean and comfortable, the pub has wonderful food available, and a landlord who loves sharing his knowledge ,edge about his region It’s isolated, a good location for exploring the countryside but be aware it is isolated. It was perfect for us,

- Julia (6/5): A night in Rainton - The owner and staff were very friendly and helpful.
Bed was comfy and got a good night sleep.
Freshly cooked hot food served quickly Being charged twice for this room!!!!
I’ve just checked my credit card bill, and I’ve noticed that I was charged and paid for this room on the 18th Sept 2025, but the owner insisted that I was to pay for the room in person according to the notes that came with the booking, when I paid for my evening meal, so I’m now not sure who I need to approach to get a refund of the double payment.
Although they attempted to accommodate my garlic allergy, I did suffer from an allergic reaction, resulting in the swelling of my tongue which needed medical attention.
The water pressure of the shower was pretty poor, making showering longer to rinse off the soap suds.
