Guest Reviews
- Robert Charles (9/5): -
- Marshall (10/5): - Unusual exceptional place. Loved the hosts
- Claire (10/5): Charming accommodation with every comfort and a warm and attentive welcome. - The property was very peaceful yet in walking distance of town. The accommodation was separate to the main house and I really liked the comfortable and traditional decor. There was a sitting room and very comfortable separate bedroom and I liked the kitchen corner with a microwave and everything needed to make a simple meal. I had a very warm welcome from the owners who were delightful. The main house is lovely and Danish in style. This is a really special place. I liked everything
- Bret (9/5): Wish I could have had more time in my room! - Location proprietors
European feel.
- Karen (8/5): Lovely time. We would stay there again - It felt like a cozy small home. Bedroom didn’t seem to ever be comfortably warm.
- Jane (8/5): Nice people and walkable to town - The owner was very kind and the location was walkable to town. The double bed was against a slanted wall which made it difficult to get in or out of bed without hitting one’s head, but there was a queen sofa bed so I slept there.
- Uentroper (9/5): Super Zimmer, Ruhe garantiert, nette Gastgeber. - Sehr nette Gastgeber, interessantes Zimmer im dänischen Stil. Etwas abgeschieden.
- Katherine (9/5): Nice place to stay, nice people, nice views. - Staff was friendly and attentive. We felt like we were family staying in a guesthouse out back. Views from the property are very nice. Very comfortable for a couple and their toddler. Only thing I would wish for was a tiny container of dish soap (not hand soap) so that I could rinse the bowls/cups we used.
- Diana (10/5): Felt well cared for by proprietor in cozy, homey suite. - The setting was lovely and our accommodations reminded us of a favorite aunt’s home. There was nothing we didn’t like.
- Meena (9/5): - Cosy apartment, very spacious, great location short walking distance into town!
- Simona (8/5): -
- PamP1676 (10/5): Relaxing stay in Ferndale - We had a wonderful experience at the inn, staying above the garage. Quaint, warm, comfy, just nice to relax and enjoy Ferndale. Owners are very nice, location is close to town, and the experience is different from staying in a hotel. Like staying with family!
- Robert (10/5): - Clean, quaint and excellent attention by owners.
- Jim (8/5): -
- Krystyna (10/5): - Adorable little apartment with kitchy decor The driveway is quite steep
- Kathleen (10/5): Spacious, homey and comfortable~ - Having just packed up from an 8-day camping trip, the sweet, comfy and very private living room and bedroom suite above the garage was perfect for me. The rooms were very clean, there was plenty of hot water, the towels were new and soft and the Dish TV service excellent--plus the hosts kind and attentive. I hope to return to charming Ferndale one day, and enjoy staying at the old inn once again.
- amy (10/5): - Everything. Nothing.
- Adrian (10/5): -
- Martha (10/5): Really special place, and I am looking forward to coming again! - We were attending a major car show in the area, and this location was perfect for us. It was totally private, cozy and quaint, and had tons of personality with floral highlights and everything we needed to feel at home. They were so welcoming and kind. We enjoyed watching mama deer and their fawns right outside the door. The view was amazing. It was extremely quiet. The bed was firm, which was perfect for us. Plenty of hot water, towels, extra pillows and soft blankets. Don’t even think of trying to get this place next year at this time! I will fight you for it! Thank goodness there are two suites available…loved it! Not one thing!
- Kim (10/5): A must stay if you are in or around Ferndale - Nice, unique and private location a couple minutes walk from the main street in Ferndale. The couple that owns the property were super friendly. Lots of deer, hawks and small birds around the balcony and the atmosphere made this stay on a roadtrip from Seattle to San Diego a perfect resting place. The bed was a little small, but so comfortable we slept really well anyway
- Angela (10/5): - Absolutely loved my stay here, just a perfectly cozy (but spacious!) spot.
- Teresa (9/5): Superb - Great location. Short walk to town and short drive to the beach. Very private It met and exceeded my expectations
- Eduardo (10/5): Exceptional - Beautiful stay in a cozy place. My partner and I enjoyed our time in Ferndale and the Danish Inn. Will come back again for an extended stay since this is an absolute gem.
- Traci (10/5): Ye Olde Danish Inn a hidden treasure. - It was cozy, comfortable, and so cute. The views from the deck alone were amazing. The decor was darling and made it really easy to settle in and enjoy. Everything! The deck, nice size bathroom, and windows seat were some of my favorites.
- Francisco (6/5): fine - The location was gorgeous There were too many bugs in the bathroom, and the host was aggressive in responding to my messages.
- Diane (8/5): Comfortable Stay - Nice welcome from the hosts.
Cozy and warm apartment.
Comfortable seating.
Good location.
Had everything we needed. Could use a more thorough cleaning. I recommend a new mattress.
- Bryan (10/5): Best place to stay in Ferndale! This was our third time saying here, and we will definitely return! -
- Michael (10/5): Great place in a great little town. - Great place in a great little town.
- Sam (8/5): Very good -
- Vicki (8/5): Very good -
- Mary (10/5): A very comfortable and interesting place and owners. - There wasn't a breakfast. Steps were a little slippery. A one cup coffee pot would have been conveinent.
- Amelia (10/5): Sweet & Cozy Getaway - The Family Room was so cozy and sweetly decorated, with feminine florals seemingly covering every inch of the place. The pretty fireplace is only decorative (due to safety), but the heater worked very well, and it was so comfortable to curl up with books on the comfy couch or reading nook under one of the sunny windows. The inn has a kind innkeeper and a lot of nice character that makes you feel "at home". I look forward to returning someday just to relax in this charming space, and also enjoy the lovely patio when it's not raining! The bed was a bit small (a Full, just as advertised), but since I am a small girl traveling solo, it was totally fine. If my husband had been staying with me, we would not have both fit though.
- Gail (8/5): - The owners were very sweet and accommodating. The room was great. The heater was noisy, but I closed the bedroom door and put my earplugs in. The handle on the shower was hard to operate. I would suggest more lighting going down the stairs to my car. But overall, I thought the place was charming and saw a doe and her FAWN in the morning. It also would’ve been nice to have some ice in the refrigerator.
- Kent (10/5): The best place on my trip... - Very private, near the woods... nothing...
- Ethan (9/5): Superb - Perched upon a little hill overlooking Ferndale, we found this gem, to our delight, quiet and just a stone’s throw from town.
- Fotine (10/5): Exceptional -
- William (9/5): Superb - The owners were friendly and helpful. The room was spacious, clean, and comfortable. Location is a block from the Main Street which was nice, as well. N/a
- Michael (10/5): Exceptional - The owners are very friendly and helpful. The accommodation was comfortable, clean, and quiet. The location is perfect to stroll into Ferndale with restaurants and shops nearby. Would love to stay again. Nothing
- Lynn (9/5): Superb - Private, quiet, close to Ferndale.
- Lori (9/5): Superb - I enjoyed my stay at this location. The property is beautiful with flowers, fruit trees and a great view of the valley. The owners were friendly and helpful. The bed is very comfy. The apartment is up a flight of stairs so not ideal if you are unable to climb stairs.
- Erica (6/5): - Cute room, dirty shower.
- Alan (9/5): Superb -
- Elaine (10/5): Comfortable and charming place to spend a weekend. - Adorable guest cottage in a serene setting. The signage to find the place is difficult to see at night.
- Susan (10/5): - Very Kind hosts with a lovely property. Perfectly suited for a nice stay that was welcoming and something special. The town was a treasure.
- Tammy (10/5): Nice, private, location, but close to everything - Nice couple run inn Had a little trouble finding it
- donald (10/5): - The property is exceptionally quiet and quaint.
- Owen (10/5): Great time love to go back - Very quiet comfortable and homey
- Llwoods (9/5): Quiet and Relaxing - The suite was very spacious and clean. It's located on a hill and very quiet. It's the perfect walking distance into town.
- Don (10/5): - Beautiful natural setting, excellent view of the valley below. Owners were cordi
- Beverly (10/5): - Such a quaint property! The owners really take care of the unit, the main house and the property. You can walk to town (up and down a very steep driveway). Will stay here again if in the area.
- Scott (10/5): Not to miss! - A delightful upper floor danish cottage with spectacular views in a wonder victorian hamlet. Great hosts!
- Kristen (10/5): A cozy little cottage in a lush landscape - We loved this wonderful private little cottage, the location is private and comfortable with a beautiful view. The hosts were very friendly and responsive if we needed anything. We liked the atmosphere of the room and felt it was very cozy. The only issue we had was one of our party is over 6 feet tall which made the beds a little small for him.
- David (9/5): Superb -
- bruce (8/5): - Peaceful homey setting and owners helpful.
- Karen (9/5): Very cute self contained flat - We stayed in the flat above the garage. It is self contained and private. Very comfortable.
- Rodger (8/5): Pleasant stay - Nice Danish theme to the property. - Friendly hosts. Fairly close to Main St stores although they close real early. Check in took too long.
- Ying (10/5): - It’s a very well maintained place with unique danish style. Hosts are very friendly and thoughtful. The place is as clean and comfortable as home.
- Loretta (8/5): Eclectic & charming ! - Property is very close to shops & restaurants.
Sits above the town with a gorgeous view.
Beautiful setting, peaceful and quiet.
Good WiFi, tv adequate and lots of reading material.
Loved the built in seat below the window- slept well there! Room is a little dated. Sofa bed not comfortable
Clean but did notice cob webs
- Iris (10/5): Wonderfull retro stay on quiet farm - Wonderfull retro stay on a quiet farm with very friendly owners. We enjoyed the decor and ambiance which fitted the nice town of Ferndale. Wifi is poor
- John (10/5): - The hosts were very kind and gracious!
Thank you.
- Flint (10/5): Exceptional -
- Patricia (8/5): Very good -
- 958LauraH (10/5): Charming Hideaway - This comfy, cozy place is hidden away in a beautiful wooded area of Ferndale. We had an upstairs apartment with fireplace, microwave, toaster and fridge. We also enjoyed a large deck with lovely views of the surrounding areas. Good coffee was provided. The only down side was the slanted ceiling in the bedroom. It was a bit cramped for tall people.
- Malinda (10/5): For a tranquil/serene, welcome to nature stay, it’s perfect! Ferndale is amazing♥️ - Check-in was smooth and easy owner/staff was very hospitable… Amazingly nice! The location is quiet and serene, the unit we stayed in, was clean, warm, and had everything we needed. The only thing that I did not like, was having to leave.
For some the stairs up to the unit we stayed in may not be ideal for us. It wasn’t a problem at all.
- Jacques (9/5): Lovely place near town - The location is great, very quiet yet within walking distance of town. The place is large and cosy, with many little details that make you feel like home. The bed size is on the small side, both in length and width.
- Tami (8/5): Very peaceful and the hosts were very kind and friendly - The property was beautiful !! The cottage was really comfortable and adorable. The Deer that liked to came to play on the grounds were just wonderful. We really enjoyed our stay here and hope to make a return trip It was well maintained and tucked away from any noise or bright lights
- Dan (10/5): Exceptional -
- James (10/5): Great town, comfy flat - Very comfortable flat above the garage. Fridge and microwave, but no cooktop or kitchen sink. Very close to town with some good places to eat. Tuya's is excellent and don't miss Poppa Joe's for the local breakfast scene and history lesson. The cemetery is very unique and a short away. Also the beach is close. Resident deer tribe is always close on the property. Great place to stay.
- John (8/5): Very good -
- Pat (10/5): Great stay! - Spacious. Clean. Friendly hosts. All amenities that we needed. A little hard to find but not really an issue
- John (9/5): Very pleasant stay in a small appartment in Ferndale -
- Dylan (9/5): Very nice stay - Fantastic location, incredibly tranquil and very warm welcome. Lots of space for the amount it costs
- 307paulk (10/5): A trip to yesterday - Driving into Ferndale felt like stepping back in time. Our stay began with meeting the owners and talking about motorcycles since we were riding ourselves. Uffe gave us a brief tour and also made a dinner recommendation at Tuya’s Mexican restaurant. It was extremely peaceful and relaxing. Clean room and great amenities.
- Andrea (9/5): Superb - Great location overlooking the quaint town of Ferndale, an easy walk to restaurants and shops. The lodging was comfortable and the Danish theme was a charming environment. I liked the kitchenette but the fridge was older and didn't have a freezer compartment. There is no sink except in the bathroom.
- Laurie (10/5): - A peaceful, pleasant stay!
- Carmela (10/5): - The property was peaceful and beautiful. our unit was comfortable, clean, quiet, and unique.
"Ye Olde Danish Inn" is befitting as a name for the property. Not only is it unique in and of itself, but it is in the small Victorian village of Ferndale, CA.
The staff, (consisting of the husband and wife) built and maintain the property. They are the people we all would love to have as friends.
More than well worth the stay.
- Robert (9/5): Great place. I would most certainly stay there again! - Beautiful, nice owners, plenty of space and close to downtown.
- Taber (10/5): I was looking for peace and quiet and found it. - The privacy and location to town. Lack of salt!
- Christian (10/5): - We had a great time at Ye Olde Danish Inn. The owners were very friendly and accommodating. We'll make sure to book this inn next time we are in Ferndale!
- K7407YAlaureng (10/5): Best view in town. - My sister, nice and I all stayed here and used both rooms. This lovely, small boutique Inn was exactly what we needed to relax and enjoy the quiet and take in the views of this beautiful town.
The owners are kind and helpful and unless we needed them, completely absent.
There is a steep hill to drive or walk to get to the Inn, so I would keep that in mind when looking. The drive is easy, my knee was to irritated to try the climb, but my niece and sister made it just fine.
I would absolutely stay here again and again.
- Joe (10/5): Exceptional - Very private and peaceful
- Marek (9/5): Worth a short visit!💚 - Full of character. Very well thought-through in terms of comfort, privacy etc. Great size of living space! No breakfast, poor percolator coffee. I am glad we had a forgotten cherry pie in the car otherwise you are forced to drive to the center to look for sth to eat first thing you wake up. Also, I felt a little bit like I intruded into the peaceful life of the guy who runs it.
- SCM_VAMD (10/5): Relaxing stay with fawns - My husband and I recently spent a night here on our drive up the coast toward Newport. The owners were friendly and gave us a brief tour of the property, before leaving us to unpack and unwind. The space was lovely with plush towels, Danish-inspired decor, and a private balcony with garden views. We both slept amazingly well - better than at our house! - and awoke to two sets of fawns grazing just outside the windows. Downtown Ferndale is also a short 5 minute walk away and features several nice restaurants, a grocery store, etc. Wish we had planned to stay longer, but hope to return in the future!
- Vitalie-silviu (10/5): Exceptional - Perfect place, it fills like home :)
- Brent (9/5): Superb - Cozy room. Just like staying at grandma's!
- Dennis (10/5): - Later we will review this place after we leave. For now, it is clearly outstanding.
- Jill (9/5): Superb -
- 251shaukata (10/5): Very good place to stay. - The apartment was cozy comfortable and private. It is located a couple of blocks from the main street, so it was extremely quiet at night. We stayed there Friday and Saturday nights. The owners were very friendly; we wish we had more time to chat with them.
- Lloyd (10/5): - Small Inn with only a few rooms. Our room was very spacious and comfortable. There were two deer wandering about the property. Absolutely charming and very comfortable. A
- Ken (9/5): A lovely 3 days in the forest just outside of Ferndale. Deer every morning. - Charming location and hosts. Just enough out of town for peace. Easy to walk to downtown in 10 min or less.
- William (10/5): - We were in a suite located above the garage, which was totally separate from the main house and had a very private feeling. Driving up the steep driveway then walking up to the room meant there were lovely views down over the town as well as into the lush green grounds. The owners were gracious and got us quickly checked in and made sure the room was ready for us. You can easily walk to the main drag of Ferndale with its shops (but you will have to ascend the driveway again!). We'd definitely come back.
- 116ananyan (10/5): Quaint little inn with a beautiful view. - We loved our stay in this quaint little cottage and would love to return next year.
There was an earthquake the day we left around 2:40 am on 12/19 and I’ve tried to call the owners twice to check up on them but no one seems to be picking up the call. The owners are a cute older couple who used to live in San Jose.
They were very gracious to us and the inn was well kept, although old. We hope they are doing well and weren’t affected by the 6.4M earthquake. Please call Ananya back so we can be assured you are doing well.
- Gary (10/5): - The room where we stayed is behind and separate from the main house. We were on the upper floor and one of the mornings, we saw a deer grazing in the back yard and two more grazing in the front as we drove out. Downtown Ferndale is nearby and easily walkable. The owners were very pleasant and accomodating even through we were supposed to be at the Inn before 8 PM the first night and it was 9 PM before we arrived.
We stayed there over the Thanksgiving holiday and the rooms were wam with plenty of blankets available. We would definitely stay there again.
- Margaret (10/5): - Highly recommended.
- Daphne (10/5): Exceptional -
- Richard (10/5): - The Inn was great and the owners friendly and accommodating.
We happened in Ferndale for the annual community-wide yard sale and had a great time talking with people.
- kelley (10/5): - We absolutely loved it here. The grounds are so lovely and private! Surrounded by tall trees and situated on top of a hill you feel so removed and yet town is just 2 minutes away. The unit itself is very spacious and has so much character! The pictures make it look a bit tired, but it's not! It's fresh and clean and comfortable and quaint. The hosts are gracious but nonintrusive and everything worked just fine! We are looking forward to a return trip.
- John (10/5): Exceptional -
- Cox (10/5): I will be back to stay again soon. - The property was amazing ! The cottage was so comfortable an cozy. Couple running property were very welcoming . Nothing
- Ken (8/5): Very good -
