- Aude (10/5): - Fantastic stay for groups! We stayed here with 10 friends in two separate rooms. The place is huge! We loved the common area with the pool table and foosball. Being able to go kayaking on the lake and use the trampoline was a real highlight. The hosts were incredibly welcoming, and the large green space is beautiful. Special mention for the cleanliness of the shared kitchen and bathrooms. Highly recommended—we’d definitely come back!

Detailed folder with information on what to do in the area. That was awesome! The double bed in the larger room was not very comfortable. Some noxious weeds around the swimming hole would need to be dealt to before they proliferate...

- Lana (10/5): Fantastic Family Funtimes - Great family stay. All the facilities were clean, tidy and very user friendly. The large lounge room kept the teenagers entertained at night. The swimming hole was absolutely stunning. All in all a brilliant place to stay. There was nothing we didn't like. The driveway was a little scary the first time down but just took our time and it was fine.

- Joo Hee (10/5): - The accommodation is set by a quiet river and was a nice place to relax. We used the BBQ and enjoyed a peaceful stay. Kayaks and life jackets were free to use, which was great for spending time with the kids. The hosts were very kind, and in the evening they showed us a nearby forest where we could see glow worms. Overall, we had a very pleasant stay. It was great value for money, and we’d love to visit again. N/A

- Dafna (10/5): - This place is truly magical! We are a family of 5 and stayed in a dorm room for 4 nights. There are green hills around and a creek with kayaks! The common area is very nice with TV, pool table, ping pong table and some board games. Plenty of grass for the kids to run around and bbq spots. There is a trampoline which was perfect for our kids. The shared kitchen is fully equipped. Womens bathroom was in good condition, mens could be cleaner. There is a little distance between the restrooms and the dorm rooms which is not that great when kids wake up in the middle of the night and need to walk outside in the dark. Come with insect repellent since this place is the middle of nature and there are some mosquitoes and a few sand flies.

André is een super aardige man die altijd gezellig een praatje komt maken en met plezier verteld over van alles en nogwat! De faciliteiten waren prima. De douche was niet super schoon en de keuken vrij klein, wij hadden geluk dat er niet veel reizigers waren maar het kan problemen opleveren als er meer mensen zijn denk ik.

The activities for the children were great too. Having the river/kayaks and games room to use. Lots of local/area information avaliable in the rooms.

Needed a good vacuum, particularly under beds, sofas and sofa cushions. Lacking sufficient basic cleaning items like cloths, antibacterial sprays and additional bin bags. Shower tended to cycle between hot and cold.

The shower water is unreliable… temperature varies within seconds and water pressure slows completely. No WiFi or TV in lodge. More storage/ packing place for clothes would be good.

- Therealrobertbirchall (9/5): Superb - Splendid location peaceful in a dramatic setting in a tropical george above a river. The manager, Manie, was very helpful, above and beyond his normal duties. The road to the lodges is not sealed. It's fine for a 4 wheeler or a light motorcycle, but it is not suitable for a heavy touring motorcycle. The text editor on this site is terrible.

- White (7/5): Good - It was really peaceful surroundings and great for a short break. Too far away from the nicer beaches so had to drive some distance to enjoy the beaches and restaurants are practically non existent in that area.

Initially communication was good but on arrival there poor daughter there to check us in poor thing was so nervous and unsure. We had no bathroom with our room there was toilet and shower facilities shower had no lockable door only 2 curtains. 2 other showers were available in the kitchen/communal area. Our room was so hot no fan available. Washing only did a hit wash even though connected to cold water tap. It took over an hour to do a load that it was easier to drive into town instead of waiting for washing to finish all day. TV didn’t not work nir did the wifi. Such a special location with projects around half done. On check only a young boy available who didn’t want to get off the couch (fair enough he’s young we are strangers).

The accommodation was nice , I stayed in the one bedroom cottage , it had everything we needed . Will definitely go back and I would recommend this place to friends and family . Older style accommodation but cosy and well equipped 👌.

- Verified traveler (6/5): - Positives: The Lodge has a high cute factor. Location is very secluded and quiet. The room was very well equipped and comfortable. Nice bed & bedding which added to a cozy feeling. Not So Great: Check-in was long in that it took 23 minutes to get a response and a bit more for someone to arrive. Internet is limited to 100GB per day with rationale to effect that is thought sufficient as nature should take priority. Regardless, the internet connection was not available any point during the 2 day stay. When this was raised at check-in (Friday), operator indicated a technician would be called on Monday (post stay). Parking may be intimidating for some as it required reversing downgrade and around a corner in a tight location. Hot water quantity limits to short showers tho it recovers in a reasonable time - it can be a surprise for hair washing time!

The shower was dangerous as the temperature gage kept turning hot to cold and vice versa. There is no internet either which is a shame?

- Tim (8/5): Great location, perfect for kids - Great spot at the back of Te Mata located right on the river with its own little sandy beach section which is perfect for swimming. Our toddler loved the trampoline and playground and the chickens roaming around were a big hit. The cabin was comfortable and quiet amongst nature, just make sure you keep the windows/flyscreens closed or be prepared for plenty of mosquitoes overnight! The staff weren't really very present and could only be contacted via SMS, which wasn't very helpful for us without mobile network. We didn't receive any information about changing our bins and nobody came to change them over three days so they were overflowing by the end.

Best sleep in ages. Google maps, can't give an accurate location to the Lodge. The road signs to the Lodge were my guide to the place.
- Paula (10/5): It was an awesome weekend away for our family. We look forward to coming back again one summer. - We loved the little chalet. It was so cozy and the kids loved being upstairs. The location was perfect for us. We loved the river, with the kayaks. The kids talked about how cool it would be to have 'donuts' to float around in the water. We loved being surrounded by bush. It was advertised that there was gold pans available (both on website and in the information booklet in the room). Myself and my family were really looking forward to this but unfortunately there weren't any. I think this should be updated on your website and info booklet.

- Jarna (10/5): Te Mata lodge - We found it abit hard to find the lodge main office at night You need to see this place during the day it is set in a stunning forest area with river and sea veiws The main gate entrance took us down a long windy gravel bushland driveway with a few connecting driveways to separate accommodation areas of the lodge Follow the signs carefully posted on the trees On arrival the host was abit shocked to see us he thought we'd cancelled our booking Easily fixed took a few numbers The host was very hospitable we appreciate he went above and beyond to make our stay a comfortable one He offered free use of kayaks He offered late check out He offered a free room upgrade because the shared kitchen and bathroom facilities were under renovations and we'rent available Our 1 bedroom apartment with a private balcony surrounded by nature was amazing it had everything we needed to have a comfortable relaxing 3 day stay during kings birthday long weekend The lodge has a connecting river and park bbq area great for those summer occasions I highly recommend this hidden piece of paradise we will be back Wifi connection was extremely good We were honored to see the grey owl in his natural habitat during the day
