• Jan (6/5): Nedlagd restaurang och oväsen - De hade lagt ned restaurangen för länge sedan men står fortfarande med på Hotels. Man fick ta av sig skorna utanför och gå barfota i receptionen och övriga ytor. Slött internet som ibland inte funkade alls. Tv gick på samma system och det var alls inte bra. Mycket oväsen från vägen så balkongen gick inte att vara på. Rummet i sig var ok och välstädat och personalen menade väl och gjorde sitt bästa.
• torbjoan (4/5): The description of the hotel and the experience was not entirely in compliance. - 4 nights at the Lanta Mermaid Boutique Hotel did not meet expectations. We had rooms with a view and then the balcony was facing a very busy road. (This road also had to cross to get to the beach and it could often be a dangerous pass). Here it was not possible to sit and have a normal conversation from 0630 AM to midnight, nor could you have the sliding doors from the room open due to noise. The breakfast was also not as expected so we decided that it was best to go out in one of the many small restaurants (along the busy street) where we could find a cheaper and better breakfast offer. Having said all the negatives, we found the hosts to be nice and helpful, the rooms were clean and nice and certainly met our expectations.

Super service hos dem som jobber der. Som ofte i Thailand er airconditionen bråkete og det er lite belysning på rommet til kveldstid.
• Thaksin (10/5): Nice and clean Hotel - We booked a car for 2000 ThB from a travel Agency and only paid the driver on arrival at the hotel. It took 50 minutes from Krabi Airport to the ferry terminal and waited only 5 minutes to be on ferry. Ferry journey was a short 13 minutes and continued the journey on land for another 18 minutes to reach the Hotel. Location of hotel is excellent, 250 M walking distance to Klong Dao beach. Next to it on the right is The Kitchen which served excellent Thai food. A 7 Eleven store is situated on the left about 300 M away. During our stay we only took 2 Tuk Tuk ride, the first one to Old Town for 800 ThB return with 2 hours at Old Town. A short ride to Saladan cost us 100 ThB one way. To me this is very expensive. Our room face the hill side so the traffic hardly bothered us. All foot wears are left outside so cleanliness upkeep is easier but no room slippers were provided. Hope the management can provide slippers in future. There is still a bulky Cathode Ray Tube TV occupying a big table space. This is a place with value for money for Seniors like us.
• lynnigan (10/5): Great stay - We spent 4 nights here. Was a great stay. Room at the front, noise wasn’t too bad to be honest. We love watching the world go by.Housekeeping was good. All staff we met very welcoming and friendly.Beach is just across the road. There are quite a few nice beaches along the stretch of road. We found a few gorgeous ones. We walked everywhere as that’s what we like to do. Found some great places to eat in both directions from the hotel. We didn’t eat in the hotel as we like to try and spend our money in all the local eateries. That way we help more local businesses.We only had one bad meal but we were just unlucky there I guess.. We did have a run in with monkeys up the road which was pretty scary. I don’t scare easily. We were just walking up a lane from a beach. Babies sat on the trees. Then boom all the adults came running at us.Just beware!!

• Martin (10/5): väldigt prisvärt - Supertrevlig personal, prisvärda rum med bra AC och Wi-Fi och stranden är bara några minuters promenad bort. Minussidan är att hotellet inte har en pool samt att vattentrycket i duschen på 4e våning är riktigt dåligt. Men bortsett från det så är det ett riktigt prisvärt hotell!
• Lina (10/5): Mysigt hotell, bra läge och helt underbar personal - Litet mysigt hotell med helt underbar personal! De var väldigt hjälpsamma och hade koll på allt, en i familjen fyllde år, så när vi kom från stranden så låg det en liten present på bordet från dem. Frukostbuffén var väldigt bra, om man önskade något annat än det som fanns försökte de lösa det undan problem. (Det fanns stekt ägg, bröd, juice, pannkakor, 4 olika sorters Thaifrukost-specialliter som tex stekt ris med kyckling, nudlar med kyckling.Fruktfat, hemgjorda kakor och massa annat gott) Rummen var stora och rena. C:a 3 min gångväg till stranden, som var väldigt fin. Vill man så kan man ta en promenad in till Saladan (ca30 min lugn takt) Tveka inte att boka här, du kommer inte att bli besviken, snarare glatt överraskad!!

Essen nicht probiert, da in Umgebung hervorragende Alternativen. Guter Standort für die Insel. Nichts negatives zu bemerken!

• JonGKing (10/5): Saved our trip to Lanta :) - What a fantastic hotel! We visited Koh Lanta in low season and due to a lack of research done on my part, booked further south on the Island where everything was closed. We were almost ready to hop on the ferry back to Phuket when I found Mermaid Boutique House online. We decided to go and have a look and are so glad we did. We cancelled our accomodation and moved straight to this hotel. Joai at reception was amazing! She spoke excellent English and went out of her way to welcome us and help us find our way around the island. From renting a scooter, to restaurant recommendations, to changing our transfer arrangements at last minute, and friendly chats every time we saw her.... she made our stay AMAZING! The room was excellent. Clean, spacious, great aircon and great bathroom. Would recommend this place to anyone... especially if you’re visiting in low season as it’s close to everything that’s still open. We will definitely be back!! Thanks Mermaid Boutique House and thank you Joai!!! :)
• CopenhagenCouple (10/5): Feels like home - We stayed here for 8 nights and had a very good time. We had a room facing the sea with a nice view. The hotel has a no shoes policy, we loved this as it kept the hotel clean and kept some of the sand out of our room. The bed is really good, the aircon a bit noisy, but gets the job done. The bed was beautifully  decorated with folded towel animals and flowers every day. The staff were amazing, so friendly and gives the place a happy vibe. At breakfast you could get eggs, pancakes, Thai food etc. cooked just for you as you like. The place is small, but the buffet provided bread, fruit, cereals and youghurt and even different cakes every day. A great way to start the day. Saladan and Long beach are within walking distance and the beautiful Klong Dao beach is just across the road from the hotel. We will be back.
• fy2392 (10/5): Lovely staff, spotless rooms, space invaders - Stayed here for 3 nights and really liked it. Good value for money and the whole place was spotless. All staff, reception and housekeeping, where very friendly, efficient and polite. They operate a shoes off tile at the door and it’s up to you if you want to carry them to your room or leave them on the rack outside. There are a couple of very nice restaurants next door and it’s 5 minutes to the beach. We organised our onward travel and a snorkelling trip via reception and both were easy and of high quality. Only fault would be our tv didn’t work in the room, although weirdly, you could play space invaders.

• Pauliinareissaa (8/5): A nice hotel with very friendIy staff - We stayed here couple of nights and during our stay we eated few times breakfast and lunch here. The hotel was nice and clean, but a location was quite noisy. All the food was tasty and the breakfast was plentiful enough. The hotel staff was very friendIy and helpful.
• driz95 (10/5): Clean lovely boutique hotel - We stayed for 4 nights at Room 204 on the 1st floor which had a little balcony facing coconut trees & greenery. Pros:- 1. Massive bed and so very comfortable. 2. Bathroom was perfectly clean. Clean fresh towels. 3. Air con in perfect working order. Electric kettle & mini fridge also working well. 4. Lovely little balcony facing greenery. 5. Staff with impeccable english particularly Len (who has been there for only a month) was always smiling & helpful. 6. Beach towels provided daily. 7. 3 mins walk to the beautiful Klong Dao beach - perfect for swimming and relaxing. 8. Close to many dive/snorkelling tour shops (bargain to get the best price) - Koh Rok is a must see! We went to 4 islands as well - the Emerald Cave is beautiful, Koh Kradan & Koh Ngai is also lovely. Cons:- 1. Basic breakfast. Flies hovering around which is always worrying hygiene wise. A suggestion would be to cover the breads & cakes like they do the fruits. Also to provide better Thai options for breakfast. Eggs & brown bread from the western option were good (can't go wrong there). We expected the breakfast to be average so were not terribly disappointed. Our favourite part of breakfast was the fruit! 2. Water pressure from our shower was not strong and sometimes low, but manageable. Food suggestions:- 1. Krua Dan Thai down the road to the left of Mermaid (little green shop) does lunch & fantastic spicy tom yum. 2. Next door to Mermaid the Kitchen is good as per other reviews. Papaya salad was fantastic. 3. Seagull further down on left has the best rice vegetable spring rolls , pork basil dish & white snapper with a mango salad topping. And the mango sticky rice is a must try here! 4. The Sisters for good thai food in general. ** We also used the tour shop across the street for snorkelling and our return airport minivan transport. Always ask for a better price! There are many other tour shops on the same street to pick from. They all provide similar day trips out.
• Dimitrije56 (8/5): Nice little hotel, two minutes walk to a beautiful beach - Nice little hotel in Koh Lanta. We stayed there some years ago and liked it quite a lot. It has not changed: the room was big, bed comfortable, bathroom ok (though there was an unpleasant smell). Breakfast was very good. Location is at a busy road – so good thing is to take a room looking to the hill behind, otherwise it is probably noisy if on the road side. Beach is hundred meters away, 2 minutes walk – great long sandy beach. Staff in the hotel was very kind and nice – as there was a storm and we had to cancel our next reservation they helped us a lot and also to find and transfer to another hotel (it was full to stay longer).
• Dennis_A_Fin (8/5): Pleasant stay - We stayed for 8 nights over the new year. We originally booked 7 nights in a standard room, but extended our stay with one night in a deluxe room as our plans were cancelled by the tropical storm that cancelled all boats for a few days. The standard room was facing the mountain and was more quiet than the deluxe room facing the busy main road. The room had a outdoorish bathroom in conjunction with the balcony, which I think was quite nice. The room had a functional safe and a small minibar - two bottles of drinking water were provided every day. The bed was comfy enough and the air condition functional. The air con in both rooms we stayed had to be manually adjusted from a wall panel, quite annoying to get up in the night before we found a good setting for us. Deluxe room had a nice view and balcony on the sea side, watching the sunset from your own balcony is a big plus. The hotel is located close to some very good restaurants, namely The Kitchen right next door and Pailay a few hundred meters down the road. It's also a few hundred meters to the Khlong Dao beach, which has a good offering of bars and restaurants too. The staff war very accomodating and friendly. The front office helped us greatly when we were debating what to do due to the storm and even offered to make phone calls for us in Thai to sort things out. Huge thanks for that, superb service! The breakfast was good and all the hot stuff is made to order, which is very welcome. While it lacks choice the made to order omelettes and eggs make up for it. Omelette with vegetables and pancakes were our favourites. The only somewhat negative thing we have to say is the pretty much nonexisting noise reduction. You can hear everything going on in the hallway and in the deluxe room the road noises can be annoying, particulary the local muay thai tout that drives around with loudspeakers blaring. This is though more generally a Thailand problem, but you should be aware of it. If you are a light sleeper this might be a problem, but you get used to it and it's a small hotel, so there is not much traffic in the hallways anyways. Our deluxe room had a connecting door to an adjacent room and we could quite clearly hear what they were talking there, so thats a lack of privacy.
• martinhT505IH (10/5): Lovely friendly hotel - We enjoyed 3 nights at the Lanta Mermaid. It’s spotlessly clean and the staff are extremely friendly and welcoming as very helpful. The hotel is on a busy road but the traffic certainly didn’t impact our sleep. The beach is a few minutes away and it’s close to a 7 Eleven and restaurants and bars. The air con unit in our room didn’t have a remote control which just meant occasionally jumping out of bed to turn it off or on. Breakfast was perfect and the no shoes indoors policy wasn’t a problem. We asked for beach towels which the hotel happily provided. Wifi worked fine.

• juliejY9540KI (10/5): Wonderful in Everybody Way - They rooms were clean, showers very hot and had good water pressure, air con was strong all things you don’t take for granted in south Thailand. But it was the staff that sets them apart. They were wonderful accommodating anything I needed and going above and beyond. I went in the off season and there were limited options of things to do as a lot was still closed. They arranged a lovely private long boat to take me to 4 islands which was amazing. If you get the chance definitely visit Koh Phee (scull or ghost island) and Koh Talabeng as they and their caves are incredible.

• Travelqueen7177 (10/5): Exceptionally Hospitable- Perfect Stay:Home away from Home!!! You can't go wrong!! - A stylish cosy boutique resort - we had no expectations but were blown away! You leave your footwear outside and feel like you are entering home- everything is so clean because of this. I love this concept. Basso Nova music with carefully selected aesthetically pleasing furnishing and colours in the lounge reception area. We just loved sitting in the lounge and you can glance at all the books available to read and all their 9 star accolades from booking sites. This accommodation is an absolute delight- strategically positioned(just 8 minutes walk to the beach across the road). We got forest facing views- no mosquito issues, rooms that put most 4 star hotels to shame. The bed was so comfortable that I had the best sleep ever. Super clean! Air Cond was perfectly clean- not musty, no dust/ no dodgy smells as mentioned in other reviews-in fact lovely scented rooms. Nice clean well maintained hot showers. Rooms to the forest are quieter and all have 2 deck chairs, balcony and clothes rail. Safe deposit box in room. Kettle, fridge all in proper working order. We often have to compromise and stay at accommodation near town and dive resorts (for ease of access and pick up) that may not really tick all our boxes but this resort ticked all of what we wanted and more! Staff were a delight. A special asset to this establishment was TIN. She was so obliging to all our requests and never said a no. She didn't even take the tip we gave her on the last day until we insisted upon it. She is a valuable staff to your hotel and is doing a remarkable job catering to all the whims and fancies. She even helped out during bfast in the kitchen and was very attentive to our needs till the very end. Patient, obliging and very polite.This is a great hotel but TIN made it outstanding.She really went the extra mile and deserves a big pat on the back. A special comment to your kitchen staff who made breakfast so enjoyable and tasty- muesli, yoghurt, best pancakes, honey n spreads, toast, ALL varieties of eggs, porridge and noodle soup, juice.... ALL BROUGHT TO YOU AND SERVED AT YOUR TABLE at the lovely verandah outside and you can watch lanta go by. Lanta mermaid is a 10 mins scooter ride (available at resort at standard 250 baht) to Saladan town where most dive resorts are. Try food at 'krua dan thai' - a 5 min walk away on the left for reasonably cheap Thai food. Sunset walks (6.30pm) at the beach a must- lots of crabs and shell fish on shore. Lots of eating places facing beach and massage shops. 7- eleven a 5 min walk away. Easy to hail down a tuk tuk though scooter is nice at 250 baht all day. This resort will make your holiday perfect! Don't even bother looking for anything else! We will be recommending to our friends. A special thank you to TIN again -you are amazing!!!
• PacificBlackBird (10/5): Our second time here, and it's just as great 5 years later! - The daughter took over from her parents; she's maintaining great standards, and learning fast. There is more traffic on the main road passing in front of the hotel, but it's not a significant inconvenience; we tried to have a glass of wine on the breakfast patio at night, but the mosquitos got us running, not the motorbikes... The mosquitos were never a problem on the beach, and seem to be mostly active from just before sunset for maybe a couple hours. The breakfast is ok; maybe a little variation and more tropical fruits would make it more interesting at little cost. Our only slight issue with the room was a moldy odour developing in the shower; it would get cleaned and eliminated, but only to come back a day later. More ventilation in the bathroom would help. Everyone here is so helpful in coordinating every guest's stay: transfers, activities, rentals, etc. Perfectly coordinated and communicated. Special thanks to Joai and Tin. Lanta Mermaid is also greatly situated for the beach: a short 5 minutes walk through the Klao Dong resort gets you to a beach with very few, generally older people.
• KathyOMurcia (10/5): Continues to Make us Happy! - We have been returning to Lanta Mermaid now for 8 consecutive years and continue to enjoy our stay! The staff are very friendly. The rooms are very spacious and clean. We stay in a Delux room at the front of the hotel, catching the beautiful sunsets, and traffic noise is not a problem. Restaurants are all around plus plenty on the beach with Saladan being a 5 minute Tuk-Tuk ride away! I highly recommend a visit - you will not be disappointed!!

För övrigt mycket bra läge nära strand och en liten tuktuk-tur in till Saladan med shopping och restauranger. Vi kan tänka oss att återkomma!

• num (10/5): - They call the hotel "home", and we agree completely. Extremely helpful and courteous staff who can communicate in good English. Everything seemed very well thought of. The inhouse restaurant serves delicious food. The location is very convenient, both close to the beach and a lot of restaurants. Lacks a pool, but proximity to the beach should probably make up for it. Definitely the best hotel we've stayed at in Thailand. Lanta Mermaid, and Mike especially, thank you for the generosity.

My only issue, not in their control, was the rooster that continued to do what roosters do all night long. Other than that, very great stay. Within walking distance to many restraunts and shops.

• Andrew (10/5): Stylish getaway close to the beach - Nice quiet getaway. Hotel is spotlessly clean. Rooms are smallish, no seating other than the bed, but have adequate storage. A few simple additions (like a selection of teas) would improve the breakfast. No lift, and no one offered to help us schlep our bags up to the fourth floor, so if you have luggage, ask for a 2nd floor room. A tip: rooms facing the "mountain" behind the hotel are cheaper than those facing the sea. They are also a lot quieter, since the road in front of the hotel is quite busy.

• Alexandra (10/5): Super Aufenthalt! - Das Hotel Mermaid war von allen unseren Hotels auf unserer Reise in Thailand das Beste! Das Preisleistungsverhältnis ist super, die Lage ist perfekt, man ist in 2min am Strand und in ein paar Minuten mit einem Tuktuk am Long Beach. Die Leute an der Reception sind sehr sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit. Unsere Klimaanlage hat mitten in der Nacht den Geist aufgegeben, es vergingen 15min und wir hatten ein neues Zimmer plus zwei Frühstück gratis wegen den Umständen (das Frühstück ist sehr zu empfehlen). Das Hotel selbst ist sehr gepflegt und sehr sauber! Wie fast überall in Lanta läuft man im Hotel barfuss herum.

For only 200 Baht you can rent a motorbike and helmet for a day to explore beautifull Koh Lanta. Hotel is coviently located near the beach and a lot of nearby restaurants and the 7/11

• Dan (8/5): Cheap and feels the other way around. - Extremely well made, very high quality. Cheapest room felt deluxe. The only con is no pool and the beach is road crossing and full 5 minutes walk away. If you don't like climbing stairs, evade this. It is 4-5 floors high. Otherwise the room was amazing and very homely and high quality. The restaurant I didn't check for breakfast, but dinner was small and very good Thai food selection.

• Jade (8/5): Hôtel accueillant proche de la plage. - Le fait de marcher pieds nus dans cet hôtel n'est pas très agréable, mais on finit par s'y habituer. Les chambres côté jardin sont sombres mais plus calmes que celles côté "plage". La salle de bains n'est pas bien conçue car les voisins vous distinguent dans les toilettes par le biais d'une cloison vitrée d'où le manque d'intimité totale dans les salles de bains côté jardin.Le petit déjeuner servi sur une terrasse face à la rue , manque de diversité. Le personnel est très souriant et de bon conseil.

However, there are really quite a few hotels along the beach which also seem very nice (we didn't stay in any though so am only guessing) - but I was quite disturbed by being right next to the main road. It is really right there and not with some space behind so the noises, especially during breakfast, is really very loud. Seeing as the rate is not that low for not being beachfront, I might go with a more simple room but better located (nearer the beach) so that the calm of the island comes through better

Excellent service and everything was there. Clean rooms, with beach towels, good shower etc. Very good price / quality -ratio.
• Stefanie (10/5): Tolles Hotel in Strandnähe - Der Aufenthalt im Lanta Mermaid Boutique Hotel war super. Das Hotel liegt zwar an der Hauptstraße, aber im Zimmer selbst bekommt man davon nicht viel mit. Der feine Sandstrand "Klong Dao" ist in zwei Gehminuten zu erreichen und bietet eine wunderbare Gelegenheit zum Entspannen. Zum Baden ist dieser sehr gut geeignet. Im Hotel kann man sich auch Strandtücher, Strandmatten und Strandspiele ausleihen (KEINE Gebühr). Die Zimmer sind gut ausgestattet und sauber. Die Klimaanlage ist zwar wie überall in Thailand direkt über dem Bett angebracht, aber sie ist relativ leise und man kann sie so einstellen, dass sie nicht direkt auf's Bett pustet. Das Hotelpersonal ist sehr zuvorkommend und aufmerksam. Wir wurden sehr herzlich empfangen. Auch während des Aufenthalts hatten sie stets ein offenes Ohr für Fragen/Wünsche/ etc. Manchmal war das Hotelpersnal zu engagiert. Zum Beispiel haben sie uns von sich aus auf einen früheren Flughafentransfer gebucht. Es war bestimmt gut gemeint. Aber wenn man dann 4 Stunden vor Abflug (domestic) am Flughafen ist, kann das auch nerven. Wir haben einen Roller direkt im Hotel gebucht. Preislich war es vergleichbar mit halbwegs vertrauenswürdigen Anbietern außerhalb des Hotels. Das Frühstück ist zwar a la carte, aber es wiederholt sich dennoch, da die Auswahl auf der Karte immer dieselbe ist. Aber dennoch zählte das Frühstück mit zu den Besten während unserer Thailand-Rundreise. Wir kommen sicher einmal wieder
• Verified traveler (8/5): Fantastic boutique hotel! - Loved my stay at Lanta Mermaid! Room was stylish, big, and very clean. And can't say enough good things about the staff. Every single one of them is so friendly and so helpful and they actually make an effort to know all the guests. I spent hours researching hotels in Koh Lanta. I originally envisioned staying at one of the larger resorts right on the beach and with a pool but was disheartened by the mixed reviews I read of most. Lanta Mermaids had such positive feedback so I went with it and have no regrets! You just cross the street and walk thru another hotel's grounds to get on the beach....so convenient. Highly recommend!
