Guest Reviews
- Davids (6/5): Pleasant - Staff friendliness That there is no braai area or stove or anything one can cook food
- Thule (7/5): Good -
- Maria (8/5): Unforgettable memories - I love the view of table mountain when I sit on the balcony and how close walking distance it was to the beach. The staff calling to say I can go for walk to see the sunset. The water was not as hot as iam used too. My television connection did not work but it was not a mager thing
- Nathan (8/5): Very good -
- Jefferies (3/5): Poor - The location Bedroom sheets were like linen towels with no extra blankets in the cupboards...the TV had no set channels...you had to have app accounts to enjoy anything.
Parking was a nightmare R180 to park there when it was free before
- Siphokazi (6/5): Pleasant -
- Raoulsmith (7/5): Good -
- Dean (8/5): Very good -
- Goldien (9/5): Superb -
- Hendricks (5/5): Passable - The staff Alot
- Anonymous (7/5): Good -

- Zodwa (8/5): Very good -
- Khwezikazi (4/5): Disappointing - It was nothing like the pictures. The place is old, no decorations and it’s cold. It’s dingy and shady looking. I went out to grab something to eat and I came back the security had locked the property. I had to bang on the glass doors to get in. The staff are also unfriendly like they’re doing you a favour. You also have to pay for parking which they are supposed to have a remote to but they didn’t. I had to wait for the club next door to open for me.
- Laguma (8/5): Very good -
- Erasmus (7/5): Good - Being in the middle of a busy street was very nice, and overlooking the street. There was no toilet paper and the towls was small and not enough.
- Fisher (10/5): Exceptional -
- Joseph (8/5): Very good -
- Mitchell (2/5): grotty - location is central The staff are helpful, but the overall impression is sadly lacking. Our room had windows that had been forced open and did not lock. It was on a low floor. The restaurant across the road was noisy. We asked for another room. This one had no smart tv, no seating inside the room, and there was no hot water, but I assumed it would heat up by the morning. It did not. Previously the hotel had free parking on a first come first served basis in the parking lot alongside the hotel, this time we arrived to discover there was no parking at all. We had to pay R140 to park in the Spar parking lot overnight.
- Yolande (3/5): Disappointing experience - Location was excellent There was not parking, you had to pay for parking or park off-street. First night in found a big cockroach in the kitchen cupboard. The kettle was broken and when we foned for help or replacement they had a attitude.
- Andre (8/5): Very good -
- Gous (9/5): Gous - Some cloth to wipe counters in kitchen and a mop to wipe floor after shower. The lack of cloth to wipe
- Haniefa (9/5): Superb -
- Anve (1/5): bad facilities - shower, mirror, I hope this message finds you well. I would like to provide an update regarding the room I have currently booked and am occupying, which will inevitably influence my review after 10:00 AM on Sunday.
The issues I have encountered include:
The bathroom basin plug is broken.
The air-conditioning unit is non-functional.
The television has poor reception and no access to internet-based services, despite the presence of Wi-Fi.
There is no hairdryer available, contrary to what was advertised.
The balcony lacks a table, as depicted in the promotional photographs.
There is no seating area (such as a couch), again contrary to the images shown.
The fridge is leaking.
Several floor tiles are cracked.
One side of the bed is significantly lower than the other, making it quite uncomfortable.
I brought most of these matters to the attention of the reception staff on Friday evening and was assured that a better room would be arranged. Unfortunately, I am still awaiting any further communication or resolution.
- Abigail (3/5): Not worth my money at all. - The location The room was not modern. The furniture was rusted outside.
- Van (8/5): Loved the stay - Didnt have breakfast Kettle gave in....for a coffee addict thats not good...lol
- Petersen (8/5): Very good -

No coffee in the room
- Lihan (5/5): Passable - The Smart TV and white linen Out dated furniture, broken couch, rusted patio set
- Altaira (7/5): Great value - Location! room size More outlets
- Ethané (7/5): Good -
- Orisha (5/5): Left much to be desired - Staff is very friendly The blurred TV channels only with SABC and ETV, no coffee in the rooms only tea.
- O'connor (5/5): Passable -
- Diamond (10/5): Exceptional -
- Beverley (10/5): Exceptional - I requested to book in earlier than usual .
The staff went over and above to assist me with this .
They were super friendly and very helpful .
I will definitely be returning .
They get a 10 from me
- Marlene (6/5): Pleasant - The place is run-down, some low-cost maintenance will go a long way in improving the experience.
- Belincia (9/5): Superb - Enjoyable Room and balcony
- Eric (8/5): Very good -
- Aileen (7/5): Good -
- Vanessa (6/5): Good value for the amount I paid. For the price I paid it was good. - Location is good and I had an aircon and desk as requested. Overall it is clean, but the appliances are old. There is no parking so I had to pay R 180 per night for parking a block down. The facilities are old and the bedroom was right above the refuse removal site. So every night there was a lot of noise and a bad smell from taking out the garbage from the restaurant below. No parking, so I had to pay R 180 per night to park a block down. The shower is in the bath tub.
- Lunetta (5/5): Passable - Rooms need an update. The couch is pealing
- Ayanda (9/5): Superb - Loved the welcoming from the staff and guidance towards the room. Loved the ease access towards the rooms. Loved the safety of the facility with great security guy who made sure every time I arrived way in the mornings, he was able to let me in and asked " you look way Okay my boss, enjoy the sleeping" I didn't like that when I booked it stated double bed and they provided me with two single beds that were put next to each other to make a double bed, was very uncomfortable when sleeping.
- Dylan (1/5): Bad - The rooms are definitely not a true representation of what is advertised online. Old/outdated/dirty and uncomfortable.
- Madeleine (8/5): Very good -
- Samantha (5/5): Passable - Address Not maintained. No parking included. Rooms are sparse and dirty - nothing like photos.
- Debbie (6/5): Pleasant - We did not eat breakfast in the hotel. Our room was comfortable, but noisy at night. The shower/bath was very dangerous. We slipped a couple of times trying to climb out. Grab bars are very necessary. My 85 and 90 year old parents really struggled with the shower. The shower handle fell off on one occasion. We arrived back at the hotel at 1 am after a wedding, and could not unlock our door with the key card. Eventually found a night guard to finally was able to unlock our door.
We enjoyed the kitchenette in our room. It was a very convenient location and staff was very friendly and helpful. The hotel needs a lot of upgrades
- Johan (5/5): Passable -
- Babatunde (1/5): Bad -
- Valian (4/5): Disappointing - Bathroom needs an upgrade. every time you shower the floor is wet.
Asked for more towels did not get any, had 2 towels for 3 days.
- Ryan (5/5): Passable - no PArking -
and the curtian rail was broken- i checked in late - i could not close the curtian - i asked to fix it - just needed a screwdriver- they said they had to wait for maintaiance team the next day street noise, and broken curtian rail
- Francois (6/5): The staff went out of their way to make the stay nice. However, the hotel room was bare bones with old, not well kept in - Location
Downstairs restaurant and coffee shops.
The staff is wonderful. The rooms are dated.
Furniture and infrastructure is old and not maintained well.
- Ruth (10/5): - The front desk staff were amazing. I was so impressed with their detail and kindness. They made my stay welcoming. As a solo disabled traveler they made me feel safe and care for. Thank you.
- Falzetta (7/5): Good -
- Francesca (10/5): Exceptional - The staff where very friendly and eager to assist wherever they could! They went out of their way to ensure we had everything we needed and help us storing our luggage. Very happy with this experience, will definitely recommend. The only thing I could fault with them is the fact that you only get 1 access card to get in and out, would have been nice if there was 2 issued as I was not staying alone at the accommodation and having to wait for the other person to get back before being able to go was a bit of hassle...
- Knut (8/5): - Helt greit hotell hvis du ikke krever masse luksus. Budde der i 2 uker.
- Peter (10/5): Exceptional -
- Katz (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ann (2/5): Bad - Fals publication on site. Room needs repair and not like in photos.
- Schneppe (8/5): Very good -
- Damian (4/5): Disappointing - Location Aircon not working and no parking, had to pay for parking at a shopping centre
- Amy (7/5): Good value for money, safe stay in a popular area, was easy to get places, good restaurants beneath hotel - Perfect location, right above brunch bar with incredible food. Price is really good for where you are. Rooms are basic but we felt it was clean. Room service was good and cleaners were polite and thorough. Lack of facilities, we booked a suite with street view, room didn’t look like the picture and our balcony was above the bins out the back. We had a cockroach in our room. No tv remote and when asked the staff multiple times for a tv remote they kept saying they would sort it but never did. Would have wasted a lot less time by just saying the tv didn’t work.
- Donna (6/5): Was a good stay - Staff were great. Location great. Food in Jarryds was amazing. WiFi worked. Noisy at night. Very overlooked. Needs updating.
- Martin (9/5): Superb - We got this for a bargain price. The room was huge & the location very central to seapoint shops, bars etc
- Wai Ching (2/5): - AVOID AT ALL COST; The room is generally clean and spacious and well equipped, however the lack of table is rather inconvenient, and it is very noisy with street traffic and pedestrians even on weekday nights, and seagulls are super noisy during dawn. Also weird that the upper part of the toilet window cannot be closed.
I was "fortunate" enough to be in town and staying at this hotel while load shedding (i.e. adhoc power outage) happened and the staff didn't bother to inform this to myself obviously as a first-time foreign visitor. The power cut off during midnight on the first night. At first I thought unlike all other hotels, this hotel isn't equipped with backup generator. To my revelation later, they do have backup generator but only used during daytime outage to protect the bistros downstairs. During night time they just don't use it and don't care the overnight stayers at all. Never stay here, my real words.
- John (9/5): Superb - Great stay.
- Rodgers (10/5): Exceptional -
- Stanley (6/5): Pleasant -
- Neil (10/5): Exceptional -
- Vicky (9/5): Superb - Restaurants below was amazing. Food fantastic and staff lovely. Great vibe Just a bit basic
- Joan (9/5): Great location. - The location was great. Easy access to tourist attractions with bus routes and Uber drivers as well as restaurants and grocery stores. Loved the top floor outside areas. Allowed us to gather as a group everymight with lovely views. This was an unexpected bonus. Room service could be more aware of refilling complimentary toiletries and tea and coffee as well as hand and floor towels.
- Freda (7/5): We were there with a group so being able to all be close to each other was good. We enjoyed the outdoor areas on the to - Central position A lot of the items in the unit didn’t work and also the lack of items in the unit. Difficult getting into the bath to shower
- Rix (7/5): Good -
- Nomalungelo (10/5): Exceptional -
- Gershon (8/5): Very good -
- Sam (7/5): Good - The location and room were okay. The parking is an issue - and one needs to pay for it at a ridiculous rate.
- Adam (10/5): Great value for money hotel in a perfect location to base yourself whilst in Cape Town. Plenty of bars and restaurants i - Extremely good value for money in an unbeatable location No dislikes and will choose this hotel again for sure
- Ursula (7/5): Good -
- Erhardt (10/5): Exceptional - Quiet
Safe
Nice big room.
Friendly staff
Well priced
Perfect location. Place has got very popular and usually fully booked over summer time
- Avril (5/5): Disappointing accomodation due to misleading photos when booking. - The hotel was in a very convenient position near to many bars and restaurants. It was fairly spacious with a separate bedroom. The towels in the bathroom were changed daily and the toiletries were kept well stocked. Plenty of hot water. The place needs a complete renovation and the pictures on booking.com do not reflect the accomodation now although I wonder if they ever did. It is dingy, the decor is grubby, lampshades stained, bed throws stained. No hairdryer. Only one small, marked mirror in the bathroom. No dish towel to dry dishes. Tiles in the bathroom stained. It is definitely not a boutique hotel!!
- Jade (8/5): Very good -
- Kelly (9/5): Excellent location, staff were friendly and restaurant on the ground floor was fabulous. - Fabulous location, close to restaurants and bars, great views from the balcony (which was huge). Bed was extremely comfortable. Kitchen lacked a sharp knife and dishcloth, very basic.
- Asanda (10/5): Exceptional -
- Mike (8/5): Very good -
- Lani (8/5): Very good - Amazing location. Friendly staff. Great value
- Minette (8/5): Very good -
- Vanessa (5/5): Really good position but service could have been better. - Good position .
Nice veranda No electricity in one of the rooms and no AIRCON remote. Towels not sorted in the morning.
- Eva (8/5): Very good -
- Lutfiyah (10/5): Exceptional -
- Matthew (8/5): A pleasant stay overall - The location is great and the price for the old rooms The wifi is awful, keeps dropping out. It really needs a complete overhaul when the rooms get remodelled.
- Gert (8/5): Very good -
- Michelle (7/5): Shabby Chic great location but now too shabby. - We’ve stayed here many times but no money is being spent on maintenance. Staff are outstanding, probably the reason we come back every January. But, room, this time, top floor, hole in roof, birds flying in and out, some Seagull types are pretty large and pretty noisy. Wifi, need a code but no code given at checkin, had to go back down to reception. Key card, only one per room, sometimes my husband and I want to do separate things, convenient to have a keycard for each of us, which they used to do, this year, no, answer was “one room one key card”. Which could have worked except the complimentary wifi does not extend to the lobby. (I went to the beach whilst my husband worked, came back, tried to message him from lobby, network not available). Room safe was INOP. In room power sockets are very old style SA, no USB and both our different multi country travel adaptors could not access the ancient power sockets. Not on considering the price they charge. (Throughout our 4 weeks traveling the country, we saw numerous rooms with a USB charging point, accommodation at half the price of the Amalfi. Many had lamps or battery lights with a USB socket or the newer SA 2 pin socket which a multi travel adaptor can access). For this reason alone, we will sadly not be staying here next January. We have to travel a lot when we come, we need Google maps, we need to keep a phone charged and we can’t at the Amalfi. The old style SA power sockets in room which are no use to visitors with multi travel adaptors. no USB charging sockets in room, only one key card per room when you’re a couple with things to do separately. No information sheet in room, eg with wifi code, how to contact reception, (when the birds accessed the hole in the roof knocking down tiles which narrowly missed my husbands head) TV instructions etc.
- Carlotta (7/5): Great value for money for a well located hotel in Sea Point. - Very clean and lovely staff. Super easy and convenient location. A bit noisy at night and it was annoying not having a proper double bed (it’s two singles pushed together)
- Engelbrecht (10/5): Exceptional -
- Wesley (10/5): Exceptional -
