Guest Reviews
- Castagna (9/5): Lovely host, position and facilities - Very clean, modern and all facilities included No window, a little hard to find
- Martina (10/5): -
- The Mexican Traveller (10/5): Increíble lugar!
- Angeli (9/5): The place was absolutely clean and the owner was accommodating and friendly. - Located at the downtown area
- Shamira (9/5): -
- Paula (10/5): The owner was very friendly and gave us suggestions on where to eat and what was way expensive. She has maps if you want - The property was located in walking distance of everything! We walked to the famous Guadi house and several churches. Shopping was all around us. The room was comfortable. It’s titled B&B and there was no breakfast but coffee and tea was on the common area for all. It was hard to locate because in Spain the hotels and B&B are just floors of building nothing that stands out like a Hyatt or Holiday Inn signage. If you want to get there early don’t bother and there is no where to store luggage until check in. I suggest you text well in advance to ask questions or to possibly schedule something special with the owner. She was not there when the time said for reception and you wait in a hallway until she arrives.
- Ghanem (8/5): -
- Karen (1/5): - Despite having a confirmed reservation which was already paid for through Booking.com, there was no answer at the B&B. I waited 2 hours after check in time and After calling, messaging, and calling Booking.com in Spain and Canada, the reservation was cancelled. I was told I should look for another place to stay. Refund will take 10 days for a place I never stayed at. It ended up costing me double the price to find a place at 5pm for my stay in Barcelona.
- Maria (10/5): -
- Samantha (6/5): - As previous reviews state, do not expect breakfast. Rooms were clean and well furnished (although we did wait an hour after we arrived for our room). Our A/C wasn’t working and the owner had no sense of urgency to fix or offer up an alternative. Only window in the room was in the bathroom and did not offer any sort of relief from the heat. We sourced a fan on Facebook marketplace at 10pm and it went and picked it up. Had we not had that, the sleeping conditions would have not been bearable. We left the fan behind for any other travellers that experience the same condition - so ask for it!
Good location.
- Joelle (8/5): - Pros:
Bedroom: The room was very clean and well cared for. We appreciated the shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and lotion provided. The linens were clean and in good condition. The bed was comfortable. The provided water and glasses was also appreciated. There is ample closet space to hang your clothes. The area was quiet.
Common area: The water and nespresso machine with cups/mugs was great. There is a refrigerator/freezer for common use. The tables and chairs were in good condition. The couches were comfortable.
Check in: check in was smooth; our room keys worked without issue. Check out was also smooth. The proprietor is friendly. We arrived before the room was ready, so she held our luggage for us while we explored the area. The luggage is held in the common area.
Cons:
The building and B&B can only be accessed by being buzzed in by the proprietor. If you arrive earlier than 1200, there is no one to let you in. There are 5-6 steps that must be taken to reach the lift. There is a chair lift for these steps, but it was broken when we were there last week.
Although it is titled "B&B" there is no provided breakfast. We walked a few blocks down and got a latte and croissant. The proprietor is only on the property from 1200-1900. The proprietor also cleans and prepares the rooms, so our room was not ready until 3:20pm.
Overall, we would stay here again. We would just choose to arrive later in the day.
- Gill (2/5): NOT A B&B AND NO ROOMS READY AT CHECK IN TIME!! - THIS IS NOT A B&B - you will not get breakfast!! You can also expect no room to be ready when your arrive - we waited 2 1/2 hours and, while waiting, 2 other guests arrived and also had no room way to check into. Terrible service but great location for Gaudi attractions.
- Gill (2/5): NOT A B&B and EXPECT CHECK IN DELAY - IMPORTANT TO KNOW!! This is NOT a B&B!! You will get the first B but you will not get the second - there us no breakfast!! Also be prepared to wait for your room. We had to wait 2 1/2 hours to get our room - although we arrived at the correct check in time. Two other guests arrived while we waited and also had no room to get into.
- Victoria (10/5): Exceptional -
- Daniela (10/5): - Wonderful stay, amazing location and the owner is an amazing host. Thank you!
- Anna (10/5): - Lovely little hotel a block from high street shopping in a safe area
- Yi (10/5): Excellence Experience! - Best host ever!
I had difficulty to check in in time (check in time: 3pm-7pm). The host waited for me until 11pm and even let me stay longer for the next day.
She explained everything to me in details.
Great place! Great location! Very clean!
- Norman (10/5): Comfort in Barcelona - A very nice comfortable hotel in Barcelona's city center. The owner is very friendly and she has owned the hotel since 2013. My room had a soft bed and lots of room to move around. After being on a cruise ship for two weeks, it was nice place.
- Derick (8/5): - The property was good. I know it says THE 8 Boutique B&B not it’s just the Bed minus the Breakfast. The owner was very helpful. The bathroom is really nice and modern. As for the room it was nice and big. Look like from an IKEA catalogue.
- Vitaly (10/5): - all as described, enjoyed my stay there.
- Joanne (9/5): Excellent location, very clean and comfortable highly recommend - Fabulous location within walking distance of main attractions. Our room was very clean with a comfy big bed and a room safe. Complimentary coffee, tea and water was a bonus. Nice kitchen facilities where you could eat and relax. The host Tatiana was very welcoming. We were able to leave our suitcases on day of departure. The air conditioning wasn’t as cool as we are use to.
- Elisa (6/5): - There is no concierge service
- Abby (10/5): - The owner stayed to let me in even though my train was late and then I got lost on the metro. Also the accommodations were very clean and it was the first place that gave me more than a sheet to sleep with. Best place I’ve stayed at!
- Steve (8/5): Think carefully before booking. - Very clean. Friendly owner, when she eventually arrived. No one on reception until 3pm. No one answering my phone calls. My room nit ready until 7pm when I had let them know I would be there at 3pm. Breakfast not provided despite calling itself Bed and Breakfast and promising a complimentary breakfast.
- alan (10/5): - Very nice. No meals no problem. Coffee was good and all we needed. Great location
- Mark (2/5): Very poor - Room was not prepared and ready. Complimentary breakfast did not exist and nobody entered the room to clean or change the towels. Lovely lady who runs it but no idea of what it takes to run a quality B & B. Book somewhere else. All of the above
- Irina (9/5): Superb -
- Anna (9/5): Superb -
- Helen (6/5): - The room was clean and although small was well set up. Communication is lacking. Tried half a dozen times to ring beforehand to see if I could store my suitcase early (and also emailed) with no response. Ended up storing my suitcase at the luggage section at the railway station and packing an overnight bag as I had to walk around for 3 hours before I could check in. I also emailed with no response (until day after I had left).
When I mentioned it she said she was too busy cleaning the rooms by herself and doesn’t have time to check messages. When I did arrive at 3pm it is obscurely located on the second floor with an unappealing entrance which left me wondering if I had the right place. The room wasn’t ready and I could wait hslf an hour or leave my overnight bag. I had a coffee and waited but after half an hour decided to leave my bag and continue sightseeing. Said I could leave my bags there after checkout if needed but was seeking this information beforehand. Obviously needs more help -at the least to check messages and emails.
It is still called a B&B but hasn’t had breakfast available for several years. This needs to be changed as misleading.
- Patti (10/5): In transit from Barcelona to Girona so had a 2 night stay. Perfect location. Clean and very quiet. Nice coffe machine an - Great location. So clean!! The owner was so wonderful and helpful. Nothing! All great!!
- Alexandre (8/5): Very good - Location and team Room really very small
- Assad (3/5): Arrogant and unfriendly owner - The place was good located. The Owner was very arrogant.
When we arrived about 13:00, she ignored us.
She was on the phone with her boyfriend about 15 minutes and we had to wait for her.
We wanted to leave our bags there and she was telling us just that the check in is at 15:00.
Then she said something was wrong with the booking, so she wanted to see my e-mails from booking.com.
She was very unfriendly and we spend about 30 minutes there just to leave our bags.
I would never go to that place again and don't recommend it to anybody
- Chance (8/5): Great hotel, very clean and well located. - Location is very good and the hotel is very well presented. Quite difficult to find as it is located inside a large building but it is a beautiful and very clean accommodation. WiFi kept cutting out.
- Sandra (8/5): Comfortable bed. - Great location No air con first night had to sleep with the window open. Very noisy. No milk for tea/coffee. No spare toilet roll.
- Vanka1976 (10/5): Exceptional - Location was awesome. Room was super clean! Shower space.
- Richard (8/5): - A really nice property, great location. States it’s a B&B but didn’t get breakfast. Very modern and classy
- Julio (1/5): Terrible. - I emailed the owner of this property what time I would arrive. When I arrived on time she was nowhere to be seen. I called but she didn't answer any of my calls to any of her numbers. I saw another guest there who claimed that he barely ever saw her and had experienced similar problems. After waiting for hours, I left a note and left for another hotel. The owner of the property refuses to reimburse me or even communicate with me. To make matters worse, I can tell she is purposefully ignoring me and trying to stop me from submitting this. This is a tourist SCAM. This should not be allowed to be listed as a three-star hotel since there is often no one at the front desk. DO NOT RECOMMEND.
- Sofia (9/5): Superb -
- Faris (2/5): The great location doesn’t make up for the bad experience. - Location was top-notch.
The place was clean and the restroom was nearly as big as the bedroom and had its own balcony. The host’s attitude was terrible, we arrived at 13:45, and kept buzzing the bell but no one would answer, tried calling and messaging the host and she wouldn’t respond. We had to wait outside until other tenants (whom have also experienced the same situation as us) came and let us in.
We then left our luggage inside and went out to eat only to come back to find the room wasn’t ready nor cleaned and it took the host more than an hour and a half to clean. And we only got into our rooms at 18:30.
This is all happened even though the host’s message clearly stated “RECEPTION HOURS: from 12:00 to 19:00
CHECK IN : from 15:00 to 19:00.”
- JAMES (2/5): - DO NOT RESERVE. READ THE RECENT GOOGLE REVIEWS. They do not pick up the phone ever and so you cannot get in. I had someone els ein the building unsolicited tell me to be careful with this place and that guests get kicked out and they take your stuff. Do not risk it. Also it is do weird it is in An apartment building in mediocre at best condition.
- Stephanie (2/5): Classic bait and switch tactic - Check in time was disregarded. I told the property I would arrive between 2-3pm and I had to wait outside 30 minutes until a stranger let me in the building. I then waited outside the hotel even though the owner knew I was outside. The owner does not start cleaning your room until you arrive or after. I had to wait 3 hours before I could access my room.
Even though this is a bed and breakfast, there is no option for a breakfast. I found this misleading as its called Bed and Breakfast.
Your room is not serviced at any time so take this into account if you are staying more than a day or two. The owner is not reachable by phone or message and there is a sign that says reception is there from 12-7, however this is not true. If you run out of any toiletries you will need to buy more yourself.
My bathroom ceiling was leaking around the electrical the second day I was there. I left a note for the owner since I could not reach her any other way and it was completely disregarded.
Booking.com took part in this as it promotes only the positive comments and provides high rateings however if you read the comments in the last year most are bad.
- Borko (10/5): Exceptional - everything
- Julio (4/5): - Very disappointed. Owner doesn’t have staff, she does everything and clearly she can’t keep up with everything. I was able to check in 1.5 hrs late because the room wasn’t ready / clean. Wifi issues. Asked for toilet paper and never came. Only good thing here is the location but the rest is terrible. Not recommended.
- Angelina (1/5): Horrible - I was mislead by the star rating on booking.com, it turns out that when there is new management the ratings don't get reset.
We arrived on 2nd June at 2:30pm. We were within the recommended check in time. We had to wait 10 minutes before the receptionist answered the buzzer to let us in. We also tried ringing the phone and no one picked up.
We had to wait until 8:30pm before we could enter our room.
There is no breakfast service even though the name of the place states that.
Our room was never cleaned during our stay, we never got clean towels and had to ask for toilet paper when we ran out.
On one of the days of our stay I had to let another guest into the place because his room card no longer worked and no one was answering the phone and no one was in reception area.
Stay away, it was a horrible experience and the manager there was very rude from the first night we arrived as we patiently waited for our room to be ready without any apology for the delay.
- Chiara (9/5): Superb -
- tracey (6/5): - Location very good
This is NOT a B&B, as it is called, false name and advertising, and reason I had booked this hotel
My room was not ready when I arrived @ 5pm, after long travel time , and after being asked and notifying hotel of my arrival time
The coffee machine did not work(the only thing offered @ “B&B”…owner was a bit cold
- Marta (5/5): Passable - location owner attitude and non responsiveness
- Anastasia (10/5): I would stay there again! - Everything was nice. The location was perfect and the room was super clean. There was a good internet connection too. In the common space you could make coffee and tea. Also we could leave our luggage there after check out and it was super convenient. We stayed there for 5 nights, so it would be nice if in the middle of our stay the room was being cleaned.
- Emma (5/5): Basic B&B, very expensive as there was a major trade fair on during the week. - Very over-priced, no breakfast facilities, small room.
- julie (8/5): - Nice place to stay. But was disappointed and surprised that a Bed and Breakfast does not serve breakfast. Moreover when you read the list of amenities it specifies Laundry. When i asked the owner she said no laundry like there never was. I specifically chose this place for this amenity and thought that with breakfast, the price although a bit high was ok considering. location wise close to metro. Safe neighbourhood and quiet. Close to Casa Batllo and Pedrera - walking distance.
- Ophir (8/5): Very good -
- Jeffrey (10/5): - Centrally located. Near all attractions and a lot of restaurants. Very clean. I didn't hear any noise from outside.
- Juan (8/5): Very good -
- Yigal (10/5): Exceptional -
- Edward (4/5): - The property is located on 1st floor (European, equivalent to 2nd floor in the US), so check in is in the property only by owner, as there is no reception on entrance, so when we arrived early, we had to wait until the owner showed up in the afternoon.
The property is clean, modern, conveniently located, and should be clear that there is no breakfast in this B&B. The most problematic thing about this property is that there is a very definite limited time in which you can get any help from the owner. One time, due to my own carelessness, I had accidentally forgotten to take the key and locked myself out of my room in the evening, and attempts at contacting the owner through email, phone calls, Whatsapp yielded no response. (owner left the Whatsapp number claiming she can be contacted). We had to sleep on the sofa in the common area that night. She does not come in until noon the next day, and owner did no apologize and said that "at least you have experienced sleeping on the sofa". She also admitted that she admitted getting the messages but she said her phone was "blocked", which we did not believe at all. Do not expect any kind of help besides 12 noon to about 7 PM from this owner. Traveling in a foreign country, I believe this type of service is not acceptable, so I cannot recommend this property.
- Jerry (10/5): Amazing stay at The 8 - My wife and I arrived to Barcelona, Spain early Tuesday morning. We booked our room here on Hotels.com with The 8, and then took a Taxi from the airport to the resort. Cost was about $27 Euro. Upon arrial we were a bit confused on where to go, but was delighted with the secured entry and the friendly guests. After making our way to the Lobby we were greated by the Owner/Operator who was more than accomodating being that it was only 10am and she led us to our room. The feeling the moment you step into the Lobby is a mix if modern contemporary meets the Gothic district which was amazing. Everything was clean, well laid out and worked perfectly.
Thank you so much for the hospitality and the clean resort. If we are in Spain again we will be sure to stay at The 8 again!
- tin-ming (8/5): - Good. Clean clean
- George (10/5): - Very nice location, clean and accessible. Tatiana is a wonderful host.
- Rachel (6/5): - The customer service is terrible. There was never anyone at the front desk and no one ever responded to messages sent via multiple routes (telephone, what’s app, hotel email). I never even saw a single other hotel guest while I was there, it was a little creepy how empty the property was the entire time. Also, there is no window in the room itself so everything is super dark, only a small window in the corner of the bathroom that looks out onto a brick wall. The air was stagnant due to lack of flow and no fan/AC. The only positive thing was the location was good. Would not recommend.
- Alex (10/5): Very satisfied. - Incredible staff and fantastic property. Room was a great size considering how little you’ll be in there when in a great city like Barcelona. Check in process was a breeze. Great location and amenities.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Our stay was ruined when on our third night, the owner came knocking on our door and threatened to call the police on us. I was in the shower when my friend knocked on the door and asked me to come out because the owner thought we had a third person in the room and said we had 5 minutes to get them out before she called the police. I quickly dried and walked outside to the reception to see what was going on. Apparently she thought she had seen a third person walk into our room on the security cams. We welcomed her to come inside to check herself but she was unwilling to believe us or check. It was especially odd considering we both greeted her when we got back that evening while she was out smoking on the balcony. There is only one entrance and the reception is right next to the door, plus our room is in view from the balcony where she was smoking. There was no way for a third person to walk in without it being obvious. Even if there was an extra person, I found the immediate threat extremely unprofessional and the fact that she didn't apologize after we clarified there was no third person there immensely disappointing. I tried to ask her how it was that we got to this situation and she walked away from me, muttering something about having the right to check on her rooms. Moreoever, that day our rooms were not cleaned (we got back around 7pm). We did not sleep comfortably that night as we could hear her playing music in the lobby right outside our door until around 11pm.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The property is situated in a convenient location; 2 min walking to the Passeig de Gracia metro station, that has a direct train to and from the Airport El Prat. Not to mention that is on a walking distance to the major city center landmarks.
- Kate (10/5): - Small but perfectly formed rooms with everything you need in a great location. Andreu, on reception, is incredibly friendly and very knowledgeable about Barcelona. Really lovely place to stay and I will be back.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The hotel is very close to public transit which is great. The hotel is walking distance to many good eats, shopping, and although it’s on a busy street you can barely hear city noise from your room. The rooms are nice and cozy. I was room hopping during my 7 day stay so I got to experience 2 different double rooms and a single room. My fave room is the double with a balcony view facing the street. The single is nice if you’re solo. It was bigger than my single room in Amsterdam lol Complimentary breakfast every morning with the usual croissants, deli meats, toast, etc. Can’t complain about free food, right?! They have a tea and coffee station that’s avail 24/7 - a must for me. Staff is super nice and courteous. The first front desk woman who checked me in was very helpful. She gave me a map of the city and pinned the must see sights and what areas to be wary about - even giving me tips on how to avoid being a victim of scams and pickpocketing. She recommended I get a T-10 public transit card to get around the city - it really was the best option. The second front desk woman was just as nice. On New Years Eve she gave out bottles of cava and cookies for every room. Overall, very personable experience at this hotel.
- Nico (10/5): Fabulous option - From beginning to end, the entire stay was great. The staff was wonderful and the hotel room was in great condition
- Verified traveler (10/5): - This is my second time to stay here. Great location! 3 mins walk to the nearest Metro which is the Main Street Pg Gracia, 10 - 15 mins walk to Plaza Catalunya and La Rambla and also 15 - 20 mins walk to Sagrada Família. There are many restaurants and shops nearby.
Staff are very friendly and welcomed me and my son with lovely smile. Room was very clean and spacious, bed was comfortable and shower room was also big and clean. Breakfast was included with fresh orange juice and wide selection of complimentary tea and coffee are served for 24hours. All staff speak English fluently and they are very helpful. I will definitely go back!
- Sun (10/5): Perfect Stay in Barcelona - Fantastic service, location, and stay. Just 2-3 min walk from the metro and Rodalies train station near Passeig de Gràcia, a main shopping district full of fabulous restaurants. Super service from everyone there. Continental breakfast (no hot food) is from 8:30-10:30 but they’ll prepare/pack it to go if you have an early day/tour. Will absolutely recommend and return.
- TT (10/5): - The best B&B I've ever stayed. If I ever go back to Barcelona, I'll sure book this B&B again. Surprisingly scrumptious breakfast. I like the fresh orange juice, the fruit, the salami, the coffee machine and the huge variety of tea bags. Bed is super comfy. Room is almost sound-proof that I couldn't hear any police siren despite there was a number of demonstration while I was staying. Very friendly front-desk staff.
- Kathleen (10/5): - Great location in Barcelona, easy to walk everywhere, and if you want the metro is very close too. The room we had was perfect, clean, comfortable bed, great shower. The breakfast was generous and healthy with breads, cheeses, meats, fruit, yogurt, fresh squeezed orange juice, and coffee. In the evening on Saturday there was wine to enjoy with olives. The staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and cared for. We would definitely stay here again!
- Elisa (10/5): - The staff was extremely friendly and accommodating. They will help you out and offer suggestions to make it a good stay. Also they do things like lend you umbrellas, or if you will miss breakfast, they can arrange for you a packed-up breakfast to-go.
The location is great, easily accessible, but not in the crazy "Rambla" section. It is easy to walk from here to prime tourist spots and restaurants.
Highly recommended!
- Olga (10/5): - The staff was so nice and the breakfast was A , even free wine and snacks in the evening! The only thing is to be prepared for very small rooms without windows. But you're in Barcelona, so you shouldn't be spending too much time in your room anyway!
- Manuel (10/5): - Excellent boutique hotel! A single floor on a building on a great location walking distance to major landmarks such as Casa Batlò, pedrera and Sagrada Familia as well as fine restaurants hair and spa salons. Close to Plaza Calunya and train station.
Service was outstanding Tatiana and Noelle went out of their way to please and help you rooms were clean and bed was the best!
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great place great location - Amazing service close to everything the customer service is awesome.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Perfectly located. Room had everything I needed and spotlessly clean. Staff were both friendly and professional. Wish I could have stayed longer. Solo traveler. Breakfast was simple and more than adequate for my taste.
- bpssg (10/5): - We had a great stay.. Great location, modern, immaculate and the staff very attentive and friendly. The complimentary tea, coffee and local wines and nibbles were a welcome bonus after a long day sightseeing. A good breakfast selection when you consider maximum number of people that can stay at any one time (13)..( It would be unreasonable to expect the variety on an all inclusive buffet of a 400 room hotel) We will be staying again when we come back. we have just the one suggestion, and that is to have a bin or container in the kitchen area to put the tea bags and milk containers after making drinks as it felt unnatural to just leave them on the side for the lovely staff to tidy away..
- Deborah (10/5): A perfect choice in Barcelona - Brilliant service, a charming lounge full of light and 24 hour tea, coffee, water, relaxation area. Great location.

The hotel is central located and near metro. Food was good.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - I recommend this hotel for its cleanliness. The staff is very friendly and customer service oriented. It is very well located . My suggestion is to have more options in the breakfast menu.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The location is great--very close to the train and metro, so easy access from the airport. The B&B staff was friendly and helpful, very willing to give me good advice on sights and restaurants. I would definitely stay again.
- glenn (10/5): Minimalist design with maximum advantages. - Small B&B with great location near train station to airport and good selection of restaurants.

- Mohammad (10/5): Awesome Experience - Wonderful experience. The staff are super friendly. You will never regret it. One of the best hotels for value among the 35 countries Ive visited.
- Claud (6/5): So small and noisy! - Room was ridiculously small and I could hear everything in the hallway and in other rooms.
Breakfast was great and my last day the woman at the front deak had the worst attitude when I asked her something In SPANISH!!!! (I speak Mexican Spanish and She had a very negative response to me). At check out I decided to only speak English to her and she shifted to being much nicer. That seems to happen in Catalunya a lot. What gives???? Is it racism???? It sure was rude!
- Mary (10/5): - Perfect location--off the main street but easy access to metro, shops, restaurants, etc.
- Le (8/5): - It is a good hotel, right at the center of everyrhing in Barcelona. You can walk to major sites. There are alot of restaurants around. The breakfast is simple but good, no scrambled eggs :( , you can hear the noise in the hallway when people are leaving or coming. Other than that, I like the hotel. It is very clean. Congrants to the lady who cleans it. The hotel is near the train station. Ah make sure you to look up when looking for the hotel, the sign is small.
- Laura (10/5): Not a bad word to say! - Loved it!!!
From the outside you wonder what you get yourself into. But once your in its lovely! Aircon the best, super friendly staff always happy to recomend a restaurant or organise a trio for you. Breakfast very nice. complimentary tea and coffee all day.
- TanveerAhmed (10/5): - It is an excellent B&B. Ideal location, right in the middle and still in a quite corner. Staff is excellent as they treat you as you are family. Love my stay. Room was small with no view but when in Barcelona who stays in the room. However the room was very clean and comfortable.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great hotel, I would definiely go back and stay again. The staff is very helpful with local things to do and dining options. TheWifi does not rally work, but I think they are working on that.
