Guest Reviews
- Thor (4/5): - Cheap. Dirty. Bed full of ants. Good location.
This is a step up from a hostel. Location is good for historical district. Room is dirty (e.g., little white specs on the bathroom walls from other people’s tooth brushing - ewwww!). Staff are OK. Tiny ants everywhere. In the bed. Biting.
- Quickben42 (4/5): Totally underwhelming - Let me start by making clear that the expectations of our tour group were that we would be staying in high quality establishments with 4 star standards and indeed, that is what we experienced elsewhere in Chile and Argentina. So, someone cocked up - and having arrived late evening, we agreed to stay that night but really this was not what we expected. In terms of the area, it is certainly lively on a Friday night, which may be what some people look for, with plenty of bars, night clubs and party venues all within a short walk but don't expect any fine dining. The accommodation was less than satisfactory with no fan or air conditioning and with so much noise from the street until the early hours. A hotel safe that could not be locked was highly insecure and we had to place valuables in the safe of one of the other tour party members - wisely as it turned out as there was a robbery in the street just as we returned from a late evening drink. Final straw was the family of ants appearing in the middle of the bathroom floor just before my shower. We did like the continental breakfast and the staff in the hotel that morning did try to make the visit as pleasant as they could.
In summary then, this place needs a significant refurb but if you want to be in a more edgy part of town with lots of vibe then that may suit you. For us, this was simply not what we had paid for or expected.
- David6543 (2/5): Special, but not in a good way - This hotel has two drawbacks - it is in a complete state of neglect on the inside and is in a very grimy part of town. The first two photos show the entrance from the outside and inside. The third photo shows our shower. If you are smart you won't venture as far as a shower. It's the first time in my life that I have showered in flip-flops. We left after the first night and found a much more pleasant hotel further up the hill.
There seem to be some good TripAdvisor reviews of the hotel within the last couple of years. The hotel has been going downhill for a while I would suggest, so I am suspicious. If you still want to stay here, I would suggest just turning up and seeing for yourself before you commit. It's not like it's full or anything!
- JanW48 (4/5): Very poor indeed - Stayed for one night as part of a touring holiday - originally booked for three nights but the whole group was moved on. Outside not particularly welcoming, graffiti on walls, one person on reception so check in took ages. Our room was small and shabby. Basically clean but the towels and bedding were grey and well worn. The so called bar and dining area was empty and I don’t know how one would have eaten or drunk that evening. The one redeeeming feature was the friendly young lady who cooked breakfast in the dining room next morning. Basically the place needs to be brought up to a higher standard if it wants to attract more visitors. I wouldn’t recommend it at all.
- F7638VCnickg (2/5): Hotel from Hell - As you approached from the docks walls covered in graffiti
Enter hotel it looked like a run down coffee shop
One member of staff covering reception and bar
Rooms like a hostel
Dirty cover sheets on bed
Meldew on walls , windows and shower
Window overlooking township houses
Needless to stay we departed immediately to find alternative hotel
How can this be more than two star hostel
I thought it maybe used for other purposes related to docks
- Verified traveler (6/5): - TODO BIEN , PARKING NO TIENE EN EL HOTEL Y ESTA A 5 CUADRAS.
- sandradelgado71 (2/5): Bad Experience!!!!! - The worst service ever seen, please don't go. They don't fullfil any of reservation conditions. They neither offer solutions nor apologize for the unfulfillment. They don't have a close knowledge of client oriented service.
- Gmac8726 (6/5): Okay, but with issues - The overriding issue with this hotel is that it’s in need of maintenance. I’d imagine that 5 years ago it was very nice, but it’s generally tatty and looks worse for wear. We also had an ongoing issue with the shower, which ran hot and cold. We were told that this was an overall hotel problem that couldn’t be fixed, which is odd.
The staff (other than the person on the front desk at night, who didn’t seem to have a clue what she was doing) were nice and did try to help, but they’ve got a tough job. Location is good, although as others have flagged the graffiti on arrival does get your attention.
My overall advice would be to spend an extra $30-50 a night and get something better elsewhere.
- Rosana Rodolfo Pizzolatti (4/5): - Péssimo, hotel sujo e quartos sem conforto
- worldtraveler12345 (2/5): Beware! Dodgy Hotel Operator… - Arrived at hotel for a four night stay, but gentleman at the reception notified me that they would charge me a rate that was more than twice as high as the rate on my confirmed booking.com reservation. I showed the print-out of my reservation but the gentlemen at the reception didn't budge. The whole situation and surroundings of the hotel gave off a bad vibe and the terms of my booking.com reservation allowed me to cancel my reservation on the day of arrival for a small fee (US$54,), which I did.
I moved to another hotel in Valparaiso where I had a wonderful stay, but the staff of Hotel Terranostra reacted in a really nasty way to my cancellation, which prompted me to write this review to warn other potential guest. The hotel refused to return the full reservation amount (minus the reservation fee) as per the terms and conditions of the reservation, claiming that I had left after checking in. It was easy for me demonstrate that this was untrue as I never received a room key, didn't sign any guest registration forms, didn't leave a copy of my passport, or hand over my credit card to the reception staff, which are all customary for checking in at a hotel in Chile. Obviously, my credit card company sided with me and issued a full refund of the reservation amount once I handed over all the documentation relating to this case.
Refusing to refund my reservation amount until my credit card company intervened was not even the worst that happend... During the back and forth correspondence with the hotel during which I asked for the refund of the reservation amount, it became clear that the hotel had used my data they had received from Booking.com, to follow me during my subsequent hotel stays in Chile. This did not only feel creepy. It also is in clear violation of the European data protection rules, which booking.com is subject to, according to my reading of the EU GDPR, and I am currently in the process of raising this case with the relevant authorities in Europe.
All in all, I would want to warn fellow travellers against making a reservation with this property. I ended up being quite lucky as my credit card company resolved this case for me quite quickly and efficiently. If I had used another payment method, or if I had ended up making a reservation with stricter cancellation rules, this might have ended up being a much worse situation. So buyer beware!
- Verified traveler (8/5): Lovely staff - Lovely staff and actually decent location very close to the city center but it is not in a nice area. The staff could not be nicer and the room were pretty nice.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great hotel right in town - Lovely staff in an old bank. Lots of character. Good price and terrific room.
- donald (8/5): great location - excellent location easy walking to major tourist sights and situated on busy thoroughfare linking many restaurants and bars
- Roderick (10/5): Excellent hotel ideally located - When in Valparaiso, there is never another option besides staying at Terranostra. The staff is always warm and welcoming and will do anything within reason to make you comfortable. beyond the service, location is ideal , close to sightseeing, dining and business destinations - regardless of what you're planning to do.
I'll be back!
- Clive (10/5): Good value and friendly - When we checked in we thought the area was a bit dodgy, but when all the shops and cafes lifted their shutters the atmosphere changed completely and it was really buzzy. Our room was good with a comfortable bed. Breakfast was good with a friendly host. The hotel was next to the steps going up to the higher levels. Short walk to some great little bars.
- Aili (4/5): - We booked Hotel Terranostra but was told that the hotel was overbooked and we were sent to another hotel
- Verified traveler (6/5): Last minute booking and met our needs - Didn't have a lot of time to research and this hotel met the need and price point for a last minute overnight stay. The staff spoke English and were helpful.
Main issue is they advertise parking and there was none at this hotel site. Hotel staff directed us to park at the mall which was several blocks away and presented some logistical challenges, but they do validate parking so we were not charged for parking. I
f you are a light sleeper, pay attention to room location. My roommate had a hard time sleeping due to street noise but I was fine. They offer breakfast and coffee was good.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Good location, but the rest is below average. - Great location. Receptionist needs to improve their customer service and job skills. They were not welcoming at the desk. The lady, Maria Jose was unprofessional and very stiff not to help further. The hotel did not provide water unless it was tap water at breakfast. The breakfast was below average. Fruit started to go bad faster than expected. The hotel desk was not putting effort to make it more accomadating.
- kdpauli (10/5): Well located, modern high-service hotel - The location is superb, the room was quiet and well appointed, although the light in the bathroom was a bit dim. The wifi worked well for an international skype call and the breakfast chef was very friendly. The hotel were incredibly helpful and even valet parked and retrieved my car for free!
- M6724OEmaryp (8/5): Great contemporary hotel - My daughter and I stayed here several nights. This is an attractive modern hotel very conveniently located to touristic areas of the port and to the visitor friendly cerros of the city. We stayed in the front and had a good view, but didn’t suffer from noise. The bed was great. Staff are very helpful. Wonderfully, they parked (no charge) our rental car for us and retrieved it when it was time to leave.
- Richard (6/5): Hotel Terranostra, adequate, not great - The hotel is in a grimy, business area, dirty, grafitti filled neighborhood. However, it is a safe area, near to the port, but away from the tourist area, which is a walk and ascensor ride away. When the adjacent ascensor reopens next year, it will be more convenient.
The hotel was slightly grimy and our room was plagued with ants. Despite reporting this to the desk clerk every morning, the ants thrived in the room.
The best part of the stay was breakfast, which was a very adequate buffet served up by Adolfo and his crew. They were friendly, helpful and engaging. Breakfast featured eggs, made to order.
The bathroom was adequate, water pressure was ok, but shower water temp varied quite a bit, and bathroom lighting was dim at best.
On the other hand, this is not USA, and with that in mind, the hotel was decent enough.
- penguin000 (6/5): Free parking and friendly breakfast - The website for this hotel describes itself as high end. I wouldnt agree with that as there are some maintenance and decoration issues that make the place look tired. In particular the shower handle coming off in your hand and peeling paint on the shower ceiling.
Nevertheless staff are friendly, especially the guy serving breakfast in the cafe downstairs which is included. We had a car so the free parking nearby was the real selling point.
The breakfast food was quite good with fruit, juice, hams and cheeses and cakes. Eggs made to order.
The hotel is also at sea level. On first arrival the street and area look tatty but there is more life here in the local bars conpared with pretty but touristy and lifeless bars up the hill. I would recommend enjoying the views early evening and maybe dinner up the hill and then coming down for sone local life
- Peter C (6/5): Hotel Terranostra - central area - Hotel Terranostra is situated in a central part of Valparaiso. There are plenty of restaurants and bars nearby, and also close to a lot of the main attractions.
As the Hotel is situated on a main street it is quite noisy especially at night ( we were there on a weekend which probably didnt help!).
The Hotel is fairly basic, the rooms were a bit rundown and need some maintenance, shower tap for instance didnt work well.
Breakfast is served downstairs in the restaurant which is on the main street. Breakfast is basic, eggs, ham, cheese, fruit and yogurt - help yourself.
Staff very friendly and helpful.
- Thrillhouse73 (6/5): Great staff, suffers due to location - A very neat, boutique hotel with an absolutely fabulous staff. I stayed in the suite, and it was comfortable and unique. Under different circumstances, this could be a higher rated hotel.
We had problems with ants and clogged sinks, along with water pressure problems. The hotel has no A/C.
The main problem is the non stop music and activity surrounding the hotel from other places at night. Many restless nights were spent hearing dance music and intoxicated people on the stairs. It really took away from the experience.
- MareeandPeter (10/5): Modern Hotel with great staff - This hotel is very modern and very clean. Bed was very comfy with lovely duvet. Shower was always hot and nice towels. We had no issues with noise and slept very well. Breakfast was very nice including fried or scrambled eggs made to order and staff at breakfast were so friendly. Great location in the flat part of town so no need to climb stairs at end of every day. Hotel organised transfer to Santiago airport.
- Roderick (10/5): Great hotel centrally located - The staff is always super accommodating and friendly, whether in town for business or pleasure, Terranostra has a great location. Steps away from Valparaiso' tourist attractions, restaurants and night life.
From a work perspective, walking distance to the port and business areas.
Has the charm of boutique hotels that dot the hills of this city, without having to climb stairs or thread complicated streets to get to them.
Frequent guest and will definitely be staying there again when in Valparaiso.
- Bugqueen (10/5): Modern and Contemporary - The bed was comfortable and the rooms look just like the photo. Management was very helpful in recommending what to do and see. The location is great and we could walk to everything. The food in the restaurant was excellent and the smell of the baking bread wafting up into the rooms was comforting. Service was great. Our room had a bit of an ant issue but other then that it was fantastic. Valparaiso is a beautiful city and worth the visit.
- Alex (8/5): Nice boutique hotel - Nice boutique hotel, decorated in good taste with comfortable rooms. Not convenient if you come in a car (parking is far and not the safest walk back at night). Great breakfast included.
- tonifraser (8/5): Boutique Hotel - Great location. Light airy rooms., well appointed and decorated. Spacious bathrooms with separate toilet and also well appointed. A welcome bottle of Champayne on arrival. Very comfortable bed and clean. Basic breakfast but very adequate. Walking distance to the main tourist attractions. And very safe location. Staff were extremely helpful and very friendly always making sure everything was very good for us. I would recommend this lovely small hotel.
- 658dirkl (6/5): So So Hotel - Spent 2 nights and no change of towels. Had trouble getting hot water for shower. Shower was moldy. Good breakfast, free Wi-Fi and fridge in room. So so in terms of clean. Free parking if you can find it. Friendly staff
- LesA823 (8/5): TerraNostra Hotel Valparaiso. - Decent room, good breakfast, decent WiFi free, good location. Staff tried very hard to please. We used this for a single night as we prepared to take a cruise ship from the Puerto there. Bed was comfortable.
- Suzette (6/5): Convenient but noisy location - Great place to be just very noisy all night.
- Roderick (10/5): Excellent Value Hotel - Ive written so many reviews for this place, I keep repeating myself..
What keeps me coming back?
Location, staff, comfort, breakfast, service, cost, etcetera.
If you're staying in Valparaiso, whether for tourism or business, this is a great place.
Highly recommended.
- maxgilc (10/5): Excellent! - I stayed for four nights, the room was as advertised, and I loved the location, preferred to stayed there than up the hills, and there at least three lifts nearby. The best part was the staff, they were all very nice, and went out of their way to assist me with a few issues that I had during my stay.
- CatherineCamp (10/5): Loved this hospitable lodging - The high point of our stay was the staff: they were flexible, available, helpful. The hotel is relatively small, our room was clean and comfortable. Breakfasts were good and, as always in this hotel, staff was eager to meet our needs. The hotel is on the flat part of Valparaiso, but it backs up against the hill to the old part of town and we found interesting restaurants, great street art, and a central location for exploring this unique city.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Recommend this place for sure - Rooms need AC or a fan, as open windows in a city that goes all night doesn't work. Great staff, excellent breakfast, convenient location. Consider making an iron available.
- rvc7 (10/5): What a charming, friendly hotel - The staff was more than outstanding. One of our party arrived ill and unfortunately lost her medication case. They spent several hours helping us track it successfully. The location was ideal, the rooms were large and clean. The building was charmingly old. The breakfast staff couldn't do enough for their guests. This is a rare, truly charming find.
- Epl222 (8/5): Charming hotel with delightful employees - We stayed at this 1910 bank that has been refurbished to a modern-style hotel. It's a convenient location (if you haven't been to valparaiso, don't let the graffiti in the neighborhood startle you - it's a part of the street art in the city). The rooms were nice, clean, modern, and uncluttered. The breakfast was AMAZING. Don't miss the coffee or the eggs with ham and cheese, prepared to order. They were the best we had during our whole trip!!
The true star of the hotel, however, is the incredibly gracious team that runs Hotel Terranostra. Everyone we interacted with was a DELIGHT. Francisco and Guillem, who welcomed us when we arrived couldn't have been more lovely. Guillem even hopped into the rental car to help my dad take the car to the right (free) garage. Francisco helped us find incredible restaurants, guided us on sights to see in the city, and helped us find some delicious Chilean wine.
I loved this hotel and truly cannot compliment the team enough. What a wonderful welcome to Chile!
- Jennifer (4/5): Awful experience - There was no air conditioning, the bathroom fixtures were broken and falling off the wall, there were holes in the wall that they just put wall paper over.
- Alex Cool (8/5): Hotel bien ubicado !!!
- NP (8/5): Great location in Valparaiso - Very accommodating staff. Wonderful service. Modern rooms. High ceilings, lots of air and light. Espresso machine available any time.
- Amy (8/5): Modern hotel, close to bars and restaurants. - Stayed for two nights. Booked a superior suite but was dissapointed on arrival as it looked nothing like the pictures and did not have a balcony as it stated it had. We asked to look at another room on the that did have a balcony but unfortuanly smaller and lots of noisefrom he street. The room was clean, modern and comfortable. The second night we were upgraded to a premium suite (spend the extra and get this room) the room was beautiful. Good bed, great views and large balcony. The bathroom was the highlight with a free standing bath and very modern. Breakfast was great and service was very friendly. It isnt in the "pretty" part of Valparaiso but close to bars and restaurant and everything is so close enough close and walkable! Enjoy the stay overall
- Roderick (10/5): My favorite hotel in Valparaiso - Ive said it many times before and will do so again. Whether for business or tourism, Terranostra is located perfectly. The staff is very courteous and helpful. They often add nice touches such as a welcome drink or their new espressos. Very Satisfied
- Roderick (10/5): Great hotel in excellent location - Have stayed here too many time to count now. Whether in town for business or vacation, the location is great. Close to both office areas, and shopping and tourism.
The restaurant they have is pleasant and staff always courteous, definite recommend.
- Edwin (8/5): Nice hotel for a weekend getaway - I used this hotel for a weekend getaway after a week of work in Santiago. The staff was very friendly and helpful with providing tourist information; they even lent me a subway card so I would not have to pay for one. The hotel condition is very good but the neighbourhood is a bit run down, but conveniently located.
- Angela A (10/5): Modern and Contemporary - The bed was very comfortable. Room looks just like the photos. Management was very helpful and recommending what to see and do. Our flights were delayed so we were a day late and they were very accommodating by letting us check out late. The food in the restaurant was excellent and the smell of the baking bread wafting up to the room was intoxicating.
- Michael (8/5): Terranostra - Hotel Terranostra is located in a convenient location within Valparaiso. The hotel was within walking distance of the Tur Bus terminal we used to get in from Santiago (20 min walk). It is located near a number of squares with restaurants, shops, etc. The hotel itself was very modern, clean, and comfortable. I will stay here again the next time I'm in Valparaiso.
- Dr T S (8/5): Up-to-date hotel in a century building - We chose this hotel because of its proximity to the port and it's in a good area for walking. Following another review, we requested a room not on Esmeralda, because of street noise and were given a room on the side-pedestrian street. Unfortunately, people living near-by sat outside into the wee hours talking. Then at 06:00 other voices could be heard. This is my only complaint; the service and breakfast were outstanding. While the room was small it is very well designed and comfortable for a short stay or those traveling with little luggage.
- G R (10/5): Nice little hotel - A nice, quiet hotel. The staff were friendly and helpful. We were checking out before breakfast so Felipe arranged a packed lunch for us which was very much appreciated.
The location was good with buses right at the door and restaurants nearby.
- Ann (10/5): Great hotel in the city - We had a great experience at this hotel. We had one night there waiting for a cruise ship. The staff could not have been nicer or more helpful. . All we had dealings with spoke excellent English. The room was small but very clean and functional. It was near the waterfront and short walks to places of interest. The breakfasts were very good. All told, we feel we picked very well and were not disappointed.
- Andrea (8/5): Perfect location, elegant design - I loved the modern design of the rooms in this beautiful old building located at the bottom of the city in perfect walking distance to everything you need. Would definitely stay again.
- roderick (8/5): Great location for work or pleasure - To make up for the last time we stayed , they gave us complimentary champagne and treated super!
- Roderick (6/5): Conveniently located boutique hotel - Location is the best quality the hotel offers .
The restaurant leaves a lot to be desired . While breakfast is adequate lunch and dinner hours are very short .
Not quite deserving of the rates charged .
- Erika (10/5): Great hotel with awesome location - Wonderful hotel! The staff was extremely helpful throughout our stay. The breakfast provided in the morning was delicious, served in the cafe right downstairs (which I also recommend for their happy hour--great drinks and food!) the room was very clean and comfortable, and never felt cramped with two people + two weeks worth of luggage. There's also a cute balcony area, which I imagine has a great view on higher floors (we were on 4), but regardless is very nice. Location was great, just a few blocks from the port and also right by the stairs to Certo Alegre, which has a lot of great restaurants and bars. Also a short walk from the ascensor if you don't want to take the stairs. Overall a great experience, and I would definitely stay here again.
- Marilyn (8/5): Small but clean and modern room - Helpful service. Room was small but clean and modern. Wifi was excellent.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Concepcion Funicular Hotel - This hotel is a great location to the Concepcion Funicular and the amazing neighborhood it connects. Staff was friendly, helpful and very willing to do what it took to make us happy.
Unfortunately our 5th floor room faced a very bus street and street noise was constant thru out the day and night. If we stayed here again we would request a room not on the street side.
Breakfast was excellent and was included, pleasant surprise.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Small rooms but clean and comfortable - The entrance and neighborhood are not very attractive, being in a business district and graffiti (not 'art') on the front glass door. The room was small but comfortable and clean and mostly quiet. I say mostly because you can hear the person in the room next door when they are in the shower and with the window open, it can get a bit loud at bar close. There are stairs right next to the hotel that lead up to the more touristy area with some good restaurants so location is good. It is also just a few blocks from the metro and marina. Breakfast was good and the server we had, spoke English. Cereal, fruit, juice, coffee, eggs and toast. Breakfast is not served until 8:30 am on weekends, which was a bit late for us.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - This was a great hotel - located centrally in the city and most things are walkable. The concierge was pleasant and let us check in early. The restaurant downstairs has good drinks, but the food and breakfast was just ok. We had a rental car and it is impt to note that this hotel does not have parking and traffic patterns are busy in this part of the city. So I would recommend visiting without a rental car. The hotel room and finishing a were beautiful and newly updated. Definitely recommend !
- Boris (8/5): Service above and beyond - it was my 1st day in Valparaiso on a Monday morning getting ready for a meeting and asked the front desk manager, Guillermo, to call for a taxi. unfortunately, they are not common there; he could not get one. Instead, he walked several blocks around the hotel to find me one!! it took a long time but he got me a taxi. i had no Chilean pesos so gave me 120 pesos to pay for both trips. i will never forget such level of service. He absolutely made a great impact in my entire stay. what a wonderful person.
thank you very much!!
- janet (6/5): Ok hotel, if you don't mind creaky floor boards. - We only needed an overnight and this suited us fine. If we had wanted to stay longer, may have looked elsewhere. View from window was of a very busy street. Didn't seem to have air conditioning, but may be wrong on that. Couldn't have windows open because of street noise. bathroom was lovely. Everything was clean.
- Donnie (10/5): Centrally Located Boutique Hotel - From the time that we checked in, until checkout, we received perfect service and a very nice room. The hotel is centrally located, as there are several restaurants and cantinas within a 5 minute walk. There are also several al fresco restaurants that look onto to town square. These are also a 5 minute walk away. I really have to say that this boutique hotel is hard to beat. Would definitely stay again.
- Robert (10/5): Our room was great! - THIS HOTEL WAS LOCATED IN A NICE DOWNTOWN AREA. OUR FRONT CORNER ROOM WAS BEAUTIFULLY BRIGHT.
BREAKFAST WAS INCLUDED AND WAS SERVED WITH MENU CHOICES.
WE WOULD DEFINITELY STAY THERE AGAIN. VERY FRIENDLY AND HELPFUL.
- peter (10/5): Fantastic Valparaiso Hotel - This was a fantastic hotel with a great location, terrific service and very nice rooms. Cannot recommend it enough
- stephen (10/5): First class hotel in Santiago - Fantastic hotel in a great neighborhood in Santiago. Wished we had changed our itinerary to stay longer
- MJ2ofUs (8/5): Two night stay - Apart from one breakfast calamity it was a great 2 night stay. Location perfect but a lot of noise on the Saturday night we stayed. Front room, balcony doors, no A/C.
Clean and fresh rooms and staff very friendly and informative.
- Martin F (10/5): Good choice! - Hotel Terranostra is located in an excellent position within walking distance of the main attractions of Valparaiso, including several funiculars. The room was spacious and the bed comfortable, with good quality linen and pillows. The shower was powerful and the temperature controllable and constant. The towels were plentiful, soft and absorbant.
Breakfast was on the ground floor and comprised cereal, eggs, cold meat, fruit, etc in good quantities.
The staff were friendly and quick to rectify anything necessary. The safe in our room needed new batteries to activate the lock and someone came within minutes of this being reported.
Luggage was held after we checked out until we caught the bus later in the afternoon and a taxi was called when requested.
All in all a good choice!
- James (8/5): Avoid rooms over Esmeralda Street. - The staff was courteous and helpful, and the downstairs bar (and breakfast restaurant) was great. The rooms were modern and had good wireless access, but the street noise from the front side (Esmeralda) made it almost impossible to sleep, especially with an open window to let some cool air in. The staff moved us to a back room (facing a courtyard) and it was great. No parking at the hotel, but they validate for a harborside garage about four blocks away. Also, since Esmeralda is really busy it is hard to load and unload without blocking a lane of traffic. Another big advantage of the hotel is the proximity to the Concepcion Elevator up to the hilltop area with great restaurants, views and galleries.
- hilda reinauer stark (10/5): close to points of interest - The staff was so helpful, getting information on where to eat to travel infor.
