Guest Reviews
- tony (9/5): -
- Spence (9/5): - Would have liked a mini fridge, balcony was not worth the money
- Sochacki (3/5): While the location is great, I would not stay here again. - Location was very good and the lobby was beautiful. 1. $45/day parking surprise when we arrived. Parking was listed under the most popular amenity however and the page also said Public parking was available nearby but charges may apply. So, surprise!
2. No refrigerator in the room.
3. No microwave either
4. TV was difficult to use, only Direct TV with menu on channel 1 that scrolls to about channel 50 I think. No search feature or any other media platforms available like HBO?
5. My access to the internet dropped the next morning. They had to reboot their system for me.
6. The restaurant picture on their site is beautiful and on the property, but you can’t charge the bill to your room?
7. The room was very noisy and vibrating, like construction going on all day and night. After asking the hotel staff about the construction noise, they said it was coming from the restaurant above us since we were on the 5th floor
8. No Fan in the bathroom
9. Had 2-queen beds and it had a really tight walking space between bed and wall, not even a 1ft. Difficult to get in and out of bed on that side of the bed
- carolyn (9/5): - Beautiful location, beautifully renovated warehouse with high ceilinged rooms and lovely bathrooms.

- Nicole VandenToorn (8/5): - Excellent location, lovely property.

- Astrid (8/5): Excellent location, friendly staff, reasonable price - Fantastic location A little run down for 4 star hotel

- Arthur (8/5): - The online representation is a bit deceiving showing nicer roomy rooms then giving a room that 2 people can't walk past each other in! The online representation is a bit deceiving showing nicer roomy rooms then giving a room that 2 people can't walk past each other in!
- Rosalind (9/5): -
- Kathy (9/5): We had a great time escaping the Charlotte ice storm. - The location is perfect. The rooms are large and comfortable. It is clean. Two restaurants on the premises. Valet parking. Wouldn’t change a thing.
- Shawn (10/5): Get location and vibe in the heart of the city - Great location. Staff was helpful with checkin and recs on what to do in the area. For one night it was great, would have been good to stay even longer Everything was super for 1 night

- Thomas (7/5): It was pleasant - Only stayed one night was convenient to downtown. The floor in the room was very sticky. I told the front desk at check out.
- Latessia (3/5): The worst place dont be fooled - Nothing but location Cleanliness the staff used the paper towels to kill bugs then put the paper towels right back out for everyone to use then. They wouldn't allow ysvto switch rooms after our feet was sticking to the floor and bed wasn't cleaned properly. Reported everything to management only to not have then respond back. Then valet took our car only for us not to have access to our car all night long had an emergency and was told we couldn't have our car til the morning cause it was so far away Noone could get it
- Marguerite (9/5): Great location and rooftop and outdoor seating options! - Location and external amenities Somewhat sterile room
- Beal (3/5): Sucked - Location Charged me for smoking in the room and I don’t smoke. TV wouldn’t work and there was a leak above the toilet that flooded the bathroom.
- Karen (10/5): -
- patricia (10/5): - Very nice
- Kimber (8/5): Cottonsail!!! - First off, Savannah is beautiful and a very walkable city. Second, the hotel was in a very hot spot.
So ,the only, again, ONLY reason it did not get five stars from me is it was in the bar/party area. A little loud at times. However, for anyone reading this, note that the music or loud noise (cars, radios, etc). Stopped rather early (10pm or so?).
The room was squeaky clean but for some bizarre reason, I like carpeting. But the wood floors were super clean
Also, you have to valet there. But hey, it's a city and you are right on the Savannah river. Parking is beyond a premium there
So, reading this anyone? Visit Savannah and if you are the type that enjoys a few drinks, some good food and merriment, then definitely stay at the Cottonsail.
- JOE (10/5): - Very nice hotel in amazing part of this beautiful small city.
- Cassandra (10/5): - The room was clean and the beds were comfortable.
- Sarah (10/5): - Perfect location!
- Patrick (10/5): - Love the rooftop view but drinks aren't reasonable.
- Vince (10/5): - Excellent location, comfortable room, good shower!
- Dustin (8/5): - Room was more dated than pics show. Didn't like walking on floor of room barefooted.
- David (10/5): - Wonderful staff
- Cristina (4/5): - This is not the property’s fault but Expedia’s fault. They had false advertisement regarding a bathtub, crib availability, and the picture showing the incorrect room!!! Once we checked in, we asked for a room with a bathtub and crib for our baby and they told us they don’t have either! And i couldn’t cancel at that point
- Suzy (10/5): - Room was spacious, location was ideal, cost was reasonable.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Convenient to River Street and City Market.
Elevator to River Street. It was a family vacation. Valet was excellent. We took advantage of both restaurants and Rooftop lounge. Food and service were excellent. The only thing would be a mini fridge in the room.
- Tracy (6/5): - The bed was comfortable and the shower was good, but our room smelled terribly like mold and the floors were covered in dirt and debris. I had a hard time sleeping in the comfortable bed due to the very strong mold smell. I ended up with a headache and stuffy nose from it. The floors in our room were so dirty, we had to wear shoes or slippers the whole stay. Piles of dirt around furniture and in corners and a full covering of dirt, glitter, and other stuff clearly visible on the uncleaned/mopped floors. I paid extra for a river view king room and our view was of trees out of a very dirty window, not much of the river could be seen. The pictures will make you think you are getting a small balcony or a great river view, but that is not so in room 319 or I would imagine most of floor 3. The double tree was much nicer. Parking is also a nightmare on a weekend, so keep that in mind. Would not stay again.
- Marjorie (10/5): Highly Recommend - Awesome place. Our view from the balcony was wonderful. From the valets, to the desk staff, to the cleaning staff everyone was very friendly and went out of their way to accommodate us.
My only negative was the floor in our room was sticky, it seemed to need a thorough cleaning.
- Harald (7/5): Relaxing Savannah - Fantastic location at the lively river front and downtown in walking distance. Nice building transformed into a hotel. Building noise every morning getting us out of bed before 8am. I would not call this closet a Gym. Breakfast "included" comes down to a 15$ voucher for the rooftop restaurant. Not really what we expected from the description in Booking
- Charae (8/5): - Location and view was great. Great customer service. Samantha went above and beyond to accommodate me. The smell of the rooms.
- Veronica (8/5): - Conveniently located. Staff very friendly. Roof top restaurant-NEST was excellent. Things I didn’t like-room smelled old or musky. No mini fridge in room. River St entrance closed after 11.
- Verified traveler (2/5): DO NOT STAY HERE - Do not stay here. It is musty and dirty, and they allow non-patrons to come into the lobby to harass patrons by asking for money. The floors in the room were sticky, and the elevator smelled bad. The general manager is rude. If this is how you people run a business, I cannot wait to see how long you will be around. The guy at the front desk was friendly. Stay at Hotel Bardo instead.
- Miguel (7/5): - No parking Parking high cost
- Melissa (10/5): Comfort, clean, with old world style and right on the river! - The room was absolutely beautiful! The bed was extremely comfortable. The staff was amazing!
No surprises with parking. The valet service was helpful and really sweet. Samantha was helpful and made check in a breeze. The night shift attendant was not very friendly. Terrible attitude. Was not very helpful and acted like it was a burden to help us. Smile a little it goes a long way.
- Susan (10/5): - Great place to stay.
- John (9/5): - Location. 45.00 a night parking!! Very bad. I was told 45.00 and was charged 90.00
- Maeghan (8/5): Quaint, affordable and clean - The beds were very comfortable. The first night due to the ac system being worked on ours wasnt working right. However it wasn't terribly warm. The front desk offered to move us the next day as they didn't have anything to fit all of us. They also lent us a box fan which helped a lot. The next the ac was working properly and our room was super comfortable. We had a river view and what amazing views. The cargo ships coming in and out of the port. Access to river st was easy. A public parking garage was a very short walk to the hotel. It was cheaper than valet parking and not far at all. The hotel had 3 bikes out front to use, im not sure the process for borrowing though. Lastly the staff was amazing and so helpful. We loved our stay here. Nothing
- Maryalice (5/5): Good hotel but not worth the money. - Location. The location made the whole trip. The A/C was very poor. Had the thermostat set as low as possible and the temp in the room never dropped below 75. The balcony was definitely smaller than in the pictures. Was very shocked. There is no fridge or microwave in the room. If the A/C unit doesn’t work well due to the age of the room, they should maybe put box fans in the rooms for use if needed. Also parking that isn’t valet only. Needing to access vehicle late at night is needed sometimes.
- Michael (10/5): Perfect hotel! - We had a great time and were thoroughly pleased with the Cotton Sail. Everything was just as we booked it. Concierge was very helpful, front desk took care of us and “Tru” the valet became a friend. Perfect location right between old and new river street. Had a room with a French balcony overlooking the river just like we wanted and we will definitely come back.
- Catherine (8/5): - The best option for parking is the public parking garage across the street versus $45 a day for valet. This property does not have a swimming pool.
- Judy (10/5): Exceptional - Location TV wouldn’t stay on
- Candace (4/5): Yea, no. Go elsewhere - I arrived to wait for a valet that was five feet from my car, watching me load up and carry all my things do nothing and when my hands were full, I had to put things down to hand them my key. Check in was great but the rooms are dumpy, and loud based on location. Oh and there is a profound lack of insulation so not only do you get street noise but noise from everything else. Skip it.
- Jason (10/5): - The Cotton Sail is in a great location, if you stay, try the River House restaurant downstairs! The staff was friendly, the rooms clean, and the location was terrific! Parking will cost $45/night in valet so plan on the extra cost, but the convenience made it worth it. This is a short 25 minute drive to Tybee Island, and an easy 5 minute walk to the market place. I would definitely recommend a stay!
- Joy (8/5): Very nice place. I would stay again - Very close to everything. We only got our car from the valet when we went to Tybee Island. Walked everywhere else. Our room was very loud. Don’t know if it was because we were on the 5th floor beneath the bar and restaurant. However, they did offer to move us. The balcony room is also not worth paying for. You can’t sit out there, only room to stand.
- Amy (4/5): - Housekeeping was so poor. Rooms were dirty, there was no service and when the housekeeper came in, all they did was empty trash and left their own hair in the bathroom. Didn’t refill coffee offerings, etc. beautiful hotel and comfortable beds. Housekeeping is ruining it for them.
- Linda (10/5): - Had issue with directions getting to the location! Other than that.
- Bennett (10/5): - Beautiful river view from our room & rooftop bar. Hotel located close to everything in historic district. Staff was wonderful & helpful. Highly recommend.
- Linton (2/5): Perfect location/Completely bad experience - We always visit Savannah at least once a month and normally stay at Hilton properties because they always are nice, clean and customer service has always been good. We decided to try a different location and booked on Hotels only to find out Cotton Sail was also a Hilton property once I checked in. They were kind enough to add my Hilton Honors to my check in since I am a Diamond Member. That is where the good STOPS!!!! The rooms were extremely small, but nice. We laughed and made the best of it, and after my wife got a shower we realized AC was not cooling. I went downstairs to state it wasn't working and they offered to change our room. That was extremely sad being we had to unpack everything just to make space in our room, but we decided to go ahead and move rooms on the same floor. I asked for a key to the new room so we could just walk our stuff unpacked to the new room and the once nice and sweet lady that checked us in turned down right mean. Stated that was impossible to have keys to two rooms and that she would have to be there to watch us walk out of the room with all our packed luggage and move to the next room. I was dumbfounded by her change and the lack of customer service. Why would this be an issue!!! I told her if we had to pack all thing back in our luggage I was moving hotels completely. So within an hour we checked out and left. Hilton needs to address attitudes and customer service with this individual or remove the Hilton stamp on this property
- Michael (8/5): - Within walking distance of everything. The riverview room is nice but not enough bathroom counter.
- Robert (9/5): We enjoyed our stay... -
- Timothy (10/5): Loved it! - Location is great, has rooftop bar and restauraunts
- Heather (2/5): - Wonderful front desk and lovely valet. Condition of room was horrible. Paint spatters on furniture and fixtures. Floor dirty. Dirty linens stained duvet and bathroom condition was very dirty. Super expensive and not worth the money. Reserved a river view and not honored. Horrible stay. Hard to believe a Hilton Tpaestry.
- Shelley (10/5): - Beautiful and location is perfect! Great staff. Clean and professional!
- Brittney (8/5): - Location and view were fantastic!
- Amy (10/5): - I appreciated the kind staff, especially Shon! Great location with lots within walking distance.
- Daniel (3/5): Would not stay again - Excellent location Took over an hour to check in then didn’t get room requested.Hotel looking tired and grubby.
- Andrew (8/5): - Location great. Cleanliness of room was not up to par with this le
- Mario (10/5): - Easy access to downtown and shopping
- Vanessa (10/5): - Great location. Can be a bit noisy if it a weekend.. however Savannah shuts down at 10pm for the most part. Really great location outweighs all else. Friendly staff. Super awsome & amazing bed.. one of the most comfortable mattresses I’ve ever slept in!
- Regina (6/5): - We stayed here for two nights and were impressed by the elegant hotel lobby and the professional service throughout our visit. Our room was stunning, with a beautiful view of the river, and we loved the thoughtful layout and stylish interior design. Watching massive container ships pass by was surprisingly mesmerizing—and thankfully, their horns didn’t disrupt our sleep.
However, we were caught off guard the first night by the noise from the restaurant and bar directly above us. We hadn’t realized it stayed open until 11 PM and took another hour to clean up, which made for a restless night. Fortunately, Sandra from Guest Services stepped in and must have had a word with the restaurant staff, because the second night was wonderfully quiet.
Huge thanks to Sandra for making sure the rest of our stay was peaceful and enjoyable!
- Mark (8/5): - Right on the Savannah River. Upstairs people walked loudly, but otherwise great spot
- Brian (4/5): - The property was great, except for the roach that fell out of my wife's bathrobe when she went to put it on.
- Luis (10/5): Exceptional -
- terence (8/5): - Parking was difficult, if you did not use the valet option at $45 per day. The location was convenient with easy access to river street attractions.
- Arlene (8/5): Enjoyable Stay in Savannah - Perfect location close to City Market & the Riverfront. Rooms were spacious & very clean. There is a sports bar & a small eatery on the rooftop. Both overlook the river. We had drinks & appetizers at The Nest on the rooftop. Breakfast too. Food & drinks were very good & reasonably priced.
- Shannon (6/5): We Won’t Return to The Cotton Sail - Moved to this hotel after four nights at the Thompson Savannah (fabulous hotel!) for work, as we wanted to be closer to historic Savannah. The hotel itself is old and is pretty run down. Our room, the elevators, common areas, and the hotel’s one restaurant desperately needs cosmetic work and to be refreshed. Our room was dusty and dirty. Surfaced cleaned at best. Chipped spackle patches and chipped paint on the walls. Paint on the very old wood floors. The bathroom walls have drip marks down them as well as toothpaste spray from others on the vanity walls. Hardware is loose on the shower door and bathroom doors. Lampshades were broken and there were several stains on the chair and ottoman in our room.
Also, the hotel is located downtown and it is very noisy there. Cars blasting radios, delivery trucks, motorcycles, trolleys with speakers, boats, street performers - all are right below the doors/windows of the hotel.
- MIKE (8/5): old Savannah - Nice historic building great location;
- Jo (4/5): - The room had food crumbs all over the floor even the mirror on the wall was disgustingly dirty. We would have overlooked this but what happened in the morning was inexcusable. You have to use the valet for parking. He brought the car around, forgot to give us the key to the car, then we went to drive away and couldn't figure what we were hitting. He had parked it we got in to drive away and hit something. Got out and he had left the pylon in front of our car and we had to move it. Who does that?
- Paris (10/5): - The property and room was nice. The location was very convenient and the rooftop restaurant and bar had great options with a scenic view. The only cons was the $45 per day valet parking, and the floor we were on was noisy at times. Overrall it was a nice stay and I would stay here again the next time I visit Savannah.
- Nadine (8/5): - Great location, friendly staff, a bit noisy.
- Shannon (8/5): - The staff and restaurants were excellent. The room was clean but smaller than excepted for how expensive it was. Also, tge "balcony " was more of a fire escape. Standing room only for barely 2 people. My only other issue is the rates online while there were about 80 dollars less a day.
- Jasmine (4/5): The hotel is extremely overpriced. The ratings does not match the quality - I like the location. When I walked in the lobby floor was dirty and does not look as polished as the pictures.
The room was located below ground level. It looks like majority of the rooms at this hotel are located below ground level. My room had a window that faced a brick wall. It wasn’t a lot of natural light and the room was overall ‘dark’. The room also had a basement smell to it. Would not stay again. Especially considering the price.
- Stephanie (10/5): - Great service. The room smelled and felt clean. No complaints. 5 stars
- Craig (8/5): - Hotel was a little worn and dirty but the view made up for it
- Jean (10/5): - Loved the location, walking distance to everything. The view was great. I only wished the balcony was large enough to sit out on.
- Elizabeth (6/5): - It’s dated. Strong smell of cleaning products most likely due to wood floors and being an old building. Bed very comfortable as expected when staying at a Hilton. Location was central to everything in downtown Savannah. Staff was accommodating and friendly.
- David (8/5): - Great location and clean overall. The even numbered rooms on the 3rd floor look into an alley, so the room is always dark.
- Paul (10/5): - Only complaint is a lack of refrigerator in the room. With so much good food around not being able to keep leftovers was a bummer. But aside from that it was a wonderful experience and I'd highly recommend.
- Samantha (10/5): Exceptional -
- Vicky (9/5): Overall it was a great experience. Worth a few extra bucks for the container ship view alone. - Location on the river was wonderful for watching the big cargo ships and shopping the Riverwalk. It was also convenient to the marketplace and a trolley stop on the hop on hop off trolley which is a must since parking in Savannah is so very very scarce. There was valet parking available which was an extra $45 but worth it. (Remember SCARCE)
Staff was wonderful. I had hurt my ankle so didn’t want to hobble any more than I had to. They put us in a room right off the lobby which was perfect. We didn’t even have to put up with any noise from the lobby. Only two negatives. No microwave or fridge in the room. However I was offered to use a microwave in the employee break room so that was cool. And during the night there was a lot of thumping and bumping on the pipes and up and down the hall above us. A little kid? A ghost? Who knows. But it was loud and lingering.
- Mary (8/5): - Room was well appointed. Hotel was clean, well located, offered plenty of dining options, and valet parking was easy. Our staff was very friendly, and helpful. Our room was on the 5th floor, located just below the rooftop bar…so a bit noisy until they closed. Not a big deal, but worth noting.
- Aaron (10/5): - Clean and friendly. Loved that it was in the middle of everything
- John (10/5): Exceptional -
- Gary (8/5): - It's a great location if you're wanting to walk around old town and get to the bars and restaurants. Convenient location. Floor had some sticky spots from the cleaning supplies on the hardwood and is really small. Balcony was nice for the observation but very small.
- Andrew (10/5): Exceptional -
- Daniel (9/5): Valentines weekend get away - Closeness to river street and downtown savannah Building has a weird order almost like mildew on the upper deck hallway leading to the top deck bar
- Ansley (7/5): Amazing! Will stay again! - The room and view were amazing. I enjoyed the location as well. The room was a little warm at night and the ships blowing their horn disrupted sleep but I am sure that is just part of life on the river.
