Guest Reviews
- Peter (6/5): - Excellent for parking and walking distance to town
- Kelly (10/5): Lovely guest house - Very friendly and helpful. had a very pleasant stay, will stay again ๐
- Naghmeh (8/5): - Very kind owner. Every thing was good. Affordable. Only stayed the night. Univercity visit. Chose non meat breakfast. It was very good
- Andrew (10/5): - Clean room,freindly staff.I would stay here again.
- Colin (8/5): - Room was clean and comfortable, breakfast was good and staff was friendly and accommodating.
- paul (10/5): - All good
- Paul (10/5): Excellent stay - Had a fantastic stay, owner very polite and friendly, would definetly stay again
- Coral (6/5): - Owner was charming and we got on well. Bedding and towels were v clean. The breakfast room looked more modern but I didn't use it. Overall, carpets & furnishings were dated. However I would stay there again. My friend's son has had a massive stroke & is in a care home just around the corner, so suitable to be in the area
- w r (8/5): Football trio - Nice clean place good location good breakfast
- Deirdre (10/5): - Great valur for money, enjoyable stay.
- Asher (10/5): - Good
- mark (6/5): - Advertised with a bath, but had an electric shower.
- Wendy (8/5): - Parking was limited to 3 narrow spaces at the rear of the guesthouse but there is the option of residents parking in a nearby street (we were given a residents parking permit).
We were in an en-suite room in the basement, with use of the fridge and microwave in the basement kitchen area which was useful. There were a couple of cobwebs in the corners of the room but the shower, toilet, sink and bed were spotless. Breakfast was great, with a varied menu. The dining room was clean and welcoming. The guesthouse was well within walking distance of the Hoe, where we walked for dinner in the evenings. The owner could not have been more welcoming. We would stay there again. For the price we paid we were happy.
- Sarah (10/5): - The service was excellent and we enjoyed a good breakfast. It is convenient for the train station and town.
- Yvonne (6/5): - This is a convenient place for exploring Plymouth,. Top floor shower was pretty cold.
- John (2/5): - Absolutely appalling - if I could give it no stars I would. We booked 2 rooms for 3 nights. Ours was ok but friends was disgusting - shower was mouldy, chair in the room stained with God knows what and room smelt stagnant. So bad they didn't want to stay there so we checked straight out. Now refusing to follow their own refund policy as stated on their website.
Hotels.com no better. Keep referring to a different refund policy, offering nominal compensation in US dollars (not much use as I live in the UK) and last correspondence refers to a different accommodation booked through a different website.
Unbelievably bad customer service from both accommodation and Hotels.com.
- Steve (8/5): - staff were very pleasant and helpful.
- ravi (8/5): Friendly - Excellent
- Verified traveler (2/5): Never again - Awful dirty smelly place needs a good clean and renovation full review on trip advisor
- Stephanie (6/5): - The toilet was on the outside of the room which i was not expecting when i had booked a room with a private bathroom.
The shower also steps onto carpet and there is no exhaust fan and no way to open the window which makes room quite humid when trying to straighten hair. Also concerned also the shower had some mould in it.
The no exhaust fan with the shower being in the room could lead to mould problems in the future.
Otherwise okay
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Good experience and good service. Very helpful!
- Martin (10/5): Lovely guesthouse close to city centre - Lovely guesthouse close to city centre. We felt very welcome and had a lovely stay. We will be back.
- Colin (6/5): - Property is in decent location but needs some investment as itโs dated
- Margaret (8/5): - Small & Friendly
- Verified traveler (8/5): Helpful Staff - Very helpful staff made it easy for me to check in late because of a delayed train.
- Stephane (10/5): - Very nice guest house and very nice host!!!
So very good!!!
- Paul (10/5): Immaculate establishment. - Clean and very peaceful, well mannered staff.
- Paul (10/5): Amazing accommodation. - Amazing place, very peaceful.
- Stephen (10/5): - Met all my expectations for my stay.
Clean, Friendly, Quiet, 5/10 minutes to railway station and City, reasonably priced and would recommend to stay again.
- stacy (10/5): - Very clean and cozy room. The host was super kind and welcoming. Very close to the university and all the main sites. Will definitely be staying here again. Highly recommend.
- Sandra (4/5): - Not what I excepted the room was very tired and in need of repair, there was a canvas that hung very low on a wall the reason being there was a crack in the wall behind this, may I suggest you just repair the wall and not just try to hide it, the bathroom shower was mouldy and again in need of regrouting between the tiles. This guest house is in the middle of student accommodation so at times was very noisey as it was fresher week. Would I stay there again?? NO.
- Kevan (6/5): Need to do better - Whole place was a little grubby. The "restaurant" floor was very sticky to walk on. The toilet seat was loose and the shower did not drain quick enough to cope with the water.
The room was extremely hot and so the window had to be open allowing in a lot of traffic and pedestrian noise until very late at night
- Stefan (10/5): - Very close to town centre, train station and attractions
- Wendy (8/5): Pleasant stay - As a mum visiting her son at university this is ideally situated
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Comfortable bed.Parking space outside was a bonus.Toilet outside room.Noisy from road outside
- Coral (8/5): Great location for the station and university - Really great stay. Ideal for the station and university. Spotlessly clean. Very comfy bed and nice en suite. Lots of stairs to the room under the eaves but worth it for the view
- CHARLES (10/5): - Very pleasant owner and superb breakfast. Food was piping hot and good choice.
- Marta (10/5): Great place - Very good location, very central. The room was small but it has everything that I needed, it was clean and I will get coffee and biscuits every day. The staff was very friendly and kind.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Helpful and friendly host, comfortable ned, good wifi, and a decent location. All at a good price. Little strange in that the toilet, though exclusively for my use, was accessed trough a separate entrance.
- Kevin (8/5): - Convenient location close to rail station (10 min walk) Hotel is close to Univ area and 20 min walk to key sites in town (Barbican, Hoe Park, and Drake Circus). Host is very helpfu and made a couple of very helpful recommendations on places to visit for day outings - Mount Edgecombe by ferry and Looe by train from Plymouth.
- Stephenie (10/5): Great experience - I received a warm welcome. Everything was very clean with crisp white cotton bedding. Good breakfast cooked as you want it. Perfect location for the station and university
- Marzena (10/5): - Very clean and quiet place, very nice. Well located, close to everything.
- Kirsten (10/5): Lovely guesthouse - Very nice owners clean and comfortable would stay again
- Bryan (10/5): - Quite exceptional friendly owners . Ross and Mul make you feel at home straight away. Excellent breakfast particularly porridge.
- Nancy&Jody (10/5): Wonderful, caring hosts and comfy rooms - We recently found ourselves in Plymouth on an emergency trip related to our student who was studying abroad at Plymouth University. When she was hospitalized, our hosts, Ross and Mul, went out of their way to help in many ways. They rearranged bookings to allow us to stay as long as we needed, loaned us money for a cab, and demonstrated their care and concern as we waited for her release from the hospital. They were truly a Godsend during our child's medical emergency!
The rooms are also beautiful, comfy, and clean. A wonderful place to stay!
- Robert (10/5): Great guesthouse - Host and place were amazing and friendly. Would stay again!
- Ryan (10/5): Pleasant Stay with Friendly Owners - I had a lovey stay at Gallery Guesthouse, from arrival Mul and Ross were friendly and helpful, paying an interest in my plans for the week, and talking me through how to get around the city. The house is well kept and spacious and although I had the smallest room I never had a problem with space, with desk space to work at and all the amenities I needed for my stay. The house is conveniently located within walking distance of both the train station and the city centre making is ideal for getting to work or just going shopping. I would recommend Gallery to anyone wanting to visit Plymouth and I would definitely stay again if I return. Thanks both!
- Tania (10/5): - Amazing friendly owners.
- Mellita (10/5): Friendly place - They host were truly nice they took care of us so well they even looked after our bags when we had to leave later on. As well the room were so clean, great distance from everything such as the university or the shopping centre. They also provide maps and even local knowledge of what we were able to see near by.
- Marc (10/5): Warm welcoming - Really friendly environment, felt at ease and at home, loved my stay.
- Gary (10/5): Friendly helpful owners. - From booking, checking in no problems. A few car parking spaces around the back on a first come first serve basis. Ross and Mul the owners are very friendly , they like to get to know you and they have good ideas where to eat and sight see if that's what you want to do. Breakfast is excellent cooked to order and plenty of choice with free flowing tea and coffee. Location is very close to everything for getting about. Our room was very clean and tidy, personally would of liked a bigger bed a little on the small side for us but we have a large bed at home probably that's why. A big thank you to Ross and Mul for a enjoyable few nights stay. Highly recommend.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Highly recommended. Will go again and book early. - I booked a standard single room. Although room is small, it is clean and comfortable, bright and warm. The host is very friendly and helpful.
- Rita (10/5): - The Gallery Guesthouse was comfortable, the owners are very friendly and they helped in making my stay at the guesthouse quite comfortable. Very friendly couple.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - So handy for the University site (across the road) but peaceful. The owners make you feel looked after and their good breakfast and kind attention set you up nicely.
- Roderick (10/5): Excellent - Welcoming, comfortable and spotless. The owners were good humoured and helpful. The room was great.
Breakfast a delight - a large choice of excellent food, beautifully prepared and lovely coffee. The proximity to the railway station is a huge plus.
I recommend it without hesitation.
- Debbie (10/5): Excellent Guesthouse & welcoming Couple - I would highly recommend the Gallery Guesthouse. Mul and Ross went out of their way to make sure you were comfortable and happy. Such a lovely couple and a lovely guesthouse. I will definitely be back. Thank you both for welcoming me to your home. Best wishes
- JN (10/5): Great choice for Plymouth - Ross and Mul are wonderful hosts! I am especially grateful for Ross taking the time to help plan my day in Plymouth. The location is very convenient to the Plymouth Railway Station, shops, restaurants, and attractions. Wonderful, clean, guesthouse. I hope to visit again soon!
- Chelsea (10/5): it was a short walk from the railway station - It was a short walk from the railway station. The room was clean and comfortable. The bed was comfortable and I slept well, whereas I have never had that before where I have stayed. The couple running the place were very friendly and helpful. Would stay there again.
- Russell (10/5): lovely hotel close to town - close to town staff were great breakfast was great
- Verified traveler (8/5): Really a Bed & Breakfast - We enjoyed staying at the Gallery Guesthouse. Mul and Ross Bannerman were excellent hosts--suggesting places to eat and making reservations for us. Breakfast was well prepared. Gallery Guesthouse is really bed and breakfast, instead of a hotel. It was a very pleasant stay.
- Sharon (10/5): Wonderful Stay in Plymouth - It was a wonderful stay with great hospitality and warmth. Breakfast was delicious and generous. I would come back to stay with this wonderful couple who made me so welcomed. Room had the creature comforts and the bathroom was clean. The place was located on a quiet street near the university and was convenient to get to town.
- Kate (8/5): Most helpful hosts - The guesthouse is very handy for the train station (and Plymouth Uni), and only a short walk into the city centre and then on to the waterfront.
Super friendly and helpful hosts - excellent at coming up with ideas of things to do if/when your plans change, they take the trouble to research things on the internet & print out information that might be useful.
There is a choice of cooked breakfast available (always nice if you've been travelling a while and want a change from the standard full english!) Plus self service cereals etc.
I had a single room with private amenities - there was actually a shower in the room, and a private toilet on the landing. Room was small but bright & functional with very clever use of the limited space available.
Guesthouse is on a reasonably busy street (for Plymouth!) but even with a room at the front I think street noise would only be an issue if you wanted to sleep with the window open.
Good wifi. Excellent value for money.

Room Tip: Request a lower floor room if stairs are an issue. Rooms at the rear will be quieter.
- David (10/5): Good location in Plymouth - I chose this guesthouse as it is located within a few minutes walk of the railway station. The owners Ross & Mul take a lot of care to welcome guests, starting with a personal email confirmation about check-in arrangements. They made me very welcome and make a great breakfast! Chatting with them and other guests at breakfast made a great start to the days there and they have lots of tips for places to visit. They were very helpful in doing an early breakfast one day, and looking after my bag on the last day so I could use the time and just collect the bag on the way to the station in the afternoon.
- Maria (6/5): Excellent location - Mull & Ross are fantastic. The room is quiet small and the electric shower is very loud.People are friendly and breakfast is very good.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - It was amazing
- aaron (10/5): Well located with off street parking - Good place to stay if your not just visiting the barbican and the hoe, off street parking was good to have, you get a bit of traffic noise as its a busy road. Room was lovely and clean, had everything you needed, bed for me was too soft but the duvet and pillows were very cosy. The owners were fantastic people, very helpful and great to talk to. Would stay again
- Verified traveler (10/5): Excellent - Beds were comfy the rooms were clean. The breakfast was tremendous. Ross and mul couldnt do enough for me when I was dwn visiting my daughter. Will definitely be back to see them. Thanks for the rolls and drinks for my journey home to Fife
- Hussein (10/5): The Guesthouse was like a home away from home. - The owners were very welcoming on arrival and made sure that all my needs were met.
I shall definitely be staying there again. The Guesthouse is very close and convenient for visiting
Plymouth University and is also just a short walk into town and the huge range of shops.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Excellent guest house - Situated close to the uni, 5 mintestinal walk to the shopping g centre and just over 15 to the barbican. Friendly owners , excellent breakfast and a very well presented guesthouse, clean tidy well kept. Parking on site or a voucher provide f
or nearby road parking, can't speak highly enough about our stay
- Verified traveler (10/5): Welcoming, comfortable and convenient - Gallery Guesthouse was well located for train/bus arrival/departure, was very well maintained and the hosts were welcoming and accommodating. Lovely breakfasts cooked to order! I very much liked my single room under the eaves with a fine view towards the harbor. Have already recommended it to friends.
- Guest (8/5): Welcoming & friendly staff - A warm welcome from lovely people in a comfortable and clean hotel. Great location with some free parking at rear.

- marie (10/5): great place to stay - Lovely guest house clean, friendly. Ten minute walk into Plymouth 2 minute walk from the train station . Excellent value for money for a weekend stay or longer.
Will defo stay again
Thank you Molly xx
- Bridget (10/5): - We were staying in Plymouth for our daughter's wedding and the Gallery Guest House was ideal. We were made to feel welcome and the owners were very accommodating eg as a double room wasn't available they converted a twin room, pushing the beds together.
The breakfast was lovely with many combinations offered. Really enjoyed our stay.
- Barbara (10/5): very pleasant B&B with very gracious hosts - I had a terrific room on the top floor. Very comfortable. The breakfast was good. The hotel is 5 minutes from the train station and about 10-15 minutes from the Barbican. The hosts are very gracious. Excellent value.
- Colin (10/5): Touring Train Travel - A wonderful welcome from our hosts at Gallery Guest House. They did everything possible to make our stay perfect. Breakfasts were memorable for the care in presentation, and quality of food; all served with a genuine lively interest in the guests. The location of the Guest House was ideal for access to train station. The daily train journeys formed an essential part of the holiday touring Devon and Cornwall. Also, a short walk to Plymouth centre and amenities. Highly recommended accommodation and proprietors which made the vacation memorable.
- Alexandra (10/5): - I had a great stay here. The hosts were so welcoming and friendly.
- Jayne (10/5): Outstanding B&B - Reason for my stay was to undertake a residential course at Plymouth University, the B&B was like home from home. The proprietors were kind, friendly and accommodating, they made me feel so welcome it was like staying with friends. When I attend Plymouth University again I won't be staying anywhere else! The house is across the road from the University campus which was perfect for me and a short 5 minute walk to the train station.
- Chris (8/5): Nice B&B, would recommend to others. - The B&B is really nice and the owners are very friendly and helpful. The room I stayed in was a single room and the shower was inside the room which was a little strange and the toilet was separate in the corridor, so not really "en-suite", but it was fine. I would definitely stay again and recommend to others, but maybe next time I would ask for one of the rooms with an en-suite.
The breakfast was great and the service was always with a smile, thank you :)
- Verified traveler (10/5): nice hotel - A good hotel which is closed by Plymouth uni. The decoration is high quality.
- pamela (10/5): highly recommended - enjoyed it very much
very helpful owners
excellent location close to station and within walking distance of centre and hoe
