Guest Reviews
- theodore (10/5): The most comfortable and relaxing room we had on our vaction, - The breakfast was great as were the people who prepared the breafast. Nothing
- Kevin (9/5): It was a great stay except for the late night intrusion. - Very clean, big room and bathroom, comfortable beds. The automatic locks got changed late that night and while we were sleeping, another couple came barging into our room. Very scary and uncomfortable situation!
- Chitra (10/5): -
- Jan (8/5): -
- Susan (10/5): Quaint, appealing, central location for adventure - Quiet location, easy parking, lovely decor. Excellent breakfast at nearby cafe Nothing
- John (10/5): The room was great - The outside looked a little unusual, but the room was amazing
- Timo (9/5): Excellent retreat in amazing God’s country - Breakfast was excellent. Staff very helpful and courteous. We had a little trouble finding our room/facility as it’s a little off the road. No big deal.
BTW - we were on motorcycles (wasn’t an option on that one question) Nothing to complain about. Everything was wonderful.
- Jana (10/5): - Location, quiet, very comfortable. Staff very helpful courteous,
- Jeremy (10/5): Lovely place. I would stay here next time I am in Escalante. - Escalante is the smallest of towns so this place was really easy to find and just a few yards from Escalante Outfitters, which seemed to be the only restaurant in town that was open for dinner where we ate both nights, and we were not disappointed. The rooms were incredibly spacious and well equipped, though I had to move a couple of things around (microwave and coffee machine) to be able to plug them into the wall safely. And just so quiet and peaceful. I loved the skylight in the room, waking up to the natural light. Sitting on the chairs outside our end room, we counted 16 roosting Turkey Vultures in a nearby tree. Incredible. We were a bit thrown when we arrived, as the reception was closed, but another guest very kindly directed us to signage on another door, with instructions to send a text to the manager, who replied pretty quickly with door codes for our rooms. This all worked quickly but it would have been good if we could have received this information before our arrival instead of having to rely upon another guest who just happened to be sitting out on the porch.
Breakfast across the road at the other property nearby was good but a little disorganized, as I think we arrived shortly after they had reorganized things, and they were clearly short staffed, but also clearly working to improve things. The staff were really helpful and accommodating.
I received a couple of texts by traditional text messaging which I believe were from the property. I tried checking through the app but didn't get a response. This was a little disconcerting as the app devises that all communications should be made through the app to avoid scams etc. But otherwise no difficulty here.
- Peggy (9/5): Great location in town and quiet, comfy and clean. - Very quiet location but also close to all the shops/restaurants. Once we parked we walked everywhere we wanted to go in town. Spacious rooms and big comfy beds. We liked the chairs out front too. Nothing.
- Elizabeth (8/5): -
- Janet (10/5): Quiet comfortable place! - Clean, comfortable, good mattress, quiet location. Great pizzeria across the street. There is not an on site person for check in. We got there early and had to call to be sure we did have a reservation through booking.com. All other reservations we made we were contacted a day or two before and given the check in process and confirmation of our reservation. We ended up helping two other couples find the number to call to get into their rooms.
- Mary T (9/5): Good experience overall - Nice quiet room, peaceful area after a long day. Good breakfast (although it was off site) Confusing remote check in. Would have liked a clock in the room and maybe a nightlight
- jeannene (8/5): -
- Sarah (7/5): Pleasant stay - Location to town and attractions. WiFi was pretty bad but we managed after contacting management. The actual photo of the place is different to what was shown which was ok but just worrying when you arrive. Breakfast was nice but just not enough for the people at the time. A lot of waiting for things to be made which when you want to get on the road is annoying. They need cotton sheets on the beds!
- Mela (9/5): -
- Sheri (10/5): Cute town - Very comfortable beds.
- Sue (9/5): -
- Sheryl (10/5): -
- Margaret (10/5): -
- David (10/5): Perfect - Very comfortable, roomy, warm showers and great breakfast.
- erin (10/5): Best lodgings on a three week trip! Excellent and very large room. Next to multiple National Parks and NM. Excellent out - Beautiful and very large room with couch/TV nook. Bathroom huge. Local native designed. Walkable to best restaurant in town. Beds and towels lux. Breakfast across street in a very cute property included!
- Ross (10/5): - Breakfast was top notch
- zephyrs060780 (10/5): Beautiful Inn in the heart of Escalante - Gorgeous inn, the rooms are beautifully decorated, they're spacious and very comfortable. Great staff and a very relaxed environment. Highly recommended!
- Pat (8/5): Nice place in beautiful location - It was convenient for our trip ! The room
Was amazing ! So nice and big! Updates were great and relevant to culture of the location Some things were confusing with instructions in the room regarding breakfast and password for Wii Fi . Things got figured out but created some confusion. The Bed was a foam mattress which was comfortable I am sure for most people but did not go well for my back.
- Donea (8/5): Cute, private, central location to beautiful Escalante. - The location was very central, close to some restaurants and pretty private. It looks like maybe the rooms had been recently refurbished? Clean, new furniture, streaming TV, it was cute! This is nitpicky and probably just me, but I'm a short gal and the beds were high. I had to kind of drag myself up onto it, lol. Maybe tucking a step stool under the bed for ease of use would be a nice touch? On the flip side, the toilet was really low - just hard on my knees. Lower bed, higher toilet seat. :) And room possibly could have used a bit more light.
- Elke (9/5): -
- Nancy (10/5): Clean, spacious room. Great location - Spacious comfortable room with skylights and a vaulted ceiling. Perfect location in the heart of town. Excessive decoration
- angelica (1/5): Unsafe host - DO NOT book here!!!! The manager/owner of the inn, Tom, verbally assaulted us in front of my 9 year old because he said we weren’t allowed a child there and was loudly screaming demanding a credit card to charge us fees. No where on the third party booking site we used did it say ANYWHERE about no children allowed. The room we booked was allowed up to four people, we only had three. We checked in late at night and a key was left for us outside so we met no host at all. This was an extremely stressful experience. We had to call the police to return his key to him we had because it was not safe to go back to the place. That was traumatizing. My guess is, the host is not permitted around children. His full name isn’t posted anywhere so be aware. If you look at reviews on yelp or travel sites there are many of them complaining about the manger’s rudeness and aggression. Now that I looked more, there are many complaining of all these extensive “rules” the owner has once already paid that are HIDDEN beforehand. Some of them are absurd, if you have too many people showering it’s an extra $20. I wish I would’ve seen this beforehand. The room is also very overpriced at $170 a night.

- Jack (9/5): Nice stay in comfortable inn. - Comfy and spacious room. Good bed. Friendly and helpful host. Host book was written with strong emphasis on fines. Not very welcoming.
- Alberto (10/5): Great location at a great price. - Great location and really well kept hotel. It is within 1 minute walk from the only great restaurant.
- Mike (9/5): We’ll be back! - Tom, the host, was a fountain of information on things to do in the area.
Room spacious and comfortable.
- Linda (10/5): Clean, welcoming, and safe for solo travelers. - The rooms were large, comfortable, clean, and airy. Bed was clean and comfortable. Location made it easy to walk to stores and restaurants. Host is extremely knowledgeable about trails and points of interest. Can’t go wrong.
- Jeanette (10/5): -
- lloyd (8/5): A comfortable and convenient place to stay - Convient location, comfortable and friendly staff.
- Karyl (10/5): Lovely stay, convenient to what we required. - Small, cozy, clean Nothing
- Stewart (10/5): A small property, quiet and confortable. - Charming room. Friendliness of owner.
- Robert Raymond (10/5): - Tom was a great host and we really enjoyed our stay. Clean room and very nice accommodations.
Eigenlijk was alles goed
- Cynthia (9/5): - A fun, quirky place. We would totally stay again - even though the owner, Tom, had rules. We walked across the street for some delicious pizza. There was coffee and home baked goodies in the morning. Super quiet with a comfy bed.
- Tanya (9/5): - Perfect location. Nice room and comfortable! No kettle to make tea. That was a pity.
Basin was blocked and had to get it sorted.
- Francie (10/5): - Very nice and unique
- Coblentz (5/5): Dated, run down and expensive - poor value - Very dated and a big run down
- Matteo (9/5): -
- Kristy (10/5): - Really comfortable bed and the room was thoughtfully decorated with a seating area and rocking chairs. The owner was a wealth of information and even made coffee cake from scratch for morning travelers.
- Alice (10/5): - The parking was very convenient and safe. The room was very comfortable.
- Alan (10/5): Very good accommodation in Escalante -
- Sherri (7/5): Would not recommend there are others in Escalante. And he didn’t care whether we stayed or not. - The property was clean and showers were warm This was a very over priced stay. We have been traveling for a month and this cost the most and was in the middle of no where. The deposit was charged as part of the price and not refundable. Lots of rules from the guy who owns it. Reminded me of the commercial where you can’t have fun.
- Barbara (10/5): - Comfy bed, clean, cute room.
- Martin (10/5): - Sehr schönes, liebevoll individuell eingerichtetes Zimmer.
Jederzeit gerne wieder.
- Norbert (8/5): -
- Cheryl (10/5): - Clean, large room and a very large bathroom with an oversized bathtub equipped with a handheld shower. Hot water! Thick towels! We would definitely recommend.
- Jean-Emmanuel (10/5): - Très atypique et chaleureux
- Martha (9/5): Very enjoyable - Very clean and comfortable. Tom was a very good host with great blueberry muffins! Also gave us great sightseeing tips. Didn’t have conditioner for your hair
- Steve (10/5): -
- Knowles (10/5): -
- Cindy (10/5): - I loved this property. I would definitely recommend and stay here again.
- stefano (9/5): -
- Lorenzo (8/5): -
- Franck (8/5): Ideal for a few nights - Close to many hicking trailheads. - No breakfast as such but our host did prepare a few cookies, tea and coffee to please our palate.
The only (great) pizzeria was just on the other side of the street. So easy ! Nothing.
- Jacquelyn (10/5): - Large comfortable room, close to restaurants. Owner was so nice and helpful. He came earlier than normal in the morning to make us some coffee and pastries.
- Nancy (10/5): Great location with easy access to the area’s attractions. Comfortable bed. Friendly host. - I cannot say enough nice things about Tom the owner. He was very knowledgeable of the area with providing suggestions for hikes, biking routes and places to eat. He was friendly and always available to answer questions. The room was comfortable and nicely decorated. Good shower and comfortable bed. Nothing.
- Cinzia (7/5): Beautiful property, terrible host - The location was close to the Outfitters restaurant and shop, parking was convenient, and the room was comfortably furnished. I had a sense of what to expect when I received a "welcome" email shortly after making the reservation listing all the restrictions that would cause the cancellation with no refund of the reservation, and informing me that the stay will be charged right away.
When we arrived, the owner requested that I initial and sign a 'contract' acknowledging all the "don'ts" at the property, a first outside a car rental counter. He then proceeded to inform us that he was going to charge us extra for our teenage son: he should have checked the reservation more carefully before attempting to get more money from us. The bathroom was designed to be wheelchair accessible, which meant that my tall family members had to crouch to see themselves in the only mirror in the room. There was no conditioner, body wash or even a bar of soap for the shower; just a shampoo container attached to the shower.
On our last morning, I opened the door to the room to let some fresh air in; the owner told me to close it. If you decide to stay here, you should be aware that he is not a follower of the basic rules of hospitality.
- Walter (9/5): Superb -
- Jason (9/5): Lovely host, excellent room, great location in Escalante. - Lovely little place to stay in Escalante and Tom (the owner) was a pleasure to deal with and talk to.
Room was clean and comfortable, had a decent shower, was quiet (no children allowed!) and Tom provides some free coffee and tea in the morning. Nothing.
- brenda (10/5): - Owner was awesome, very personable and a great resource for the area. Room was very clean and comfortable
- Lunna (10/5): Exceptional - The place is clean and cozy! There’s a great restaurant just across the street. Tom is super knowledgeable about attractions along State Highway 24 and 95. We followed about 90% of his suggestions! He also has great taste in restaurants—the place he recommended was a hit!
- Ralph (10/5): - This is a nice quiet little place to stay. We had a beautiful room with a view of a small pasture with a horse in it. Sat on the porch watching a light rain fall while the horse ate grass. A nice place to eat is a 3 minute walk. My wife and I would love to come back. Tom the owner was very gracious.
- Edward (9/5): Great spot to relax in Escalante. - Cleanest place we’ve stayed. Cute room. Outside porch. Tom the front desk guy is full of local information. Nice guy. We couldn’t stay longer.
- Nava (10/5): Exceptional - Tom, the owner is the most gracious and welcoming host. He gave us tips for the road. The Inn provides an authentic atmosphere of the region.

- Dennis (10/5): Got the 2 queens we wanted, liked the decor, comfortable beds, great price. Very clean. - Location good. However, despite what Google Maps says, it's right off the main drag, not on it.
- Virginia (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jason (2/5): - Owner/manager was extremely rude and terrible to work with
- F (10/5): Exceptional - Nice room, great deck, good coffee and muffins, helpful friendly staff Nothing

- Huyen (10/5): - Room was clean, well furnished with bright lights, bed was firm with comfortable sheets and blankets. Nice southwestern motif in room #3 but the bathroom didn’t have the same motif — as if they ran out of money to finish it but it was a clean, functional bathroom. Room #6 even had a better southwestern feel. Breakfast was minimal with coffee and muffins. Good AC and heating. Staff was helpful. Good value, would return again.
- Ana (10/5): - Had a terrific experience here. The room was very comfortable, clean and could not have been in a better location. Tom was extremely helpful in giving me excellent advise to navigate in town and in my continuing adventures in the area.
