- jamesbrown150 (10/5): Nice little hotel with friendly staff - Nice, friendly place, staff very welcoming, room is fairly small but neat, comfy and well-maintained. Bathroom is nice, a little small again. The stairs are quite narrow and steep so something to bear in mind. Right in the heart of Alkmarr. Altogether a very nice experience.

- jordanellie41 (8/5): DECENT PLACE VERY CENTRAL BUT NEED'S TWEAKING - Like all of my hostel visits over many years of travelling through Europe, you generally get what you pay for and in a hostel you invariably have to take the rough with the smooth. In no particular order I will list my pro's and cons for this establishment. First the pro's; The breakfast is very good and consists of bread, ham, cheese, croissant, muffin tea, coffee and the best orange juice I've ever tasted. The layout of the hostel is easy on the eye and has seating areas inside next to the dorms and at front of desk where breakfast is served. All the staff are very helpful and knowledgeable and always work with a smile on their faces. The location of the hostel is just an 8 minute walk to many attractions and a 13 minute walk to the main railway station. The furnishings are of very high quality which makes for a more pleasurable experience. The shower in my dorm always had red hot water ready to use at any time of the day. The cons are obviously personal to me so many of these I'm about to mention may not bother another guest. I particularly like my privacy when in a dorm so a hostel that doesn't have individual night lights at each bed or a privacy curtain that wraps around the bunk is not something I'm a fan of. There are no lockers in the rooms, they lie elsewhere in the hostel which isn't the best situation to keep having to leave you room to get something. Although the breakfast is very good it does come at a cost if you buy it separately at 14,50€. I booked my room with breakfast so you get a better deal. There's no kitchen here only what the describe as a kitchenette. This basically is a sink unit, a couple of bins, minimal cutlery, plates bowls cups and glasses, a microwave and a kettle. I stayed in a 6 bed dorm which only had 1 toilet and 1 shower within the room. This wasn't a problem in March but I can imagine long waiting periods to use the services during the busy months. The dorm had a long upright window next to the door which very annoyingly used to let the main light for the foyer outside of the room through it. This light seemed to be on all night and used to shine in like the sun which I totally disliked given what I've already mentioned about no privacy curtain. Finally, the cleaner seemed to do a certain job and nothing more. I arrived and a previous guest had left rubbish and a used plate on the dorm table...when I left it was still there 3 days later. The same went for used bags and shower gel bottles left in the toilet after someone had departed. Surely if the cleaner sees they're finished with - as I did - you would thing she would sort it all out, instead it was me who threw everything away!

- MITZICAVE (10/5): Kings inn hostel Alkmaar FAB xx - A really cool, relaxed place to stay. The rooms are big, bathroom and shower are great, it's super clean, nice bar area, and the staff are so kind.... A really great place to stay, you can't go wrong... its so easy yo walk everywhere from here. There is a market on Saturday, really great bread and cheese and fruit.... its a really cool place 👌 ❤️

Hotel had ook uitrijkaart, waardoor we goedkoper uit waren na 2,5 dag geparkeerd te hebben voor maar 12,50 euro. Er zijn spelletjes voor kinderen aanwezig. Toen we geen.gebruil maakten van de schoonmaakservice, kregen we op een stroopwafel als presentje :).

- Verified traveler (8/5): - It was great and the location is very convenient. The walls are very thin though so you can hear everything that's going on on the streets and in the hallway. And the lights were very dim and yellow in the room we stayed in. However the room was equipped with everything we needed including a microwave, a mini fridge and a kettle. For the price it was great! Also remember that you have to pay a tourist fee of 5,60€ upon check in.

- Sabrina Ilse (10/5): - Nähe zu Amsterdam super. Hotelzimmer neu und sehr sauber. Wir sind mit dem Auto angereist, leider wurde uns nicht gesagt, dass jeden Samstag in Alkmaar ein Markt ist. Wir wurden (Kostem 275 eur) abgeschleppt. Wir hatten noch im Hotel über die Parkplatzsituationen gesprochen. Vielleicht ein kleiner Hinweis für die nächsten Gäste. :) Die Beschilderung ist auch sicher nicht optimal. Wir kommen trotzdem gerne wieder.
- Christian (6/5): - It was a four nights stay, the first room we had was awful (impossible to move for two people in this tiny room (would be alright for a single) nothing to hang or tide up bags and clothes, after a complain the staff kindly offered us to move to another room without extra charge, which we apreciated and from then it was alright even if the furnitures of poor quality could be better. but the location is great and the breakfast ok.

Late night/early morning returning from Amsterdam there were some questionable people about making it feel unsafe if coming back alone. I parked street side less than 2min walk on an EV charger spot where I just had to pay for charging car and not parking. But the receptionist (at the property cafe) said that there is no need to pay for parking between 2100 and 0900 hours.

Das Fenster ließ sich nicht öffnen, es war richtig stickig im Zimmer, kaum frische Luft. Der einzige Wunsch war raus und nie wieder. Das einzige Gute ist natürlich die Lage. Bin eher enttäuscht.

- Dulian (2/5): - They let me check in early but was impossible to checkout after I saw what I had gotten myself into. The Upside was that I had a 9 bunk bed unit all to myself, no windows and just very creepy dark place right by the staff entrance, laundry, and late night guest access which meant no chance of sleep, expect to get the door knocked on late at nights by somebody who has had one too many and doesn't know where to go (in one instance a staff member just barging in assuming room was empty and perhaps going to crash there). Surrounding area was beautiful to walk to. My reservation was for more than two weeks but I could only bare one night, at this stage I don't even know if I got refunded for anything but it was more confrontable sleeping in the train station the following night until I found something else. Maybe the more expensive units are better but I was not prepared to find out, very terrible costumer service after they had taken my money, spent weeks trying to get some sort of refund back after front desk had promised to refund my credit card in accordance to their policy of 48 hrs notice which meant I would only pay for two nights. after checking out and getting in contact to access the funds the only option they gave me was a gift card to go back to the same place, just a waste, might as well slapped me too. Just terrible, spend a little more and have a nice time in the lovely area or just sleep in the train station as I promise it will be more comfortable.

- Dean (8/5): Noisy room - Booked a suit for one night in order to visit this beautiful city. Desk staff were delightful although they did initially give us the key to someone else’s room! Our suit was large, ornate and spacious but at the end of the building next to the busy main road, there was no A/C so one must choose between noise with windows open or a hot stuffy room. Furthermore, there was no wardrobe, only a curtain between the room and toilet, very dim lighting in the bathroom, faulty lighting above the mirror and thick hard pillows, they also charge for the use of an iron!!

You have to find a system to make sure that the food will stay save. Your refrigerator was really bad. But the rest of the hostel was clean. The problem is really the refrigerator.

- David (4/5): Claustrophobic, dark, dorm room with little air - The property itself is a nice building, centrally located and staff helpful. However, the shared, 4 bed dorm room I was in, was pretty depression. There was no window or any real natural light or ventilation (apart from a grate in the door). The room was very stuffy & dark as a result. The beds were very basic too, with a hard plastic mattress. The shower was also a bit of a dribble at most, which made showering properly tricky & the lack ventilation meant the whole bedroom became humid if someone showered. The rooms smelled on human odours and sweat as a result of the stuffiness. It’s pretty claustrophobic room set-up. Not a fan of this place, but there are very few other places to go in the city for affordable prices.

The whole thing felt a bit like a tourist trap although the staff was really friendly. Itsnice to stay so close to the old city wuth its history and special buildings. We have been cycling through the fields with tulps . Very comfortable in KingsInn. We loved breakfast. Excellent stay!

- MelindavanZoest (8/5): Nice place in city center - Nice hostel in the center of Alkmaar. The central room for all guest is a nice place to sit down after a long day. They have games and other stuff to do if you like. Only the airco was broke during our stay. Due to that we had to stay in our own room in which the ventilation was poor (we didnt book a room with a window)

I recommend this hotel for everyone who wants to visit alkmaar or the beautiful villages at the seacoast such as Bergen aan Zee.
- rickvanewijk (8/5): Friendly staff, excellent place in center of the city - We really liked the fact that this Hotel is in the city centre. Everything is perfect doable by foot. Also parking garage around the corner is perfect. Beach is like 10 km away and perfect for a day trip. Due to Corona breakfast and dinner are different than usual, but still the staff is awesome and makes it all good.

- Darrel (10/5): First solo trip. - The service and the staff were great. I would recommend King's Inn City Hostel to any of my friends that are traveling. It might be a little distance from Amsterdam but it's well worth the trip. And you get the chance to visit the beautiful city of Alkmaar.
- Patrick (4/5): Kings Inn City Hostel - I booked on Hotels.com and it said it was 2 x single rooms and when I arrived it was 2 x rooms in an 8 bed dorm!! However the staff, location, cleanliness and everything else was excellent. If you want a good nights rest this is not for you. If you want to party this is for you.
