- Lori (6/5): Nice location-awful odor - Beautiful hotel, very Baroque in style-so much so that the suite was off putting, which doesn’t show in their pictures. Beautiful and very large tub in suite. Sadly, the entire suite wreaked of sewage smell, most likely from a sour drain. It made the experience awful and unbearable. We had to keep the doors to the bathroom shut tight at all times. We should have known based on the 5 or so bottles of incense/perfume scattered throughout the entryway and suite. Luckily, we only booked 2 nights there and spent every waking minute outside. The hotel location was very near the train station and shopping areas, which was ideal. Looking back, we should’ve requested a room change immediately upon arrival when we noticed the odor.

A five minute walk from Santa Maria Novella, two minutes from the Arno, and maybe ten minutes from the Uffizi, it is perfectly located. We loved many things about the hotel: the staff, especially; the public spaces (you could imagine you lived in an updated, beautiful 16th Century palazzo); the garden; the location. The next time we come back to Florence, we will return to this wonderful hotel.

- SpaceMan99 (10/5): Perfect Hotel to feel the spirit of Florence - My husband and I had the privilege of spending a week at the Palazzo del Marchese di Camugliano in Florence in May, and it was a highlight of our month-long trip to Italy. We have stayed in many fine hotels in both the US and Europe, but this one stands out as exceptional. To stay in a beautiful, historic Italian palazzo in the center of Florence was amazing, but it was more than that. This small boutique hotel provided an atmospheric experience that made us feel as though we were living in the Italian renaissance. Our spacious room was exquisitely painted in frescoes reminiscent of the historic buildings we visited in Firenze. Near our room, we had access to two beautiful, fresco-adorned living rooms full of comfortable seating where we enjoyed soaking up the ambiance in the evenings. It felt like our own palazzo, since we rarely saw the other guests except at breakfast, which was served in an equally lovely space adorned with original paintings of the period. Outside is a lovely, enclosed garden, complete with fountain – a private oasis in the midst of a busy and exciting city. The refined service was outstanding, unobtrusive and friendly, and each morning a concierge was available to answer questions, make recommendations, and call for transportation. The entire experience was unique and memorable, with every attention paid to ensure a remarkable stay. We loved it!

- Navigator764418 (10/5): Perfect Rosso Hideaway - We now want to build a house to have a bedroom this big! We absolutely loved our stay here. The staff were very accommodating without being overbearing. We absolutely loved our room there during our stay, we also very much appreciated the outdoor space to be able to get outside in a quiet space after wandering Florence the surrounding areas all day. The continental breakfast that included a selection of a main entre was fantastic. We loved the orange juice that was available most of the day. The weather was not fantastic while were we there, they provided umbrellas while it was raining. It was also cold and had to have our cooler weather clothes cleaned while there. The service was quick, we dropped off in the morning and was delivered to our room by end of day, worth the price. Maid service was exceptional. Hotel was generally very quiet, and their outdoor space is fantastic as mentioned before. Enjoyed the neighborhood that were were in, easy walks to everything without a lot of noise. Easy walk to high end shopping, Duomo, Santo Spirito and Ponte Vecchio area.

- PRATIKl (10/5): Experience History and Luxury in the Middle of Florence - We stayed at this wonderful piece of History for 4 nights, and I would highly recommend this Hotel for anyone who would love to experience luxury in a not so contemporary way. First of all, it is not your regular Hotel. It is a former 16th century residence of the Nicolini family who purchased it from the most powerful family of the renaissance period, the Medici Family. You can see the passage of time in this Hotel, which is no less than a palace. We stayed in the Luminaia suite. It was pretty big with a green theme decor. Though I would have preferred the Cigna suite, however it was unavailable during the days of my stay. But the Luminaia too was a wonderful room with very high and decorated ceilings. The attached terrace garden is somewhere you would love to have breakfast and spend evenings on sipping some wine. The Nicolini family personally has taken care of the decor and the artefacts on display in the Hotel and its very tasteful. The breakfast room itself in reminiscence of dining like a king, and the breakfast staff is very cheerful and happy to fulfil all your request. Do not miss their croissants and breads at breakfast. Just one little request would be to serve freshly squeezed fruit juice instead of Canned juices for breakfast.
- MMPJMH (10/5): YOU OWE IT TO YOURSELF TO STAY HERE...!!! - This is the most luxurious, low key hotel in the world. Sometimes luxurious hotels can make you feel slightly uptight with all the hovering by staff but not here. They are invisible unless you need them, warm, happy to help in any way. Check in is to the right as you enter the courtyard, then someone will escort you to your room. Our room, The Studio, which is actually a King 1-Bedroom, was spacious. crisp, clean and well stocked with everything we needed -- including a small tucked-away mini-kitchen with stove top, refrigerator, dishes/silverware, pans to cook. Very unexpected. Bed was beyond comfortable and made up with fresh linens daily, something that often doesn't happen in many hotels these days. Breakfast is made to order, or Continental also available. Pastries and juices are available all day. The hotel is about a block from the river, a 7-minute walk from the train station, and 15 minutes to the Uffizi. Perfect location to see beautiful Florence then return to the best hotel the city has to offer. No surprise it is rated #1 of all 30 inns in Florence.
- Verified traveler (10/5): The palace experience - It was amazing experience to stay at a palace! The rooms are beautiful they are different in sizes and every room has its own story. The location is perfect it is near everything. The staff are friendly and helpful.
- pigletthepug (10/5): It was like a dream - We spent 5 nights at the Palazzo. It was a dreamy and delightful stay. The Palazzo is quite difficult to categorize. It's not a full service hotel but it has 24 hour reception and wonderful service. It's nowhere near the price range of 5 star hotels, but gives the feeling of 5 star experience. It is a beautiful and serene place, filled with elegant things. Instead of bottled plastic waters, there are water bottles you pour into nice dainty glasses. Breakfast plates are beautiful shapes instead of generic round white plates. You look around the place, and your eyes will always find beautiful things, both old and not so old. I was originally taken aback by how dark the suite felt. But we ended up really enjoying the room. Despite it's high ceiling, it was super cozy. The bed and pillows were super comfortable. Water pressure in the shower was great, though the door never quite sealed so we always ended up with a little water on the floor. The suite faced the courtyard. But that means we also were not comfortable opening the curtains for privacy reasons. The Palazzo never once felt like a hotel. It just felt like an elegant yet comfortable home. I loved that we got to experience it. On the minus part: It is in the city so you will hear noise. And I suspect it's somehow on the route to either hospital or police station because we hear quite a few of those. Other than that, I really can't find any other fault. I wish my other hotel stays leave me with such a deep impression as the Palazzo. Give it a try, it really is something different.

Our stay this time was as memorable as our last. It is such a lovely palace, convenient to all the main attractions in Florence and also to great shopping. There is so much history at this place, and the attentive staff were well informed and more than eager to share. There are plenty of luxury hotels at every price point available in Florence. But if you are looking for an unforgettable and unique experience, then the Palazzo is worth considering.

We (myself, my husband and my mother) had two rooms- China Blue and Corte- and we loved our accommodations! The “living room” between the rooms annex was perfect! Between Apéritifs every evening to substantial & delicious Breakfasts in the morning we were very well taken care of at Palazzo Camugliano. And like other past guests have said, really other than at Breakfast, we felt like we had the Palazzo to ourselves. What a perfect, perfect stay- thank you.

The bed left us with kind of sore backs. With a nicer mattress this would be an incredible hotel. If that is not a criterion for you this hotel is terrific. Easy walk from the train station. Some nice amenities like a mini bar with vin santo and a great big bathroom.

Plus the location was superb - an easy walk into the centre and with some amazingly good local restaurants (many in the same street). - curioustraveller42 (10/5): The best of Florence - This has become my favourite hotel, anywhere. It is a treasure in every sense of the word. The location is unbeatable and the car parking is excellent. We booked last minute and were lucky to get a suite opening to the garden, however, I suspect the charm of this hotel extends throughout and any room would be a delight. All staff are very lovely. The experience is completely divine and relaxing. As one review suggested, you feel more as if you have come to stay with an aristocratic family, which in fact you have. Breakfast is delicious but is very much run for visitors and in retrospect I would have grabbed a coffee and pastry, as the Italians do and headed out, relaxing for lunch, when all the shops close. I hope very much that I have an opportunity to return.

The staff were so welcoming, and so helpful that they almost felt like family by the time we left. Our room was extraordinary, painted with reanaissance style murals it was almost like being in the house of Michaelangelo, or Raphael - we felt immersed in the history of Florence and its surroundings. Its called a palace for a reason. It really felt like one, and we felt like truly welcome guests. We can absolutley recommend this hotel 100% to anyone visiting g Floernce, i feel so lucky we found it. Additionally, its central location made walking everywhere easy and there are loads of really great restuarants nearby.
- Jose (8/5): - Close to the train station and tourist attractions. Hotel was gated at night so felt safe. However the room itself had several concerns. To start it had an odd, poorly designed layout. For one, it had multiple stairwells. We had to go into a narrow corridor that took us down a few steps only to go up a narrow stairwell to get to out room door. The bedroom was also a climb up a long stairwell. Then there was the living space that was in a corner room with an odd recessed wall that split the wall into two levels. Moreover we didn't have hot water for two days and our rain shower head did not turn on. We had to shower holding the spray nozzle. Could have stayed elsewhere for much less.
- nickgar1966 (10/5): Beautiful hotel in the heart of Florence - We had two nights in Florence and this is just an extraordinary hotel. It is truly a palace and the staff are polite and accommodating. Nothing is too much of a problem. Our room, the Cina Blue was the large with a great bath room. The bed was huge and comfortable. The adjacent lounge was opulent and I can go on about the lavish nature of every room we had access too. Location wise, it's very close to the designer shops and lots of the historic sites.

Enjoy breakfast in the internal garden and have the same experience as famous authors did who stayed there in the past. Although living in a midieval palace, all facilities including airco are modern.
- lilys568 (8/5): Luxurious palace in central location - I just got back from a trip to Florence where I stayed at the Palazzo del Camugliano. I found booking a hotel in Florence really overwhelming with so many options, but I definitely picked the right place! Florence is a walking city, and this hotel is at the centre of it all. I found it really easy to walk to the various sights and museums, and the hotel staff are really helpful if you want to book anything specific/want some inspiration for what to do. I was travelling solo with a big suitcase and was quite nervous about traversing the hotel's various staircases by myself, but I shouldn't have worried! A very lovely porter took my bag for me and helped me settle in. The hotel itself is stunning. From the drawing rooms to the peaceful garden (where they serve breakfast in the summertime), it feels like living in 16th century Florence, but with all the modern amenities you could want. My room was vast, well kitted out, and beautifully maintained. I loved going to sleep under the vaulted ceiling. One thing I will mention is that I was staying in the Camino room, which is street facing, and it was very loud in the mornings. I'm a heavy sleeper so this didn't trouble me, but if you're a lighter sleeper I would make sure to try and stay in one of the inward-facing rooms. Otherwise, stay there! It was beautiful, and a great base to discover the city from.
- FiveGuys2019 (6/5): Mixed feeling - Excellent location, beautiful hotel. Needs updating, rooms smelt damp in the midst of a heat wave. Immediately outside the hotel constantly smelt of sh*t! Complained about the smell in the room which was from the room itself not from outside and extractor fan in the bathroom but they didn't fix it or offer an alternative room. I paid extra for a beautiful room for my wife's birthday but they didn't really care. Staff at the reception could be more helpful and caring. Will try a different hotel next time.
- BizTravelEU (10/5): Don't search any further.. - I stay in roughly 20 different hotels each year and am a bit of a perfectionist, but Palazzo di Camugliano superseded my expectations. It is classified as a B&B on Tripadvisor, but this is a luxurious hotel minus a bar/restaurant/fitness, things you will not miss as you are in the heart of this city. Visitors coming to Florence come for the history, beauty and culture, what is the point of a modern or nondescript hotel. This palazzo provides the perfect setting to enjoy Florence at its best. Beautiful rooms, low-key but excellent service, beautiful a-la-carte breakfast on own terrace and drinks/canapés available all day. With only 10 or 11 rooms, it is quiet and all feels opulent, making the price I paid (260) seem cheap. I cannot imagine what the upkeep of such a house costs.. I slept in the Baldacchino rosso suite, amazing. But the smaller rooms look beautiful and inviting too. Downsides – at breakfast on the terrace, there are a number of pigeons trying to take your food. Might sound funny, but it is a pain. Not sure what the hotel can do about it, buy a falcon maybe.. You are in the middle of the city, so it can get a bit noisy outside. But that is hardly the hotels fault. Windows are well isolated, just bring earplugs if sensitive. Online, they promise a free upgrade upon availability if you book directly. My receptionist knew nothing of this, but we figured it out at the end.

Peaceful pretty courtyard to spend evenings in and have al fresco breakfast. Food is exceptional...breakfast consisted of juices, tea/coffee, plain/mixed omelettes with or without salmon/bacon accompaniment; meat platters, fruit platters, pastries. Throughout the day there was also fruit juices/water and pastries to help yourself to too. Fridge in room with free water and option to buy other items ie wine The hotel had lovely private, sitting areas if you didnt want to stay in your room Rooms are enormous so great for multiple occupants. Have usual bathrobes, toiletries expected at this level. Staff are super friendly and very attentive to service Hotel great for walking to all areas in Florence and lots restaurants in nearby vicinity for evening dinner If there was a negative it would be the amount of staircases but that would depend on the room allocated...there is a lovely glass lift.... We had the basement tho which may have been the old servants quarters...huge room and lovely but so many stairs when up and down frequently

- Grainne (8/5): - Hotel in a good location and very charming. We stayed in the Studio with our two kids. The room was very spacious and beds comfortable but a couple of things could be improved. One, the drain in the bath/shower was clogged and the temperature gauge for the rainshower overhead was scalding hot and could not be adjusted. The room itself was very dark and poorly lit. The Studio is below the dining room so you do need to go down a set of stairs to access but noise from upstairs was not a problem. The room is across from a staff area also - it felt a bit like you were in a much lesser space than the grandeur of the rest of the hotel but this is reflected in the price. Breakfast was very good and the staff were very helpful and let us rest in the living rooms while we waited to go to the train station after we had checked out and gone sightseeing. Beautiful walled garden above street level - they are doing restoration work on the plaster now but we didnt hear any noise.

It also has a good family history attached to which the staff are happy to tell you about. It’s location is ideal for exploring Florence and it also only a 10 minute walk from the train station. The layout is quirky and it has a wonderful 1st floor roof garden that is lovely for breakfast or to enjoy any part of the day away from the busy city. Breakfast is very good and prepared to order. Our room was a good size with large bathroom. It’s main feature was the high calling elaborately decorated with stars. This room is not for the light sleeper as nearby restaurants mean that it can stay noisy until the small hours. Road noise can start early as well. We enjoyed our stay and Florence is wonderful.

Breakfast is cooked however you want and there’s always a selection of cake during the day. However, they were not very good at refilling toiletries when they’re running low or run out but the thestaff were very elocution I’d you asked for more. Some inconsistencies with the bottled water - we came back to our rooms with bottled water on the second night but none of the other nights but the fridge came with soft drinks and beer.

- Chris (4/5): Policy gets in the way of customer service - The overall hotel was very nice, clean, and the staff was helpful. I unknowingly booked a room through Expedia that could not be cancelled, my wife who is pregnant received word from the doctor she could no longer fly ten days before the trip. Expedia called the hotel and they would not allow me to cancel the four night stay. I was already in Europe for business and decided to stay at the hotel for two of the four nights, forfeiting the room rate for the other two nights. I would have expected a refund given that there was plenty of notice. For a highly rated hotel i was shocked by this policy and not accustomed to it in the US. I would encourage you to read the fine print before booking. The only other complaint of the hotel would be the noise at night due to the location

- log (10/5): Wonderful - This is a lovely hotel, reflects the historical feel of Florence. What made this a fantastic experience was the staff. Friendly, courteous and nothing was too much trouble. Room comfortable, four poster twin beds. Amazing marble bathroom, with underfloor heating. If you are looking for a little luxury that will feel like home, within walking distance of most historical attractions, this is it. Oh and you will be able to find amazing shops.We will return

- Mimi (8/5): Beautiful hotel with a few flaws - I booked an Italian vacation for 3 couples. I had booked 3 junior suites for this hotel and I also requested the nicest rooms available, as it was our first time at this hotel. When we arrived, our friends received the junior suites as described on the hotel website and in their photos. They both had extremely large rooms with sofas and deluxe bathrooms with two sinks, etc. My husband and I received a room completely different. Our room w/ bathroom was all in one. Not nearly the size of the other rooms and only one sink in the bathroom area of our room. I was not pleased and expressed that to the staff, but they were not able to do anything. Although the staff (of young gentlemen) were nice enough, they did not understand English well and were not able to help when we were dissatisfied. The rooms are a little stinky. Maybe old plumbing? Breakfast was included as well as Prosecco in the afternoon, but you will have to wait a while for it all as there is not enough staff to get anything out to you in a timely manner. All of us agreed that a more seasoned staff is what is lacking with this hotel. Also, it would have been nice to sit out in the lovely back yard if the cushions on the chairs/sofas were cleaned off. They were always covered with dust and leaves and a we had to step over the hose once to get to the seating. Like I said, not enough staff and lacking a seasoned staff. The property itself is beautiful, but there are issues that need to be addressed.

Was without question the best hotel experience I have ever had. The location is amazing. The hotel is beautiful. Out apartment was spacious and clean. The only thing I wish was that we could have stayed longer. If I am ever lucky enough to be back in Firenze, without question, it will be my only option for accommodation.

Luca and Marta were truly exceptional in their service, from the email TWO WEEKS BEFORE ARRIVAL (with offers to help set up tours, reservations, etc), to the arrival with a relaxing snack and drink on the "veranda." Marta speaks English, Italina, and Spanish, which was very helpful, and she is a sweetheart. Luca went out of his way to help us recover a special bracelet that we had left at the hotel. Both went above and beyond. The room itself was VERY spacious, especially for European standards and was by far the best room that we staying in, in Europe. Overall, a really great experience and one that I highly recommend.
