Guest Reviews
- hollyk275 (6/5): not that clean, hard bed , great location - We stayed 1 night and found the staff to be friendly and the view/location was fantastic. Easy walk to the port area and across from a park. We had a great view from our room as well. The room however was not great, the shower did not have a door or curtain so when you showered water went all over the floor, toilet etc. The bed is very firm and we did not find it comfortable at all, the pillows were not great either. The room also wasn't very clean, pieces of food, etc on the carpet. There wasn't an ironing board in the room but there was a mini fridge which was convenient. There were also a few hangers provided to hang clothes. We wouldn't stay here again or recommend.
- EL91sv (10/5): Very nice style and a super warm and friendly welcome - I arrived at Ermitage after some time spent in Byblos, which is 100 m from this hotel, without any special expectation but they really made my short holiday very nice.
I stayed there Monday 25 night and the 2 blond receptionist at my arrival were very friendly and one of the 2 helped me with a big large bag cause they have no elevator. This is not common as it is a “standard hotel” not a 5 stars but they did it like the best hotel
The style of their bar and breakfast room inside is AMAZING (called LE TIGRR) and outdoor you can enjoy the most beautiful view on the the village of St Tropez
They have a parking (you have to leave them the keys)
At the bar I bought cigarettes with credit card and they has been super nice there too
I will come back in case I will need something easy but nice and walking distance to Byblos, Cucina Byblos, Cave du Roy, and all my fav places
- Man_from_La_Manche (8/5): Unusual hotel, well worth a stay - The standard room we were in was painted black, as if to emphasise that it was a place to sleep in at night, not to spend the day 'home from home'. No significant frills in the room except a brand new air conditioning unit. (that worked well). Good sound insulation meant you didn't hear the late night bar's loud music. Frankly, all you need is a loo, a shower, and a bed, and a room at the right temperature, and that's what was provided. I can't remember if there was room service, a TV, minibar, ironing board, hairdryer, shoe-shiner, ice machine, tea/coffee maker, etc. I didn't care.
The hotel is in an excellent hillside location, with an easy walk into town. Parking nearby is pretty tricky. If only we'd known there was free valet parking (& free parking), we would have driven into the hotel forecourt in the first place. Anyway, when we arrived on foot the valet happily took our keys to fetch our car from a paid space 30 yards down the road..
Generally, there was always a pleasant and good humoured welcome (from 2 or 3 staff at entrance and reception).
The restaurant/bar (Le Tigrr) appears to be run as an entirely separate business, albeit sharing the hotel's main entrance. However, the hotel will no doubt pull some strings to get you a table if you want to eat there (good quality it is too). Its junglesque greenery surrounded dining/drinking terrace has excellent views over the harbour. The Tigrr therefore adds a lot more magic to the hotel than it would otherwise have.
I would have given 5 stars, but for the following:
1) Shower bracket broken (just for handset, so top-down rose was fine).
2) Domain 'ermitagehotel.fr' non-functional - a bit worrying (working now).
3) Google street view depicted building site - information would have been reassuring.
- charleswV3202UQ (2/5): Terrible hotel, have basically stolen money from me - I booked this hotel months before my trip, then decided to shorten my trip about a month before (well within the cancellation period). They asked if they could only refund me when I got there, I agreed, when I tried to get my c.£700 refund when I checked out they said it was not possible to do it then and they would do it within a week. Since then it has been 3 months of me calling them and them saying they will transfer and they never do. I call them weekly. They are just hoping I go away.
You get what you pay for with this hotel (cheap, no frills) and I accept that, but they have basically stolen money from me which is truly wrong. Don’t get conned yourself.
- borisp74 (10/5): A soft party hotel - Amazing place for people looking for a fun crowd, live music and night activity. Located right in the center, this hotel is like a day nightclub. The staff is really kind and playful.
Note that the room are very small and packed. Also don’t forget you earplugs because the party and noise goes on strong at night.
This is not a place for call and rest … but you will have a very good time if you are in a social mood
- kerimk613 (2/5): Compelled to Comment. - Aircondition barely worked, minibar broke down, very dimly lit room, no curtains. Bathroom reminiscent of 1970s. For all this, you pay exorbitant rates. Positive ? terrace with a view, smiley (but unapologetic) staff.
- 661carolinep (2/5): THIEVES!!! stole 25k worth of jewellery from my safe - They stole 2 gold/diamond rings and 2 necklessaces from the safe in my room! no one else except from the staff couldve accessed my room. I complained to the police and the hotel guardian didnt seem to take this matter seriously and refused to check the cameras to investigate who came into my room. TAking advantage of the fact that I was a 21 year woman alone. Do not go there!!
- AnastasiaBieVH (2/5): Sinister rooms.. angosciante - Very small rooms for the price, all dark and claustrofobics, is not a hotel is more like a boarding house.. needs a urgent refresh.. for the same price you can find a lot better in town.. restaurant is cool though
- stackboys (6/5): 2 days in Saint Tropez - Right now trip advisor has this rated at 3 stars and I'd say they are spot on. Some of these reviews are a bit harsh. What did they expect for the price? Its St. Tropez and they were being cheapos! Staff is ok, patio/terrace is awesome. Draws a big crowd of fancy folks for drinks at sunset nightly! Absolutely perfect location. Easy walk to the port, and a quick drive to the beach. Importantly on the "good" side of the beach traffic.
- pdardel (4/5): Overpriced - This hotel is well located and has a nice terrace, but rooms are tiny with very basic furniture. Bathroom is outdated, microscopic or directly in the tiny room.
Avoid this overpriced hotel if you want to enjoy your stay in saint tropez
- TR01AN (2/5): BAD - This hotel probably it's not too much expensive, but the Rooms are very small, in the hall and inside the room there is a smell of terrific food, the shower is really unconfortable and the bed are bad!
BAD experience.
Just one night and fortunately we've changed!
- stevenw966 (2/5): Shortest stay ever - We are in St. Tropez for a wedding weekend and have been looking forward to returning to one of our favourite spots for this weekend for months. Our hosts suggested the Hermitage as one of two or three possibilities and we duly booked, expecting at least a reasonable standard for a landmark hotel in this town.
The location is beautiful perched as it is on top the hill, above the Place de Lices. That, however, is all the good news that I can report as we didn't manage to stay longer than the half an hour it took to check in, take possession of our room and shake off our depression at the sheer awfulness of the fittings and the state of cleanliness, for which even the breathtaking view of the bay from the window could not even begin to compensate.
I have stayed in some pretty lousy hotels in my time, but I have rarely been so disappointed as I was three hours ago checking into the Ermitage. The entrance is dank and cramped, the reception is a mess and the whole place looks as if it had last been cleaned, to say nothing of renovated, decades ago.
The stairway up to the first floor is dank, dark and uninviting and the room - ours was Nr. 12 at the end of the floor - was a joke. Or would have been if we we hadn't paid almost €200 a night (off-season) for the privilege. A ghastly bed - no fittings or bedhead, just a mattress on a block. One bedside lamp, a horrible rickety glass table held together with sellotape and hardly enough room to swing a cat. a restaurant that is evidently shut on the weekneds (today is Thursday, but what the hell) and a staff who really don't seem to care much one way or the other, but in fairness, we weren't there long enough to really find out what the level of service might have been.
We couldn't wait to escape and rather like the man who gnawed his arm off to escape from being caught in a mountain fissure, we wrote our fully prepaid three days off to exoperience and de-camped to the infinitely more beautiful, friendly and admittedly more expensive Pan de Palais, down the road.
If you are looking for a delightful, well-appointed hotel in which the public and private rooms are tended to with care and love, then avoid this hotel at all costs.
- jorrep (8/5): Quirky and well-located place - Nestled on top of the St Tropex village, The Ermitage has developed into an attractive hotspot for St Tropez travelers. Rooms are simple, you actually live in a bathroom with stone walls and the shower just beside the bed. But it is great fun, and the famous Asian Tigrr restaurant in the garden is a renowned party location (the sound proofing works well, I can tell). Private parking in the gravel outside the entrance, attentive staff.
- soniam275 (2/5): Worst services ever - We came to have a drink before dinner elsewhere. The view is incredible but it is the only thing that is appreciable.
The terrasse was full and the hostess said we should be sitted in few minutes.
We had drinks while waiting, from that moment, we had been very negliged. No one came back to check us, if we anything else, offer almonds/snacks,... We asked several times about our table and we have been told few minutes again and again.
After one hour, we had to leave to the restaurant. When the waiter came with the bill, we complained and he asked his manager to come.
The first thing the manager said without hearing us is "I am not offering anything, I can't give any discount".
We said we are not asking for charity but just consideration, we felt negliged and unrespected. She kept on saying the same thing and without feeling sorry at all, or even comprehensive. She was having a snobish attitude.
I travel a lot for work and holidays, I have never seen a service like this and definitely not recommending this place. There are so many nice views everywhere in Saint-Tropez with nice servicing people.
- juliiaf (10/5): A great place with an amazing overview on Provence landscape. - We have spent an evening with friends in the restaurant. The landscape overview is the main advantage, service is nice. The restaurant was full and mohito was great. The only strange momemnt happened to us there was that we had a Chinese waiter who did not understand from the beginning what we have ordered and in the end of the evening some man came to our table indroducing himself as a magician offering his services. I suppose that it's unacceptable in a hig level restaurant. In general the place is highly recommended. The location is in the city center of St. Tropez. Parking was very difficult to find in 40 min.
- Milan011 (8/5): Cool place to watch sunset - Hmm, I am bit surprised that Ermitage is getting such mixed reviews. I suppose, this is the matter of wrong expectation.
I have not stayed as a hotel resident at Ermitage. I went there with locals to enjoy dinner, have great wine and watch sunset.
Ermitage is very quirky place and you either love it or hate it. I loved it. Décor is very unique with art work for sale. Usually photography. There is Nice deck and loads of records. Huge fire place and nice bar.
Outside, there are plenty of tables to enjoy the view.
In my opinion, service was excellent and so was the food. Highly recommended if you want to avoid hustle and bustle of port.
- markjoseph015 (10/5): Great spot - Had drinks and some nibbles there and the view and service were amazing. Great spot for a romantic date or night out with friends. The location is great as you can see the roofs of Saint Tropez and the atmosphere is very relaxing. The food is Asian inspired- dim sims, spring rolls, sushi rolls etc... It's a pretty unique venue and I would definitely recommend whoever that goes to Saint Tropez to check it out.
- Carol (8/5): Great hotel for something a little different. - Funky hotel with lots of character. Cheapest rooms are small but cute. Note that weekend room rates will increase.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Great for party - bad for recreation - The hotel is perfectly located within reach of St. Tropez centre and has a great lounge with view over the bay. The style is more like a club. Although very expensive, this lounge is well frequented which results in late night parties. This is great if you want to party but bad if you want to sleep. The staff was very friendly and gave us a different room when I could not sleep but this did not help much. The rooms are ok money for value with the particularity that the transparent shower cabin is directly opposite to the bed - a great conversation starter if you share the room. In summary this is more a club with some rooms to rent.
- Marion (8/5): Parfait !
- Verified traveler (8/5): A room w a great view - Great little boutique hotel, with an emphasis on "little". The rooms are tiny, the tiniest I've ever seen, but the viewa are incredible and the hotel and restaurant are charming. If you're adventurous, don't need a lot of amenities (or any at all), and want something fun & interesting, this is a great choice.
- syl (2/5): The worst hotel! - Trust me, don't stay there.
I wrote a very detailed review and Expedia make me re-write it even though I didn't use any profanity or pricing or even photos.
So all I want to say is that this hotel is horrible in many ways.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Great Location - Great location and good price for St Tropez standards. The room was comfortable and the hotel in general nice, but the selling point is definitely the location.
- Carlos (10/5): St Tropez Coolest place! - Great experience for young people of all ages, very cool and unique on it's charming location. We love it!
- Verified traveler (10/5): Impeccable service, great location - Wonderful hotel, staff are just brilliant, nothing too much trouble. There is a beautiful terrace with great views and great location- just a breathe away from the centre. Really recommended.
