- Kenneth (10/5): -
- Laurine (8/5): Good stay - -Great location
-Delicious breakfast (at the other pub)
-Nice little chocolate truffles in the room
-Friendly staff -Room a bit small
- Emma (9/5): Excellent hotel and friendly staff. Will definitely be back again - Location to the showground for my husbands running event Rooms got very warm and you cannot open the windows very well to let air in
- Alastair (9/5): - The location, quality, comfort and style of the hotel was everything you could want for a country pub/hotel in the Yorkshire dales. Staff were lovely. I know we were out of the main holiday season but the only slight quibble was having to go to the neighbouring hotel (literally 100m across the green,) for breakfast. Whilst this was not a huge issue as the weather was great but first thing in the morning having to get coated up would have been more of a pain if it had rained. I knew we would need to eat at the Lister arms for a later evening meal but I do not recall seeing that breakfast would be there clearly explained on the booking. We would stay again, even with breakfast across the village, but just be aware and check when you book if it might bother you.
- harvey (9/5): Great place highly recommended - breakfast superb staff incredibly helpful and welcoming
- Dave (10/5): I'll be back! - Perfect start to our walking trip in The Dales. Malham is even better than when I visited a few years back. Malham is so popular now, it is probably a little better to visit during the week than on weekends.
- Lawrence (9/5): -
- Janet (7/5): Great walking location with friends - Loved the choice of the breakfast menu especially the fresh fruit. Seemed strange going to another hotel but understandable. Disappointed with the evening menu at lister Arms, limted vegetable choice and where was the strawberries in the Eton mess, certainly not in what I had. Expensive mixture of ice cream & cream not very enjoyable, left Disappointed. Could have done with a chair in the room and a mirror better located to a socket which were limited. Room very warm even with windows open.

- Alan (5/5): Ok due to location - The location and evening meal was good Few things I realise it’s a dog friendly hotel but our room was covered in dog hairs when we arrived home car was covered in dog hairs from where our overnight bag had been on the floor and clothes covered from the throw on the bed . Also the shower was useless, . I stood at the bar at least 15 mins waiting for service. Evening meal good apart from being charged £33 for a glass of Prosecco. Yes it got refunded but only as I asked for receipt . It was due to staff training that’s fine but should the staff being trained not be supervised due to mistakes like this .

- David (10/5): -
- Steven (9/5): Nice country inn with all the needs for our short break - Excellent location perfect for our stay to enjoy the surrounding countryside Nothing
- Stuart (9/5): Good value. Rooms clean and adequate - Good spot. Great for our Way of the Roses stop. Kitchen closes early but you can use their sister hotel 200m up the road.
- LEIGH (10/5): - Although the breakfast was just a short distance across from the Buck Inn, it was superb. Our room was pleasant, comfortable, and quiet with a huge bathroom. The staff were cheerful and helpful. It could not have been better!
- Paul (8/5): A good place with good staff. Except offside breakfast. - The buck inn was good, comfy, good food. Having breakfast at the lister arms was a waste of time. They didn’t pay attention, waited 30 to get food, and no continental to start, even tho advertised.
- Wilshaw (5/5): - The location was fantastic. We didn't like the fact that breakfast was over the road at the lister arms also the evening meal at the buck inn only serves food until early evening
- Amelia (9/5): -
- Francis (8/5): - Good choice at breakfast
- Joanna (10/5): Lovely place to stay and ideal to go walking from. -
- Andy (10/5): Tremendous staff and facilities - Great all round place Nothing
- Sean (10/5): -
- David K. (6/5): The location makes up for any shortfalls in facilities. - The walk to the Lister Arms for all meals was a little inconvenient, however the meals at the Lister are very good.
- Jeanette (10/5): A lovely little gem for a stay - Brilliant location with lovely walks from the door. Very welcoming and dog friendly. Our room was very comfortable and the bed was amazing. All staff both here and at The Lister Hotel where we ate were very friendly. The pups enjoyed their sausages for breakfast. Highly recommend and will certainly be back to stay for longer.
- Claire (10/5): - Fabulous place to stay
- Michelle (9/5): -
- Pawson (10/5): Lovely pub/accommodation prime location, very clean & cosy. The staff were very kind & happy we couldn't - Prime location, the staff were brilliant Nothing
- Kate (6/5): Could have been so much better - Breakfast being in another pub, so you had to walk in the rain for breakfast.
No heating on in the bedrooms
- Tom (10/5): -
- stuart (6/5): Lovely location but needs improvements staff were lovely and welcoming - Lovely location Unfortunately rooms tired shower was Luke warm the bar area shut at 10 pm on a Saturday night
- Joanna (10/5): -
- Jason (10/5): -
- HELEN (8/5): Lovely overnight stay and dog friendly too - Breakfast was at the Lister Arms, which was perfect. The shower wasn’t good, not enough power & tv remote did not work. Had to manually change channels.
We understand that the pub was recently acquired and is going to have refurbishment this year. So we will return and see how things have improved. Malham is beautiful and if this pub is as good as the Lister Arms, another reason to visit again
- Emlyn (10/5): -
- Gary (8/5): -
- Kristine (10/5): Absolutely perfect pub stay in Malham - Everything! The heavy front door
- Linda (10/5): - Lovely friendly staff All good
- Mark (7/5): -
- Michael (10/5): - Didn’t stay there we were transferred to the lister arms across the street
- Andrew (8/5): Lovely, and would return. - Location was perfect for what we wanted, which was to see a waterfall and Malham Cove. Check in was easy, staff friendly. Booked in for dinner, and while the staff member who served us was exceptional, the room felt unwelcoming. The next day the fire was lit, and it made all the difference. Food was good. Breakfast next morning was at the Lister Arms, which wasn't a problem and was very nice.
- Vicki (10/5): Wonderful stay! Can’t wait to return.. on my favourite places list.. - Venue is beautiful and cozy. All the staff have been incredibly welcoming and friendly, always available to offer advice when needed. The breakfast is amazing. Love the range of teas/ coffees available, decaf, fruit, hot chocolate.
Lovely shower gels available in the rooms. We ate at the restaurant every evening trying a range different meals, all were great. Have to say the pecan pie 🥧 wow 🤩 very much on my favourite list! Nothing.

- Sylwia (8/5): -
- GERARD (7/5): Great during the week when the area is quieter - Will hopefully return. Very nice
- Christina (10/5): -
- rob (7/5): - Food and breakfast Went to the Buck inn many years ago and was not as small and cosy as then.
- Amanda (10/5): -
- Gregory (5/5): Booked The Buck but had to use Sister Hotel's facilities - Area very pretty. Other hotel we were forced to use (see below) was lovely. Overall the staff were great. We booked The Buck after looking at all the photos of the hotel. On arrival, late afternoon, we were told quite bluntly that although we were staying at hotel it shuts down in afternoon and we had to use the sister hotel over the road for meals and breakfast. I totally understand their reasons for this but there was no mention when we booked and the assertive manager just told us as it was. It should have been clear so we could have made an informed choice.
- Lisa (8/5): -
- Julie (5/5): Unfortunate really, we were told on arrival that due to staff shortages the bar was closed. Therefore we had to go to t - Great locations Tiny room, cramped bathrooms
- Guest (8/5): - Great location.
Good choice on tea tray.
Staff were great... house maid was lovely.
Food in restaurant was great.
Breakfast at the Lister arms was amazing.
If the rooms were upgraded this would be a fantastic location. The room was very tired and needed a refurb. There were marks on the walls, filled raw plug holes everywhere, the wallpaper was peeling away and badly fitted and the room just felt a bit underwhelming for the cost.
The floor in the bathroom was cracked.
The room needed some more artwork or features on the blank walls.
We didnt like that it was 2 single beds pushed together.
- Aruna (9/5): The staff were very welcoming. Breakfast was served at the Lister Arms across the road. The breakfast was excellent, wit - Perfect location. There wasn’t particularly anywhere to sit in the bar if you just wanted a drink as it was mainly set up for diners. For a country pub, it would have been nice to have a few chairs around the fire specifically for this.
- Andrew (8/5): Great location for family reunion walks. - Great location and although food was provided in sister pub - the Lister Arms ( only 50 yards away)the food was excellent. No cosy seat areas. All the seating was dining chairs and tables so not the best for relaxing by the fire after a day out walking
- Nigel (8/5): -
- Jayne E (9/5): Lovely 2 night break - Perfect location for exploring walks from Malham.
Excellent breakfast across the bridge at the sister property Lister Arms.
Staff were really helpful Evening meal currently only served until 6pm although there was the option to book at The lister Arms
- Philip (9/5): -
- Maxine (8/5): -
- Phoebie (8/5): Highly recommend!!! - This is the place was so cozy, the decor and feel of the whole building was amazing. Truly stunning. The location is absolutely stunning. So many opportunities was walks and nice views. Breakfast was also delicious and the staff were so lovely. There’s nothing we didn’t like. We loved our stay.
- Karl (10/5): Stunning location - Ideal location the area is beautiful, all staff are friendly and very helpful, food is great
Will definitely be back Having to go across the road for breakfast, can imagine not great if weathers not good, food does make up for this and umbrellas are provided.
- Kirsty (8/5): Perfect stay - Lovely pub
- Jon (8/5): - Excellent location Having to go to different pub in village for breakfast
- Claire (10/5): -
- Rhona (9/5): - Clean and comfortable with friendly staff
- Jones (10/5): Nice hotel friendly to walkers - We had a great stay 2 night at the Buck Inn. Staff were very friendly and welcoming, and we appreciated how friendly they were to walkers. The kitchen was closed so we had our meals across the road at their sister pub, The Lister Arms. Meals were all very nice. A really nice stopover during our walking holiday.
- Simon (9/5): -
- Claire (9/5): A cosy and comfortable stay in a beautiful, peaceful location. - The rooms were cosy and comfortable and we appreciated having fresh milk for our drinks, rather than UHT. We had two lovely meals in the pub, plus the breakfasts in its sister pub were of really good quality. All the staff we met were attentive and friendly. Malham is a lovely village, with interesting walks on the doorstep. We noticed a few areas in our room and the hallway which looked like they needed a bit of attention and maintenance, but these were minor and didn't affect our stay at all.
- Elaine (8/5): Great value bnb (winter deal), very comfortable accomodation. - very comfortable bed, nice and. quiet. staff very efficient and friendly. Good food and nice warm restaurant. shower temperature didn't stay very warm and went cold after a while.
Drinks on the expensive side but would be good to see guest beers on hand pull - like at The Listers Arms.
- Hannah (10/5): -
- Rachel (8/5): Nice stay - The bed was comfy and the bathroom was spacious Room was really warm
Shower wasn't very powerful
Disappointed to have to go across the road for breakfast
- Stephen (10/5): - Great room and great food. Friendly and helpful staff. Good ambience. Obviously, the location right in Malham was ideal.
- Jonathan (8/5): - The area of Malham. The food, wine and beer. The room was tired, in need of redecoration.
- Luke (10/5): Sum up my stay Tranquil. - The Buck Inn is a friendly Grade II listed Coaching Inn in the beautiful village of malham North Yorkshire,
With friendly professional staff Katie, deb the housekeeper and Cordial table service by Zack delivering exceptional quality dishes.
The breakfast is exceptional a very short walk across the way over a lovely little stone bridge crossing a babbling brook in the recently refurbished lister Arms,
Very friendly professional service, Tim and Ross were great 👍 To reply to the question (what didn't you like?)
There is nothing to not like.
- Simon (3/5): Excellent location rooms need to be cleaned and paired !! - Excellent location Not very clean and rooms are very scruffy
- Helen (8/5): Brilliant all round. - Lovely pub, great food and comfortable rooms. Very welcoming staff. The breakfast over at the Lister Arms was excellent. The location was perfect for walking. Nothing.
- Simon (7/5): -
- Michelle Haworth (10/5): - Everything. Comfy bed great facilities and fantastic staff Nothing
- Louise (9/5): -
- Mark (10/5): Short trip - Everything Nothing
- Vickie (1/5): Let down and disappointing - We went here for dinner one evening after it reopened and that was lovely. We arrived for our stay on Wednesday night to find the place locked up, dark, and noone around. We spent 30 minutes attempting to contact someone (phone, Booking.com, email) desperately trying to work out what to do. Eventually, I remembered seeing in the reviews that breakfast was at the pub over the bridge (The Lister Arms) so we went there to see if they could help. They let us know that The Buck Inn was closed for 2 days but we'd had no communication, explanation, or apology from The Buck Inn about this. Thankfully, The Lister Arms were able to put us up for our stay and we stayed there for the full duration, despite a rather abrupt phone call 2 days in telling us we were meant to move (again not communicated). Honestly, this could have been disastrous if The Lister Arms hadn't helped so we're very grateful to them (and we highly recommend booking with them)....still awaiting an explanation / apology from the Buck Inn though...
- alison (10/5): lovely location and great hotel. - delicious breakfast, slightly chaotic as only reopened up after a refurb but was worth the wait!
Bed very comfy. The bathroom was a little dated, no bottled water in the room
- Richard (10/5): - Hassle free entry
- Elizabeth (4/5): Overpriced and underwhelmed! - The location is perfect and it is very dog friendly, however, everything else was disappointing! The value for money is terrible: the facilities in the room were poor. Shower was warm but not powerful, same story with the sink which was oddly located outside of the bathroom. Again water pressure was terrible. Had booked a superior suite and it was dark and dingy. It was impossible to get ready in as there was a lack of decent lighting and space.
Breakfast choices were good however, when it arrived it was cold. The bar menu in the evenings is extremely limited. Last orders was not called and therefore we were surprised to not stay in the bar past 11pm on a Saturday night as the bar was already closed when we tried to get a drink.
- Julia (9/5): -
- evans (8/5): -
- Carter (8/5): Excellent. Will return if ever in area again. - Just up the road but not an inconvenience and perfect Room maybe a little noisy but it is in a pub so to be expected!
- william (9/5): enjoyable - superb location nothing
- Deborah (10/5): My visit was everything I hoped it would be & more, will definitely be back! 😀 - The staff....second to non 💯
The bed & pillows! 😍
Great food & service! That I had to leave 🤣
- Mike (10/5): Glorious re, - Lovely old Inn, immaculately clean, lots of character with friendly staff and good food. It's obviously in need of a refurb which is in the pipeline. When that's completed the Buck Inn will be amazing.
- Esther (8/5): -
- Toni (10/5): -
- Lisa (10/5): - It was an amazing breakfast in a lovely village pub
- Rebekah (10/5): -
- Nick (10/5): Great countryside stay, exactly what you would want - Lovely welcome when checking in, pub was very welcoming and had a lovely smell of the open log fire that was burning away. Good service on drinks and hotel room was warm and comfortable with a lot of space. We did ask for a bottle of wine in the room before we arrived which was not there, however it was not raised as an issue or problem as it had not been paid for, but a little disappointing that it wasn’t there.
- Robert (9/5): - Everything was fine. The staff were very friendly Slightly expensive
- Rachael (10/5): - Beautiful setting and beautiful rooms the pub itself has loads of character excellent food and the full english breakfast was amazing staff very friendly and couldn't do enough for us!
- Barbara (8/5): Very good, excellent location and brilliant weather. - Breakfast very good. Location excellent. Staff very friendly and helpful. Another night.
