- Ruban (1/5): - Nothing extraordinary This is important. There were consistent loud thuds and noises from above. There was an event down the street. I could clearly loudly hear the whole thing! The staffs were vacuuming at 9.30+ am!!! I was supposed to check in only at 12. It was supposed to be a restful stay. I doubt if i had rest.

- Claudia (4/5): Good location, but cockroaches, no windows nor working A/C - The location close to the shopping mall is very convenient and there are streets with a huge variety of food around, just at walking distance. The hotel provides dispenser for drinking water, which is really positive and welcome. The room, especially the toilet had several small cockroaches, which started to increase in number (and size) the second day. They were around the bathroom and then started to come into the room. The room has no window at all and the air conditioning turns on, but doesn't cool the room at all, so it was always boiling. I didn't report the insects as I was just killing them the first day, and I was leaving the second day, when they increased, so I just reported on my way out of the hotel. No hand wash soap, you have to step into the shower to get some soap when you use the sink. Furniture needs a bit of touch and care.

Staff are friendly and helpful - I had an issue with my WiFi and they did all they could to assist me - they even sent an engineer to check the router. Good value for money!

- Anonymous (1/5): Bad - location, close to my relative’s home the front desk staff. i had to cancel my march 18-21 stay because the staff switched the rooms without asking first. when i turned down her offer of compensation she repeatedly sigh very unpleasantly. note this: march 18, 2023, around 7 pm. staff was a young woman with short hair. very unpleasant person. shouldn’t be allowed to work in hospitality.

- ferdiani2021 (10/5): Super unbelieveble service - Surprise banget on the first day check in, they gave me welcome snack (cantik) & welcome card which was make me melted. They put my old family picture completed with my children when they still very young. Especially for me which often far away from them.. Superb💕 The hotel so nice and very clean. All staff from the security until the GM was so friendly. Strong recommended Hotel in Surabaya. Definitely Will stay again for the next visit. Keep up the good work Hotel 88 Embong Malang,💕💕
- yousufkurniawan (10/5): Hotel for business trip - The hotel has minimalist concept and good for business trip. That is why there is no other facilities, like gym, swimming pool, park, etc. But they provide spa per request. The room is comfortable and clean. The staff is polite and work fast even you ask their service at the late of night. The best thing is the breakfast menu where local and traditional menu are served well. The hotel is located in the business area and near Surabaya's icon, like Taman BUngkul and Jembatan Merah.

- SiriponKamontum (6/5): Good breakfast, dirty bed sheet, dirty towels - The buffet breakfast is good with various choices. Free WiFi with good speed. Free 2 bottles of mineral water every day. There was a water dispenser of hot and cold on every floor. For my room, it did not has a window. Some nights, I smelled cigarette smoke from the ventilation system in the bath room. Towels, bed sheet, and pillow cases were dirty (changed everyday, but stained and dirty every day). No shampoo provided (only liquid soap available in the shower area). Water pressure of my bathroom was poor. The hotel located on an alley without sidewalk, so it was not easy to walk through the traffic.
- sandratZ8522OP (10/5): Excellent Stay on Budget - Hotel 88 Embong Malang is located in the center of Surabaya, many food choices on walking distance, you can even walk to Tunjungan Plaza. They have spacious room with wooden floor and large window with city view. Bathroom and hot water OK, WIFI OK, Air-con OK. They provided water dispenser in the hall so even though they didn't provide electric kettle you can still make hot tea or coffee. The parking area is very limited so I recommend you not to bring private car.
- UL1 (8/5): Surprisingly satisfied! - I don’t often stay at budget hotels so was doubtful at first. Stayed for three nights. My room was just okay with no windows, but the service was excellent. Hotel’s front office and housekeeping staff were warm, polite, and professional. Bed and pillow was comfortable enough (a bit damp-ish, bit I brought a sleeping bag liner). Food was cheap and pretty good. Bathroom was good, water pressure good, hot water no problem. I slept well during my stay, and enjoyed the good wifi, updated my iOS, had my phone data backed up 😁So yes, I was surprisingly satisfied.

- faridahk12969 (8/5): Small yet Comfortable rooms for resting and sleeping after touring Surabaya. - Stayed 2 nites with family of 11 with 5 different rooms. Rooms are small and windowless, but clean sufficient space for 2 for the twin room. No electric kettle but cold/ hot water dispenser available on each level. Breakfast spread was good with mainly Indonesian cuisine. Food was tasty. Hotel is near to Tunjungan Plaza, about 10-15 minutes walk to the main shopping street in Surabaya and centrally located. Near to many eating places provided you are not fussy with eating at local restaurants. Near to Rawon Setan restaurant, the famous Indo food but we missed the place as we discovered it after we had our dinner. Generally a comfortable place to stay for resting and sleeping after touring Surabaya.

The hotel really great, in the centre of city and the most impressive was polite staff with great help and wonderful breakfast with so many variant culinary food. - Erik-Jan (6/5): Reasonable but with moderate facilities. - Pretty well in the city centre. be aware that there are more hotels with the same name in the city. this is the one mentioned in the Lonely Planet. although thelocation on the map in the last edition, 2016, is not correct.It is about 1 km more to the west at the intersection Bubutan/Embong Malang. They do not have a restaurant or bar. Only a 24/7 roomservice. They do not provide any alcoholic drinks. Rooms are decent but not really special.

- Aydee (8/5): An exceptional hotel - The hotel staff was very polite and helpful. They were always ready to provide assistance, especially when it comes to the bags and luggage. They also have a cafe outside the hotel lobby where guests can dine in. They serve breakfasts every morning for a few hours and there were various kinds food. Wi-fi was excellent, as we can connect to it even from our rooms. The room was clean and aesthetic. The shower was powerful which is good for a long day's shower. Heater was on point as well. On top of that, the housekeeping was top notch as well.

- Andy (8/5): Nice budget hotel with excellent breakfast service - This is our 2nd time staying in this hotel. Just like our previous stay, my wife and I found the staff were still very friendly and helpful. All of our room requests were also promptly served. In addition to strategic place that close to nearby local eatery, this hotel also provides afternoon refreshment free of charge. Simply put, we were satisfied with their services, facilities and location. During our stay we also met with the hotel manager, Mr. Didik Abadi, and the main chef, Mr. Mario Wiguna. They are very courteous and willing to listen to some inputs from the guests. Kudos to Mr. Didik who has led the hotel staff to do excellent service. Kudos also to Mr. Mario and his team who had prepared excellent breakfast with different menu everyday. They are also willing to go extra miles to meet our wish when we asked them to cook something that is off the regular breakfast menu (such as klepon, italian pene, etc.) Truly, this is a nice budget hotel. Keep up the good works!

The room had no window, which I was not aware of at the time of booking. The quality of the room was "okay"; the bathroom was very small. The breakfast buffet was very good.
