• sara (5/5): If you stay at this holiday home make sure the shower water is hot. Ask how to use the aircon. - I liked how Matua was friendly. I had to have a cold shower because the hot water was not going in the shower. Ive never had that at other places ive stayed at. I didnt want to be a hoha and just sucked it up. It was cold in the morning.. I guess its my fault for not speaking up. The aircon wasnt going. The water in the kitchen was hot as but the shower was freezing. The hot water didnt work. Overall I guess I will try everything beforehand so that they can show me how it works prior to stay.

• Helen (6/5): Pleasant - Quiet location. Great building but....Dated fixtures, fittings and decor..For little investment, this could be so much better.

• Maria (3/5): Not satisfactory - The price was too high for how this property is maintained. It wasn’t clean, there were butts and cleaning equipment outside, and the cupboards and bathroom are dated. This needs upgrading for the price. Very disappointed.

• Chieko (7/5): A place that might be comfortable for a small number of people, a bit old and cramped. - Beautiful natural setting on high ground, friendly owners. No WiFi connection at all, gas stove was broken, not very well cleaned.
• Piripi (10/5): Exceptional - Beautiful home, comfortable stay, nice little area at the back for a cuppa in the sun, all sky channels with Netflix and Amazon great for movies, heat pump to keep warm and lovely private driveway away from the noise of traffic, comfy bed would definitely recommend and would book again.

• Sinisha (3/5): Poor - Location is good. Close to city centre. This place need DEEP CLEANING and carpet replacement. Carpet in the rooms is very dirty and smells very bad. We have stayed in Whangarei in many places with similar price range that have 10 times better conditions to offer.

• Jo (4/5): With a little work, it could be so much better - Close to some amazing bush walks, bridges and waterfall. A short walk into town and shops. The bed was far too soft. At first we thought it was the mattress but we think that it's the bed springs. We also had to go buy some pillows as the supplied ones were past it.

The owners were helpful, friendly and cooperative as I made a mistake of booking and not giving any notice to be able to check in. • Michael (6/5): Minor Probs but big and cheap - Space-wise its really good! Rate is just as good but we encountered some minor problems during our stay. Dusty house and 1st level bedroom has house spiders. The house has dishwasher but does not have a dishwasher scrub. Electric fans are heavily covered with dust. Staff had very good communication and are very accommodating. Very good staff service.
• Peter (10/5): An Apartment of your own - We organized to meet at corner of street as place is very hard to find. We had four rooms to our selves, Cooking facilities, BBQ, verandah, close to Bay of Islands. 2 hr drive Isolated. (Kiwis pronounce Wh as Th)

• Linda (10/5): Good accommodation in quiet location - Despite a mix up over the booking, the owners were very helpful in resolving the issue and our stay was delightful. The houses are in a nice quiet residential area of Whangerei.
• Maggie (8/5): Secluded cottage - This cottage was very pleasant and comfortable. The managers were very friendly and helpful. We couldn't find it. But we eventually got hold of them. We met them at the point where the SAT Nav had taken us. The contact details need to be a bit clearer. It was a very quiet area.There were sheep in the next door paddock.
