Graham (2/5): - Stay away from this place! I’ve stayed in backpackers to luxury hotels all over the world and I reckon this place is across the board the worst! Where to start…..on check in… TV didn’t work, safe didn’t work, no wi-fi. After numerous complaints to staff that couldn’t care less. They came to my room and fixed nothing! This place is falling apart. It’s like an abandoned resort. No one is here! They told me I’d have to wait till tomorrow to change rooms. The next morning I finally “lost it” and abused the staff in front of people checking in. Finally they started organising my new room but still had to wait till 3 pm! 24 hours to get a new room which wasn’t much better. The restaurant was terrible. The first three items on the menu I tried to order they didn’t have! Had to go with a horrible beef burger. Actually sitting outside on the waterfront was pretty nice. However after an hour and multiple requests to the waiter I finally got my change for the meal. I was assuming he was hoping I would forget. Every staff member in this place doesn’t care. Service apart from a couple of people was pathetic. Breakfast was supposed to be 7.30 am. About 8.20 they started getting organised. This place is so bad it’s actually funny! The aircon in the room was like a jet taking off every time it kicked in. The area around here is just a dump. There is nothing here apart from basically a shanty town. I could write pages about this “resort”. Stay away!!!

Donnett (6/5): - We stayed 2 nights to be close and convenient to the airport for departure. The "salt water" pool was very cloudy and unkept which was disappointing. Also there was construction on the property which was very noisy.

Sobrina (4/5): - Amazing views from top floor. Easy on-site parking. Staff was helpful. First room i got upstairs had a beautiful view, was very clean but the toilet didnt work. So i was moved to a room downstairs. Very old tub, old toilet, tiles need changing, musty as if it wasnt cleaned recently. The a c was nowhere near the bed. The sheets were itchy and the rooms had mosquitoes. I didn't want to ask to be moved again, so i stayed. Came to unwind and get some work done. Didn’t work out. No desk and chair in the room. The lady at the front desk, Tashema, was helpful & brought up a chair for me.

Couldn't even buy a bottle of water in the property or nearby to drink when the restaurant closed at 10am. They did have a nasty water dispenser with paper cone cups. Distasteful is the best i could offer about this property. The staff said I had to wait until the bar opened later. No consideration for guests Do not stay here $25 US airoort to hotel $50 US for a Taxi into Town from hotel $35 US from Airport ti the city Better pay the extra $10 and get access to water, supermarkets, gas station convenience stores and of course BETTER Hotels. Do NOT Stay here. They dont care about your comforts or your happiness.

Unfortunately we went back after the first time, because we were visiting my husband's family in Port Royal and this is the only hotel there. The grounds are beautiful but our room was not very clean. We struggled to find a outlet that worked to charge our phones. The plumbing was coming out of the walls and there was a terrible banging on the walls from work being done in the room next door! The internet also did not work regularly and the cable did not work!The hotel is very pricey for what you get! The food at the overpriced restaurant onsite was also not very good!

O4539CTmariew (2/5): FIND ANOTHER HOTEL TO STAY AT! - DO NOT BOOK AT THIS HOTEL! I was highly disappointed with this place. Although located in great location outside the city not far from the airport. This hotel failed to provide simple amenities. Like the bed, only had a sheet, no comforter or a blanket. The room nor the bathroom was not clean. The front desk was rude and kept us waiting for 30 minutes. Then on the first day, the kitchen for breakfast opened up late, causing a family to miss breakfast who was checking out. Then on top of everything else you couldn’t connect to the Wi-Fi for the whole day.
Regina (8/5): - Really nice renovations going on. Close to the airport. Really good for in the hotel restaurant Red Stripe. Plenty of outdoor seating by the water. Great place to catch a sunset! The new owner is extremely nice and has some great ideas for the future of this hotel. Can't wait to go back and see the progress.

I enjoyed my short visit to Port Royal I will definitely return. Also Gloria's is a very nice affordable and taste restaurant, walking distance up the road from the hotel that you must try

Jacqueline (6/5): - This hotel is located in a beautiful location by the sea. Loved the views of Kingston & Portmore. Service at the restaurant was extremely slow due to lack of staff I think. The food was not good, we went over to Gloria’s fish restaurant a 5 minute walk (it was good & great value for money). There were no chairs on the patios outside the room which was disappointing. I did ask about this & they were in the process of providing new furniture, which is great. Overall dispute this, I would recommend for a great stopover from/to the airport & for the nearby party cruise mooring.

There is dust in the air conditioner and the room overall was really stuffy.No cable or room phone. We were really hoping the hotel would have been way better. roy (2/5): - Where to begin? For US279, I've had better service for $40. I arrived just before 9pm on a Monday and was informed there was no food available on the property or within walking distance, not even a vending machine. I was told thet, I left about 3/4 of the free breakfast bar was open til 10, but the bartender was cashing out at nine. The lovely pool had a `pool closed' sign on it all the time I was there. The `free shuttle' was a taxi ride (US$50 tip round trip). I'm not sure how one messes up scrambled eggs and sausage, but after waiting almost a half hour when I was the only person in the restaurant, I left about 3/4 of the free breakfast - I tried giving a piece of the sausage to the cat that was begging and it turned its nose up at it. I couldn't take my medications because There wasn't a glass or cup in the room. I couldn't shower because the shower handle came off in my hand... The staff was very polite about explaining that service was basically nonexistent and would remain so. Without competition, the WORST hotel value I have ever received in my 73 years.

F1821KXmarkm (2/5): Absolutely awful, AVOID - Absolutely awful. Worst hotel I have ever stayed in, in any country. Where to start... Clean? No, rooms were dirty, showers not clean, not that there was any hot water to shower in anyway. See photos WiFi was a bit of a dice roll if it worked or not, when it did at best we had 4mbs Hot water, no hot water at all for our stay. I asked for a kettle so I could shave and apparently they don't have kettles, they did suggest I ask the kitchen for some hot water when the kitchen opens. Which is also hit and miss So the kitchen, on check in we are told the kitchen/restaurant opens at 07:30. I can only assume that means the cook wake up at home around 07:30am. We only stayed 2 days and breakfast wasn’t available before 08:30 am at all despite people just waiting around. Lunch time…. Exactly the same problem. After eventually waiting an hour for a sandwich we simply walked off to the local shop and bought some food there. Dinner? Even worse despite all our earlier days we were told we could order in advance, so at 4pm we ordered for 6pm….. at 8pm still no food despite asking many times. We had 4 year old and 6 year old with us who ended crying every morning and every evening because they were hungry. At 8pm I said just bring us any food, we really don’t care what it is just anything please. 30 minutes later cold chips and cold club sandwich (which we ordered at lunch time!) arrived! There is truly not a single redeeming feature about this complete hole, dirty, no food, poor service, no hot water, unfriendly & unhelpful staff. NO matter what other options you have for a stay, they must be better than this place, just avoid at all costs.

Michael H (8/5): - Upon arriving, we checked into, and check in was pleasant. However, when we went to the room, we were greeted with cobwebs, dirty floors, counters, bathroom toilet that did not work, and no hot water. We asked for another room, but was told that "there was no guaurantee that those rooms were cleaned." I forgot to mention earlier, that we also had visitor, a centipede that measured about 7 -8 inches, that thing was quick on its feet. I have never seen one that big except on documentaries. In the rooms, because we had a room change the following day, you have two guests, yet you only have one dusty cup and saucer for coffee, coffee, no sugar, no creamer. Our interactions with the kitchen staff during breakfast was superb. However, we ate out for dinner has the dinner menu was very very limited. The second room did have hot water and much nicer than the first but still needed work. I am not a complainer nor do I allow things to bother me, but this one I had to speak up about. I think the management needs to check the rooms after they are cleaned by staff to ensure cleanliness and readiness for guests. I must admit, they are building a newer section on the property. Hopefully things will improve.

Verified traveler (4/5): Dirty and unsafe - The room was dirty upon arrival. The door only locks with the knob. No deadbolt or safety lock. Advertises an airport shuttle but none was available. Had to take an expensive taxi for the same price if I would have stayed somewhere nicer in Kingston
Cay (6/5): Mixed emotions - 3 days/2Night. Fabulous location. Joel is shabby- no amenities in room .. like bottled water( 90° temperature.. had to walk to poolside bar and pay $2 for every bottle water .. even charged for water when eating in restaurant. Some great staff / others not so good.. most front desk staff were not very helpful- shame really as the property location (albeit quite from central Kingston (we found that good). This could be a fabulous hotel . We understand it has recently been purchased and plans are to improve . Ryan was exceptional!
Mohammad M (8/5): - This hotel offers the best view of the wide-open harbor, overlooking downtown Kingston. (There was a renovation taking place at the property when we stayed. The noise was quite intense. The hotel should not rent out the affected rooms during the renovation.)
NeilMartin6 (6/5): Disappointing - Stayed just one night as I had early flight. Rooms are OK for the money paid. I chose a basic room and got what I paid for. Service at the restaurant is awful. 90 mins wait for a burger at lunchtime was just ridiculous with a variety of excuses,eventually I left and got a takeaway in nearby Port Royal.
hayanty (6/5): Not sure if i can stay there againg - Helpful staff, the hotel It was under repair all day so there was a lot of noise the wors interneti ever experienced in my life terrible, bathroom smelled funny , the food at lunch time OMG I ordered a curry chicken no flavor. The hot water changes its temperature very quickly you don't even have a proper bath when the water is already cold. For the price of the hotel and not finding even 1 free bottle of water is questionable the pool looked a little cloudy water so when I saw it I went back to my room. When I went to the restaurant I sat down and it took a considerable time before the waitress noticed that I was there waiting to be served it was the same with a couple that arrived after me, the bartender was very friendly

There wasn’t even handsoap or soap, only shampoo, no conditioner. Overall the stay was ok for what it was, and we would stay there again, given the price of places in Kingston itself. The property has high potential but could definitely use an overhaul, especially to the rooms. But overall clean and the staff were friendly and nice for the most part

Coastal08360896736 (10/5): Enjoyable stay - When I arrived I did not have much expectations for the destination as I was pleased to have just landed in Jamaica. The short drive to the hotel was welcomed after 4hr 30 min flight. Arriving at the hotel the staff was welcoming and in little to no time had us situated in our hotel room. I found evening was a interesting time to arrive at the hotel as it's open concept dining/ patio/bar area was neighbored by a dock which had direct access to the carribbean sea. The scene offered 180° view from either bar or outdoor dining area of the carribbean sea under moonlight bordered by the surrounding city lights suggesting a landfall in the distance. Wisely, someone had a couple 3 seater swing chairs facing the sea just before the dock. This made for a relaxing way to wind down your nite after a light dinner or drinks at the bar. The dock itself offered an opportunity for a seat, feet just about grazing the sea waters as you give your legs a swing. The hotels location from that vantage registers as a peninsula and the land in the distant view accross the sea as a cove. Now, from night one the food and drinks were good. The complimentary fare ranged from classic American breakfasts on some mornings to your classic salt fish, boiled dumpling, yam, and curry chicken. Should require a bite for lunch or supper the kitchen offers a set menu that does not dissapoint. From what I experienced and observed the culinary team understands how to prepare something appetizing for the palate. The chef's went out of thier way to be visible and were interested to observe and inquire as to how the diners were enjoying thier creations. Chef Neff in particular didn't waste a single opportunity to engage and ensure that we enjoying our meals and time dining at the hotel. The staff was diverse in experience levels from what I could observe only offering a more well rounded experience as a guest. They worked well as a team to match the energy of the visitors and were busy about doing what they could to keep the visitors engaged and served. Each day the rotation of staff each brought their own personality offering a more authentic experience while understanding the space needed that you enjoy your own experience. The in manager in particular seemed to remain dutifully concerned that the guests were well served. The staff for the most part was hospitable and enjoyable to engage,and there were interesting stories shared and moments worth keeping. As a bit of a conversationalist I was hardly dissapointed. I would have done better to keep record of their names that I could better do them justice. I was there through the recent hurricane and inspite of the challenges the water ,winds, and debris presented the staff overcame the most pressing of them in what seemed less than 48 hrs. Their strategy to move all remaining guests to the 2nd of 3 floors proved to be in the best interest of the guests health and safety. Keeping with the theme of service we were readily fed & kept hydrated during the most difficult parts of Hurricane Beyrel's immediate aftermath. The dock offered opportunities for excursion aboard the local vessel by the name "Loose Cannon" which offered 2 trips each week there out to destinations such as the keys for a unique experience for a continental guest. One such trip I did take which sailed a multitude of 25+ patrons to soca party on one of the keys i doubt any of us first timers would soon forget. Classic carribbean fare of jerk chicken, pasta, and any of your classic cocktails you might want to further enjoy a soca jam, the vessels bartenders had at the ready. As a disclaimer that particular party was special event, yet an eventful public cruise does set sail fridays and Sundays to best of my knowledge which offers all the food music and drinks you could ask. Without question I would recommend this hotel to a couple still in love or looking to remember such times as it seems more boutique like in that you don't get lost in the property. You may catch a stingray leap a few feet from the water, a school of fish or, or view one of many starfish on the shallower waters on the property next to the bar on property. I will say the guests ranged from middle aged married couples, to nuclear families, to entire teams of women. On certain days we were even graced with the pressance of some of the men of the Canadian Armed Forces which was an honor and made for an even more memorable time. For me the locals were so welcoming and having ventured off property I felt safe and welcomed where I went, whether tobthe local grocer for a pound of rice(phone got wet), or the local restaurants which served some enticing seafood options. It truly is an unapologetically local feel so temper your expectations should you venture of as it is not the trappings of your typical North American major locale. Having attended 2 seperate local birthday parties in my time there it was an window into how well the community does celebrate each other. The sense of community was tangible as for most part whoever I encountered on and off site lead with the heart. I you can't already tell, I would more than likely recommend The Grand Port Royal Hotel to friends and family. P.S. The Friday night karaoke was a blast with guests and staff in tow with renditions of everything from reggae, top 40 ,r&b, and what ever else you would venture to try your hand at singing out loud to a supportive crowd. The DJ definitely knows his music mixes. Staff where's many hats and ought to be compensated although by the looks of how the owner and family stayed in touch and visible with the guests during the hurricane I wouldn't doubt they show they appreciate who they have.

Ryan from reception quickly sorted our query with the air-conditioning and obtained a standard lamp for us as weirdly part of the room didnt have lighting. We had a good lunch on our 1st day, 2nd day my lunch was nothing like the description on the menu. Please note (apparently) the service charge automatically added to the bill does not go to the staff. The included breakfast was very good. We used the swimming pool which was fine and lovely bar area. All the staff were friendly and helpful and special mention to Ryan. We visited Fort Charles and had a very interesting guided tour. Worth visiting if you have the time. Convenient hotel very near the airport.

It had good flavor and was nice trying something new but not what I would like to have for breakfast….hotel wasn’t bad. definitely did not get the room I reserved. Went for a morning walk around town also terrible, trash everywhere burnt cars. There was a restaurant down the street and they had fast great food so there was that at least. Never even made the boat tour left early due to these other issues. Also if going to Jamaica make sure you have filled out your c5 for customs that was annoying being stuck in a hallway trying to download an app and fill that crap out for a half hour also everyone has to do it.
