Guest Reviews
- Kasey (9/5): Wonderful cosy stay in the heart of Burnie - The breakfast was much appreciated - the Tasmanian bacon was fantastic - not to be missed! The house was very cosy, spotlessly clean and the hosts Lynne and Titch were friendly and knowledgeable. The bed was a little hard for us, but that's only our preference: the rest of the bedding was warm and comfortable.

Spacious home, comfortable beds, quiet, great kitchen with dishwasher, soap, etc. Breakfast supplies included eggs and back bacon. Delicious. Absolutely nothing….well, ….owing to the amount of duck related memorabilia in every room, this house is not for the duck-o-phobic :)

- Annie (10/5): A beautiful house and a generous host - I wish we could have stayed longer! - Such a quaint little house; it really felt like a home, even though we were only there for one night. Loved the little tour with the history, and it was fun to find all the duck-themed surprises over our stay!
I'll specify that it isn't a hotel, and I think that's a good thing. I'd recommend the place to anyone who wants somewhere cosy, with a bit of history and human connection. It felt like staying at a good friend's house, rather than a sterile & boring hotel. We will definitely be back!
- Mitchell (10/5): Exceptional -
- Gina (10/5): Exceptional -
- James (10/5): Great stay at the Duck House - Lovely house with lots of ducks all around! Special highlights of Burnie include the penguin colony (very busy during our late-Feb visit), platypus at Fern Glen, and a beautiful beach.

- John (10/5): Highly recommend. - We were given a Warm welcome, with a show around property and recommendations for dinner. - Russell (5/5): Terrific hosts. Interesting old house in a good location. Ll - Breakfast was great. Hosts were very friendly and helpful. Location was excellent. Water pressure was very low.We found it impossible to adjust the shower for the children.
- Bozena (10/5): It felt like staying in a small royal house. Fantastic! - It felt like staying in a small royal house. Friendly owner, she showed everything with such love and care. Absolutely lovely stay!
- Di (7/5): Good location but listing details need to more accurate - The location was convenient to town and you can walk to the shore to watch the penguins. The breakfast supplies provided were nice. The house was lovely but different to what was in the photos. The listing states free private parking on site, but when we arrived we were told to park on the street (council parking). We arrived after a long day and wanted to simply get the keys and rest, but were given a 20 minute tour of the house, including details of the history and people in photos. This information should be provided in writing so we could peruse at our convenience. During the tour, the owner found a used flannel in the shower and abruptly asked mum to hold it while the owner grabbed something else - really gross.
Note, there is only a fridge and icebox, no actual freezer, so dont bring anything that needs freezing.
Checkout on the listing clearly states 10am-11am, however, at about 9.57am the owners knocked on the door wanting to start cleaning. We had already started packing so asked for 10 mins to clear out. We were not impressed. Several things on the listing were not accurate.
- Brendan (10/5): Exceptional -
- John (9/5): Superb - Many and varied historical items ranging from furnitue and fittings to the ptesumably the original owners family school books - dated 1889. Nothing to add here.

- Deborah (10/5): Exceptional -
- Angus (10/5): Such warm hospitality from our hosts. Really appreciate the effort they went to - Amazing. Bacon, eggs and toast were already in the fridge ready for us in the morning.
- Tracey (10/5): Exceptional - Clean & cost with a beautiful breakfast supply. N/A
- Amrit (10/5): Exceptional - Host was 5 star. Friendly, helpful. Can't explain enough about her and the place must stay when you travel Northwest of tassie.
- Mary (9/5): Lovely well kept house in an excellent location with excellent hosts - The house was a lovely heritage building, with lots of history connected to the area. The hosts were excellent, always available and happy to accommodate any requests. Food was excellent and it was ideally located for our purposes. Warm and snug and all things well explained. The shower was a bit dodgy and hard to regulate. Once it got going and got the temperature right it was alright but the pressure wasn't the best.

- Peter (9/5): Enjoyed our overnight stay, will visit again. - Location was great. House nicely presented. Breakfast included, although two guests were allergic to eggs. Perhaps they should ask re allergies at time of booking. Shower temperature control a bit erratic.

- Sharron (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jessica (9/5): Superb -
- Anne (9/5): Superb -
- Roger (9/5): A great and very comfortable stay with all fascilities covered - Generous breakfast provisions with additional garden produce in season Wpuld have preferred off street patking but a residential pass was provided for all day parking, but still traffic was a minor issue
- Tony (9/5): Spacious and comfortable heritage listed cottage Well located - Breakfast provisions were excellent and pantry cupboard provided many extras There were many small extras and we were exceptionally comfortable especially since our hostess advised us to keep the heating going Parking no problem Nothing to criticise

balcony...🙄

Thanks Tych and Lyn!
- Nicky (7/5): Good - My friends and I enjoyed looking at all the ducks... If you are not a fan this is not the place for you!
It had an otherworldly feel to it all and reminded me of a house which might belong to someone's grandmother.
According to my friends, their beds were comfortable, the breakfast was a great touch and they ate lots of bacon. My friends loved it, I was not so keen.
- Bryony (10/5): - Delightful! And very comfortable. The whole family enjoyed it.
- Justin (10/5): Exceptional -
- Christine (10/5): Exceptional - Everything. It is charming and comfortable. So sad to leave it. You will love it.and all.of its ducks.🪿 Nothing
- Jelena (10/5): Exceptional -
- Mark (8/5): If we return to Burnie, we will definitely be back to the Duck House - This is a fabulous 'experience' stay. While recommended to us by our contact in Burnie, we wanted something quirky or different. The Duck House supplied both. The breakfast was also very, very nice and with free reign on the 'back garden' for fresh herbs, was a great start to the day The master bed was a little firm
- Brian (9/5): Comfortable home with lovely decor in a great location. - Very charming house with helpful, intelligent hosts. Close to the beach - we were able to walk down in the evening to see the penguins. We only had one night - next time I’ll stay more- would be a lovely place to use as a base to explore Northern Tasmania. That our stay was only one night.
- Robyn (8/5): Very good -
- Lucy (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kathleen (10/5): Fabulous Duck House, 2 night stay - Another perfect stay at Duck House. Very comfortable, clean, all self contained, wonderful and generous breakfast supplies provided, great location, friendly helpful hosts, original charm and decor. Very highly recommended.

- Lesley (8/5): We stayed for 2 nights and used it as a base for exploring the North Tasmania surrounds. It is well situated and very w - it is a quaint and pretty little house which oozes charm and history. There is not much not to like about this charming little house.
- Anonymous (10/5): Well-maintained historic charm - I stayed at the Amelia’s property. it is a historic property that is well-maintained; the kitchen and bathroom facilities are suitable (including a rail in the shower). There is a herb garden.
- Jenny (10/5): Great - Breakfast was great, the whole experience was lovely :) fresh herbs and lemons from the garden made breakfast even better! Liked it all:)
