Guest Reviews
- Chris (8/5): Very welcoming hosts, lovely location, close enough to a couple of towns yet also far enough to be away in nature. - Nice chalets, very clean, comfortable and quiet. Internet access was not great.
- Charlotte (10/5): Relaxing and peaceful stay. - The most incredible weekend away, so relaxing, the lodges are gorgeous and even better to see all the wildlife. Such a peaceful place and the hosts are wonderful too. If you’re thinking of booking just do it! The only downside is having to leave!
- Sarel (9/5): Jarrah - Comfortable and have everything you need Maybe need a little more rain protection on the patio
- LIN (10/5): Great place for family with kids - Like a home and always have Kangaroo visitors in the evening.
Very cute and rare experience.
- Bhavneet (10/5): -
- Gérard (10/5): - Le chalet tres confortable et tres propre, le jacuzzi ....un sanctuaire pour la vie sauvage et un paradis pour les amoureux des animaux
- Tracey (8/5): Lovely last minute short stay - Quiet location, seclude but still accessible to all attractions in the area Didn’t have ceiling fans to help shift air, rather than having to put air con on.
- Rita (10/5): FALL IN LOVE with Yelverton Brook - Joy was a very welcoming and accommodating host and the place was a sanctuary for wildlife and travellers. The bungalow was spotless and the beds so comfy! Every amenity for a short weekend break or longer had been thought of and any requests were easily accommodated. It was a pleasure to meet Joy and learn about the local area - our English family were DELIGHTED with the friendly kangaroos and possums. A MUST for travellers to the Margaret River region and a great place to stay whilst exploring all the nearby tourist hotspots. THANK YOU JOY - we had a fantastic time and will definitely stay again. Loved everything
- craig (10/5): Absolutely fabulous stay, relaxing and so nice to be so close to native fauna - Lovely home from home, comfortable and clean, beautiful location and the wildlife was amazing! Great stay Nothing
- Cathy (10/5): What an amazing little getaway this is! - It was stunning! The setting is a nature sanctuary with so many beautiful birds, roos, possums and more! The bed was comfy, the kitchen very well- equipped, and included fresh eggs from the owners chickens. The grounds are gorgeous, lots of trails and just untouched beauty. The private hot tub was soooo nice and soothing. It was the perfect place for my birthday weekend! We will definitely book again! N/A
- Rosanne (10/5): -
- Yaojun (10/5): - A really nice place for a vacation.
- Karen (10/5): - A wonderful cottage stay with a four-poster bed, lovely rooms & incredible wildlife! The kangaroos, possums and birds come right up to the cottage so definitely take some spare veg or fruit. I can't recommend it high enough as a place for quiet retreat with wildlife.
- Tim (9/5): A truly relaxing and rejuvenating stay. - This was our second family holiday to the sanctuary and it once again exceeded our expectations. Immersed in native bush land, with plenty of visits from the local wildlife day and night! A 25 minute bush trail on the property, fresh farm eggs & baked bread available daily from the hosts, this is truly relaxing and peaceful break from everyday life. N/A
- Marina (9/5): Enjoyable and relaxing - The spa was excellent
I liked the wild life
It was quiet and clean. Tolilet was by the door and in the laundry room .
Would have been nice if it was separate and not by the door . But wasn’t a major issue
- Tenzin (10/5): - Loved it
- Lee (10/5): - The perfect place to hide away and disconnect from society. My 5 new friends (roos) were great company.
- Trevor (10/5): 10/10 best place we have ever stayed! Will come again and again!! - What a magical place! Both the animals and the cottage were amazing! So much attention to small details, will come again and again! Nothing, literally an amazing place!
- Kit Sang (10/5): - We had a wonderful stay with Yelverton Brook. We met and feed the kangaroos, possums and birds. My son and my parents were so happy to meet these little creatures. The property is clean and got everything we needed. We just need to bring our belongings, sit and relax.
- Ivan (10/5): Extraordinary experience with your own ZOO! - Best ever combo of experiencing your own Zoo while eating your breakfast or dinner. The chalet was clean and spacious. Definitely returning back one day!
- Welch (10/5): Exceptional -
- Lorenza (10/5): A unique experience. - We've been four times already. The animals in the sanctuary are the highlight for me. There are many kangaroos, possums, and other animals that you can feed and pet. Just amazing.
- Carey-ann (8/5): Peaceful, relaxing Holiday - We loved our stay. It was a comfortable cabin, with everything we needed. The bed was comfortable, everything was neat and tidy and the spa was amazing. Loved how the kangaroos would turn up in the late afternoon for a feed followed by the possums in the night and also the odd lizard. It was peaceful and you would not know there were other cabins in the area. 10 minutes to Cowaramup followed by Margaret River, 20 mins to Dunsborough. We felt like we were out in the bush but travel time to everywhere was perfect.
- Jérémy (10/5): Exceptional -
- Linda (10/5): Exceptional - We absolutely loved our stay at Yelverton Brook Conservation Sanctuary. The accommodation was not only comfortable but thoughtfully equipped with eco-friendly and sustainable products, which we really appreciated. The opportunity to encounter friendly native animals and gaze at the Milky Way was truly priceless—an experience that's so rare and magical for city dwellers. Thank you, Joy and Simon, for creating such a special place. We can’t wait to return and stay at Yelverton Brook again!
- Ilse (10/5): Exceptional - So happy we found this little gem, perfect location, wildlife was our highlight, the chalets was immaculate and fully equipped with everything we needed and more, the hosts thought of every little detail and excellent communication, even made a personalised video with all the info! Absolutely amazing!!! Highly recommend this place 👌👌👌
- Patricia (10/5): If you are traveling to Western Australia, make sure you stay at Yelverton Brook Sanctuary! - Yelverton Brook Sanctuary is a wonderful place. The chalets are beautiful and comfortable. Guests are provided food for the animals that live in this sanctuary, and the animals come regularly to visit. It is hard to describe the feeling of seeing a mother kangaroo with her Joey popping out, standing at the waiting for some food. Every day brought some new experience. We would happily return again and again, except we live in the USA. There was nothing that could have been better!
- Kyle (10/5): Exceptional -
- Steven (10/5): - Very well provisioned. We lacked for nothing. Lovely personal arrival greeting. We'll be back
- Danny (9/5): Highly recommended, we will definitely be back! - It’s our second time here and we had a wonderful and memorable time again! We loved the comfortable chalet and friendly animals. Thank you both so much,
Joy and Simon!!
- Masilan (10/5): - The property has all the amenities for a comfortable stay. My kids enjoyed interacting with the local fauna that come up to the veranda to greet you in the evenings. The outdoor hot tub was a bonus attraction to relax in while stargazing at night.
- Nakul (9/5): Superb -
- Lynda (10/5): Exceptional -
- Oldacre (10/5): An absolutely stunning place to stay. Joy and Simon were lovely and the whole experience of having the wildlife come to - we loved how quiet and clean the place was. We also loved the kangaroos and all the wild life. a truly amazing experience!! we liked everything!
- James (10/5): Wonderful stay, would come back at the drop of a hat. - Everything. Nothing.
- Gagandeep (9/5): Superb -
- Franco (10/5): It was great to unwind, listening to the beautiful sounds of the outback. - the peacefulness and relaxed chalet to relax and unwind with Australian animals at your front door.
- Evonne (10/5): Exceptional -
- Lindsay (9/5): Superb -
- Evert (10/5): Idyllic - We spent three nights here and enjoyed every moment. A very special place for relaxation and healing.
The accommodation was so clean and homely - everything thought of from salt and pepper right through to foil and paper towel.
Hoping to return over Christmas.
- Cassandra (10/5): Exceptional - The wildlife. The accomodation was amazing. Everything you needed for a short stay. The spa was perfect some bathrobes would have been fabulous. The pillows were not the best 🤣 that's the only criticism.
- Katherine (10/5): Exceptional -
- Stephanie (10/5): Exceptional - Unit was secluded from others. Woke to kangaroos every morning. Hot tub was beautiful. Will definitely stay again. Can not fault this place
- Anonymous (10/5): it was awesome we will definitely be back - the animals and the privacy nothing
- Melanie (10/5): We stay here every year and always so tranquil and relaxing. - Fairly private and a beautiful outlook. Didn’t like leaving.
- Yao (10/5): - Great location, fantastic wildlife experience. Friendly and kids loved it! Wake up to the kangaroos and birds. Will be back again! Thank you for the lovely experience.
- Sanna (10/5): - We had a relaxing stay and had unique experience with the wild life. Possums, bandikoots, parrots and kangaroos in the comfort of your own private bungalow with a spa bath. Perfect getaway. Owners very friendly and accomadating.
- Breanna (10/5): Amazing!! - Best place to stay when you want to reconnect with nature and just have a nice break from hustle and bustle, this is the place. We loved waking up to the kangaroos
- Joel (10/5): - Amazing location with beautifully set out Cottages. Owners are very welcoming aswell as the wildlife. Can’t recommend this place enough
- Verified traveler (10/5): - This is a place to spend sometime in Oz, especially if you are in to wildlife and nature. Visitor attractions in this region need to be seen and are easy to get too.
- Gayle (8/5): - The location of the property is great. My family really enjoyed the wildlife and the nature walks. The house is not modern but it was spotless let clean. A little “quirky” in the layout worth the shower and toilet beside the front door.
The spa was amazing - although conflicting instructions were in the house about how to use it. We figured it out.
The essentials in the fridge when we arrived was a great touch!
Thanks for a great stay.
- Andrew (10/5): - Fantastic...how many other accommodations can offer breakfast with Kangaroos and on an evening sit in the spa under the stars.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - This place is AMAZING. The chalet was so cozy, felt a bit like my grandmother's house (which is a good thing), such a relaxing place with everything you need right there and with so much wild life just outside your door. In addtion, the outdoor heated spa was amazing - can recommend jumping in early morning while it's still chilly outside.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Wake up to birds and kangeroos - Wake up to kangeroos, bandikoots and other wildlife forraging outside your windows. Cottage is well equipped - fully equipped kitchen, fireplace, inverter aircon/heater system, jacuzzi, BBQ and washing machine. Within driving distance to the whole of Margaret River, but far enough to enjoy the tranquility of being just next to nature.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Second time staying. Always excellent an friendly. Will be back..... again.
- Ian (10/5): If you like to be close to wildlife ... - Booked a weekend away and was pleasantly surprised ... was promised nature and it delivered. If you like sharing your breakfast with Kangaroos this is the place for you. If you like a spa/hottub watching the stars this is the place for you.
- Fussy (10/5): the best time ever
- A wonderful wildlife experience.
The Yelverton retreat and sanctuary delivered everything it promised.
the wildlife was amazing. They came to visit every night just as promised.
The best time ever.
Next time without the kids
- Lisa (8/5): Peaceful escape! - A lovely little escape from Perth for the weekend, with the highlight being the wildlife at our doorstep all day and night! Our daughter was delighted as were the adults! Had never seen a woylie (and some had never heard of them) and they were hopping about our lawn merrily both evenings! Fantastic!
The only downside would be the booking on wotif.com. It allowed me to book us in on dates that turned out to be unavailable and gave the wrong price. Luckily we were able to change our days and the owners were accomodating too but if anything I would recommend going straight to their own website to book.
- Verified traveler (10/5): FOREST SANCTUARY - We stayed in a chalet, one of 5, in a secluded forest setting but within easy reach of all Margaret River locations.
Our chalet was one bedroom, very spacious sitting-room, bedroom and kitchen area. Terrace with a hot-tub and barbecue.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Fabulous for seeing wildlife - Two nights and wished we could stay longer. Very comfy chalets with everything you need including eggs, butter, milk, DVDs, books, picnic rug etc.
Not the most modern decor but that was not a concern.
Our UK visitor ( and us) was impressed with kangaroos, possums, woylies and a bandicoot who came to visit.
Would definitely return.
- Karen (10/5): wild and wonderful - relaxing, comfortable, peaceful, and wonderful interactions with Australian wildlife
- Rebecca (10/5): - The place was super clean. We would eat there in the evening just so the kids could feed the wild life!!! A good base, close to many attractions.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great private family getaway - We had a lovely stay, had everything we needed to accommodate, prepare meals for and entertain a 6 month old and almost 3 year old. Then once the kids were in bed we got some time to ourselves to relax in the spa- so peaceful! The house isn't as dated as it seemed in the pictures and has been made well. It worked for us because the kids are young, but the only thing I see being an issue is the bathroom/ laundry/toilet/entrance combination. Could be awkward with older kids or two couples. But you know what? There are 3 other entrances to the house- all you have to do is walk a couple of extra metres around the side! Wildlife was active as promised- kids loved it. Bed was comfy. We could only just see the next unit through the trees so it felt very private and was very quiet at night for the kids. Loved the toys and board games!
- Verified traveler (10/5): A truly eco experience. - The place is beautiful if what you are looking is bush walking, wildlife and a relaxing place. The chalets had privacy and were really nice all what you need was there and the wildlife for my kid was an awesome experience. Highly recommended indeed.
- Jasper (10/5): If you love countryside you love here. - Fantastic environment. Warm owner. incredible experience for city dweller. Truly luxury resort where you're given the best comfort in the woods. SPA in the open at night watching the stars.
- mattias (8/5): - Medelstandard på huset, detta boende är för själva upplevelsen med de skyddade djuren på området
- sonja (10/5): Incredible! - Will absolutely return! Exceeded our expectations by far :)
- Verified traveler (10/5): - 2nd stay at Yelverton Brook and it was just as good as the first. Fella's if your looking for a private romantic cabin, with wildlife even more friendly than than owners, then this is it! Close to all Margaret Rivers attractions but out of the way enough for pure relaxation!
- Verified traveler (10/5): Weekend Away - Cosy getaway during a raining weekend. Cosy getaway during a raining weekend.
- Anthony (10/5): - Fantastic location, great wild life, great mangers (Joy and Simon).
Margaret river down the road, Yallingup canal rocks only 20 minutes away where there is amazing snorkeling.
Will stay again
- Mark (10/5): -
- Shigeki (10/5): -
good chance to encouter animals on doorstep
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great Bush Retreat - Get amongst nature for an awesome break near great wineries such as Churchview
- Gary (8/5): Great weekend in Margaret River! - We picked this place because:
a) it advertised a sufficiently private hot tub/spa under the stars
b) it advertised that a bunch of critters (kangaroos, woylies, brushtailed possums, birds, etc) would be feeding out of your hand or just off your back terrace.
Yelverton Brook delivered exactly as advertised, along with a very well equipped accommodation. It was certainly not a luxurious 5 star resort, but we really enjoyed it and found it to be extremely well thought out and comfortable.
We would highly recommend it to anybody looking for the two features mentioned above.
- Aussiesontour (10/5): Amazing - My wife and I stayed the weekend for her birthday. We absolutely loved every minute of our stay and didn't want to leave. The chalet we stayed in was fantastic. Very well layed out and had everything we could possibly need. The spa was great to relax in out under the stars and view the local wildlife. Can not recommend this place enough. We will be returning for sure.
