Guest Reviews
- Andrea (4/5): - For this specific location, after you pay Expedia, you're unaware of a $20 cash, damage deposit. The room has no trash cans or amenities, I did have about a quarter roll of toilet paper. my refrigerator was about 4 feet tall and only had one shelf, the rest were missing. With the curtains pulled completely closed, there's a flood light that shines directly into my room, and even at midnight, it looks like it's noon. The staff used his cell phone to take a photo of my license and his screen, and although I showed him my Expedia records receipt,
He still demanded cash. I wasn't able to check into my room promptly due to this delay. Additionally, I had to fill out a card with my personal information and even after doing so, was instructed to write my phone number across the bottom where it was not requested. Having scanned and then taken a photo of my license made me uneasy. There are folding chairs outside of most of the doors, people do live at this location. My floor was sticky, and my bed appeared to be wet in spots There was no blanket, just the top sheet and a paper thin cover. When leaving 8 hours after arrival, I noticed there appeared to be dried blood on the corner of my bed. I was not surprised by this, every other aspect was lacking.
- TRACY (2/5): Never Stay Here Unless You’re looking to Not Sleep - The bed was hard as a rock and ridiculously uncomfortable. I have spine issues and asked for extra pillows and was told that there was three on the king bed already and then later was brought a single thin small pillow.
- wayne (6/5): - $20 cash deposit for room key
- Katie (10/5): - friendly staff, good rate
- Nathan Todd (2/5): - Do not stay here if you value your sanity or sleep. Feet dirty from being barefoot in the room, people drinking in the parking lot with loud music at all hours of the night and management didn't do anything until i complained, room smelled strongly of mildew.
- gabriel (10/5): - Cool
- Brian (2/5): - check in should have told me everything about this place, sign on the wall of the extremely small 4 foot by 2foot check in booth read “charge a $20 deposit for room key cash only” clerk charges $30 no notation of this in the listing for the room. have to leave the property to find a atm, not one on site. return, get the room key go to the room. 10 foot x 12 foot room. one side bath. got the jacuzzi tub room, tub would not hold water drained rather quickly. silver fish and some other very large bug crawled out of the vent for the tub ending up in the water, ending that portion of the evening. upon exiting the tub found the carpet to be very sticky, tacky and very uncomfortable under the foot. bed covering. disgusting. blood stains on the comforter. wife slept in her cloths on top of sweat shirts due to condition of bedding, upon waking up found numerous bug bites that were not there just a couple hours prior. once calm enough brought these problems to the clerks attention was told no refunds, an that they hadn't had any other issues. i reserved a room for the cleetus n cars event, the indy 800 and Burn out rivals, was a 2 day even. 5 hour drive after due to these conditions. an of course no refunds… HIGHLY DISCOURAGE ANYONE FROM UTILIZING THIS DUMP.
DISGUSTING!!!!!
- donal (4/5): went to a football game after booking this fumble. - stay away. Old, Dingy, peeing paint, the plugs didn't work, it had a broke down full size fridge, and a microwave on the top of it with a cord that didn't reach a plug that wouldn't have worked anyway. No towels or wash clothes except for the used one in the tub. It doesn't feel safe. At check in, the proprietor took a picture of my license with his personal phone. now im worried about that.
- Jay (4/5): - Good location. The lady was okay, not great. The area was fairly quiet.
- JAMES (4/5): Bed Bugs? Dirty Sheets. - Blood on the sheets... maybe looked like bedbug signs. Also found lots of hair and other weird stains on the sheets. I asked management for a new room. They complied, that room was cleaner, and no blood on the bed. However it was still obvious the sheets were dirty and not fresh. Not sure I would stay here again.
- Hotelmanager (4/5): - To be clear, I love Indianapolis! I grew up here not far from the Catalina. Knowing the history of US 40, the Oasis diner and the "motor road" motels in the area always intrigued me. I happen to be in a situation where I would get to experience this "iconic" motel. Glad to say that it wasn't as bad as the numbers would suggest. The rooms were compact but had all the space you would need. Upgrades had been done. Carpet, bed covers, and attempts at repairs. The sheets appeared to have not been changed. Hair everywhere. Walls not clean.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Room was molded. Bathroom extremly unfit for human occupation. This property should be reported to city officials immediatelly.Room recked of mold. Could not stay.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Recommend Expedia drop this motel.
You do not want to be associated with the Catalina Motel.
- Mike (2/5): - I didnt stay here, and they wont return my money!! Crooks!
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Night check-in took forever to come to the door. Then didn't want to give me the room until I showed my Expedia receipt, and then slowly and grudgingly. Transfered me to two double beds instead of the King I ordered. The sheets in one bed had holes in them. The toilet didn't flush, which I found out after using it. I had to take the lid off to fix it. The windows are sealed shut so the room doesn't breath, and the air conditioner is very noisy. And there's weird jugs of stuff scattered around outside.
- Michael (8/5): - Nice small family owned motel. Very peaceful and the staff was very friendly. Quiet area. The rooms are a little outdated but reasonable
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Mark’s review about fearing for your life is accurate. Burn marks on the sheets, along with stains, debris and someone else’s hair. The fridge was FULL of someone else’s leftover food. The bathroom mirror was so splattered I can’t imagine how long it has gone without being cleaned. There was a cigarette butt on one of the night stands with ash everywhere. I purchased a sleeping bag and slept on the floor for my first night and then found a different hotel for the rest of my stay. Oh! And upon my arrival, a black minivan rolled down it’s window so a frowning woman could bark at me “Do you have a reservation? Through expedia?” When I replied yes she rolled up her window (apparently she works there). The front desk was just as unpleasant.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Across the street from a strip club. No breakfast.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - I'm not spoiled, but in this case I'm forced to say that the place is bad. The windows in the rooms (at least on the first floor) don't open, so the air in the room doesn't change and the room smells damp.
I had no wireless reception in most of my room, only close to the door.
The staff I talked to were nice, but had to wait for them to come to the reception. And on top of everything, since there was a big conference at Indianapolis that weekend and most hotel rooms were taken, I was overcharged to the room.
- Mark (2/5): - Do not ever stay at this place. You will be in fear for your life.
- christopher (2/5): DO NOT STAY HERE. - This motel was SO bad I had to ask for a refund and report them to the health department.
No joke.
- Cassandra (6/5): - It was okay. We didn't really stay long. We had a family member have a kidney transplant, so much just slept a few hours and headed to hospital. But it was okay.
- Thomas (2/5): It's a dump - I stayed two night because all other hotels were full with a convention in town. Room was dirty, sheets and pillow cases had stains a public hairs on them. Tub and bathroom floor were filthy. No maid service after the first night. No clean towels and bed wasn't made. I went out to buy soap and Lysol spray.
- rudy (2/5): Major Renovation required - Property needs a great deal of work. Room was in terrible shape. Towels in the bathroom were probably 5 years old, if not older. Major renovation required and not as convenient to the airport as you would think from the location.
- John (2/5): Convenient location - We needed a place to sleep and this was what was available. It seems to have outlived its days and should maybe be replaced. The location was good for getting to Lucas Oil Stadium.
- Ms KB (2/5): S.T.D. Hotel - This was the dirtiest hotel I've ever spent my hard earned money at. We had been on the road for 3 days, and all the other Hotels were booked for a Convention. It was the last room in town available. We needed a shower a some sleep. The bathroom was filthy, tub was so gross, I don't think it has ever seen bleach. The sheets had long black hairs on them, and they were ripped. I wouldn't recommend this place, unless you are desperate. It's across the street from a strip club, apparently it rents by the hour? So gross, so over priced. Needs a visit from the Health Department.
- Verified traveler (4/5): It was a bad smell, sheets were dirty, toilet - It was a bad experience for the money I spent and I would not tell anyone to stay there
