• Geraldine (10/5): Wonderful hosts who went above and beyond ❤️ - Gorgeous cottage There was nothing not to like. But note: I was in a hurry when i was booking and didn’t realise It’s an open plan studio layout I mistakenly thought 1 bedroom ment there was a seperate bedroom. This is not a criticism it’s a gorgeous cottage.
• Roger (9/5): We highly recommend a stay at the Garden Flat - We liked the cleanliness, everything was spotless. Also, the bed was super comfortable. The kitchen area was well-appointed, with even some cooking oil. Considering the high standard of everything, we were disappointed that there was no milk in the fridge.
• Kathleen (9/5): A charming, unique cottage! - The Ruru cottage is the unit we stayed in. It is a unique and charming cottage with a gurgling stream nearby. It is well outfitted for cooking, relaxing, and sharing Company. We knew this going in, but it is not on the beach, so just be aware of that.

• Jeffrey (9/5): Great Location Exceptional Value - Quiet and clean. Hosts were helpful and fast. Would have preferred toilet and shower connected to living quarters with a door. It was exclusive but external. Required a flashlight at night.
• Carlson (9/5): - A unique cottage in the country. Lots of room with 3 bedrooms. Two bedrooms in the loft may be a problem for some but added to the charm. Bathroom worked but was not a typical motel style.. has a wood burner for chilly days. The ladders to the lofty beds were vertical and one had to be careful if when using.

• Brahna (10/5): The perfect retreat. - Michael & Misha are generous hosts, the property is very well cared for, it's just off the main road but incredibly private and you are soothed by the sounds of birds and a nearby brook. My cabin had everything one could need includging fresh cookies for afternoon tea~coffee. The recommadation for dinner was great and their location is not only just off Golden Bay but the perfect midway between Cape of Farewell and Collingwood. Nothing to say here.

• Sergei Sh (5/5): As private as sleeping in the next room to strangers - The Garden Lodge was genuinely very clean - credit where it’s due, the place was spotless and clearly well looked after. The location also appears wonderfully isolated, giving you that peaceful, tucked-away-in-nature first impression when you arrive. The lodge enthusiastically stretches the definition of “cosy” well into “how-do-I-turn-around-without-rearranging-the-room” territory. Space is… intimate. Very intimate. Despite the seemingly secluded setting, privacy is more of an optimistic suggestion than a reality. You can clearly hear the neighbours chatting - and snoring - at night, which makes earplugs less of an accessory and more of a necessity. Walking around the property also feels slightly risky, as you may unintentionally intrude on other guests’ privacy (or vice versa). And finally, the electric kettle featured a mysterious layer of slime inside - an unexpected extra that we did not order with our tea.

• John Guy (3/5): Apart from the solitude and relaxing environment outside there is no positive comment I can give this accommodation - The spacious grounds complete with stream. Very restful in the garden setting. This is not a five star property! The place was rundown, poorly provisioned and needs a lot of attention in terms of health and safety issues. The flagstones have edges raised and are “trip material“ at every step as is the raised door sill within the rooms inviting another fall. There is no hot water in the bathroom, and no towels provided. When asked for replacement towels they were washed out, worn out thin towels that are certainly not in keeping with a property asking the higher end price for a night accommodation. A photo will show the extremely poor supply of glassware crockery etc and the the whole setup was more like a camping site

• tfj100 (9/5): Quaint and Cosy Rural Stay - Very much off the beaten trac, quaint and cosy layout with some old-fashioned aspects in kitchen and bathroom. Location good for us as he headed off to the Heaphy Track the next morning Nothing specific - we arrived late and had to leave early and were a bit flustered trying to get organised. I was hoping to rely on wifi when we arrived to make contact with the host (no phone signal) but I wasn't able to get it working from the driveway. Luckily the host came out at that point and helped us orient ourselves.

We would love to stay again. We loved everything. The only thing you need to be aware of is that no cards are taken for payment.

The owner/staff was extremely friendly and welcoming. The location is very convenient, especially if you’re planning to visit Wharariki Beach and Farewell Spit. The Wi-Fi was a bit slow, but that’s understandable given how remote the location is.

Von hier aus ca 25 Minuten zum Windows 10 Beach zu fahren (plus 20 Minuten laufen). Self Check In war ebenfalls absolut unkompliziert. Schon etwas teurer im Vergleich zu anderen Unterkünften in Neuseeland

Les hébergements sont confortables et variés : exemple maison des backpapers, yourte, cabane en bois. Les propriétaires sympathiques et accueillants. • Tobias (10/5): Digital detox im Grünen! - Wir waren im Apartment untergebracht. Es war nach einem tollen Tag am Meer und der Küste genau der richtige Ort für Entspannung und Erholung! Es gab einen kleinen Holzofen und auch die Küche war gut ausgestattet. Die Lage macht es sehr ruhig. Wir kommen gerne wieder! Schade war, dass wir nur so kurz da bleiben konnten.

• Sue (8/5): Cozy, warm, wonderful remote location and the Nowra were just lovely. - The remote location was great and the rainforest and landscape was stunning. The people went out of their help to help and make your stay enjoyable. It was a cool night and the slow combustion fire was magic There was room to spread out and the facilities were all adequate. Fairwell Spit Tours picked us up on the road outside so we didn’t have to drive into town- thank you to the owner of the property that organised this for us. We thought there could have been a more rustic decor but apart from that little personal reflection it was perfect and we would choose this place over places in nearby Collingwood again if we go to Golden Bay again.

• Joseph (6/5): Try somthing else - A beautiful mansion in the forest with a nearby river stream and a lot of nature. the room and the level of accommodation is less than average. There is no fan (we asked about a fan, Katie "the host" suggested we go buy one...). There are no nets in the windows, lots of all kind off flys inc bees. No milk for coffee (after a request she did a favor and brought some), Water in the shower barely flows. Small sink in bathroom only cold water. Not recommended.

With easy access to the main points of interest in the area: Wharariki/Farewell Spit within 30 minutes, east coast of Abel Tasman within 1 hour driving. Can recommend Collingwood's Courthouse Coffee (10 minutes) and Mussel Inn for food - 15 minutes away.
