Guest Reviews
- Alvarez (8/5): Very nice experience - I went to Cartagena for a week conference with my mom (97) her nurse aide and my sister to visit Cartagena. We didn't know that the entrance had 24 steps, and the apartment had 13 steps to get to the bedroom. My mom uses a wheel chair to walk around so the steps were a major deterrent, so we decided to stay only three (3) days. However, after the third day we decided that the place, location and service of this hotel we worth to stay the 10 day conference. The place was cleaned everyday, the staff solved all our issues right away, I got an email in advance addressing time of arrival, getting the key, etc. The location is really fantastic. The AC was great, and you need air conditioning! The swimming pool requires handles and it was difficult for me to get in and out of it. That needs to be changed. Overall the place was very nice. Thank you to the Casa Cordoba staff, good job! The many steps, to get to the swimming pool there were 17 steps. We needed a china set for four people and we got only three, but we were given the extra plates and cups.
- Morganebarach (9/5): - L'emplacement en plein centre. Bel appartement
Bon accueil. Rien a dire Si vous etes sensible au bruit pour dormir je vous déconseille (en plein coeur du centre historique donc tres animé la nuit et mal isolé on entend beaucoup ses voisins)
- GEORGIOS (10/5): -
- Gianluca (8/5): Nice room in a great location -
- María del Pilar (7/5): - Muy poco. Fue una habitación muy cerrada, sin ventana. Estuvimos solos todo el tiempo. La habitación muy cerrada, sin ventana.
- Veronica (10/5): I would definitely stay again, its close to everything. Very safe. - The property is clean, and in a perfect place. Its a beautiful place. The stairs need some fix, but other than that its a perfect stay.
- sandra (10/5): -
- james (8/5): - The apartment was very nice and traditional, children loved the swimming pool upstairs and the balcony had double doors - keeping us cool from the heat and we couldn't hear the hubbub outside which was a plus. Air-conditioning was great, overall a lovely stay We would have liked more thorough cleaning, with a bit more attention to detail ( nothing crazy, we just found it was a bit dusty and we are allergy sufferes)
- Javier Oscar (10/5): -
Eramos 8.
- Agustina (10/5): Exceptional -
- Noboa (8/5): Very good - Very cool;clean;espacious Nothing
- Elizar (4/5): - It seems that the property is only geared for Spanish speaking guests. It’s almost impossible to communicate in English. The property is charming and well presented, and is very close to everything. But it is noisy. You will hear every sound from other guests in the other apartments. There is also no elevator, which makes it hard to drag your luggage on the wooden stairs. The linen and pillows are synthetic materials which are uncomfortable for sleeping. There is also no staff at the reception desk and you communicate only via WhatsApp.
- Ana carolina (8/5): - Location was amazing. However, they need to pay more attention to the cleaning. I was very disappointed to see that they didn’t changed the sheets of my bed. They were full of hairs and weren’t only head hairs also body hairs. The site don’t have reception so it was not possible to communicate with somebody to come and change the sheets. Those kind of details are the ones that they should take care more.
- Brian (6/5): Bathroom on different floor than bedrooms loud circular staircased - Excellent location. Nice staff. The pictures of the two bedroom apartment are a bit confusing. We could not tell what floor the bathroom was on until we got there. The circular stairwell is very rickety and would be difficult to Traverse at night and is loud
- Nicole (7/5): Location was perfect, room was basic and small - The location- right in the middle of the town No window and small for two people
- Stefano (1/5): NO PRIVACY AT ALL, NO RECEPTION, NO HOT WATER, NO WINDOWS - I don’t usually leave a review if it’s bad as I think that everybody can have a bad day, but this time I must to, to help other users.
Worst accommodation experience in Colombia from far!
Like being back living with my parents, you’ve to ring a bell and wait for somebody to open for you remotely, so you feel always controlled. Like big brother ahah
NO PRIVACY AT ALL!
If you like to feel in a jail, book here.
Also, once I had to wait like 2 minutes in front of the door to get it opened to leave, completely illegal!
No hot water.
No reception (just for few minutes when checking and sharp when is checkout otherwise you’ll be told off, happened 3 minutes after checkout hours), so I guess it shouldn’t be considered as an hotel (booking should put it in a different category). And also, the let me fill the passport details myself, hilarious.
At 7:50 somebody started working with a hummer on my room wall from the other side, so there were no chance to rest anymore, and it was not for like a short time, as when I left they’re still working.
No window.
The front door was glass for and the curtain was clearly let the sun in.
I was with a girl friend and the second time we got in (as you’ve to ring, wait for somebody to check remotely (like if you’re getting into a jail)) they started asking my friend to put her face in front of the cámara and say the passport number as they as “la muchachita es la misma de antes?” (If she esa the sale as the one checked in airbnb me, this was about to let me call the police but as I didn’t want to let them feel bad in my vacatiin (where you’re suppose to enjoy also your stay a part from the city you visit) I preferred to smile.
Location was ok but probably too much in the middle of noises, there were a live music concert going on after 3:30 am, but compared with the rest of the experience this was a tiny “bad” thing.
DEFINITELY NOT RECOMMENDED, SPECIALLY IF YOUR PRIVACY IS IMPORTANT FOR YOURSELVES.
- Eliot (10/5): Gorgeous colonial home right in the center - A beautiful and spacious historic home. The constant soliciting in the Centro Historico is super annoying
- Lucas (10/5): Exceptional -
- Maria (9/5): Superb -
- Stephen (10/5): Great value in the heart of the old town! - Casa Cordoba is perfectly located in the centre of the old town. Our apartment was very spacious with three rooms, a typical Cartagena balcony, and great value for money.
- Luis (10/5): Exceptional -
- Beatriz (9/5): Superb -
- De (9/5): Nice place - Nice rooftop pool, can't hear any noise from the street and great location That you have to ring everytime to enter and exit the hotel
- Jeremy (8/5): Very good - Best location within the old town!
- Karina (10/5): Exceptional -
- Constantin (9/5): Superb -
- Siddiqi (9/5): Superb - The location and the friendly and caring staff It is very noisy at night, but that is a side effect of the location, which is right on the centre of the old historic part.
- Hansy (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jeroen (4/5): Staff was unfriendly. My guests who stayed in a different hotel weren’t welcome. The told me this AFTER I booked. Also t - Staff was unfriendly. My guests who stayed in a different hotel weren’t welcome. The told me this AFTER I booked. Also the door policy is scary. You don’t get a key for the door. Many times you have to wait (long) before you can get in, and WORSE, to get out!!!!
- Sam (8/5): A great apartment let down by simple issues. - Overall the apartment itself is great, with some really nice character. However, The communication was bad: the phone number didn’t work, you couldn’t email them. Check in was lucky that the receptionist was there. Even then a phone number wasn’t given (the reception wasn’t occupied 24/7, and there were things we needed). Security of the property wasn’t the best, anyone could enter the building, the locks on the doors didn’t work and we had to really ask to get them fixed, not great when you’re travelling with kids in central Cartagena. The location was excellent.
- Anna (7/5): Good - Great location, AC, spacious room with enough closet space. The entry system is ridicoulus. This should be changed to some kind of entry code or something instead of calling reception every time.
- David (5/5): It was a bit misleading to call it a 2-bedroom. - Location was excellent We didn’t like the fact that we had to walk through one bedroom to get to the other one.
- Richard (6/5): Decent place in perfect location. - Perfect location. Little pool was a bonus. Having a room near more family was essential. AC, fridge, and all bathroom facilities worked perfectly. Things that would have been nice to have: A coffee maker, chair or couch, cabinet doors that stayed shut, better directions on how to use the electronic door lock.
- Daniel (10/5): - Great location in old town of Cartagena
- Raul (10/5): Exceptional -
- Graciela (8/5): - Good location
- Mbongeni (10/5): Great Stay at the centre of Cartagena - Staff hospitality N/A
- Corinne (10/5): Delightful friendly comfortable stay - Really smooth check-in, very friendly and helpful staff, (I missed breakfast one day as I took a tour and they kindly gave me a packed lunch to take with me!), amazing swimming pools and comfy loungers, spacious bedroom and bathroom with everything you need for a comfy stay. It's a short walk from the tourist places but that's an advantage because it's quiet I can't fault it, highly recommend
- Arturo (10/5): Exceptional -
- Daniel (9/5): Superb -
- Iris (5/5): Passable -
- Sonali (8/5): Nice hotel with great location! - Very clean and excellent location! The bathroom was on a different floor and the staircase did not feel safe to get down at night.
- Ehsan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Camilo (10/5): Amazing location and great customer service! - Location is perfect, close to everything and within walking distance of great restaurants, bars and tourist attractions.
The hotel is historically preserve and beautifully maintained Everything was great!
- Kara (7/5): Good - It was fine for the two day stay
- Vadym (10/5): - Thank you for an amazing experience
- Erica (8/5): Very good - Central location, large comfortable bed, and kitchen. Staff were communicative and attentive. We did find some cockroaches, but that could be typical of older buildings.
- Candace (10/5): Exceptional - The location, apartment, and staff were all amazing!!
- Leila (9/5): Superb -
- Lieven (7/5): a pleasant stay in the center of Cartagena. - hotel is situated in the center of the city so everything is closeby. the room was quiet, just like the other people said. breakfast was not included. we had to go to an other facility and take breakfast over there but we finally had breakfast in the streets taking an Arepa, the local stuff.
- Enriquez (6/5): Pleasant -
- Alvaro (8/5): Super comfortable stay in the city Center - The apartment that we booked was fully furnished in a classic style. The location is superb since you are right in the center with all the places worth visiting in a 3-4 minutes by walk distance.
But without any doubt the best is the courtesy of the staff. Ms Susana was helpful and available all the time.
To finish with, they offer the possibility of doing a late checkout, a place to store our luggage and free access to the swimming pool the rest of the day. To go in/go out the building you need to call through the intercom the 24h reception desk.
- Joseph (10/5): - The only negative I had was the way the front door operated. There must be a better way to access the hotel. Key cards maybe?
- Jeremy (9/5): Very nice, location is great for convenience but can be bad because of traffic and congestion - Location Location.
- Felice (9/5): Superb - Wonderful location, quick walk to everything!! , Clean, comfy and perfect for a family.
- Melissa (9/5): Spacious with great location on busy street. Beautiful view from the balcony. - Perfect location. Easy to access and great security system. They allowed us to leave a suitcase there for several days. That I wasn't told I needed to do a walk through check out with an employee. It could have made us very late since we were on the way to the airport. I didn't like that they said you couldn't have guests. It's a private reservation not a hostel.
- Fae (9/5): The room was very nice and the location was right in the heart of the central historic district. - Nice suite, pool was nice, good location We did not like the entry system where we had to press a button and wait for a response to be let in and out. The staff are running two hotels and sometimes were running back and forth between buildings, so we had to wait a few minutes to be let in and out. In an emergency, you could not just get out of the building.
- Ana (8/5): Good for the price - They provided medical assistance when I got sick, excellent service The shower need to get fix, wet the floor ND water runs to the bedroom
- Nicolas (5/5): Great location, facilities could be better. Only one bathroom. - Location is great. It is located at one of the bussiest and best streets in Cartagena Old Center. The pictures are way better than what the property really is. The property is super dark. There is only one bathroom for all of the guests. The swiming pool is really small and did not look so clean. There is a very strange method to ring a doorbel to get in the property, but it is strange because you need to ring the doorbel to also get out of the property. If they dont ring you when you want to get out, you are basically trapped.
- Ana (6/5): good location - the location was great there was no recepction, we ask for a other towel and the answer was that we needed to wait until the next day as they would change all of them (because we were living). The pictures were complete different as the real property
- Verified traveler (10/5): Family trip to historic Cartagena de las Indias - The customer service was amazing. The staff was very cordial, responsive and accommodating. The apartment 1 (superior, sleeping 4) had great colonial character and was very spacious. It is also very conveniently located in the middle of everything and it is busy day and night that means it could be an issue if you are sensitive to noise (not an issue for us at all). The small pool on the rooftop is great to refresh and the balcony is nice to watch the busy Calle Roman. The only thing that could be improved is the overall cleanness of the floor.
- Harendre (10/5): great location and clean - location was great does not allow any guests
- Andrea (1/5): Not enjoyable. I wanted to cancel my booking but there was nobody there to explain me how to do so. - Nothing 1. It is very noisy not only in the evening for all the parties but you are woken up with street loud noises. This should be clarify in the property specifications.
2. The access to the hotel is by a buzzer and many times the service is “busy” so you can go in and out as on the time you wish.
3. There is nobody of staff members to help you. You are on your own. This information should be on the booking.
4. the receptionist arrived 20 min after we arrived, so we had to wait all that time to access our room… while not knowing what was going on with our booking.
5. The 19 % Tax extra should be more clear on the booking to know the real price not when you are there and having the staff of the hotel chasing you by phone to tell you this news when you are working.
6. The property is run down to high the price for what it offers
7. the shower spills all the water out to the bathroom.
- Basak (7/5): location is great - family room size is suitable for 4-people family the walls are so thin that you always think someone is walking or talking in your room
- Michael (6/5): The place has potential but would not risk staying there again given the problems. - The place has more potential than it is currently realizing. The pool area, though small, is quite nice, especially the mural paintings that have been done. The air conditioning was very comfortable, and in general the room had a comfortable good energy and smelled nice. Given the problems we had, the staff (Susana particularly) tried their best. There were a number of problems that could be easily resolved if the management/owners were more on top of things and present: ceiling fan was dirty; shower does not have a proper door/barrier and water spills all over the bathroom; drain does not work well in the shower and produced standing water. Such things already noted in prior reviews, and yet unresolved. The duvet on the bed looked old and was ripped in a couple places. The "safe" was not bolted to anything and was in a cabinet that could be locked but was open from behind anyway. TV controls were taped with black utility tape. Room could use more color or art. No glasses were provided for water or any beverage until we asked and were brought from the other property. BIGGEST PROBLEM: intermittency with wifi infrastructure, without wifi for an entire day and the morning of another day. For what they are charging, this was unacceptable and had been noted in previous reviews but not resolved. When complaining to the owner/manager, I was condescendingly told to "Relax, you're in Colombia." Since he is apparently a non-Colombian national making his living off of tourism in Colombia, I found this comment particularly appalling, as if to say, "you can't expect more in this country," which is absolutely false and a denial of his own responsibilities, since Colombia is quite modernized and other hotels and restaurants seem to have no trouble maintaining dependable wifi. It seemed that the staff, who were trying their best (especially Susana) could not always immediately get answers from him during daytime working hours regarding problems, which is also part of the problem. The owners need to hire on-site managers if not willing to do the work well. The owner brought a priest to bless the place the day wifi was out but in addition needs to urgently pay what is necessary to install proper wifi infrastructure and address other problems mentioned.
- Paul (6/5): Pleasant -
- Audrey (10/5): - Super friendly and attentive staff. Perfect location with 5 mins if all tour departures
- Allan (8/5): very nice place, would stay again, but recommend improvements - Great location, lovely small place, quiet, considering it’s location I need to replace the showerhead and improve the draining of the shower facility
- anjeza (10/5): - Great location
No parking option- had to pay a guy on the street to watch our car.
Clean and close to everything in the walled city
Did not like that you had to be let in and out of the building by someone remotely each time
- Robert (4/5): - No
- Andrea (8/5): - We stayed in the one-bedroom apartment facing the street. The location is right in the center of the old town. Having a small kitchen is really nice, and with the 24H minimarket next door, you have easy access to basic groceries (coffee, bread, cheese, eggs, etc). Fruit vendors are out front in the morning. The room has a shared balcony where you can watch the lively chaos and street activity.
The property is clean and secure. There isn't anyone on site, but the door buzzer (in and out access) is managed by someone at their other property. Occasionally you might have to wait a few minutes for someone to answer, but most of the time it's an immediate response.
The only serious drawback to this property is the noise. The street is really loud with people and dance music until 2am every night, and sometimes people just sit and drink in the street playing loud music when things close. Earplugs are not enough. And, the walls are thin. If apartment neighbors have to get up early, you will too.
- Brian (10/5): - The property is in a very nicely restored old building right in the center of Old Town Cartagena. Conveniently located, basically near everything. The staff was extremely helpful and attentive, they were truly second to none. I would highly recommend this place if you are looking to stay in the old town.
- Gillian (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sheri (9/5): Superb -
- David (10/5): Beautiful place in a great location. - Casa Cordoba Roman was great. We got Room 3 which had two levels which was great with the kids. It has a balcony to look out on the streets of Cartegena and all it's action. Which it does have a LOT of action. The great location comes with it sound from the action outside, late into the mornings. That is the nature of Cartagena. They helped us get transport to the airport, and were accommodative with anything we asked for. Plus the pool on the roof was great with the kids and provided a cool perspective of the old buildings around you. Highly Recommended.
- Morgan (9/5): Great centrally located apartment - Great central location and lots of space. We rented the 3 bedroom apartment for 4 people and it was excellent. Cute rooftop plunge pool. Great security (you got buzzed in and out when they see your face on the security camera). No hot water in the shower but it really didn't matter because Cartegena is so hot that a cold shower was really wonderful after a minute of getting used to it. Reception is at their sister hotel 2 blocks away but they were always available by phone or text. Great WiFi in all areas. Full kitchen with fridge and freezer. There is a mini market directly below for all the essentials. Definitely recommend if you're looking for an apartment rather than a hotel. If I had to pick something it would be that there's no hot water in the shower but honestly, it's so hot in Cartegena that I didn't need hot water! The cold was so refreshing
- Yhair (10/5): Exceptional -
- Rocio (7/5): Good -
- Kaley (10/5): Exceptional -
- Mario (10/5): I would stay here again 100% in fact I very much hope to. The cleaning lady was so sweet and helpful - Location could not be better. On a block between 2 plazas everything at your doorstep. Our room was beautiful with historic style. Very comfortable, air conditioning worked great. Lovely balcony overlooking street. Busy location but noise level was perfectly acceptable considering location. They organized a tour to Isla Rosario and a taxi to the airport at the end of our stay and both were excellent. Spiral staircase to 2nd floor bedroom might not be for everyone but we liked it. Stay here. Touts in the neighborhood are not the hotel's fault but you must deal with them. The intercom system to get into the building is odd. A touch key would be better. Breakfast being included would be better even if it were offered at the parent property. Difficult to get luggage up the spiral staircase to bedroom. Bathroom could use some shelves.
- Charlotte (10/5): Perfect spot for first timers of Cartagena - Great location! Central to everything! Staff was amazing!
- César (8/5): Very good -
- Tgiannis (10/5): Exceptional -
- Vlad (10/5): Nice apartment, perfect for groups. - Really nice apartment in the heart of Cartagena.
- Adrien (8/5): Great value and perfect location - Great location. Was great to watch all the activity from the balcony. Bed was really comfy.
Receptionist was really nice.
Quality price is really good. The two rooms are following each other. There is a mezzanine where you have the two single beds and then you enter into the main room.
- Katiascho (3/5): Not a good option - My room was next door to a home power plant and that made it impossible for me to sleep at night or even to stay during the day. When the power plant motor was on, the noise was absurd and the furniture and cabinet doors in my room began to shake...
Either I had an absurd noise on my room or the whole hotel had no power ar all (Cartagena had a 2 power outages during my period of stay and that seems not so rare, than every shop and hotel there has a small motor power plant).
I had to complain seriously with the staff otherwise they would not help me. At some point my room had no power and no water, Apparently the water needed power to run. The staff told me that it would be a "great exception and benefit" to move me to another room. After I complained again and had asked for my money back, the staff managed to move me to another room less noisy. This second room was located on another hotel from the same owner: Casa Cordoba Estrella. This hotel was bigger and better and also had a power plant. Hooray! I could not hear anything when it was turned on again by the next power outage.
- Johnny (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ann (10/5): Excellent - Excellent service and location. Beyond my expectations!
- Ryan (2/5): Never again. - The room had two floors. The security had to open the door every time we came in and out. Several times they refused to open the door thinking my girlfriend was a prostitute, so we were trapped inside or outside like a prison. The staff woke us up by banging loudly at 9am trying to say that my girlfriend could not spend the night and that it was against the rules despite my reserving two people. The air conditioning was broken and the spiral stairs nearly broke every time we tried to go to the second floor. Furthermore, just to flush out all the issues of my worst Booking.com experience, the hotel started construction next to our room at 8AM on Saturday morning while workers passed through our private balcony area. An unpleasant experience all around.
