- sandracG1272VJ (6/5): Beautiful Property in Need of updates - Visited the hotel with a group..
hotel is a beautiful property with an awesome location . Staff out did themselves to please all of the group’s needs. The Spa and massager awesome.
But unfortunately the hotel do need some tender loving care and updating. No hot water, air conditioning needs to be colder in heat weather , new towels and bed sheets, some areas needs painting, rooms need to be refreshed or opened up if expecting arrivals, some doors needs doorslatchs .
I have visited this hotel in the past, it is sad to see the property going to waste.
Hope Owners can invest and do some remodeling or updates.
Wishing all the Best!
- Zackery (6/5): - This place was cool 15 years ago, and hasn’t been updated. Our room seemed like it was falling apart, cracked walls, stained sheets and robes.
Food was overly processed, drinks were bottom shelf.
The pictures made it seem way cooler than it was.
The bikes were rusted and falling apart, totally unsafe to ride.
- Teresa (8/5): - It’s less people so enjoy the quiet. You will have the pool to yourself and the restaurants too. That comes with its own issues, less variety in some instances. But the bigger pla
- KatherineAD204 (10/5): Just the relaxing. Vacation we needed - We just came back from our fourth visit to Kore. I wasnt sure what to expect after reading some reviews but i must say the whole time we were there the employees were painting and cleaning. They work so hard in that heat! (While we drank margaritas ;-) !) We were lucky to have great weather just light shower at night some times. So peacefful sitting on the restaurant terrace eating breakfast. One night it was the mayan shaman night. Would greatly recommend this hotel for couples. Its very romantic we sat many times on those nice wooden sun beds looking out to the ocean
- Mailen (10/5): - Everything was amazing but the food
- STANLEY (4/5): - The KORE Tulum property is not as advertised.
A list of things that my travel companion and I were heavily displeased with:
1. I was unable to get in contact with either the resort or Expedia when trying to see about the possibility of a shuttle from Tulum airport, or to attempt to book spa treatments or excursions early. Nobody picked up phones and nobody responded to emails either. This forced me to rent a car for the duration of our stay.
2. There is no SPA. Yet, the spa is advertised on the Kore Tulum website. One of the days we were there a woman was offering massages on a chair outside of the spa building which seemed to be condemned.
3. The website advertised 2-3 restaurants, there was only one available. That should be mentioned at booking.
4. There was a swim up bar but we only saw a bartender at the swim up bar ONE time in 5 days.
5. We walked around the resort grounds - KORE seems to be a resort that was nice once, and then something happened - what that something is, we could not tell.
6. The resort is adjacent to the entrance for a national park. During the day the military closes the direct entrance to the hotel and forces all vehicles to use the national park entrance. On two occasions we were told we had to pay the park entrance fee in order to get to our hotel each time.
We complained to the staff at KORE, they came out and assisted then the next time KORE gave us a brown band to deal with that issue.
Something must be done to offset our experience.
- Levi Garret (10/5): - So I enjoyed our stay with kore everyone was very nice to us helped us with everything we needed. The staff was really friendly I walked into the kitchen at close and was going to get food somewhere else but they sat me and my fiancée down and made us a Togo dinner and don’t be afraid of renting a scooter and exploring tulum it’s very safe just be respectful
- Abhay (10/5): - Well maintained property surrounded with beautiful natural environment
- NOBBY2989 (2/5): WORST HOLIDAY RESORT EVER!!! - Worst place I’ve ever stayed in!!! The resort is in much need of a refurbishment, very tired looking, all thatched roofs falling apart, with large holes in them. When it rained, the water came through the roof of our block like Niagara Falls! We was trapped in our room until cleaners came and cleared up the flooded corridors and stairs! All inclusive it definitely WASN’T, all food was from a small menu, for breakfast, Lunch and Dinner! Only 1 Restaurant, not two as advertised, and the so called restaurant that was there, definitely wasn’t “Al a Carte”!!! We was served by waiters who wanted tips every day!! No nice buffet to go help yourself (as advertised!!) The food was inedible, absolutely disgusting! Mexico is the biggest producer of avocados, and yet for 5 days we was told, we have none?? So No guacamole?? Every day we was told what was NOT available from the limited menu! We spent a fortune eating out!! No snack bars as advertised, no poolside snack bar as advertised, no Cafe as advertised. You had to argue with waiters to be served premium drinks, otherwise you was served low cost substitute alcohol. No bottles of water in the only restaurant, only warm water from so called water coolers around the complex, which looked really grubby… NO entertainment whatsoever, even though it was advertised!!! When we arrived at 10.30pm after travelling for over 23 hours, we was expecting some snacks at least and a drink? We was told there was nothing available?!! We asked for Room Service and was told the Kitchen was closed?!! We went to bed hungry… There was only 2 rusty old bikes to hire out for residents, for a 90 + room resort??!! Air-conditioning was constantly breaking down during the night, which made sleeping really difficult, and uncomfortable. Constant power cuts, which somehow turned the water supply off?!! No kettle in the room as advertised, just a coffee machine with no instructions how to use it! The Jacuzzi bath on the terrace took nearly 2 hours to fill up!! The mini mart offered 7 day opening, on the day we departed (Tues) we wanted to buy some bits, but it was shut?!!
Basically this place is a joke!! Totally ruined our experience of Mexico, we was very disappointed!! Not worth the money we paid. This resort is being falsely advertised by Tour Operators!! We booked through LoveHolidays.
- valeria (6/5): - Only one dinning option, the staff is nice but not helpful (our phone didn’t work and nobody ever came to fix it) there are worn down areas, but it was very quiet and we did love that
- I6602NNjg (4/5): Not worth it - Be careful. Property desperately needs update. Exercise equipment is not safe to use.
No stocked first aid kits or AEDs on premises.
Bugs noted in hotel room. Still in room after cleaning.
First night ordered room service and sandwich arrived on moldy bread.
No such thing as “3 restaurants or yoga” -no activities at all!
Staff converted a US $20 bill and shorted me on pesos. (Guess they thought Americans can’t do math hah)
If you are not considered one of their “special” guests, you won’t get timely service.
Required “beach” tax is a joke! $35 fee for small sandy area but no direct access to water as property surrounded by steep rocks.
The spa is a rip-off-pedicure did not even include nail trim and had to be redone the next day as the polish was chipped and looked like a child did the pedicure.
I have more but ran out of room. You pay for what you get and in this case-a bargain was NOT a bargain.
- 686chadwicks (8/5): We enjoyed our stay. We had one negative event (be advised) - We enjoyed our stay at the resort. The food was excellent. The resort is located in an excellent location. The food and beverage staff are friendly.
We had one negative event of theft. The housekeeping staff stole money from our room when we were at breakfast. I don’t blame the hotel for this as we should never have left money in our room.
Advise: always take your money with you. Never leave it in the room unattended.
- VPSpecial (8/5): Girls trip to Mexico! - Beautiful spa hotel with delicious freshly cooked food! The All Inclusive was always prepared and freshly cooked upon order. The cocktails were fantastic - Mimosa every morning was fab! The staff were very attentive and welcoming. The hotel poolside had beautiful scenery leading onto the beach. There is also a small snack bar at the beach - amazing seafood. Weather in April was hot enough to sunbathe. Lots of excursions available. Playa Paraiso beach was gorgeous! Chichen Itza Tour: Cenote and Tequila Tasting was the finishing touch!!!
- Mauricio (6/5): - The staff was helpful, but we didn’t appreciate the dinner staff directly asking for a tip - it felt unprofessional and made us uncomfortable. The property clearly had a lot of money put into it initially, but unfortunately, maintenance seems almost non-existent or at best, minimal.
Every treadmill in the gym is broken, and some other machines barely function—again, a clear lack of upkeep. All four outdoor jacuzzis were lukewarm at best, not properly heated. The room itself was spacious and nice, but we noticed maintenance issues like burnt-out bulbs, a dripping shower, and a loose faucet barely hanging on - again, no maintenance.
Lastly, while the property is right in front of the beach, there’s no direct beach access as it sits on a rocky shoreline.
- Raul (2/5): - Gym equipment all broken
- Maps786453 (8/5): Enjoyed our stay at Kore Tulum - My wife and i enjoyed our stay at Kore Tulum. The resort buildings are showing some wear but the grounds are landscaped beautifully. The stuff was friendly and attentive especially after we got to know them. Location was great. Walking distance to Jaguar Park and Hotel district and a quick bike ride to downtown. I recommend for a private low key time to get away,
- Krissy (4/5): - I tried to enjoy this property to the best of my abilities. The villias with the jacuzzi tubs should not be advertised as the water trinkles out. It would take the entire day if not more to fill up. There is limited food options.
- claudiapN5690KH (2/5): THEIR SERVICE IS REALLY BAD. It does feel like a SCAM, be aware. - I made a reservation on their website but canceled it two months after the arrival date. The booking was fully charged to my credit card and still hasn't been reversed, even after two months.
They don't answer the telephone, neither the email.
------
Hice una reserva en su página web pero la cancelé dos meses después de la fecha de llegada. La reserva se cargó íntegramente a mi tarjeta de crédito y aún no se ha revertido, incluso después de dos meses.
No contestan el teléfono, ni el email.
- Sarah (2/5): - Would not recommend this property or trusting expedia in their listings. The property was supposed to have two restaurants. There was only one and the food was a) nothing like as pictured and b) with an extremely limited selection. There was supposed to be a spa. This was closed during my entire stay without a warning or discount. My room was fine but over the windows there were giant duct tape X's so that there couldn't be an unobstructed view. Staff often took a long time to respond to requests, even once I asked them to fill the tub and several hours passed without someone coming even after a reminder. The room service closes without warning. You pay a fee when you arrive to enter the national park which the hotel borders on, and then you have to pay again to actually enter the park as the hotel doesn't have an agreement with them? The plastic cups were cheap, nothing was really as pictured, and expedia has offered no compensation for this completely misadvertised listing, saying "the property has to approve the refund and they do not", even though the property told me in person that they would. Go somewhere else in Tulum. At the very least somewhere with beach access so you can escape your accommodation if you run into the same misfortune.
- Rowan (8/5): - A quiet resort , needs some tlc to give it life again,
Good location
- Mette (4/5): - Property is in need of some TLC. The place is rundown and sad looking.
- JORDAN (2/5): - Disgusting hotel.
I left after 1 night (was supposed to have 6 in total).
I was having no water in the room. As a policy they shut it down between midnight to 6am every night.
I was promised a refund but the hotel manager is not responding to Expedia and not answering the phone nor messages
Stay away this place is a pure scam!!!!!!
- Fahad (2/5): - We left after our first night there. Couldn’t get our money back for the remainder of our stay.
- Gil Igal (2/5): - If I could give 0 stars I would.
No water between midnight to 6am.
As a matter of policy, they simply turn it off.
Described to me as a “little inconvenience” by the lady in the reception, who confirmed it’s every night like this.
We booked 6 nights with this hotel and left after the first night.
The morning after upon checking out I demanded to get a refund for the rest of the nights I was told
By another receptionist that it’s just a one time thing, Don’t believe them if they tell you that it’s an issue that resolved, it’s not.
I mean at least be honest with me and don’t lie!
When I requested the refund they said I need to contact the agent I booked from - which was Expedia, which I did. They claim that the booking was done through “Hotel beds”, website I never heard of and claim they didn’t get any message from Expedia about my refund, thought I have chat screenshots and records of all communications with Expedia and with the hotel.
Doesn’t look at all like the photos, very dirty and disappointing.
Please, do yourself a favor, stay away!!!!!
- Parisa (4/5): - The property needs a TOTAL renovation. It was dirty, with walls full of crack. Not happy at all and won’t come back again!
- Latasha (2/5): - ood morning Fenriquez
We checked into Kore Tulum on Friday
Jan. 3, 2025, during the check in process we were informed about the policy of lost keys and lost bracelets. However we were not informed about the water being turned off at certain time of the night. We left our room around 9pm and returned to the hotel with no running water, which is totally unacceptable. The hot tub was dirty and prior to leaving the hotel the water in the hot tub the water pressure was very low. Are returning to our room after a long night on vacation we were hit very a very uncomfortable unpleasant situation to not being able to take a shower. The front staff members inconveniently offered us to walk to another building in the late night to take a shower for 10 different people. This is not how I expected my vacation to be. This morning we asked to be changed to another building and room because the staff informed us that water will be shut off every night from 12am to 5am. Also the water temperature was cold this morning once the water was turned back on. We are requesting to be moved into new rooms where the water is not being shut off! The staff Sebastian stated the water is only turn off in building 1 and 2! This is not fair that we pay our money to stay and can’t enjoy and nice how shower once we come in from our night out. The shower towels were dirty the sheets! This was the worst hotel i have ever stayed in.
- Trenae (2/5): - This is the worst property ever save yourself and do not stay here there was no running water st night jacuzzi didn’t work and that was an upgrade. There was no help from Expedia or staff regarding this matter we had to be back before 11 to shower we were offered another room not to switch but to shower in .
- Domonic (2/5): - mole unclean no water AC, not working
- imani (2/5): - I would like to request a full Refund just for my Stay I had the absolute most horrendous experience in my entire life at the resort we stayed in. Upon arrival they informed us about the room key and wrist band me and party went out to eat came back to the ac not working and no running water when we told the staff they said there was nothing they can do about it we had to go to another room to shower which was about a 5 min walk outside in the dark the next morning we were told the water would be back on and wasn’t the water pressure was really low an there was no hot water please do something about this manner I spoke with the resort ppl an informed them that I would be requesting a full refund and they said to go through the booking agency also the restaurant we ate at the menu was out of everything the whole experience was horrible and a waste of time in a beautiful country
- Markeasha (2/5): - From the time of arrival my experience was horrible. They had my reservations wrong and refused to help resolve the issue. When I asked for management they again refused to allow me to speak with management the entire time. Once night fell and I wanted to shower from a long day of travel; there was no water. The staff stated they turn the water off every night until 5am. This was the most inconvenient thing I have ever heard of. The towels left in the room were dingy as ever. They basically looked black they were so nasty. The hot tub I had in the room for up charge did not work. I asked for a microwave and staff told me the microwave was in the restaurant and when I went to the restaurant who stated there is no microwave it’s broke. The entire resort was nasty, old and looks like it’s closed down. My entire stay was horrible. I am requesting a refund for my stay as I have discussed with the resort staff as well.
- 636debl (2/5): Give this one a BIG miss. - If there were 0 stars available, we would have chosen that rating. Bear with us if you do not want to have this particular bad experience. It appears the bad reviews have been removed from the Kore Tulum website and ours will no doubt disappear as well.
We have travelled to 33 countries in 40 years and the Kore Tulum stands out as the worst property we have ever visited. We travel with a sense of humor and an open mind, but this one took the cake. It was touted by Sunwing (Westjet) as a special offer of only $4648.00 US per couple rather than over $9400.00 US - the usual price. Sunwing indicated we would have a "luxury garden view", all inclusive, "international a la carte cuisine" and entertainment. It had NONE of that. When we arrived at 10:00 p.m. there was no food and not even a cup of coffee available. (There was ONE cup in our room, so I guess we could have made one cup). The room was fine (and the cleaning staff were good, working within the limitations they had with towels with shredded edges and old style sheets that slid around the bed). We took towels off the laundry carts when available. We went to the phone the day after arrival to indicate the TV wasn't working, only to find the telephone didn't work either. And our "luxury garden view" from our ground floor patio was a dump area for old equipment, bottles, cardboard and when the decrepit fence around it fell down on the second night- a multitude of other junk was exposed. Nice view. We managed to maintain our sense of humor HOWEVER, of the 30 meals we consumed in the 5 days...only 2 were edible. That was the end of our sense of humor. One day we would order a fried egg HARD, and we would emphasis HARD and knock on the table, with "Mexican pastries" (which are little hard buns). And one day we got that. The next time we got 2 eggs running all over the plate with a blob of quacamole and 2 taco chips stuck in it. The "beef filet" was skirt steak or flank steak- inedible. The "international" dish of fettucine alfredo was loaded with curry, or some Mexican spice like curry - Inedible. The "pancakes and syrup" were edible but they HAVE no "syrup" and no concept of what it is. The "hamburgers” are a strange kind of mushy meatloaf - edible but awful. Of the dishes offered each day (which were few except for “Mexican Night”) at least 3 a day the waiter would point out that they "no have". We could go on about the food- but won't. 3 of the 6 hotel towers were decrepit with broken windows taped, and there were holes in almost every roof of the 6 towers. There is NO entertainment unless you count some of the waiters singing. 2 of the 5 days there was metal cutting on metal in the dump "view area" of our deck. It was deafening and went from 10 am to 5 pm. We counted approximately 40 people there that week and almost as many employees. You do the math. This place can't possibly be profitable in our opinion. The mystery is how it is still in business with Sunwing still promoting it.
We blame Sunwing for not checking/verifying the property and continuing the charade with what we consider to be misleading advertising. The result? We will not return to Mexico or book another trip with Sunwing/Westjet.
- Ghanshyam (2/5): - This property was so awful that me and my family checked out after just one night.
The towels were not clean, nor were the rooms. "Room Service" did not exist. I took pictures of the clumps of chlorine in the pool. Two restaurants were advertised; the hotel only had one.
The list of problems with the place is endless.
It is fraudulent of Expedia to advertise this hotel the way that it does. There should be laws against this.
- barryp384 (4/5): Management has destroyed a wonderful resort - Kore Tulum
We have stayed at Kore Tulum for 10 out of the past 13 years. This year the overall mismanagement, lack of staff training, serious reduction in the quality and availability of food and services makes Kore Tulum no longer a desirable resort. We are not the only critics. We have talked to other guests (new and returners) who are equally appalled (and saddened) by what appears to be management’s decision to virtually abandon the hotel.
We stayed in a wonderful suite each year. This year, unlike all earlier years, we had to wait 3 hours they said were needed to clean it. It usually takes 40 minutes for their most thorough cleaning.
Some specifics: at many lunches there is no menu – just an offering of 3-4 things. The quality of the food available is poor. There are few services -- yoga, etc. that were originally provided) Overall, the staff are nice but many lack the training to provide the level of service expected for what we are paying. If there is a manager, we have never seen him or her; there is no indication of competent oversight -- no one to talk to about our concerns – with the exception of the very bright woman at the main desk.
Some suggest the current manager is taking money off the top and I can believe this.
We have loved Kore Tulum’s setting and are very sad to lose it as our annual December vacation. We very much hope that the owners and management decide to invest, hire excellent new management, train staff and maintain the facility so that all your guests return and enjoy Kore Tulum again. If not, close it down instead of offering guests something that is never delivered.
Bye to what was a very good establishment in previous years. It will take a lot to fix up this place and win back all the customers lost this year. It is sad.
- Rosalie (4/5): - The property has potential if the hotelanagers or administration would invest in the up keep. Food was very limited, no activities directly from the hotel, you needed to book with another hotel in order to do activities. The staff was really friendly and very respectful and willing to accommodate, but they can't help the limitations that they are up against.
- Omar (2/5): - Updated maintenance of the property is BADLY needed. Room had mildew smell. Sheets didn’t smell fresh.
- William T (10/5): - You stay with tha nature and the sound of the ocean. Paradise place
- Amy (4/5): - Not what we expected. The check in process left a lot to be desired, we were not provided any instructions on the hotel (such as dining hours, pool towels or wifi) or given a map. After being led to our room, we found it had only been partially cleaned before our arrival. Stains were present on the furniture, the lock was broken on the door etc. During our stay we had to phone the front desk for multiple issues in the room (AC stopped working, water leaking through the roof) and we did have a prompt response to those concerns. The majority of staff were absolutely lovely. The grounds were well maintained despite the buildings themselves being a little run down. We found that the pool bar was only manned occasionally leading to some difficulties getting drinks throughout the day. The website for the hotel lists three different restaurants, however it is really one restaurant with three different menus that vary throughout the week. There was no buffet, it was all food that had to be ordered. Also, not once in our week long stay did they have all items lists on the menu.
- Josh (8/5): - Our experience here was better than average based on the reviews. For travel on a budget, we had a great time. There were plenty of things that didn't work, or weren't available, but I found myself enjoying the things that did and were.
We had some standout staff members who were super friendly, like Faustino and Fernando, that made us some of the best margaritas we have ever drank! The food we had was flavourful, served quickly, and felt good to eat (no sickness here). The room was comfortable, clean, and quiet, even during the storm that came in through the week.
The downsides were mostly that some of the facilities need maintenance. Our AC didn't work, and neither did the jets in our jacuzzi (though it did get clean hot water!). Apart from that there were some limited options when it came to food, even running out of beer entirely for a day.
A few more staff, more frequent restocking, and some maintenance would have made this trip a 5/5.
For the price we paid, with the expectations we had, I would recommend Kore to anyone traveling for all-inclusive on a budget.
- Zachary (4/5): - Very old and outdated. The property needs a lot of maintenance. The staff is great and responsive. Many of the problems are out of their control. The food was good, but all of the deserts we had were not very good. A lot of gym equipment is broken. It seems like a very neglected place and it used to be a great place to come. Again, the staff are amazing.
Check out more recent reviews of this place before staying. I think we came at the beginning of the season and they were getting everything ready and back in the swing of things.
- ENRIQUE (2/5): - Skeleton staff 1 place to eat no managers on duty to speak to NOT 1. Was charged a few to leave
- Jaz'men (6/5): - Kore is a very big resort but not a lot of people. If you're looking for something fun this isn't the place. It's more for an older crowd. Everything was nice besides the food. It's only 1 restaurant on the resort it serves breakfast lunch & dinner but the food isn't good.
- Aracely (10/5): - Very clean, friendly
- Rasheed (8/5): - The Staff was very friendly
- Lisa D (2/5): - This place says it’s a four which maybe 21/2 they count how much they give suppose to have breakfast buffet they did not and didn’t even have the menu items. Caught staff having sex on empty room. No airconditioning in half the rooms. Staff is rude and lie!! This place is a dump.
- Javonda (2/5): - Bad experience
- Michael Steven (6/5): - The menu is very limited as it is only one restaurant.
The resort definitely needs some upgrades as it is showing its age
- hilal (2/5): - the food ia terrible
- Geeti Ara (10/5): - Great service and food options with room service included. Great stay!
- Nathalie (4/5): - The physical property is nice. They have so much potential if they fix everything else.
That being said, their food is HORRIBLE. They didn’t have multiple restaurants as stated the one restaurant. For every meal, more than half the menu was unavailable. Of what they had, most of it didn’t taste good. They also barely had basic things like juice. The margaritas were rank. Most of the servers were rude as well. It’s like they wanted to be upset with you for asking questions about what they had available. I even had one walk away from me during breakfast while I was asking him questions for clarity.
Lastly, the front desk staff is a bit oblivious too. S
- Rodney (4/5): - The best things going for this property are the pool, the view of the ocean and the restaurant staff.
I’m not sure what happened prior to my stay, but some days we were with that water. The restaurant barely had items on the menu, the soda didn’t even have carbonated water lol.
I don’t know why this property is still being listed as a top-notch resort. There was tape all over a lot of windows
Advertising the spy is a joke , as it was in ruins and not operable. The workout room smelled horrible and the equipment barely worked.
There were NO CENOTES Available until the day we were leaving.
The mini bar was empty when we got there, and when we left, it only had four things in it.
There were water stains all over the ceilings,
The AC barely worked. The TV kept going in and out, and the villa is poorly lit.
It is really indeed of some love and attention.
- Barbara (10/5): - It could be more light in the rooms. Beautiful resort.
The bartender at the pool was nice and awesome. The bar inside the resort was nice and the bartender was always nice.
- Guadalupe (8/5): - Quiet and peaceful. Nice staff.
- Erika (6/5): - For the low price I was satisfied and there were certain things like the cool forest jungle vibe and the view of the ocean from the pool that were really nice.
The food and drinks were not good but good enough to eat. We only got 2 small bottles of water per day, room service didn't have wine available to order. There is only one restaurant.
There is no beach access, I guess I wrongly assumed this when booking.
There are no free activities.
There is a free bike rental which is nice because nothing is walking distance and the resort didn't have anything to do other than sleep, eat or go to the pool or gym but despite how vacant the resort seemed, the bike rental was often unavailable and at full use.
This place is not luxury it's mid level, if you're satisficed with basic needs being met and a nice vibe in Tulum I highly recommend it however if you have decent high standards for feeling like you're being treated really well and staff goes above and beyond I don't recommend this place.
- Nadia Ariana (2/5): - DO NOT BOOK HERE. I booked this hotel for my boyfriend and I and it was an absolute horrible experience. I seen the ratings 8/10 on Expedia and as I go back to write a review I can see how their ratings dropped within A MONTH. It is NOT ALL INCLUSIVE. First day we were there, the water in the shower was not draining and backing up. We were in room 2201. The next day they moved us to room 3108. They did not have anyone help us with our luggage and all they did to compensate us was give us a dinner. We payed extra to have a room with a jacuzzi and when we turned the water on the tub was FILTHY. The staff was not friendly and gave attitude. Our tv also didn’t work for two days and it took them two days to resolve the issue by giving us a new tv in which took 5 minutes. It took them two days to resolve something that took only a couple minutes. When we went to the front to make them aware of the issue, Lizabeth did absolutely nothing to compensate us for the troubles. They only give you two small tiny water bottles a day if you’re lucky. They also charge $5 a small bucket of ice. NO FULLY STOCKED MINI BAR. The sheets and towels still felt and smelt dirty. There is NO BEACH access in the hotel and also NO CENOTE like they advertised. You have to walk about 10 minutes down to get to a beach which is at another hotel. We were unable to find the cenote advertised. The restaurant, yes only singular, had dry little choices and most of them were unavailable. Rentals are also not free.
- Angela (2/5): - This place was nothing like an All-Inclusive Resort at all, unfortunately. Everything about it was disappointing from the start and not like the experience the website advertised. There was suppose to be 2 restaurants, but there was only 1, and the “themed” dinner options every night were not the same as detailed on the website, and the food was absolutely terrible, like leftovers from another place’s buffet, barley warm & chewy like it had been sitting out all day. The alcoholic drinks were no better, watered down with minimal alcohol mixed in, if any. The staff treated us as if we were an inconvenience and unwelcome, instead of as paying guests. There was a hidden “environmental” fee that was never mentioned, and the website had also advertised Free Admission to Jaguar Park, but this was not true either. The free bike accommodation was available, but there were only a total of 4 to use, and 3 of them had chains that kept coming undone or flat tires. Normally not one to complain or write bad reviews, but I think in this case it’s important for future patrons to beware and know what they are really getting when they choose to stay at Kore “Retreat” Tulum. Hopefully they will take this feedback and make some major changes and adjustments for the better.
- sandra (8/5): - Food in dining was average. In my room the wrong coffee bag.
Woke up on my birthday to 3 big roaches and one was alive and crawling and the they didn’t even pick up one when cleaning.
Property beautiful but not very well maintained. Room was big and comfy and also clean.
- Jasmine (2/5): Very misleading and disappointing - This was overall the most disappointing experience of a vacation. Everything advertised on the website and on hotels.com is the furthest from the truth. They advertised all-inclusive however we couldn’t have mimosas with our breakfast because we couldn’t have alcohol until 11am. They advertised having 3 restaurants, they had one restaurant. The food had to be ordered, nothing buffet style, the options were limited daily. Not even cereal, bagels, fruit was out to serve ourselves. Many items were not available when it came time to order. Room service ends at 10:30pm (again supposed to be all inclusive). Our jacuzzi took almost 3 hours to fill up and very dirty. The jacuzzi next to the pool was broken. The shower pressure was off and on daily. The water barely came out after adjusting for at least 10 minutes. There were no activities on the days we went to the pool. While there was no desire to watch tv on vacation, with nothing else to do at times the TV was very small and didn’t work at times. The outlets were not charging our phones. Last but not least the workers were not the most friendly which made the experience even worse. Trying to make the best of a bad situation and then having to no have great service made this the worst travel experience for my partner and I. I do not recommend at all.
- Sindi (2/5): - -Only 1 restaurant available at this resort. Most of the food on the menu was unavailable. No chef, regular employees cooking in the kitchen. Therefore, most of the food on the menu did not match what they were cooking for you!
-No beach access from this resort!
-Yellow/gray, smelly bed sheets and pillows.
-Rude servers!
- Kamal (2/5): - At the end of the trip, they lost wifi for a whole day and lied and said it was the whole city of tulum when it was only the resort. We also found out their chef quit over a month ago so it was the resort workers that were cooking for us who probably don't have any experience on professional cooking.
Only one restaurant-2 mentioned in website.
Did not have most of what was on the menu. Same breakfast and lunch everyday.
Food gave me diarrhea.
AC did not work in the room.
Shower head pressure was weak
Stains and blood on the bed sheets and pillow.
Bed sheets old and gray not smell good.
Tub was filthy and water didn't turn on.
Room service would not provide me with water bottles or fridge beverages. Trying to be greedy and save in all areas such as food/beverages and bathroom supplies.
There is NO beach access.
There's barely any people at this resort, including workers.
This resort is not worth the $1700 I paid and the owner is ripping people off. You do not get the value out of the money you pay for towards this resort.
- Christopher (10/5): - Best service ever thank you to Sergio and the staff !
- Amiziyah (2/5): - For my first experience to Mexico, this resort was terrible. There were no amenities like stated on their website, no activities, there’s no access to the beach, they stole money out of our rooms, there was only one restaurant open when there was suppose to be two. There was barely anyone on the resort and the bartenders were getting frustrated that we were asking for a lot of drinks when we paid for an all inclusive stay. Then they only have bottom shelf liquor, my mini bar wasn’t filled with any snack nor drinks. I’m not sure why this resort is even open or how it even stays open.
- Catrina (2/5): - RUN, DO NOT STAY HERE! This place was not at all what we expected. It’s very rundown, the food is terrible, the rooms were not clean, the a/c unit smelled of mildew. The sound from joining rooms is so loud feels like your neighbors are in the same room as you. Save your money and go elsewhere.
- Jessica (6/5): - There was no adult entertainment, no drinking alcoholic beverages till after 11am. There was only one restaurant in the whole resort with limited options and they did not offer any buffet options which was advertised. There is no beach available to swim or to enjoy. The beach that’s closest to the resort is kinda far and you must pay an entrance fee. My best option is to go to a bigger resort.
- Jehan (10/5): - One of the best vacations I have had . Every staff member was amazing. Very friendly, accommodating, and went above and beyond .
We all called each other by name . They treated me and my husband like family . Everything was amazing , food , the room the stay . Loved it !
- Heath (6/5): - Property was not busy at all. Pool was ok. Got a room with hot tub, never worked, so the upgrade cost was wasted. Hot tubs by pool closed for work so on shade structure. Food was disappointing. Staff was all pretty good. It is a property in need of upgrades. Never did hear back on fixing our room hot tub or discount on room price. I would most likely not stay here again.
- Praise (6/5): - Mostly great staff. Love the quietness, Wines are a must to have let’s work on that. Not having beach access is hurting the hotel. Get more umbrellas at the pool.
- Deresa (2/5): - Property was with out power when it was booked. We were informed when we were going to check in. Now we have to dispute the charges since they wouldn’t refund then. We didn’t check in or go to the room since they couldn’t tell us a time of when the power would be restored.
- Evodie (10/5): - It waa fun
- Terrance (10/5): - Property was beautiful & right next to the ocean.
- Valerie (2/5): - HORRIBLE!!
we moved to 6 rooms in two days due to noAC’s in the rooms. On the 1st night room change #5, they made us sleep where staff sleeps. We found out in the morning. Room change#6 had AC but we were forced to take ice cold showers every day, they ran out of ice on the resort. We paid extra for a jacuzzi suite, the jacuzzi was broken. There is only one restaurant even tho it’s advertised as 3 on site. They consistently ran out of food from the menu daily. There was no swim up bar due to construction. There were no bottles of waters or drinks in the fridge even though, we booked an all inclusive package. We attempted to schedule a massage, the day of , they called our room and cancelled it. Room service was advertised ending at 1am. On the first night we called at 1030om, and they said room service was over. We tried to call a cab to go out , twice, and were overcharged, until realizing the front desk receptionist who works the night shift, was contacting her boyfriend or someone she personally knew via text message to get us. She threw 3 prices at us that he sent her through text, until we said we would just call another cab service that we had written down. Once she saw we had other options, miraculously the price dropped. And when we finally agreed, the same man arrived to get us for a third time, so she was in on the scam. Lastly, the manager Victor, promised he would refund us for inconvenience. He lied and said he would but has been dodging Orbitz emails/calls!
- Esperanza (4/5): - Staff, especially dining staff very nice. The pool was decent.
Overall the property needs to be updated and fixed. Its dirty, not the rooms...the property. There was poop ( iguanas) everywhere, broken door knobs, cracks in the ceiling, dirt in the ocean, bugs inside common areas ( ants, I saw a few roaches). Needs a serious deep cleaning.
- Marquee (2/5): - Limited food for breakfast lunch and dinner. All 3 days there was no syrup for the pancakes, more than half the menu unavailable everyday. The dinner only consist of an Asian style dish or Italian style dish. Iguanas all over the dining area. And many of raccoons! Room service is suppose to be until 1:30am everyday but instead it closed at 10:30am. No wash clothes available! Pool was extremely dirty the first day. Also there is 1 swim up bar and only 1 day the bar was open until 6pm. All other days you had to find an employee to get drinks. Super short staffed. water pressure in the shower was so low it was almost unusable. No beach area. One of the worst ever!
- Ofelia (10/5): - I loved the food! All the staff were so nice!! The views are amazing here too. One thing I really loved was that you are able to get the Colectivo within walking distance. They charge 20-30 pesos to take you to the main town.
- Richard (10/5): - The place is lovely, but they are not very eco-friendly due to the water coming out of the taps to fill the hot tub so slowly that it takes 2 hours to fill, and therefore much energy is wasted due to it cooling down. Also, I stayed 3 nights, and we only had hot water on one of those nights, and this appears to have been an issue for at least a month, based on Google Maps reviews.
- Jennifer (10/5): - It was my first time staying at this resort, and most likely it won't be the last. The food is 5 stars, and the staff is super friendly! I liked everything about this resort. I highly recommend it to my family and friends.
- Michael (10/5): - Kore Tulum is a beautiful resort! The grounds are amazing. My room was huge and had all of the features described in the ad. It is on the edge of a national park and an easy walk to many attractions. Staff were friendly and very helpful. I definitely recommend and will stay here again!
- Jessica (2/5): - We booked all inclusive but then they made us pay an extra $980 for an "all inclusive". Even after paying almost 1k extra nothing advertised on their website was free. We had to pay for bikes, beach access, parking and Jaguar park. Several things in our room that we paid extra for was not functioning such as jetted tub, shower and safe. There was no mini bar, soda nor bottled water as advertised. We had a view of the maintenance building vs garden view. Drink were not served from 7a-1a as advertised. There is only 1 restaurant.
- Kyle (2/5): - They were dirty and had the cleaners in my room watching tv instead of cleaning up. The water was brown and the food was awful. I would not recommend
- DeShay (2/5): - The property had no working water and when they finally turned it on it was cold. I booked a jacuzzi room that i was unable to use and didn’t get refunded for so i wasted my money. The resort looked deserted. I saw less than 10 guests here during my stay. Very unkept, not worth the price, and management and staff are unhelpful. I would not recommend this place or ever stay here again. I checked out the NEXT DAY, i couldn’t do it.
- Destinie (2/5): - I booked at the Kore for 4 days 3 nights. To start off, the hotel / villa has no proper management. It is an extension of another resort in Cancun which their gains are sent to. The maintenance was poor. To start off with the bathroom, the shower heads were extremely dirty and i had a ceiling leak in the bathroom as well. I reported it to the front desk and they said it was my fault for lowering the thermostat in the room. I had a leak in the bathroom and no a.c at that point. I asked if we can change rooms, the lady at the front denied at first until maintenance told her it was unsafe for us to stay there because the floors were all wet after filing TWO complaints. The resort was empty and she first told us there were no rooms available then switches us with no issue. The excursions were all done outside of the resort so at that point we were being passive about the issues, however at the end they charged me 100 USD for key towels i was never given. MY ADVICE, pay all you can in cash and limit access to your cards because they will take money, the resort / villa is struggling and are not investing into fixing the issues. If youre looking for a great Tulum experience dont let the rating fool you, this is not it.
- Adrian (8/5): - First off... I will definitely be staying at the Kore again. This resort is so close to being 5 Star.
Pros... Suites are huge... Walking in to the room it is breath taking... You immediately calm and relaxed... Huge windows, sliding doors, and curtains. The Kore is it's own little village secluded and safe enough to take a night strolle around the property. The staff takes pride in cleanliness... The staff is up early prepping the property for the day and it's guest.
Cons... The Kore just needs some love... I'm not sure if they have one but a Property Manager and/or Event Coordinator to oversee updates to the rooms, buildings, weight room equipment would make such a huge difference. Another suggestion is maximizing the safety and seclusion with in house activities, game nights... They have a building that could be used for movies, Dance nights, food tastings, etc.
I really enjoyed my stay... Sitting out on the balcony at night feeling the breeze off the ocean was so peaceful and relaxing.
- Kervin (10/5): - Loved it
- Arwine (2/5): - Very outdated and food is terrible
- Arvinder (8/5): - Relaxing and quiet. Staff helpful.
Walking outside to get to reception amd restaurant so need umbrella when raining.
Vegetarian options can be increased from pasta , tortillas and fruit.
- Conrad (8/5): - The staff was nice. Friendly and helpful. I do wish they had some type of notice about the power outages that the area was experiencing. It was out of their control but it would have been good to know before it happened and I had no AC for a few hours. I will say that Miguel and the other lady at the front desk were beyond accommodating and tried to help in all possible way to make our stay better.
- Samantha (4/5): - Utilities went out multiple times
- Darlin S (4/5): - The resort is very small and quiet. We expected a beach by the hotel.
Is not even a beach, just a bunch of rocks and seaweed water. You can’t even go in that water.
The only nice thing I can say is the restaurant staff were lovely. But the front desk useless and rude !!!!
Customer service receptionist was Extremely ignorant and rude. The water was gone for like 8 hours. They lie and said is coming back soon.
No AC for an entire night. The Fridge not fully stocked for an all inclusive, we had to keep asking for what we already paid for. More water. More sodas.
Don’t bother going to this hotel.
- Ryan (6/5): - Food was worse than expected, jacuzzi in room was an any colony, had issues getting service at various times, and facilities were poorly maintained. Drinks were excellent most of the time and the staff very friendly, but they were short handed all the time so service was in consistent (not their fault).
- Candice (8/5): - Beautiful property! Staff was amazing and helpful. Many areas for good pictures. Food was not good at all.
- Tawanna (10/5): - The entire experience was amazing!! The staff (Kevin and Monica) were so friendly! The waiter staff was so much fun and friendly as well. I will be coming back in December.
- Matthew (4/5): - We booked 2 nights here as a special treat for our honeymoon. Sadly the property fell far short of our expectations, given what we paid (8000pesos for B&B - not all-inclusive). While staff were helpful, we encountered a series of frustrating issues:
- No hot water across the hotel. We couldn't shower or use the in-room jacuzzi, which was the very reason we picked this hotel.
- Only 1 pair of slippers given.
- Nobody restocked the fridge after day 1.
- 1 lamp in the room had a broken lightbulb.
- Iron wasn't working. We requested a replacement, waited 30 mins, and nothing came. Later we asked again, and nothing came. We called 15 minutes later, and finally one arrived.
- Bathroom scales were broken.
- They removed the facecloth after day 1, but did not replace it.
Overall, this was a desperately disappointing experience given that we had chosen a special 4* hotel for our honeymoon. Whenever we raised issues with staff, responses were slow. They moved us to a new room at 2130 on day 2, promising "sea view", but it was obviously pitch black! We demand a refund.
Elsewhere, it was unclear where to collect and drop off towels for the pool. This should have been made obvious. Equally, it was unclear whether the drinks in the room fridge were free (they were, it turns out), but it would have been nice to know this.
- Claudia (10/5): - Great place to stay, all the staff were very nice, attentive, helpful and proper I highly recommended specially for adults only.
Thanks to all of you for making me feel at home.
- Shekeb (6/5): - Ocean view but access to the ocean closed due to seaweed. Room was sprayed with heavy Raid and it was terrible. Had to switch. Food mediocre. Staff was good. Good pool.
- Donald (10/5): - The staff was amazing but the upkeep of the property is subpar mold at the pool, inside of the shower on the shower heads.Daybeds aren’t always made up. Pools need to be cleaned more often. Overall the experience is nice but the place needs more work.
- Edric (8/5): - Limited parking
- Miyuni (6/5): - The property was beautiful, however the pictures did the property more justice than it should. You couldn’t go to the beach within the resort but you had to pay to go to another entrance for the beach. The pool bar closes at 6 pm. The food wasn’t too pleasing either. There wasn’t much to do at/around the resort without having to go far.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The hot tub in the room did not function. The room wasn't clean thoroughly throughout the stay. Room service was great food was good. The pool was not clean. The hot tubs by the pool were not hot. Was a nice location by the ocean.
- Herve (2/5): - They are liard. The peoples who are worry there.
- Catharine Eileen (8/5): - This was actually my first time at al resort at all. I wasn’t sure what to expect. I had heard different things about resorts about all kinds of activities and stuff happening all the time. Lots of laughs and booze.
Kore was not that and we were so glad!! My partner and I both needed to rest so for us, this was literally the most perfect place we could have gone. It was quiet, and peaceful. The sea was right beside us and so memorizing. The food was mostly good and the staff were all great! The only negative things we really found was that we didn’t have our own beach. We walked about an half hour to get to a beach. Second thing was the steaks on BBQ night. They weren’t to good. Overall we were very happy though and will likely be back some day. Thank you Kore Tulum. Catharine and John
- Oscar Armando (2/5): - Did not like the food they serve for dinner, food tasted old , meat-beef had a strange color and texture white and tasted weird , we don’t know if it was old or what they were serving, bar only served chipset liquor and keeps running out of beer, people had to wait for at least 3-hours, we had to rent our own vehicle and find dining places somewhere else, the hole experience was a waist of time and money
