Guest Reviews
- jess (2/5): Reasonably close to beach but not comfortable - Old, awkward, lacks facilities, no coffee or jug, no shampoo, two single beds strapped together with a huge lump in the middle.
- Michelle (6/5): Close to beach and nightlife - Value for money!! Not a five star resort but if you're looking for accommodation close to everything just to sleep, it's great.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - the hotel was ok but the room no 47 we found very dusty and the room really needed a good clean ,other than that it was ok.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Well priced for Surfers - A little untidy and not cleaned properly from last guests.
- Tay (6/5): Nice hotel in the centre of everything - Lovely little hotel pretty much in the centre of everything, walking distance to all the shops etc, Nice place with a lovely outdoor setting with a bbq area and a pool/spa
- Kalina (10/5): Perfect location - I was really delighted to stay at Raffles Royale as it was true value for money. Hotel is based just a few minutes walk to the main streets of Surfers Paradise, so we just parked our park downstairs and wondered everywhere by foot - to the beach, to cafes and restaurants, shops and nightclubs, it was great! When we got back to the hotel to relax after day of shopping, we rested on a comfy couch in a living room of our apartment. It was so relaxing and comfortable. Before we went to bed we had a swim in the pool and I got into the spa and looked into the stars. It was a bliss. I highly recommend this place!
- Disappointed (4/5): Nope - Old, noisy, weird stains in the carpet. We were phoned at 10am to ask when we were getting there as they wanted to go to the movies, We said around 2. Ok no problem, just be here between 12 and 3. Then we were called again at 12, how far away are you. Really?? So sorry we paid through the nose for a horrid hotel and you're pushy to your guests. Don't even bother, was awful, thank god it was just for a night.
- Mark (8/5): Little ripper - I would stay here again , nice location, handy to everything in surfers paradise. Not modern but that's good
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Rude staff dirty motel early check out no toliet paper or aircondationer in hotel TV doesn't work
- Erna (8/5): location close to shops beach night life , - great location ,customer service with a smile ,great facilities pool ,gym.
room very spacious and comfortable with a big deep bath :).
- Verified traveler (6/5): - All good for 1 night.
Should provide soap for barthroom
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Aircon power supply was locked in OFF position by key; so cannot use aircon even though my booking specifically stated I would get an aircon room.
Shower door is supposed to have 3 sliding panels. 1 panel was missing and the 2 remaining panels were not even attached together. Had to shower using minimal water in order not to splash excessive water onto bathroom floor.
- Leanne (4/5): Not Happy - Have never come across such rudness and unwelcome behaviour by the manageress of this establishment. My husband and I are of mature age and we were spoken to with arrogance. Apparantly we interrupted her a couple of times and this annoyed her. We asked whether we could have the apartment earlier if ready after we arrived there and she allowed it to happen half an hour before check in which was 2pm and we had arrived there at 9.30. She allowed us to put our luggage in a cage in the garage and informed us that she was not responsible for it. We went walking rang her at about 1pm.She told us to wait another 20mins.We went back and when we rang the bell twice she opened the door and told us that we got her away from what she was doing and she should have told us to come back at 2pm.normal check in time. She gave us a key and told us the apt. no. and did not bother to explain how to use the key to enter the building. I eventually asked another guest. I asked for a second key and at first said no you only get one, but then agreed to provide one later for me when she had time. There was supposed to be a clothers dryer in the room but there was only the washing machine and tub.My husband and I felt like thanking her for her unpleasant attitude and just leaving the place to go elsewhere. Wehave previously stayed at several other places in Surfers Paradise and staff was always courteous and greeted us with a smile.
- Ali (2/5): Terrible, If you want ruin your holiday choose it - The worst experience I have ever had in my life , the lady's behaviour (owner) was completely rude and aggressive , the apartment was totally not clean and it was very old and hardly need repairs and renovations , no supplement of tissue , shampoo, ... , the hair dryer has old dirt like nobody clean it for ages , the stairways were dirty old and terrible , the bathroom has no FAN !?!? it's unbelievable , the keep the air-condition panel open by stretcher it was frustrating , the bath ceiling was destroyed , don't ruin your holiday by staying in this rubbish accommodation.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - We enjoyed our stay at Raffles Royale. It is close to the beach, cafes and restaurants, and the unit was as same as it was advertised on the website.
- Russell (2/5): In need of basic maintenance - No shower door on shower, no toilet roll holder, air con did not work, cupboard shelf above microwave very dirty, floor was dirty (grit under foot), less than private balcony with noisy neighbours.
- Darren (8/5): - Simple hotel, nice pool area and very close to Surfers night life
- MDR (6/5): You get what you pay for. - Good location, easy to find. Very basic accommodation, almost did the job.
I was travelling alone, thankfully, the wife wouldn't have been impressed.
I was only looking for 1 nights cheap accommodation, I got it.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - great location, clean & comfortable. Simple accomodation
- Verified traveler (6/5): Decent Hotel, Good Location BUT No Free WiFi - Stayed for a three nights in a one bedroom. The place was spacious and the location is great - close to the beach. Pool area is clean. However, we were disappointed to find that there was no free WiFi in the hotel anywhere. You have to pay to use the WiFi despite it being advertised as free in the rooms and in the public areas. Other than that we had no issues. The owner was kind enough to arrange for a taxi to pick us up at 4 am for our train.
- cath (6/5): Cheap - This motel is in a great position to city and cheap. Don't expect the Ritz and you will not feel disappointed. Great pool
- shahina (2/5): Unhappy - Worst hotel I experienced, sofa was uncomfortable, sofa bed was broken, sofa coveted with bedspread, they was bug near kitchen area, shower screen broken, dirty balcony.

- Verified traveler (2/5): Near to Perfect Hotel - I had a great time in the GC, however the Hotel was horrible. The owner was lovely and was always really helpful with directions, although her cleaning skills must have been out of date. The toilet was building flies everyday when we would come home there would be more and more flies. I ended up cleaning it.

- Carol (8/5): Basic but good apartments in a great location. - Apartments were basic but had everything we needed. Great location - right next to bus stop for theme parks, beach 5 min walk away & Cavill shopping mall 10 min wander.
Pool was great & bbq area good.
Owner was very helpful & we would definitely go back.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Night from hell - Walked into the reception to the manager yelling at her son. Room was right by stair well so could here people coming up and down all night. Several groups of people outside motel were yelling, swearing and arguing all night. Didn't get any sleep!
- Sang (8/5): - Facilities: Above average; Value: Cheap;
- Kaitlyn (10/5): - Facilities: Home away from home; Value: Bargain; Service: Go the extra mile, Outstanding, Phenomenal; Cleanliness: Immaculate;
- ROWAN (2/5): Amazed. - Amazed that people still stay here. I would be extremely interested to see the stats/percentage rate of people who revisit this motel or in our opinion a glorified backpacker hostel. Mutton done up as lamb springs to mind. Not sure if the latest craze is doors hanging off but is definetly the case here. Front Security Door hanging off 1 hinge, Showerscreen Door hanging off to the extent when showering more water goes onto floor than goes down the drain, Kitchen Cupboard Door hanging off. Photographic evidence to back up these claims. After reading quite a few other reveiws of this place since our stay, all of the above has been mentioned before from prior victims. Wish we had of looked at reveiws prior to our booking and could guarantee I would not be writing this reveiw now. Oven still had remnants from last guests in it. Felt safer ordering take away and eating from the takeaway container.
- Kathy (6/5): - Facilities: Nothing special; Value: Acceptable price; Service: Polite; Cleanliness: Tidy;
- Chad (10/5): - Facilities: Home away from home; Value: Great deal; Service: Go the extra mile; Cleanliness: Spotless;
- Tony (8/5): - Facilities: Typical; Value: Cheap; Service: Polite; Cleanliness: Tidy;
- Gail (8/5): Liked our stay - I had read bad reviews about this place and was a bit wary, but when we got there I had a nice surprise. Our room was neat and tidy, huge TV, comfortable slat bed and big enough for us not to feel cramped. The manager was very pleasant, we had a few chats with her and she was smiley the whole time.
The only downside was the noise from the traffic. We were on the first floor by the main road, but with windows and doors closed, it was bearable. No elevator so prepare for walking up stairs.
- Kerrie (10/5): - Facilities: Outstanding; Value: Great deal; Service: Phenomenal; Cleanliness: Gleaming;
Convenient close to all shops
- marion (2/5): Dirty - Not sure what mood the reception person was going to be like on everyday.
Room were dirty. Carpet dirty
Had to pay for toilet paper.
- carisa (10/5): nice hotel close to shops beach and attractions - was excellent hotel staff very helpful had pool and spa
- Kerry (2/5): Not at all like the photos on the website - This was the worst experience. We arrived on ANZAC afternoon to find the hotel unattended. After eventually getting the key we found our room was nothing like the website photos. Dirty, smelt unclean, cigarettes behind the couch in a non-smoking room. The decor was stuck in the seventies. Could only make contact with the after hours people using the phone on the side of the Main Street as the room phone didn't work. We eventually got a guarantee of a full refund as we did not stay there and had to find alternative accomodation. Would not recommend unless you want cheap budget.
- Melly (8/5): - Old but clean, comfy bed and so close to everything! Would be good if they had tea and coffee in the rooms.
- Andrew (6/5): Good location - A good place for a short stay such as supermarket, cafes bars and restaurants can be reached by 10 mins walking distance
- Fiona (2/5): Shabby, in need of a reno. - Our room was falling apart, ie: kitchen cupboard doors hanging off, shower door didn't exist, empty picture hooks, Leaking taps, broken tiles. There was also no tea towel or chopping board available. Not one single plate or cup matched another. It was all a bit like staying in someone's old holiday house. Not overly comfortable or convenient. The clientele are all quite young and rowdy and like to bash on doors and windows at 3am. Not a child friendly environment.
- Vin (4/5): Overpriced !! - Overpriced, old run down hotel, not worth $120 per night, should be between $70 to $90 per night, well located
- William (6/5): Nice pool area, room was ok.few things need fixing - Place was ok for the price. Just a few things like the shower door that didnt close and washing machine that didnt work and over flowed through the kitchen. The lady at the front desk was really lovely though and gave us lots of info about transport and things to do. The pool area was great. overall we had a nice stay and its all you really need for a holiday in surfers.
- Andy (8/5): Great location and environment - the place definitely worth each and every dollars you spent...It comes with great facilities, swimming pool and SPA!!!!!! 5-10 mins walk to the shops and the infamous surfer paradise beach....the staff is friendly and helpful as i got my refund on the spot after inform them my issue of them double charged my credit card...
- Nick (4/5): Good Location, That's It. - We weren't expecting the fanciest room around, all we wanted was a clean space, with a bed and somewhere to cook your meals, but we were very disappointed with what got.
The carpets were covered in stains and the chairs had multiple cigarette burns in them (which I realize is not the owners fault, but still brought the place down)
The sliding door on our shower was missing a section, and the second section fell off when I went to shut it.
The fridge worked well, but was missing a foot so it rocked every time you touched it.
The oven worked, but there was no temperature gauges on it, which made cooking difficult.
We asked for a room with AC, but only got a room with a ceiling fan, which had a very loud electrical buzz when it use being used, so we had to turn it off at nights.
The clothes drier worked but the countdown timer didn't. So you couldn't set a load running and then head out or the drier would run all day. So we had to listen to a loud drier running while we were trying to relax at nights.
The spa was cold, which took away from the relaxing feeling you were hoping for when dipping in to it.
Overall, it was just a whole lot of little things which built up enough to really bug you.
It's a good place if you are just after a really cheap room, but there is better value for money out there.
