- Julie (8/5): Overall the Inn was good with plenty of room inside for dining etc. and good value for money. - Yes, the lounge chairs and the large bed were really comfortable. The entire room was very clean. We were really surprised by the variety of food supplied in the kitchen. Also the location in the main street of Cessnock was great.
Thank you, Julie and Len There was light from the adjacent room late at night and the guests in that room were noisy! We couldn't open the blind to let fresh air in because there is a security light directly opposite shining in eyeshot. We had to close the window in the bathroom and then the door because the light was streaming into the room. Entry was difficult when we arrived as we had to wait a while for the girl to eventually let us in. However we would stay with you next time we visit family for sure!
- Viki (7/5): Good for stop over and value for money - Closed to all supermarkets and restaurants. Blinds were inoperative.
- Angela (7/5): Pleasant stay overall. - Had a great stay! The Kitchen was handy to have. However the stairs made access hard with lots of bags to carry.
- Mobberley (4/5): Basic - Make your breakfast was ok, though ran out of eggs so really not much to eat.
- Mike on Hols (5/5): - Perfect location for exploring Hunter Valley. Large room to accommodate family of 4. Modern bathroom. Mattresses need changing. Window blinds in our room were all with missing or broken cords upon arrival and could not be opened without assistance.

- Rebecca (6/5): Very funky hotel with surprisingly good amenities in a convenient location for such a cheap price. - The rooms were very spacious. The free wifi was fast and we were able to stream a few movies on the smart tv with zero issues. The shower was fitted with a nice shower head which had good pressure and great temperature. The shared kitchen, lounge, and dining areas were very spacious and tidy. Loved the decor around the entire property. Location was very convenient as it’s across the road from a shopping centre and just down the road from local pubs and cafes. Provided with plenty of toiletries and shared access to a full kitchen should you need it. None of the lamps in the room were operational and we also could not open the blinds, so it was only ever dark or lit up by the overhead lights. The one face towel provided was covered in marks and stains. The continental breakfast is very limited (fruit, cereal, or toast with either peanut butter or jam) and does not cater to gluten free. There was no hand soap available in the kitchen either.

- Chris (8/5): - No fuss easy check-in (key in room) good value stay that exceeds expectations once you get passed the 1900s United Service Hotel sign outside :-) An old Hotel with lots of character recently renovated into a motel with lots of vibrant colour, arts and crafts, Australian history and lavish dining, lounge room and a camp kitchen with free breakfast.
The large room is 25m2 with the hotel room high ceilings. New bathroom, large LED TV sitting on old wooden furniture, freshly painted inside and a modern air conditioner. Added touches include a large hotel carpark and an old vinyl record collection with player in the lounge. Motel signage of Vine Valley and United Service Hotel
- Maria (8/5): Comfortable and cheap - Close to alot of shops and cafes. Great room for my family Only stairs no wheelchair or pram access. Needs more variety in breakfast

We had a lovely stay at this hotel. The room was cozy and comfortable, exactly what we were hoping for. The hotel management was responsive and helpful throughout our visit.
The environment was calm and quiet with no disturbances, making it perfect for a relaxing stay. We really appreciated the artistic decor—beautiful paintings lined the hallways, giving the place a unique charm.
The common kitchen was well-equipped, offering everything we needed for breakfast, including eggs, bread, jam, and utensils to cook. The hall and reception area were tastefully decorated in an old artistic style, adding a warm, nostalgic feel to the overall ambiance.
Highly recommended for anyone looking for a peaceful and aesthetically pleasing stay!

- Sheila (7/5): Hard to carry my baggage up the stairs. -
- liu (9/5): -
- Graham (9/5): Loved the decor !! - It was very clean. Needs a little more variety of food in the fridge
- Kim (9/5): This location was perfect for our needs and we would return here or recommend to friends - The antique touches throughout the building were lovely. The large communal dining space and lounge spaces were very comfortable and lovely. We used both spaces and were appreciative of both.
The family room that we booked was perfect for our needs. Very spacious and clean. The beds were very comfortable and warm. There was something banging on the outside of the building throughout the whole night which interrupted our sleep. We did stay on an extremely windy night.
- Taane (10/5): -
- Kathleen (8/5): - Quiet, quaint. The toilet brush was discusting and we almost ran out of toilet paper for 2ns night of stay.
the bed was a bit soft and lumpy
- Graham (9/5): - The breakfast menu needs a bit more variety, the bed was way too firm for my liking.
- Kate (8/5): Charm and personality for those on a budget. - Great communication with the hosts. More personality in decor than many other similar accomodation options around. Great set up with the kitchen and nice that they provide breakfast too.
- Elena (7/5): Good - Hotel is some sort of antique. It was built 100 years ago as the sign states on the facade of the building. A lot of charming items of some sort of antique decorate corridors and the room. Hosts are friendly and welcoming. Room is spacious, clean, bathroom is new and clean. You cook your own breakfast in the common kitchen (everything you need - provided). We loved staying in this hotel. Unusual. Location is perfect, close to everything by foot, just opposite - Greek takeaway. The rooms are on the second floor of the building, as the ceilings are very high, as of it is third floor. You need to take your luggage upstairs. But we did not mind.
- Eduardo (3/5): - It has a good location and is quiet. Good-sized room and renovated bathroom. On the reservation, I select breakfast, but the breakfast: you need to do it!!! Only have some fruits, bread and eggs. The room and all facilities have dirt, and the maintenance is necessarie and some areas. I reserved 2 King rooms and 1 room has lower quality than the reservation. I don't recommend it if you like quality. Sorry, but it looks like a hostel with personal room.
- Ann (9/5): Comfortable, safe, homely and very good value - Location to the Hunter Valley gardens and central to Cessnock. Needs a good spring clean, because of all the carpets, very dusty around the walls.
- Lesley (8/5): For the price it was adequate for a one night stay. - The breakfast was adequate for a continental breakfast. A bit off putting how the crockery and cutlery was displayed. There was no staff to greet us or to speak to in the morning to know how breakfast or check out occurred. The key was just left in the drop box with no staff at all. Very difficult to take bags up the stairs to the rooms. My husband and I are elderly and no one available to help.
- Chloe-lee (9/5): - The bathroom The car park didnt feel secure or safe
- Bevan (8/5): comfortable enough. - clean nobody else there.
- Kriti (1/5): -
- Carlos (6/5): -
- Avula (8/5): - Comfortable beds and location of the property
- Turid (4/5): Hotell med 1 stjerne - Ok beliggenhet Intet personale tilstede ved frokosten. Alle måtte vaske opp etter seg. Elendig!
- Cynthia and Hugh (8/5): Nice, affordable, near wineries. - Have stayed here three times when visiting the Hunter Valley … a good place. Shower leaked … one set of blinds broken … squeaky bathroom door … no soap dish in shower … no sink plug in kitchen … lounge overcrowded with new furniture that doesn’t match previous vintage tone.
- Paul (7/5): -
- Matt (10/5): -
- Felicisimo (8/5): - Location it's clean, free breakfast and good price for a holiday season none
- Bhargavi (10/5): - Room sizes were generous and facilities were good No lift to reception. Hard for elders
- Pratik (8/5): - The breakfast
- Dinesh (10/5): - Very nice atmosphere and cleaning
- David (7/5): Good value for money - Heart of the town, great bathroom Not enough pillows for bed
- Aisling (5/5): -
- Tarzan (9/5): -
- Christina (8/5): - The rooms was amzing the bed was really comfortable Late arriving guests with 0 consideration for other guests . Allowing there small children to scream , yell and run up and down the hall way at midnight . And the disgusting mess at the back entrance it looks like a huge ashtray .
- Tracey (7/5): Good location nice old place - Location was central to everything
Breakfast was handy 3 flights of stairs to the room, and no door on our room
There was a door at the end of the hallway to our room but it also had the laundry for staff
So the door was left unlocked sometimes
- Sally (7/5): Short notice accommodation required by us, and this suited our budget. - Eclectic, clean with a good ensuite. Shared areas clean, and basic. Value for money. N/A
- Cino (6/5): - It would be great if breakfast was provided as ready to eat.
- Simon (7/5): -
- Kate (6/5): - The place had nice rustic theme. The bathroom was nice, renovated and clean. The room had smell like its hasn't been aired, dusty and not pleasant to breathe.
- June (6/5): - Handy to shops and restaurants. Bathroom was nicely renovated. Bed was lumpy and uncomfortable and the room had very little natural light
- Rodd (7/5): Good value cheap but cleanabd tidy - Clean and quaint Lack of plates knife and firk
- Crystal (10/5): -
- Lim (7/5): -
- Lim (7/5): -
- Taylor (8/5): Value for money. - Hot shower recently renovated bathroom, mini fridge, kitchen available to guests. Interesting areas to relax and eat close by down the hallway. Bed was comfortable. The carpet was badly stained and the lounge.
- Casey (1/5): would not stay again - not a lot to be honest there was literally shit in the toilet, blood stains on most of the throw pillows, used body wash in the shower we opened 3 milks that were curdled and clearly out of date so couldn’t even make a coffee.
- John (8/5): Old world charm - Very different from the usual motel ,more like an old fashioned hotel. But with all the mod cons, plus a kitchen to get your free breakfasts . Too many stairs up to the rooms
- Bradley (7/5): - Location, the rudtic appearance of the hotel, the rooms were quite large for our family. Some more breakfast cereal options perhaps.
- Joel (7/5): - Great for the price! Friendly staff and centrally located Room had a slight smell to it
- Diane (8/5): -
- Rylla (8/5): -
- JessieT (7/5): Convenient location with adequate room and great shower. - Lovely modern bathroom was unexpected as the rest of the place is very quirky and old-fashioned. Having a self-serve shared kitchenette with breakfast provided was great. The location was very convenient for shops. The only thing we really didn't like was a noisy air-conditioning unit outside our bedroom window which ran all night. I recommend taking ear-plugs (also eye-mask for light).
- Ian (9/5): Pleasant, good value for money. Will use again - Community kitchen, dining & loungeroom, but also included coffee & tea in room plus frig.
Recent bathroom refurbishment & comfortable bed.
Close to food & pub It is minor but walking up the stairs with luggage
- Cheryl (6/5): - The cleaner needs to do a better job
- Hilary (7/5): - The decor and lighting.were fantastic.
The lounge and dining room and kitchen were great for shared family times.
The bathrooms were great. The mattress in room 8 was terrible and the owners have said they will replace it.
The fans need cleaning.
The carpets were a bit shabby.
The eggs in the fridge weren't fresh.

- Hall (9/5): - Great location
Ci siamo trovati molto bene!
- Rebekah (3/5): - Tea and coffee making. Continental breakfast. Our boys liked that the tv had Netflix kids. The towels and bedding were clean. Fully working air con. WiFi was good. Dirty. The shower still had a bar of soap and wrapper in the shower from previous stay plus hair. The bathroom needs a good scrub. There was poo down the front outside, toilet bowl. Socks found from previous visitors too. Only one lamp worked. Carpet and blinds damaged.
- Simone (7/5): Good value for money. Played board games in the Lounge. Arthur's Cafe just around the corner. . - Room No. 1. Spacious. Air conditioning worked well. Clean. Noise from Vincent Street in the early hours of the morning was not pleasant.
- James (10/5): -
- Jack (10/5): -
- Jean (9/5): - Quirky details made it very welcoming. Staff were very friendly. Very clean.
- grant tippett (7/5): -
- Matthew (7/5): -
- Rachel (6/5): Clean, tidy and good value for money. Friendly, helpful staff. - The room and motel were clean and interestingly decorated. I liked that. The staff were very helpful and friendly. Breakfast was available. Not at all the Inn's fault, but we happened to stay on two nights where some of the locals were causing some disruption (loud shouting and some glass broken) down in the mainstreet about 1am. This occurred both nights and woke us. Difficult to get bags to room, being on 2nd floor with no lift. Shower door was not easy to slide/broken. But the room was comfortable and well resourced.
- Mears (10/5): -
- Paulyn (7/5): Quiet, lovely accommodation in city centre of cessnock. - Communal kitchen was great - could cook some easy meals if you needed. Easy access to car park and front of building (once you have the digital key). The lounge and dining area was nice and clean. Room was nice and beds were super comfy. Doesn't have heaps of cutlery, there was one fork. There were some mould stains on one of our bedsheets but it was clean and furniture were dated (holes in lounge chair) etc but it works so not complaining.
